Found that Quicktime 7.1 won't play games that Quictime 6.5.4 did

  Windows XP Pro
I have found that rel 7.1 will not play games I normally play that have always run fine on rel. 6.5.4 . Any idea why? Or what I can do to get those games to run on 7.1?
PC   Windows XP Pro

I also have problems with 7.1. I'm hoping that Apple posts a reinstaller to go back to older versions of QT. Does anyone know if this is going to happen?

  • Quicktime V7.4 won't play movie rentals

I upgraded to QT 7.4 and now iTunes won't play my movie rentals. It just somes me the movie with no sound. I have even gone so far as to uninstall 7.4 and install 7.1, but then the movie won't play at all, just goes to the iTunes store and then stops, doing nothing. Can anyone help? Much appreciated.

I was having the same problem but just found a solution for IE. You need to make sure the QuicktimeCheck Class addon is enabled. Tools>Internet Options>Programs>Manage Addons. (Addons currently loaded in Internet Explorer)
I am not sure how this got disabled but enabling it got rid of the "Get the latest Quicktime" message and allowed me to view trailers once again.

  • Quicktime Player Pro won't play any movies?

Ever since I restored my computer about a month ago, my Quicktime Player won't play any video formats correctly. .avi files don't play anymore, and mp4 files only play sound with the screen black. Then when I try to close the application, I get the pinwheel for a long time, thus making me force quit every time. How can I fix this so it can play movies correctly?
(I'd also like to know how to get it to play .mka format movies as well)

    Courtney,
There are a lot of possible CODECS used with .AVI file, not all of which are available for the QuickTime player.
If you just want to play the AVI files use the free VLC media player found at http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

  • Quicktime Slideshow Movie Won't Play Music

I created a slideshow using my iPhoto 5.0.4 then exported it to a movie as Quicktime, with music. It plays beautifully on my machine. I burned it to a CD and sent it to someone with the identical Mac (a PowerBook G4) and he couldn't play it on his SAME version of QuickTime. As he explained it, his Apple kept sending him to iTunes to search for the music, which it claimed it couldn't find even in the Music Store (odd, since I bought the music from my Music Store).
Similarly, another person trying to view the same Quicktime movie on a PC, using a freshly downloaded of version of Quicktime, reported that the slideshow played but with NO music.
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
    Anne

Thanks for the explanations. I am trying to get my brain around the notion that if I had a CD of my own downloaded to iTunes, I could make all the copies I wanted and use them however I wanted, but a legally purchased song that iPhoto has no objection to my exporting to a QT movie is outside the rules!
That said, the explanation makes technical sense to me, so thanks!

  • Upgraded Firefox won't play games in Facebook now. Updated Adobe as well, Java rolled back

New Firefox won't allow game play at Facebook. Updated Adobe Flash Player, Java rolled-back to 1.0 because your new version won't work with current Java. Games like Zuma Blitz or Bejeweled are affected

Java is working properly. Still not loading games

  • My iPad 2 won't play game volume or notifications but will play music, can anyone help ?

I'm having trouble with my iPad 2, it won't play volume in games or notifications but it work when I play music

You have mute turned on.  Mute shuts off system sounds, and some app sounds, but has no effect on normal sounds, such as music.  You can turn nute off a couple of differet ways, but the simplest is to go to settings, general, and see if the side switch is set to mute.  If so, simply slide the side switch.  If it is not set to mute, make it so, then slide the switch.

  • Quicktime 7.5 Won't Play Movie Trailers!

    Hi:
I'm new to this forum. I'm having trouble with my "Free" Quicktime player. When I go to the Quicktime movie trailer website and click on the HD movie trailer button nothing happens at all and when I click on the normal movie trailer buttons a window pops up/opens that has the words "Get the latest Quicktime". I have the latest Quicktime 7.5
I have been using Quicktime for quite some time now after upgrading from v7.4.5.67 I have NOT been able to play any movie trailers on the Quicktime movie trailer website. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it a couple times to no avail.
What can I do to fix this problem????

I was having the same problem but just found a solution for IE. You need to make sure the QuicktimeCheck Class addon is enabled. Tools>Internet Options>Programs>Manage Addons. (Addons currently loaded in Internet Explorer)
I am not sure how this got disabled but enabling it got rid of the "Get the latest Quicktime" message and allowed me to view trailers once again.

  • Quicktime 10.1 Won't Play

I'm having an issue with Quicktime Version 10.1 whenever i load a video of anykind MOV. AVI. WMV. whatever it load up just fine, but when i press play it plays then it stops, so i press play again and it stops again the cycle continues i can't seem to get it to just play the movies. I can click through them and see the parts but when i press play it plays not even a second then automatically pauses. Help would be appriciated.

Found the Answer even though you might not like the result.
Upon looking for every backdoor solution to this issue, There were many areas of this site and other websites saying to just boot into the Recovery HD partition and re-install the OS.  About an hour and 30 minutes later after reloading the operating system and it not causing any issues, it fixed the problem.
Quicktime works perfectly.  No issues with video playback.  No hanging Application nor does it CACHE broken files or anything like that.  I would have to say the problem lies in the 'return application to past state' that is built into the operating system that you can turn off but i dont' want to turn that off becuase its a useful tool.
So Re-install of the operating system solved the issue!

