Found WAY to RETRIEVE MUSIC from IPOD!

I was working one day when my computer crashed. I thought I lost everything. But then I fooled around with my computer a little bit. I found a Way to RETRIEVE my MUSIC back! I will tell you how I did it through these easy steps...>>> (I have Windows XP)
1st>> re-download Itunes if it was lost>
2nd>> Go into "My Computer"
3rd>> Go into "Tools"
4th>> then "folder options," view," and "view hidden folders."
5th>> Go back into Itunes, then into "Add file to library"
6th>> while ipod is connected go to "My computer" section.
7th>> click on your USB/FIrewire port that your IPOD is connected to.
8th>> if done correctly you should be able to see the file "ipod controls". then go into that file.
9th>> Go into that file and find the "music" folder.
10th> Now withen that folder their should be afew other folders. If you click inside them they hold ALL your SONGS!
11th> Then press Ctrl-A to grab all the song and select open.
12th> WAHLA! You may have to repeat this process.
I hope this works for you It should put the names and everything back into its proper space! Im not sure if it will retrieve the art work but songs forsure! Thank you for taking the time to read this!

OK - I am going to try this.
I had the same thing - my computer crashed.
I have re-installed the software, but I am really nervous to connect my ipod, because in the past it automatically updates from my (now empty) library. Is there something I need to reset somewhere before I connect my ipod?
    Thanks

Yes.  Sign in to the iTunes Store with the same Apple ID you used to buy the music in settings on the phone.
Then tap on "purchased" in the iTunes app on the phone and download the music to your new iPhone.

  • Any way to transfer music from iPod to iTunes

I had to get new laptop and lost all my music from the iTunes I had on the previous lap top. Is there a way to transfer music from iPod to iTunes ?

Or you can do it the cheap way...
In the options screens, check "Enable Disk Use." Your ipod should then show up in your My Computer as a new drive.
In My Computer, go to TOOLS>FOLDER OPTIONS...>View [tab] and under "Hidden files and folders," choose to "Show hidden files and folders"
A new folder will pop up in My Computer's Ipod Drive letter called "Control" or something like that. You should be able to dig around in there and find a bunch of mp3s randomly named... Those represent your music files. Drag all the folders that have your music in it to the new computer's harddrive.
Now go into iTunes, "add Folder to Library," Choose the folder that you drug from your iPod and iTunes will import all your music as if nothing happened. Synch it up and it will transfer all this "new music" to your iPod, replacing the old music with the "new" stuff. You'll see... It's like nothing ever happened.
Please note that you'll lose your ratings and playlists... But honestly... Who cares??
    Happy transferring!

  • Is there a way to put music from ipod into computer?

Ok, my problem is that I have not got any trace of music on my computer and my music is on my ipod Classic. It is an 80GB one. I want to know if you can still put new music on it without deleting what is already on it. Or, if there is a way to get the music off it and into the computer. I cannot do the method suggested in this link though http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329?locale=en_AU so any help would be appreciated.
If you have a solution if you could e-mail me at: ***********@**********.** (no 'e' after the 'w' as I was a bad speller all those years ago).
    Thanks

    Copy from iPod to PC
It is important not to allow your iPod to sync with an empty library. If it is set to synchronise automatically you will get a message saying your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to sync – it is important to press cancel as syncing with an empty library erases all music from your iPod.
You can also prevent auto sync by holding down shift & ctrl as you plug in your iPod and keeping the keys held down until the iPod appears in iTunes.
Once you are connected, you need to set your iPod to manage music manually.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1535
If you have an iPod with iTunes Store purchases on it, you can use it to copy your purchases to other authorized computers.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848
However this is not allowed for other music.
This MacMuse tip tells you how to copy music from your iPod using Windows Explorer, but it is a bit fiddly:
    http://discussions.apple.com/messageview.jspa?messageID=797432
Otherwise you can use third party software to manage the transfer, there are a variety of programs out there, some free and some that will copy ratings and counts as well as the music files. Here is a selection, check them out and see what suits you.

  • Easiest way to get music from iPod to MacBook

I am trying to switch everything from my PC to my MacBook and was wondering if there is an app or something I can use to transfer all my music from my iPod to my Mac so I don't have to make a half dozen DVDs to transfer them.

Easiest way would be to use an external hard drive. Do you have another iPod besides the iPhone that can be used as an external hard drive? How big is your library?

