Foutmelding 2093

I keep getting the mistake 2093 when opening Quicktime player for windows. Anyone familiar with this problem

By way of experiment, let's see if we can get the QuickTime Player to launch if you do a "Run as administrator".
In your Start menu, open "Computer".
In "Computer", open Local Disk C:\ or whichever drive you have your program files installed on.
If you have a 32-bit version of Windows, open the "Program files" folder.
If you have a 64-bit version of Windows, open the "Program files (x86)" folder.
Open the "QuickTime" folder.
Right-click on the QuickTimePlayer.exe file and select "Run as administrator".
Does the Player launch without the 2093?

  • Events 1863 and 2093 post SBS 2003 SP2 Migration to 2008 R2 SP1

    I have migrated AD from a 2003 SBS SP2 server to a 2008 R2 SP1 server using the following article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd379526.aspx
I realize now that this was not the right article as it is for 2003 SP2 Standard, however I don't need to migrate Exchange or other applications.
That was 3 days ago, yesterday morning I noticed the following events in the 2008 error log: Error 1863 and Warning 2093
There appears to be no issue with the domain currently, everyone was able to login in without issue this morning. Both servers are continuing to run, although I plan to demote the 2003 and decommission the hardware if there are no issues (as advised by the
post-migration instructions of the above article). I don't need the 2003 SBS server anymore, should I just transfer the FSMO's now and demote the server?
I can provide full text of the events, but I have removed identifying information:

    User Action:
This server has not replicated successfully with the FSMO role holder server.
    1. The FSMO role holder server may be down or not responding. Please address the problem with this server.
    2. Determine whether the role is set properly on the FSMO role holder server. If the role needs to be adjusted, utilize NTDSUTIL.EXE to transfer or seize the role. This may be done using the steps provided in KB articles 255504 and 324801 on http://support.microsoft.com.
    3. If the FSMO role holder server used to be a domain controller, but was not demoted successfully, then the objects representing that server are still in the forest. This can occur if a domain controller has its operating system reinstalled or if a forced
removal is performed.  These lingering state objects should be removed using the NTDSUTIL.EXE metadata cleanup function.
    4. The FSMO role holder may not be a direct replication partner. If it is an indirect or transitive partner, then there are one or more intermediate replication partners through which replication data must flow. The total end to end replication latency should
be smaller than the replication latency threshold, or else this warning may be reported prematurely.
    5. Replication is blocked somewhere along the path of servers between the FSMO role holder server and this server.  Consult your forest topology plan to determine the likely route for replication between these servers. Check the status of replication using
repadmin /showrepl at each of these servers.
The following operations may be impacted:
Schema: You will no longer be able to modify the schema for this forest.
Domain Naming: You will no longer be able to add or remove domains from this forest.
PDC: You will no longer be able to perform primary domain controller operations, such as Group Policy updates and password resets for non-Active Directory Domain Services accounts.
RID: You will not be able to allocation new security identifiers for new user accounts, computer accounts or security groups.
Infrastructure: Cross-domain name references, such as universal group memberships, will not be updated properly if their target object is moved or renamed.

    Hi JPowered,
Thank you for posting your issue in the forum.
I am trying to involve someone familiar with this topic to further look at this issue. There might be some time delay. Appreciate your patience.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

    Hi,
The guide you are using is not for SBS. If you look at the detailed supported migration scenarios you will see this matrix:

This forum is not really for SBS migrations and you can also ask on the SBS forums
    for better advice about SBS.
And yes, if you want to decommission the SBS server, running as a DC, you will at some point have to transfer the FSMO roles to the destination server. Please follow the steps in the guide I posted earlier to migrate the roles or applications that you need.
And also ask more details on the SBS forums.

  • QuickTime does not start on Windows 7. Error 2093.

