Four (4) or more Displays?

What would be the best way to get 4 or more displays on a Mac Pro? The system is not used for gaming and the most video intense thing usually done is movie playback. Some DTP is done and the current card is the Radeon X1900.

While it's not officially supported by Apple; it's possible to run two 8800GT's in a Mac Pro (2008); I'm not 100% sure if its still possible in the Early-2009, but I can't see why not.
If you're talking build to order the only option is get purchase multiple GT120's and order the display port -> DVI adapters if you need them.

I have read in numerous places within Apple's documentation and seen in their videos the use of two (2) displays... but is Aperture capable of utilizing 3 or more displays effectively? I currently run four (4) displays; three (3) 20.1" Flat-Panel and one (1) 20" CRT. I am hoping, but not expecting, that Aperture is capable of utilizing more than just two displays and will know what to do with them.
Anyone have any insight...?

Same thing here. I have the following configuration for 3 displays:
G5 Dual 2-Gig with 2.5 Gig Ram
Display (1) - Sony W900 24" CRT connected to ATI 9600 Pro AGP Card
Display (2) - Sony W900 24" CRT connected to ATI 9200 PCI Card
Display (3) - Sony Artisan 21" CRT connected to (same) ATI 9200 PCI Card
The fact that the secondary image in mirrored on my 3rd monitor does not bother me as much as the fact that it takes sooooo long to make the transition to full-screen mode - nearly 15 seconds with a single image in the viewer. The images "step-up" in several stage on all monitors after hitting the "F" key. I am wondering if this is normal or if the problem is in the ATI 9200 PCI card. I have noticed that if I play a Quicktime Movie or Flash Web site, that dragging the browser window to either of the ATI 9200 connected monitors causes the sound and video to jerk and stammer?
Is there a better PCI video card out there for adding additional displays?

When using private browsing to view image results in Safari 5.1.3, only the first two rows of results are visible, the following four or so rows display greyed out place holders, and the safe search button is inoperable. Suggestions?

I have got the same behaviour after the last Safari Update to 5.1.3. It seems that Safari now handles some scripts in a new way. If you debug the Google Website, you will see, that there is some Javascript Error, that seems to prevent to write into local cache. After some searching I wasn't able to finde a solution for this problem, other then disabling Javascript while private browsing to prevent the script loading. You then are able to use Google with the old layout. The option to disable JavaScript can be found in the Menu "Developer", wich has to be enabled in Safari in the options first.
In my opinion this is a bug that is now occuring, because Apple changed something in private browsing and that has to be fixed by Google now, to run again. Or we will have to wait for 5.1.4, as you can read online Apple will change and bugfix the javascript engine in that version, perhaps this fixes the problem as well. I hope so!
If anyone is in the developer program perhaps you could test this with the beta of 5.1.4 and tell us if it works.

My Ipad 2 no longer displays anything.It may come on for a few seconds,but then half of the screen goes completely black, and the system becomes non responsive to all bottons. At other times all four sides of the display becomes black, about 1/4 inch.

Can anyone help me on this one? I got my IPAD 2 in June 2011. It never gave problems until a few days ago. It began to "hang", becoming non-responsive to all buttons. Then just yesterday morning, it went totally black. The display no longer displays. The Battery was charged 96%. I tried the power adapter, but had the same result. I tried the resetting, holding the two buttons for 10 seconds or more but no result. I have already restored it to the factory setting,(via my PC) and put back my apps etc. But after all this I still cannot see anything on the screen.
I know it is still working, because from time to timer I hear the message alerts, and other sounds.
Waht is the likely solution?

Try a Reset...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
3: If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the steps in this article to force the device into recovery mode.

Run FOUR 2560 x 1440 displays from W530?

Hi all,
I have a setup most folks don't see every day, but it serves me well. I find myself in need of updating it, though.
CURRENT setup:
W530 laptop with 32GB and the NVidia Quadro K2000M card
Sitting in a 4338 dock
Four (4) HP 24" LCD displays, each running at 1920x1200
Displays 1 & 2 are connected directly to the dock using the two DVI ports on it
Displays 3 & 4 are connected to a Targus USB 3.0 adapter.
What I want:
Four of these (or something similar) displays at the full 2560 x 1440 resolution
So... I guess the first question is... Can this be done with this laptop and this dock? If so, the second question is... What do I need? I have scoured these forums and Google and found a great deal of info that is close, but nothing I can find has made me think anyone else is running 4 displays at this resolution. I know my current Targus adapter won't support that resolution. Help!
If the W530 won't do this, would a W540? And would a W540 work with this dock?
I would greatly appreciate any help.

