When I double click on the tool bar on the bottom of the black screen on fox tab, adobe settings shows up. I delete adobe then the black screen shows the fox tab again and says to view it I need to down load the latest version of adobe flash player.

Tylerdowner, as a moderator, one would think that, prior to adjusting comments/solutions, especially when not having a Mac, you would do more research (bet you know someone with a Mac, to duplicate problem), or pass responding on to a moderator who does have a Mac (I am amazed that you are even a moderator on Mac problems/situations, if you only have access to a PC). Had the solutions above worked, I would not have needed to figure out another solution (we all know the newest release of anything is the most secure). Finally I am open to any fixes (tested) that you can provide, that improve upon mine. As a moderator, maybe you have pull with the Foxtab and/or Adobe people to get them to work out compatibility, and lastly, maybe add a warning at the Foxtab add-ons page, after verifying the problem yourself, with an associate's/friend's Mac.

I'm using Mac OS 10.7.5 Snow Leopard and while installing Flash Player it stops and tells me to quit Dashboard Clinet. I feel your pain and have a solution that should work. I have been battling this for several weeks now, finally gave up, and wrapped up a call with an Apple engineer an hour or so ago. Come to find out, regardless of what the O/S tells you in Activity Monitor about Safari, Dashboard, or both "not" running, these processes are in fact being called. It seems that, at least in my case, on an up-to-date OS X / Safari combo, and with The Weather Channel widget installed, you will never get the newest Adobe Flash Player update to install. As soon as you remove The Weather Channel widget, the Adobe Flash update process will again work normally. It makes absolutly no sense, but I and the Apple engineer were able to reproduce the fix on my two systems and completely reproduce the issue and the fix on his. Not certain where the "blame" for the issue rests, but I suspect this is a issue with The Weather Channel widget - or at least how it is interacting with the O/S and Safari. I suggest checking for any installed/active widgets that grab/stream any soft of content via the web, removing them, and re-running the Flash updater. I hope this helps. I have repeatedly attempted to install the most current version of Adobe Flash Player in my 10.8.4 Mac without success. Actually it installs, but does not give me opportunity to accept your terms (which I am willing to do). When I try to open a file, it is black. What do I have to do to get this to work properly?

I really appreciate your assistance.... I installed firefox. I have MAC version 10.5.8... I think I should have stated that on my prior post......sorry.
The version of firefox I installed on this mac works until I attempt to use a app that requires flash. I updated the flash player with the correct version that firefox requires.
to no avail will the plugin update. when attempting to update the plugins, I get a message from firefox telling me that I do not have the required system in the mac in order to update the plugins.
So...I am going to continue to investigate and analyze where I am going wrong in my attempts to reinstall adobe flash on this mac....
I will keep you apprised to my outcome. Any further assistance that you may possibly provide me would be Great!!

HP Support Assistant stopped working after HP Network Check Helper was installed

My computer model: HP Pavilion SlimLine s5-1160 desktop with Windows 7 64-bit Media Center
While I was away from my computer this morning HP installed HP Network Check Helper. When I returned there was a message that I needed to restart the computer. Upon restarting I received the same message. After trying several more times I disabled the helper using Manage Add-ons, but the restart computer message keeps appearing. When I tried to open HP Support Assistant it would not open, but instead the restart message popped up. In HP Setup Manager I clicked on Get Assistance, then Launch Support Assistant, and got....the restart message. If I open HP's Windows Help and Support and click on "Contact Support (Get in touch with someone at HP)" I get....the restart message. I re-installed HP Support Assistant with the latest version on the the HP website. Upon restarting the computer I got....the restart message.
So, the computer keeps telling me I need to restart it, HP Support Assistant will not open, and I can't obtain an HP support number to call by clicking on "Contact Support (Get in touch with someone at HP)". Does anyone know a number I can call to "Get in touch with someone at HP"?

For the longest time flash player will not install (updates for upgrades).
If I go to the main page I can download the 1mb file then open it up and the installer box opens but never does anything and is just black except the top bar. I can't even close it out. I have to "end task" it. I has been going on for a year or so. I usually have to find a link to the full installer version but can't find it anymore.

The installer works for the vast majority of people. We serve up something like 1.2 billion installs every months, so a failure rate of even 0.0001 is > 100,000 people. We're not seeing that kind of traffic about this issue.
As the installer isn't dependent on Flash Player, and it doesn't leave anything around beyond a log file, it's unlikely that blowing Flash Player completely away would resolve anything, and it sounds like your efforts bear that out. There's something underneath us that's not working right. With Mac, it's usually corrupted NVRAM settings, but I'm not sure what it is on Windows. My guess is that it's related to the graphics subsystem, but it's not something that I've seen happen under lab conditions, and we'd need to debug it to get a definitive answer.
So, I have a couple suggestions in order of least to most effort:
Switch to Google Chrome.
Flash Player is a built-in component, so there's nothing separate to download or maintain. Updates happen automatically as part of the standard Chrome update process, so you never have to touch another Adobe installer if you don't want to.
Scan your hard disk for errors, run the Windows system file checker, and make sure you have the latest graphics drivers for your system
Check your hard disk for errors in Windows 7
Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files
Back up all of your stuff (ideally to both a disk and an online backup service for redundancy), wipe the machine and do a fresh install of Windows

That is not a perfect solution. Because If someone does not have flash activeX installed and if he downloads only activeX component .ocx file and use regsvr32 <path_TO_ActiveX> then he will be successfully able to register activeX . So now pc is having activeX and still machine will not have C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash folder so checking only for folder is not a solution.

Copying the program over to a new machine will not work. Install it using installation files and activate it using the serial number assigned to the license.

I have had the same problem for WEEKS and I cannot access any sites that use Flash. Flash has been installed on this computer since I bought it in 2012. I have allowed auto updates but for weeks the updates never get past Step 2 - is this because I do NOT want the Google Tool bar? I use NO tool bars as there is only 6 inches of vertical screen space. Is this because I uncheck wanting Chrome as a default browser? It is already installed, I just don't use it. I came to this site and ran the check is it installed and the system says it is either not installed or not enabled. Version 14 just downloaded about 30 minutes ago - but did not progress to Step 3 although a pop up screen came up with a finish button, which I clicked. WHAT is the problem and how do I fix it? If this were just a compatibility bug between IE11 and Adobe they have had plenty of time to fix it.
