Four devices on iCloud account, only 3 show up in Find My Mac

The Situation:
I have 4 devices logged into iCloud with the same Apple ID:
- Mac Pro
- iPhone
- iPad
- Mac Book Pro (3 years old)
All are running the latest, fully patched versions of iOS or Lion.
The prolbem is that the Mac Book Pro does not show up as a device in Find My Mac, regardless of accessing Find My Mac via the iCloud web site or via the app.
Nevertheless, the Mac Book Pro is logged into the correct iCloud account because it correctly, bidirectionally shares contact and calendar and bookmark information with the other three iCloud devices!  It just won't show up in Find My Mac.
Attempting to troubleshoot this I took the step of doing a clean install of Lion on this Mac Book Pro, yet the problem continues as above.
So, the question:
How do I determine why the (apparently) only iCloud function that this Mac Book Pro will not join is Find My Mac, while the other iCloud functions perform normally?
Any insights appreciated.

I'm sure you've checked but just to be sure, Find my mac is checked in the iCloud System Preference Pane and doesn't have any error icons at the side of it. Have you tried turning this setting off and on.
Yes, Find My Mac is checked ON in System Preferences and there are no error indications.  And I have turned it off, rebooted, and then turned it back on and rebooted, but to no avail.   This Mac Book Pro simply does not show up in Find My Mac even though it is cleaerly logged into iCloud (as described above.)

  • How do I remove previous device from iCloud account? (It is removed from Find My iPhone and iCloud Backup)

I recently got a new iPhone and traded in my old one. At the store, the representatives erased the contents and settings of the old phone (though they did run into some difficulties because of a pre-installed profile and I think were successful after a few attempts) and removed the SIM card. However, the old device keeps showing up on my iCloud account. I removed it from Find My iPhone and deleted the stored backup for the phone, but it's still there. I've talked with Apple Support about it as well as called the store on what I should do. Apple cannot remove the device on my account for me (which is fair), but I think it's strange that I can't remove my own device either. It won't give me any option to.
The Apple people reassure me not to worry and that everything is probably "fine", but I don't like this uneasy feeling that my iCloud account (and who knows what other data) might have an open connection or hole somewhere that I'm not aware about.
    Please help!

Some people I've talked to speculated (but could not confirm) that this "glitch" would be fixed once someone registered their own iCloud account to the old device; this would force the old device to be removed from my iCloud account and transferred to the new user. How long have you been experiencing this "glitch"? I'm guessing if Apple calls it a glitch on iCloud, it won't be fixed any time soon...

  • I delete my iCloud account and got a new one but the previous iCloud account is keep showing up.what do I do??

I delete my iCloud account and got a new one but the previous iCloud account is keep showing up.what do I do??

You have to sign out of the old one and then sign back in with the new one. On an iOS device it's Settings>iCloud and click 'Delete account' (this will not delete the account from the server, just disengage the device from it). On a Mac it's System Preferences>iCloud and click 'Sign out'.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Simply turn off "find my phone" and delete the iCloud account from your device.

I recently installed a new hard drive in a MacBook 2007 and then 10.6.3. I'd like to be able to Sync iCal to the calendars I have created on other devices (new iCloud account and an ME account). I can't upgrade to 10.7 or 10.8 because the MacBook is 32 bit. Just looking for a workaround as this is not a primary device.

You should update to the latest version of Snow Leopard, 10.6.8 - you can download it here; however it's still not compatible with iCloud and though you can connect to access your email you cannot access any other of iCloud's facilities.
However some people have been able to set up calendar syncing by using the method detailed here - this is an unsupported hack and may not be reliable, and may stop working at some future point. I've not tried it: use at your own discretion.
    To access the email:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard
Are you sure you can't upgrade to Lion? It requires an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, which you may well have, though it also needs 2GB RAM so you might need to add additional RAM (might not be worth it for what you want). The published specs don't mention 32 or 64 bit. You can buy Lion by ringing the Apple Store at the number at bottom left of this page.

  • I need any videos i shoot on my iphone, to go to the cloud automatically (when i get an icloud account). the demos show pics and docs going directly, but the demos are ambiguous about short videos i shoot on my phone....help?

i need any videos i shoot on my iphone, to go to the cloud automatically (when i get an icloud account). the demos show pics and docs going directly, but the demos are ambiguous about short videos i shoot on my phone....not backed up nightly, but available soon.  help?

Since photo stream doesn't support videos, you would need to use an app to do this.  Dropbox may be a good choice as I believe once enabled, all you have to do is open the app and it will automatically upload photos and videos taken since the last upload to your Dropbox account (see https://www.dropbox.com/help/289/en).  If you aren't familiar with Dropbox, it's a very popular cloud service for hosting files and other media.  Amazon just announced that its Cloud Drive service will soon support photos (http://9to5mac.com/2013/05/10/amazon-launches-cloud-drive-photos-app-for-iphone) /; perhaps it will also be extended to support videos at some point.

If you remove it from your account all of the data that is in the account will be removed from the iPad.

  • HT201104 what if my iCloud drive doesn't show up in finder?

I can't find my iCloud drive in my finder window.
I am logged in in preferences on my macbook and on my iPhone.
I can access iCloud from my browser.
I just can't access it from my operating system.
    Why?

And you're running OS X Yosemite on your Mac, correct? If so, you might see it in your Finder/Preferences/Sidebar tab to select. If not and you're signed into your iCloud account, it should show up in the Finder Sidebar.