  • How to retrieve music from ipod without syncing it

So my computer was messed up and I'm missing a bunch of music so i was needing to get the music files back. I have them on my ipod but i cant view them in itunes unless i sync the ipod which would erase the songs not on the computer and defeat the purpose of what i'm trying to do. I have the 'manually manage music' option checked and when i open up my ipod file from my computer it doesn't have the music files only pictures and stuff. I know it's possible to get the music without erasing it but i forget how and its really annoying, so how would i do so?

Here is the way about how to recover music from iPod
Assuming you're using a Windows 7 or 8 computer here.
Go to the start menu > type in hidd > open 'Show Hidden Files and Folders' > check the circle in that says Show hidden files, folders, and drives. > Click apply.
Now plug your iPod in. Go to Computer > click on eg. 'Azrielrain's ipo (H:)' or whatever shows up that looks like that > iPod_Control > Music > The files underneath that.
Now in those files will be mp3 or mp3 variants of your music, they will NOT however have the original names given to them. You can copy the files to your desktop, or music folder. That is pretty much the closest you'll get to being able to salvage your music from your iPod. Or you can use Data Recovery to help you recover your iPod music.

  • Any way to get music from ipod back into library after hard drive crash?

I just survived and am recovering from a hard drive crash. For some reason, on my backup, I only retained about 500 of my 2500 songs in my library. All of my music is intact on the ipod however. Is there any way at all to resolve this issue and get the music from the ipod into the libary, or in the alternative, any way to back up the stuff on the ipod? Thanks.

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

    iPod2PC Windows Only

iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible - Windows version only)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Software to retrieve music from iPod to computer

Hello. I have one new iPod (photo version) which is working properly. I also have an older model, which is mostly not working, though once in a while, I try again and it seems to sputter and lets me recharge and then dies again.
I have lost my WHOLE iTunes (another problem, not trying to address this anymore), and since I have about 50% of my music on these two iPods, I would like to find out about the rescue software I have heard about, which enables one to retrieve the music FROM the iPod, back to my Mac desktop. If there is any other solution, I am all ears, but mainly I am looking to know where and how I can get the software to rescue my music from the iPod.
Hope this is clear! Many thanks in advance for your help!
    Amy

    Amy
Do a Google search for ripping music from an IPOD. I had to do it once when my Rev A Imac was returned with multiple failures. The music was on my Ipod and I wanted it back on my new rev B Imac. Worked out just fine!
As long as you own the cd, and it is not purchased d/l music...you have the right under the fair use act, to copy FOR YOUR OWN PERSONAL USE! I do not believe this would violate any Apple Rules either, but check to make sure!

  • Is there a way of moving music from iPod Mini to computer?

Hi, I've got heaps of tracks on my iPod Mini, that I don't seem to have in my iTunes Library...
Is there a way to transferring these tracks back onto my computer?
    Thanks!

You cannot do it using iTunes (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store).  However, if you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get links for third-party methods and utilities that can transfer song files from iPod to computer.
NOTE:  Songs previously purchased from the iTunes Store can also be re-downloaded on the Purchased screen at no cost.

  • Retrieve music from iPOD

    Hi,
I think I already know the answer to this one(and I don't think I'm gonna like it!), but almost all of my purchased iTunes music has been deleted from my iTunes on my computer. However, it's all on my iPod(the latest model video iPod).
Is there any way to copy the music on my iPod back into iTunes on my computer, or back it up somehow? I've been searching and haven't found a clear answer(though I'm afraid it's "no" which seems totally crazy with this kind of technology). I tried "Transfer purchases from my iPOD" and nothing happens. I also tried selecting all the music in my iPOD and tried to Back Up to Disk--again nothing.
    Many thanks

    This should work:

  • Is there a way to transfer music from ipod to another ipod?

    Hey guys,
I'm having a hard time doing this... I have no music in my library and i wanna copy some of the songs from my ipod to my friends, is there a way to do this, and if so how? Thanks.

Hey Adam, You should post your question in the iPod Support site, this board is for help with iPhoto. I am sure there is a way to do it though.

  • Is there a way to transfer music from ipod to itunes?

I accidently deleted songs in library, but i still have it on the ipod...is there anyway i can get the songs back from my ipod to itunes?

    For windows only
    1) If Itunes is already installed disk use may need to enabled so you can see the Ipod in my computer. Itunes hides your ipod from windows otherwise.
    2) Make sure you can view hidden files. In MY computer go to tools>folder options>view>show hidden files and folders.
    3) Windows should see the ipod and your music should be on your ipod in several hidden folders. To be safe I would copy it all to say your desktop.
    4) Install Itunes http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and the Ipod updater http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/ (if you don't already have it installed)
After that drag the copied folder to Itunes (drag and drop or in Itunes (File>add folder to library)
You may need to authorise your new computer by playing it in the library first.
