Found something very cool in 2.2..

Apparently, you cannot download a podcast larger than 10MB over 3G/Edge; however, you can still listen to it by clicking on the title in iTunes on the iPhone. 3G is having issues in my area right now so I'm using Edge for the next couple of days; I tested it this morning and I can listen to all the podcasts just fine as it is streaming them instead of downloading them. Nice, eh? Hopefully they don't change this...I like being able to stream them instead of downloading them.

  • Found something very strange about Memory Bandwidth

Okay ever since I posted my 3.2Ghz overclock thread i've been doing some testing...
rolling back to 3Ghz from 3,2Ghz gives me 100% stability with prime95, which isn't that weird, BUT!
When I boot with a FSB of 250 (3Ghz) DDR400 (200Mhz) (4:5 divider) in the BIOS and run a memory bandwidth test in SiSoft Sandra I get a memory score of
    ~4800Mb/s
Which isn't that strange... A good score..
When I boot with a FSB of 267 (3,2Ghz) DDR427 (213,5Mhz) (4:5 divider) in the BIOS and run a memory bandwidth test in SiSoftware Sandra I get a memory score os
    ~5150Mb/s
Which isn't eithat that strange, a resonable gain considering the few extra Mhz I pumped out of the DDR (running at 2,5-3-3-6).
But here comes the really really strange part...
I boot with a FSB of 267 (3,2Ghz) into windows..
I change the FSB to 250 (3Ghz) with CoreCenter or ClockGen..
DDR goes back to 200Mhz (DDR400) (this all confirmed with Z-CPU)
I run a memory Bandwidth test in SiSoftware Sandra (restarted the program, not just running another one on top) and I get a memory score of...
    ....~5150Mb/s
I get similar scores running other benchmarks (in this case Aquamark3) that would suggest that there is a much greater performance loss in setting the BIOS FSB to 250Mhz rather than setting it to 367Mhz then lowering it in windows.
Does anyone have any idea why this happends?
I am really interested in peoples theories
    Neo2-LS 1.8
    P4 2,4C @ 3Ghz | 1Ghz FSB
    2x256M Dual DDR400 @ 2,5-3-3-6-8 200Mhz
    Radeon 9500PRO
    Antec TruePower 430W

    the 367 in the end is a typo, ment to say 267... ~1050Mhz FSB - 3,2Ghz for a 2,4C

My DDR timings are listed at the end of my post.. The same timings are used when i'm running at 3Ghz and 3,2Ghz. 2.5-3-3-6
    At 3Ghz with a DDR Speed of 333 I get 400Mhz (200Mhz per module) running FSB 250 (from 200)

The DRAM Speed is left at 4:5 (333) and the speed is 400Mhz when booting to 3Ghz (FSB 250)
    READ THIS CAREFULLY
    Okay, to put this simply...
Overclock in BIOS to 3Ghz with a DDR Ratio of 5:4
    BIOS FSB: 250
    BIOS DDR: 400
Sandra Memory Bandwidth Benchmark Score: ~4800Mb/s
Overclock in BIOS to 3,2Ghz with a DDR Ratio of 5:4
    BIOS FSB: 267
    BIOS DDR: 427
    CPU Speed: 3,2Ghz
Sandra Memory Bandwidth Benchmark Score: ~5150Mb/s
    So far nothing strange, okay?
-This is where it gets tricky...-
Overclock in BIOS to 3,2Ghz with a DDR Ratio of 5:4
    BIOS FSB: 267
    BIOS DDR: 427
    CPU Speed: 3,2Ghz
In Windows I change the FSB back to 250.
    FSB: 250
    DDR: 400
    CPU Speed: 3Ghz
Sandra Memory Bandwidth Benchmark Score: ~5150Mb/s
    To cut this short...
I get more memory bandwidth when booting to 3,2Ghz than 3Ghz even though when i'm in windows I change back to 3Ghz from 3,2Ghz.¨
    Any more questions? =)
This is really easy if you just read it all closely and if I don't make any more typos :D

  • VERY COOL: the web app for review & approve

I have downloaded the package at
    http://developer.apple.com/samplecode/FinalCutServerIntegrationSample/
read the readme, which is actually a manual, and set up everything accordingly. And now I have a very cool web app for review & approve with the same look and feel as the client. This is such a great feature that I really have no clue why apple is hiding it. There are third party apps that are less cool and cost a lot and don't send comments and flag back to FCsvr as this web app does.
And the best thing: it's very easy to install.

    Don't give up so soon..
Delete all XML files in the xmlin folder. try it again and when you see in "search all jobs" go to the administrator/log panel en double click on the upmost row (the one that inform you that the script has run). If it says cannot read XML file, the go to the xmlin folder and check if there is a new XML file. There probably is but not with the title you gave to the asset. This means that the script had problems assigning the title to the name of the XML file.
Try now uploading a new file. Don't change the filename and give a tite of something without spaces. See if it works then.
Also be aware that you set the priority probably to medium. A normal device scan would probably stop this.

  • Malicious or not? Message popped up: Mozilla security found (something like too much, forget exact word) activity on your computer so it will do a fast scan of system file. With OK button.

I was looking at youtube.com, which always tells me my browser is not supported and recommends I download Firefox, but that is what I was using, so I went to Firefox to check for updates. (I think I also had freecycle.org open.) Then this message popped up in a new page: Mozilla security found (something like "too much", forget exact word) activity on your computer so it will do a fast scan of system file. There was an OK button. The page address was: http://update17.stegner.ce.ms/index.php?Q7Lhl9ShbRxGJXpkM1VLSi4ZE8H4pTedoVPySgeppM3VpC+thEspcFG7qxHgn1pdsC2h5ygPGWI3t5hXqMzL9EQaZZ3J1e3CKXgCb0Qp. I did not click OK but copied the link and closed the window which closed the internet. I have never seen this before and would like to know if it is really Mozilla or possibly something malicious. Thank you.