I am unable to launch QuickTime on Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit, I get a "QuickTime failed to initialize. Error # -2093" error message. This is particularly disturbing since for some odd reason iTunes seems to require QuickTime and I need iTunes to sync my iPod (nice set of dependencies).
Anyhow, I've been getting this error since upgrading from Vista to 7; I've uninstalled both apps completely (though the problem seems to be exclusive to QuickTime) and reinstalled a lot of times. Oddly enough, from time to time a reinstall works, iTunes launches and I get to change my music, but that lasts until a reboot where it stops working again, and now I'm there; further reinstalls haven't been able to make it work again and I'm growing more and more frustrated.
I've read that the problem could be a missing quicktime.qts (or something like that) in the system32 folder of Windows, but I checked and it's there.
Between reinstalls I've also cleaned my registry for stray QuickTime info on it, but to no effect.
I am desperately in need of help; my iPod is pretty useless without iTunes.
    Thanks in advance.

    *Replying to astrodyn*
I am getting the error message you show. Ie. Entry point etc. in Windows Vista.
Okay. Go "Start > Computer". In Computer, go "Tools > Folder Options". Click the "View tab". Make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected and that "Hide extensions for known filetypes" is unchecked. Okay out of the tab.
You next step depends on whether or not you've got a 32-bit or a 64-bit Vista.
*If you're 32-bit:* Open the C:\Windows\system32\ folder. Look for a QTCF.dll file. When you find the QTCF.dll, drag it out onto the desktop. Does QuickTime launch properly now?
    *If you're 64-bit:*
First, open the C:\Windows\system32\ folder. Look for a QTCF.dll file. If you find a QTCF.dll, drag it out onto the desktop.
Second, open the C:\Windows\sysWOW64\ folder. Look for a QTCF.dll file. If you find a QTCF.dll, drag it out onto the desktop.
Once you've cleared System32 and SysWOW84 of any copies of QTCF.dll, does QuickTime launch properly now?

  • Quicktime 2093 error

Everything worked fine until I attempted to upgrade to Itunes 7.0. Itunes will not load and it produces "Quicktime gives a fail to initialize error 2093"
I've tried the various troubleshooting suggestions I've been able to find on this forum.
    1. throughly scanned my computer using AWG, TrojanHunter and Eiwdo.
    2. done each of the steps of http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
    3. error checked my hard drive
    4. reinstalled windows installer.
    5. when i attempted to change the QuickTime settings via the Control Panel I receive a Buffer Overrun Detected! Program C:\windows\system32\rundl32.exe
    6. Also at that the upgrade knocked the sound out of my Windows Media player.
    7. I cannot get a response to clicking on the Speaker Settings Advanced Options button in the Sounds and Audio Devices in the Control Panel
    8. I went to the RealTek site and upgraded my sound driver

    Hey RAF359,
What happened when you ran the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from the article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976 ?
Did iTunes and Quicktime both disappear from Add/Remove Programs?

  • "error code: -3" and "error -2093" during installation

I just got my fifth generation iPod a few days ago. When I try to install the software from the CD that came in the box, the installation program can never quite finish. It gets through iTunes but then hangs up right as it is about to finish installing QuickTime. Then a window pops up telling me "QuickTime Installation Failed Error Code: -3." When I click on the iTunes icon on my desktop, another window pops up. It says "QuickTime failed to initialize (Error -2093)." iTunes never opens, and I can't put anything on iPod until this gets fixed. I have no idea what to do.

    hey b,
thanks so much for posting so many replies regarding error codes: 3, 2093, and 1406. at first i was having a hard time figuring out what to do first and then i sat down to read through your postings. you are the best! i followed the info you explained in this thread and others you referenced to.
i was worried that i wounldn't be able to use my itunes anymore but thanks to you i works now.
i was having trouble updating itunes 6 with Quicktime 7.0.3 and i was installing it and uninstalling it about 20 times. i even tried installing the stand alone QT 7.0.3 but wasn't successful because i didn't clean up the previous installation.
i basically followed the steps b lays out here and crossreferenced the other threads b wrote regarding the specific error messages that would pop up.
anyway i downloaded the installation.exe for QT standalone on my desktop. then i downloaded the itunes.exe on my desktop too but didn't run them. i deleted all previous installations and rebooted my computer. after the reboot i then shut down all applications running in the background (including McAfee firewall and viruscan) and did the stand alone QT installation. when i got an error message 1406 i clicked the ignore button and it installed QT anyway. then ran the itunes install.exe and it worked out great.
    thanks b, great job!