  • Quicktime 10.0 won't play any of my wmv videos - help please

I get a pop up that says I don't have quicktime installed. Can anybody help? Thx

I assume you normally use the Flip4mac QT plugin to open WMV file. It hasn't been updated so it will look for QT 7 and not find Quicktime Player 7.
    The fix is easy:
Control+click on any WMV file. Then select "Get info" from the drop-down menu. Change the "Open with" setting by selecting "Quicktime Player." You may see two "quicktime Players" listed in the drop-down menu, select the one with the new "Q" symbol. That will be the QT 10 Player. Click on "Change All" and now they should all open with the QT 10 Player.
Some feature still won't work with Flip4Mac until it's updated.

  • QuickTime movie clips won't play in video player

I have movie clips generated by my camera that are in Quicktime format that are in iTunes and iPhoto (playing in both) but will not sync to the iPad because they are in an "unsupported format"
I have a few other QT clips that did sync to the iPad from iTunes, but not all of them will transfer.
    What is the problem?

Just because the videos from your camera are Quicktime, doesn't mean they will play on the ipad. Open the videos with Quicktime on your computer and get info, COMMAND+i. Here are the video specs for the iPad:
H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format. http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/

  • HELP?!  Quicktime movie rendered  won't play?

I made a movie in After Effects and rendered it as a quicktime movie with Soren (Soerenson?) compression type. It played on my computer and some friends' both PC and MAC computers. Now I am out of town and trying to play it on a PC that was Quicktime version 7.1.3 installed. the music plays, but the movie is all scrambled with green and blue nonsense, you can't see anything in the movie. WHy would this be? HELP PLEASE!!

Thank you so much, that worked perfectly! Now can you explain to me what that did? Do I need to switch it back for them? So that I know in the future.

  • Quicktime 7.2 won't play videos or adds on safari

I installed quicktime 7.2 on to my mac book, and now videos and adds don't show all I get is a Q with a ? mark on it. I'm not that good with computers, but can some Please help me solve this problem?

Quicktime with a ? refers to Flash video.
These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
Assuming you already run OS 10.4.9 or above and have Quicktime 7.2, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer from http://uk.real.com/player/
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
    Adobe FlashPlayer from http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
In Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them).
    Now repair permissions and restart.
The world should now be your oyster!
You should also have the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.

  • Quicktime on lion won't play

i recently got lion for my 2009 mac that i've always kept up to date with software updates and so forth. well when i go to play any movie in a clearly formated avi it says that quicktime doesn't support this video because it cant find the codec or something like that but before lion it would work without a hitch... any ideas how to correct this problem?

While we all have MacBooks in this forum most of us don’t have Lion. There's a Lion Support Community where everybody has Lion. You should also post this question there.  https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/mac_os_x_v10.7_lion

  • Quicktime and iTunes won't play anything, require computer restart.

Since installing Lion and the latest iTunes, I cannot consistently play songs or videos in iTunes (or Quicktime, for that matter). I hit the play button and it changes to a pause button, but the file doesn't progress past 0:00. I try pausing and restarting the song (or movie) and it doesn't play. This occurs both with songs on my computer and in previews from the iTunes Store. Restarting my iMac seems to fix it, but the problem returns after a period of use. Quitting and restarting iTunes does not fix the problem.
It seems that I need to reinstall Quicktime and/or iTunes (not sure how), but I'm open to other suggestions. Any help would be appreciated.

    jmaybee,
You need to go get a program called Pacifist 3.2.2 (it's shareware but you can use it for free - I cannot say enough of how great this program is, it has saved my skin more times than I can count)
    http://www.charlessoft.com
Then get the Snow Leopard disk that came with your system and put it in the optical drive and let it mount.
Using Pacifist, use the "Open Apple Install Discs" button, select the Snow Leopard disk and let it read the package installers. This may take some time, as it's got to read the DVD and pull up all the installer .pkg files..
When Pacifist is done, you'll see something that looks like this:
    http://home.comcast.net/~foodandart/MacForums/PacifistSnowLeopardQT.jpg
Dig down into the installer packages thusly:
    Contents of OSInstall.mpkg
       Contents of EssentialSystemSoftware
          Contents of EssentialSystemSoftwareGroup
             Contents of Essentials.pkg
                Applications
                   QuickTime Player.app
Select the QuickTime player to highlight it, then you just hit the large arrow at the upper left corner of the Pacifist window (sorry for my black Snow Leopard scheme making things hard to see) and it will ask you if you are certain and also to backup files (why? they're gone already!) and it will install the QuickTime Player to the default location in your Applications folder.
I *just* tried this with my own system and tossed my original copy of QTX on the Desktop and the new install works perfect.
    There you go..
    Regards,
    Deb.