Good catch. That almost certainly is an invitation to download malware.
There are a lot of infected web sites pushing "fake antivirus" software. If you have any doubts about whether your system might have become infected, you can supplement your regular security software with these two highly regarded scanners:
    Malwarebytes Anti-malware : http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
    SUPERAntiSpyware : http://www.superantispyware.com/

  • Trying to do something very strange with layouts and painting components

I'm trying to do something very strange with changing the layout of a container, then painting it to a bufferedImage and changing it back again so nothing has changed. However, I am unable to get the image i want of this container in a new layout. Consider it a preview function of the different layouts. Anyway. I've tried everything i know about swing and have come up empty. There is probably a better way to do what i am trying to do, i just don't know how.
If someone could have a look perhaps and help me out i would be much appreciative.
Here is a self contained small demo of my conundrum.

Looks like you didn't read the API for Container#doLayout().
Causes this container to lay out its components. Most programs should not call this method directly, but should invoke the validate method instead.
There's also a concurrency issue here in that the panel's components may be painted to the image before revalidation completes. And your GUI, like any Swing GUI, should be constructed and shown on the EDT.

timerClip can be referenced by code in frame 16, that
executes after your gotoAndStop(24), but code in timerClip, even in
its first frame, will not execute until the playhead actually
enters frame 24. in particular, from frame 16 you cannot reference
any functions defined on timerClip's timeline.

That's consistent with another application (other than QuickTime) having dropped old QuickTime componentry in non-standard locations on the PC.
So we'll go looking for the older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view options on the PC.
    1. Open My Computer from the desktop or Start menu.
    2. In the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected, and the "Hide extensions for known file types" option is unchecked.
    5. Click OK.
Now in My Computer, open your C drive.
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "system32" folder.
What files and/or folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the file/folder name? (In a standard installation of QuickTime, you should see precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

How can I export the very cool Lightroom Map and link to the photos which show on the map?
I love the way Lightroom imported my .gpx files, automatically geocoded the photos, and show where I took them on the map.
Would love to export this lovely map and the photos which have been geocoded to the map.
Anyone know how to export this as an HTML file I can import into my web site.

You probably didn't get an answer because none exists within Lightroom.
You can perform a screen caputre of the Lightroom map, and use the resulting JPG/GIF of your screen, however there is no way to hyperlink the point on the map to your photos.
You might want to consider a non-Lightroom solution, such as uploading the photos to an Album on Flickr (or one of many other photo sharing web sites) and using the mapping capabilites there, which would be hyperlinked to your photos, see example below. You can use Lightroom to geotag the photos and then use Lightroom to upload to Flickr (or other web site) and then use the web site to create and display the map

I recently upgraded to Yosemite and have found something called TMCacheDelete in activity monitor. What is it and should I be concerned?

This is purely an educated guess ...
I suspect that is clearing out your Time Machine cache.  Time Machine is your backup program that runs without your thinking about it, and backs up things that have changed since the last backup was done.
Should you be concerned?  No.  But by all means you should make sure you are in fact running Time Machine and keeping good backups.

Basically, the fan noise is getting incredibly loud and very whiny, even with just microsoft word on... It is also getting very hot to the touch... And apparently, the bottom part of my macbook (the case) has a defect- its slightly popped out... I never dropped my macbook and it has always been in a case so apparently I must have bought it like that... Also, the computer won't wake up from sleep mode sometimes, and sometimes when I push the power button to turn it on, all I see is a blank white/grey screen and nothing happens...
It has only been a couple of months and I've already been to the apple store about three times... I am a student so I don't have the time to send it in for the approx. 7 to 10 wait period... and I am concerned that if I do not send my computer in soon, the computer will crash and all my school work will go with it. I do not have an alternate computer and I will have no time to turn it in for repair until june... I do not know what to do... When I went to the apple store, they tested it and said that there was nothing wrong with the sound (however this only happens when it's taken in), I know for certain that there is something wrong with the fan noise... My suitemates and friends who have the same computer as I do, do not have this problem... What should I do? Is there any way I would be able to get this computer replaced? I really do not have the time to send it in for repairs... What should I do?? Any help would be appreciated... Thank You!

Most important thing first. You didn't list the "Boot ROM Version," which is after the Bus Speed in System Profiler. I ask due to the fact that, according to this Apple Support article:
    Firmware updates for Intel-based Macs
your MacBook probably required the installation of this firmware update:
    MacBook EFI Firmware Update 1.1
It isn't a question of whether or not that update was downloaded, but whether it was installed. Checking how System Profiler shows the "Boot ROM Version" is one way to find out if it was successfully installed. If it was not, download and install it, being careful to follow instructions and cautions.
It is also getting very hot to the touch...
First, the firmware update might help. Second, it is getting very hot due to the fans not being able to keep it cool enough despite running at higher speed. Can we assume that you are not using the MacBook as a laptop, but are following the cautions that it is a notebook and must have air circulation beneath it?
...sometimes when I push the power button to turn it on, all I see is a blank white/grey screen and nothing happens...
You should boot into safe mode:

    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107393
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107394
Booting into safe mode could be remedial for your MacBook. You should then restart your MacBook to return to normal use, as you will be unable to remain in safe mode and have normal use of your Mac.
If you have further problems, or if you resolve the current ones, please repost:)