PS. I don't game. This is purely for the office. I just need a lotta screen real estate. I will watch a video every now and then, but this is 99.9% for typical office use.

It worked! Two Samsungs connected directly to the dock, each via DP; then one each connected to a StarTech USB32DPPRO. 10,240 pixels of super high-definition glory.

Using FCP 7 - Can I connect two more displays to the new 27" iMac and have one as a display monitor?

I use Final Cut Pro 7 right now and am thinking about buying the new 27" iMac with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4GB GDDR5 card. I have a 24" Apple Cinema Display with mini Display port cable. I also have one more Samsung display with DVI & HDMI. Can I connect both monitors to the iMac and be able to use one in FCP as a display monitor?

How do I download more display resolutions (scaled)?

Hi,
I am displaying my iMac through a VGA adapter to a projector.
Under system preferences, displays, resolutions (scaled) - I have only:
- 1920 x 1080
- 1600 x 900
- 1280 x 720
However would like (and have seen on my macbook) far more options. How do I get more options?

Dual cards, for more displays

so this mac pro, currently has an ati X1900 card installed, which has 2 DVI ports on it. Bottom line, im thinking about maybe having up to 3-4 displays hooked up to this thing symaltaniously. One of these I may want to be my Old SD 60" TV which only has RCAs or SVideo ports. Heres my question, what is my cheapest option to get from dvi to rca/svideo? what would be the cheapest card i could get that could work side by side with my X1900?

DVI-I ports like the ones on Mac display cards have two complete sets of signals. One is the one you expect -- a dual link DVI capable of driving large digital displays (over 1920 wide).
The other is a complete VGA, which is in the bar at one end of the connector, the four pins around it, plus Horizontal Sync, also used in the digital section. This gives you the four essential signals of VGA: Red, Green, Blue H-Sync, and V-Sync, as Analog signals. A DVI -> VGA adapter only shuffles the wires around to produce VGA.
When you say your TV has RCA inputs, do you mean it has Red, Green, Blue, H-Sync V-Sync inputs, or that it has one yellow NTSC composite Video input? There are simple converters that can combine Red Green Blue and the Syncs to get composite Video.
There even seems to be one that extracts VGA and converts it to NTSC composite Video for US$19 from the Apple online store, or your local store:

More DIsplay Problems on HPx2301 Monitor when connected to my MacBook Pro - OSX Snow Leopard

3) On-Screen Message "Monitor Going to Sleep"
I previously reported that the problems with my new monitor had been fixed with a change in DVI cable.
Unfortunately the fix lasted for one day. I powered off both the monitor and macbook, came back the next day and the monitor no longer detects the power book. Same is the case with an iMac and an old mac-mini. My external older Viewsonic (connected also via the same DVI cable) has no problems.
When the monitor is connected to the macbook, the macbook detects it and acts like it has dual screens - the System Preferences>Display app shows both monitors (and allows me to change resolution of the HP. Dispite this, the Monitor cannot detect a signal from the Mac.
Looks like a defective Monitor - will be contacting HP in the morning.
Also of note is that the included Documentation describes 6 control buttons on the base of the unit, including an Auto Adjust button for the user to " Press to activate the auto adjustment feature to optimize the screen image." Unfortunately, there are only 5 control buttons - there is no Auto Adjust button.
The documentation makes no mention of OSX, although it appears that drivers for the monitor have been included in the OSX distributions.

I'm back up - now using HP to mirror laptop screen. Got replacement DVI cable from HP, plugged it in an Monitor is working (again). So I have 3 seemingly identical cables - 2 supplied by HP, and one an older one I used with a Viewsonic DVI monitor.
1) The cable that shipped with the Monitor never worked,
2) The older cable worked for one day with the HP, then stopped working on the HP monitor, but worked with the older VIewsonic monitor,
3) The replacement cable from HP that is working currently.
I believe they are all DVI-i - pins appear to be identical on all three.
So I don't think its a settings or cable type issue. I suspect that the HP may have some circuitry that makes it very persnickity when it comes to signal detection - so perhaps there's some small variation is signal quality btween cables - not sure how to check that though.
We shall see if the cable 3 works for extended period.