  • Wife and I have separate iOS devices, separate iCloud accounts. But we both want to access mail from the iMac (OSX Mavericks.) Currently only my mail is linked. How to configure so that wife's iCloud mail can be seen  on iMac. Simple and explicit please!

My wife and I have separate ioS devices (iOS7)  with separate iCloud accounts.
So we access our mail separately on these devices. But we would both like to be able to access mail at the desk top (iMac, OSX Mavericks). Currently only my mail is linked. How do I set up the Mac to allow it to access my wife's e-mail too, either in the same mail inbox or a separate one. Simple instructions please!

If Mail in Mavericks is the same as earlier versions you can select accounts in the sidebar, so that you can either display the inboxes for individual accounts, or the contents of all the account inboxes. (If the accounts don't show click the disclosure triangle next to 'INBOX'). The layout may have changed since the version I have - Snow Leopard - but you should be able to do the same thing.

  • Is it possible to not have contacts from an iphone show up on all devices in icloud account

is it possible to not have contacts from an iphone show up on all devices

Yes. If they have different iCloud accounts or if Contacts is not turned on in Settings>iCloud.

  • One computer, one iTunes account, multiple devices and iCloud accounts, help!

We have a family MacBook and have always held a single iTunes account. We have multiple devices (iTunes Match has proved to be very useful). We have 2 x iCloud accounts. This causes an issue in terms of synchronisation. Is it possible to synch calendars and photos? As mentioned, the music is no longer an issue with iTunes match. Is there a way that we can synch calendars and photos without having to use a single iCloud account? In addition, the only reason we have separate iCloud accounts is for email. Can I keep my mobile.me email without an iCloud account?

I personally would recommend to use different iCloud account for your own stuff like email, calendars, reminders etc. If you want to have a calendar for your family then just share it via your iPhone, iPad or Mac. Yes, you could keep you me,com email address but it should be migrated to icloud because MobileMe was shut down.

  • Two Devices, Separate iCloud Accounts Help

I have two iPhone 4S devices, both 16GB capacity and using the latest iOS software and I had them sharing an iCloud account. When I started getting messages that my iCloud is full, I unselected most of the into to back up on iCloud (i.e. photostream, contacts, etc), but was still getting the message that iCloud was full. I went to Apple, and they suggested creating a separate iCloud ID for the second device and that even tho I selected to back up nothing, the entire phone is being backed up.
Anyway, I created a new ID, deleted the iCloud data from the phone and tried backing up the 2nd device to my new iCloud account. It says it's trying to back up 1.3GB of data, but when I back up, it says it'll take 6 hours. I let it back up overnight, with no success. It just stopped. The last iCloud backup appears as "Never."  Tried syncing up via iTunes as well, and then the iCloud, but the iCloud backup never seems to happen.
    Any tips?
    Thanks.

If Mail in Mavericks is the same as earlier versions you can select accounts in the sidebar, so that you can either display the inboxes for individual accounts, or the contents of all the account inboxes. • HT204053 2 devices - 1 icloud account issues; importing data to Iphone 6

I have an Iphone 4G and ipad which was sharing 1 icloud account . Big mistake! Because, the storage space was insufficient for both devices' data, I stopped backing up any more data into the icloud. Now I bought a new Iphone 6 and am wondering how I am to sync all my data ( including all the photos and contacts and apps) across from the Iphone 4G to the Iphone 6 .
Also, since I originally have 2 devices, can I create another icloud account separate for 4G now and then use that to sync my data across to the new  Iphone 6?
Otherwise I find it impossible to start using my iphone 6 at all!
    Thank you for any advice.

    Thank you for your reply.
My concern is that I do not want the data ( except for emails) which is in Ipad to be synced over to the new iphone which  I made the mistake of doing before with Iphone 4. The 2 devices are used for very different purposes so I would like to have 2 separate accounts for each device. My problem is trying to import only data from the iphone 4G to the new Iphone ,whereas since previously I only set up 1 icloud account for both devices, the data  ( eg photos, songs , books and apps ) appeared on both devices. I am trying to deviate from this. so in essence., I am hoping to set up a totally new account for the new iphone but to copy data from iphone 4 across.
Or should I  buy extra storage for a month  just for the purpose of backing up all data from both ipad and iphone 4 into that particular icloud account, then set up a new icloud account for iphone 6 and copy everything across and then delete data that came from the ipad one by one in the iphone 6 . After all, the new iphone 6 has 64 gb. In that way, I can still maintain the icloud account for ipad ( and then delete all the unnecessary data from iphone 4 in that particular icloud account) and have a separate icloud account for the new Iphone 6 as well.
Would really appreciate some feedback . TQ.

  • Mail in my mac iCloud account doesn't show up on the internet iCloud account

I have an iCloud mail folder on my macs (both a mini and a macbook) with many subfolders. All of a sudden the only mail that is on my macs that shows up on my iCloud internet account is in top level folders on my macs. When I click on the main folder that has all of the subfolders, I get a quick whirl of the indicator and then nothing - no sub folders, no emails, nothing! As a test, I moved an email from a subfolder into one of the prime folders on my mac and it immediately appeared on the internet. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this or what may be wrong?  In the past I was able to access this mail on my iCloud internet account without any problems.

    James
Could you explain what you mean and how to correct it?
The mail box listing in Mail have various main headings starting with On My Mac, and concluding with ICLOUD. Under the ICLOUD heading there are a series of subfolders, some of which have further levels of subfolders. It is only the top level under ICLOUD that shows its contents.
I just did a permissions repair with Disk Utility and the problem went away!!
Thanks for taking the time to respond.