  • Error Message -2093

I accidentally removed my Quicktime from my Add/Remove Programs on my Control Panel. I have tried to download it again and it says "QuickTime failed to intialize. Error # -2093. Please make sure QuickTime is properly installed on this computer." Then I restored my computer back to a day when I knew QuickTime was on there. I got the same result with the same Error Message. Now I cannot even uninstall QuickTime because it says the file is not valid. I also tried to reinstall iTunes, did i lose my music? PLEASE HELP!

Thanks for the reply. I completely erased all my Quicktime files like you suggested and then I went on the Add/Remove programs on the control panel and clicked on Itunes. Then a prompt came up saying I could repair this by reinstalling itunes which automatically reinstalled quicktime. When i clicked on itunes my music came up and everything was fine. but when i plugged in my Ipod it didnt register to update. it stated i needed to reset my ipod by pushing the menu and select button at the same time and holding for 6 seconds until the apple appeared on the screen. i did this and no apple ever appeared. The ipod shut off and will not come back on. Any suggestions?????? please help!!!!

  • Quicktime error 2093 windows xp need help

can not unload quciktime or get to load new quicktime can not run on windows xp I get error code 2093.
went to open the quicktime exe folder and running as me do not see how to over ride or check adminiatrator box

Can you check something for me please? (This isn't a cure in itself but may give us a heads-up as to the source of the problem.)
Create a new Windows User account with full administrative rights. Log out of your normal account and log into the new account. (Don't use Fast User switching to move between accounts.)
In the new user account, try opening the QuickTime Player. Do you still get a 2093 in there? Or does it launch properly for you?

  • QuickTime...Error #2093

I've been unable to access my iTunes on my main computer and I keep getting the message "QuickTime failed to initialize. Error #2093.  Please make sure QuickTime is properly installed on this computer".  I have always been able to log-on to my iTunes until recently but don't know what is happening now.  Can anyone tell me what's going on?  And what can I do to fix this?  (It's telling me to "Uninstall iTunes, then re-install iTunes again...if I do this will I lose all my music )

I've been unable to access my iTunes on my main computer and I keep getting the message "QuickTime failed to initialize. Error #2093.
Quickly doublechecking something, gus ... is that a #2093 or a #2096? (The #2096 when launching iTunes has been much more common in recent times, and usually indicates something different from the #2093.)
If it's a #2093 when launching iTunes, could you let us know if your QuickTime Player is currently launching, please? If not, what error message do you get from your QuickTime Player?

  • QuickTime failed... Error #2093

    hi Edward!
you don't explicitly say what you've actually tried, so i'm going to tell you things you might have already tried.
the same procedures outlined here are also useful when dealing with the QT #2093 (you don't have to check to see if your QT is broken, of course):

  • 9.0.3 fails with -2093 error

Hate to start a new thread but... the rest don't seem to provide resolution.
New Dell with windows 7 after installing 9.0.3 itunes. After install quicktime fails to load with a -2093 code and a message to reinstall. I've tried most of the suggestions from the different threads. I've deinstalled and reinstalled as Administrator. I've tried modifying the registry entries as administrator. I've tried uninstalling itunes and quicktime and just installing quicktime. Same error on trying to launch just quicktime. Is there a log file that identifies what causes a -2093. (BTW only one copy of QTCF.dll in the qtsystem).

After install quicktime fails to load with a -2093 code and a message to reinstall. I've tried most of the suggestions from the different threads.
Just doublechecking here. Does your 2093 not mention anything about QTCF.dll at all? (There's a few different possible flavors of the 2093.)

  • Error 2093 attempting to run Quicktime (Windows 7 64 bit)

    Hi, first time post.
I have a HP Pavilion running Windows 7 64 bit (not sure about SP number). Anyway, after installing Quicktime I'm getting the 2093 error when attempting to run it. I see 2 entries of the .qts file, one under c:\program files (x86)\QuickTime\QTSystem, and C:\Windows\SysWow64. I've done the steps recommended several times, run uninstall, make sure there in nothing in \temp, but problem persists. I did a search but did not find a prev. issue similar to mine.