Item & List tabs inside the upper ribbon is no more displayed

I have an issue tracking list , and when I first added the list there were two tabs named “Item” & “List” tabs inside the upper ribbon , which will be shown automatically. this applies for all the views such as “All items”, “My submissions”,
etc. view.
But I have edited the “All Item” view to add a Script Editor web part , and after that the “Item” & “List” tabs will no longer displayed unless the user select an item .. so can anyone advice how to force the “Item” & “List” tabs to be shown by default

According to your description, you might want to display the “Item” & “List” tabs all the time.
This is a by design behavior which should also be reasonable cause the tabs in ribbon will show/hide based on the focus status of a special web part in the current
page, we might get different tabs when we focus on different web part.
I would suggest you leave it what it is now, in most scenarios, users would be able to get used to such a scenario: click on the list view web part, ribbon and tabs
appear, perform the operations.
In the link provided in the previous post, applying an custom script with setTimeout() function to display the tabs forcibly will make users get confused if they are
working on other kinds of web part the current page.

More Display settings?

Today I got a dell 20.1 inch LCD monitor to run as a dual monitor with my macbook. It looks great and I am really happy with how easy it is to span monitors in OSX... However, there are a few features I would like to tweak and haven't been able to find a way. For example, when an application wants to use "full screen"(mostly games) they will rather choose the smaller monitor and make the big screen blank, or they will choose the big screen and make the macbook screen blank... ideally I would like to set it so the big screen goes full screen, and the macbook screen stays as my desk top so I can use other apps between gaming sessions. Does anyone know a way to do this?

Ok I did a few more tweaks and was able to get all the APPS to default to opening in the larger screen, however, when I go fullscreen it still blanks the small macbook scren, I don't want it to go black when I go fullscreen on the big screen, anyone know how to change this?

T500 with 2 more displays thru Displayport & VGA

Hi,
I connected 2 external monitors (1 thru Displayport , 1 thru VGA port ), and it works fine, its very easy to configure it using Lenovo Presentation utility.
But now I have the view only on those 2 external monitors (notebook display is off)
Is it possible to have 2 external monitors connected, and also notebook display ON ?? (resulting in 3 displays )
My lenovo has 2 graphic cards inside (Radeon HD3650 and internal Intel GM)
Any of You knows how to do it ?

ITunes display buttons in iphone4

I need help with iTunes display buttons in my IPhone 4. There is no 'more' display button with which I can switch the podcast and iTunes u display buttons with music and movies display button. The only four tabs displayed at the bottom of the screen in ITunes are podcasts, iTunes u, search and downloads. Please help

If you have created buttons in a region position they will all display horizontally.
If you make buttons that display within the region Items, you can display them in any way that you choose as with a normal item.

Problem with Answers Chart Output Not Displaying Last Column, Bottom Label

Good morning --
I have created an Answers chart that has the following characteristics:
- Bar chart
- Should display approx 20 bars
- Data is being returned correctly as a table
What is happening is that the frame for the chart is too small -- as a result, three or four columns are not displaying (with the last one truncated partway into displaying). The default label at the bottom of the chart is also getting cut off.
I have tried to manipulate the size of the container in the Compound View, but this does not help -- the graph expands or shrinks with exactly the same partially truncated set of bars. Added "cell padding" and just had more white space between the edge of the container and the truncated label / bar. I have tweaked the Graph Properties to no avail.

could it be because the chart is interpreting the values as text values instead of numbers? and 9 would then be much larger than ther other values? I'd try values without comma....tell it it's a numeric value like 12345.67.

Changing windows 7 display options using LabVIEW

I would like to use LabVIEW to change the display settings I'm using in Windows 7. To change the displays settings in Windows I have to right click on the desktop and click screen resolution. Then I have four options under multiple displays (Duplicate these displays, Extend these displays, Show Desktop only on 1, Show Desktop only on 2). I would like to be able to pragmatically select these. I believe I have use user32.dll to achieve this but am not sure which function to use. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
