Foxfire version 22 is a disaster

Version 22 has numerous defects. I wonder how this happened since it has ALWAYS been so dependable. Copy and paste functions won't work or are erratic. The web pages are over large and "blooming" sometimes appear "out of focus." These issues began immediately with downloading of version 22.
Will these issues be corrected?
This is true on both of my computers, one using Vista OS and the other Windows 7. If I switch to the IE OS (ugh!) these issues are NOT present.
Very experienced computer user/operator with 20 years experience.

Out of focus, too large, but main problem is gmail does not fit to screen. The suggested solution of changing the Windows XP display from large to small will work for gmail. However, the Windows XP fonts are too small. When I change the Windows XP display from small to large, gmail reverts to hugeness, doesn't fit to screen, and is fuzzy. I won't be changing from gmail and really don't want to change to Internet Explorer. Any suggestions?
Can I revert to Firefox 21?

  • Foxfire version 3.6.8 verus version 12?

I have been trying to solve a problem and help answers do not seem to match what I have 3.6.8, like Help>About Mozilla, there is no update tab, etc. I have one sight that says I need Foxfire 25? and I see version 12 referred to, but where do I get it? I have Win7, 64 bit OS.

hello, firefox 27.0.1 is the latest version available - you should always use the latest version to stay secure on the web. you can download firefox from here: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/
since you appear to have adware addons in your profile, you might also want to try the following after updating:
    # [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems|reset firefox]] (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
    # run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] and [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner] to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.

  • Alternatives to Final Cut Pro (the new version is a disaster)

Okay, like millions of others that have been setting your hair on fire since the bizarre version of iMovie Pro, or sorry, I mean Final Cut Pro, I will need to migrate my work to a different editing application. I will obviously use Final Cut Studio 3 for a few more months before I uninstall that too.
So let us discuss alternatives that you all recommend. The closest one that I can find is Adobe Premiere as it resembles final cuts interface. What are your experiences with it?
I have already purchased Avid for our media studio to replace FCP but are considering other applications too. Any recommendations would be highly appreciated.
And please do not try to advertise FCP X as a good product when it isn't. I have given up hope on the FCP application because I cannot see Apple releasing a version for it that will be an "upgrade" of the pro series, rather than a massive downgrade like the X version.

Haven't you heard?  Apple is going to fix everything that's missing and/or broken with their new, ground breaking software!!  I so excited I can't wait.
btw, I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale.  Any takers?
I hope that you are being sarcastic there. In fact, I can't find a reason why you wouldn't be. It is absurd to expect us to wait for Apple to add whatever that is missing. So... we wait a year or two for a new FCP, and we are given a light version of it. Now, while the competitors are evolving with media technology, Apple is "fixing" what is broken and missing. Does that sound like the type of company you want to bet your career on?
I have been using Macs since the very old black and white Mac CE ones. And I have been a part of the evolution of all their OS version and also all the FCP versions. Yes, I even have the original FCP v1 on an old harddrive somewhere. The production company that I have been running here in the UK have been using OSX and FCP for over 10 years now. By being a part of Apple's entire product release journey, this is by far the worse upgrade (if we can even call it that) in history.
It is as if someone from Adobe came into their office, disguised as the manager for their creative direction, and told the team "Hey guys, lets just remove stuff from FCP until it reaches a point where it equals iMovie and we are set to go!". Then this Adobe character goes back to his real office and says "Hey, look at those dumb Apple people falling for this trick, there is one main competitor drained in the toilet!". I can't see this going in any different way. I say that Apple needs to focus their resources on the person who made the decision of making FCP X... I can assure them that with proper research, they will find that that individual is not who they say they are. Well, it is either that, or this individual is the biggest idiot that the company have hired... ever... but I didn't want to say that directly, as that would be rude.

  • Ikea won't let you download their kitchen planner unless you have Foxfire version 3.5.7 or older. Is there a safe place to download the old 3.5.7 version?

When you hit the "Install" button it swings you back to make you agree to the terms again. The program never gives you the option to "Run" or "Save" it.

Works for me if I start a Windows version of Firefox 4 or Firefox 6 (Aurora) via Wine on Linux. So the Firefox version doesn't seem to be the problem. I can't test it on Windows, but does work on Linux with Firefox 4.0.1 if I override navigator.platform to Win32.
    How is your computer reported?

  • Problem I keep seeing messages Foxfire is out of Date BUT I have version 30.0

I go on to Facebook, it says Foxfire (version 30.0) is out of Date. I go to use Hulu or Crackle and again it says Foxfire is out of Date. I go to mozilla Support at the top, left side of the screen it says, "Your Foxfire is out of date and may contain a security risk".
While in Foxfire to check which version is on my Desktop PC by clicking on Help then scroll down to ABOUT Foxfire it says: 30.0 Foxfire IS up to date.
I do use Google Chrome however my TomTom GPS will NOT allow me to upload maps on Chrome but works fine with Foxfire.
Also a problem, Google's GMail will NOT allow me to open any of my E Mails on Foxfire. So am I using the latest version of Foxfire or not.
IF I am NOT using the latest of version of Foxfire please provide the link for the correct download.
Thanks in advance ~ CuriousVirg ~

  • I'm missing the "foxfire" button. It's simply not there and I need to re-import my IE favorites, but I can't becasue the new upgrade forces you, (me), to use a button that simply is not there at the top left where it should be but isn't.

Well that's pretty much it. The foxfire help page, now that I've upgraded to the newest version says to look for the "foxfire" button at the top left which would be located in the blue bar that instead still tells me what the name of that particular page is that I am viewing, just as it always has but there is no "foxfire button there for me to click on in order to get my bookmarks, my favorites re-imported from IE version 6.0. I actually installed them via the instructions under foxfire version 6.0 a month ago originally without any problem, and then again on version 7.0 after I recently rebuilt this machine using windows 2000 professional and everything got imported Okay except for one file... And of course it was the most important folder, my favorites folder which I had named "business" because it was the folder which contained all my links that I need for "business". So naturally, I am eagerly awaiting a reply to tell me what it is that I need to do. Could it be as simple as I have not re-booted since I upgraded earlier today/yesterday? That actually IS a possibility I suppose because I don't remember re-booting afterward or being told to in or after the process of upgrading. After the upgrade, there simply was not any indication that I needed to. (As I recall anyhow!) It's currently one in the morning and that was twelve hours ago. But I honestly don't think that I was instructed to after clicking on "install" the new version. But if it did tell me to afterward, I'm sure I must have even though I don't remember it as my extensive history with personal computing and installing everything from hardware to software including operating systems tells me that if it had told me to re-boot, I would have.
    Thank you in advance,
    Eric G.

You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar
You can make '''Firefox 7.0.1''' look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered '''items 1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 8.0, look like 3.6)]. • Working on a file in CC created in previous versions

I work at a printing company and we get files from hundreds of different clients. Our preflight person that starts every job want to open every job in CC and use CC regardless of what version it was created in. I think this is a bad practice and we should use the version the customer used. If it were created in CS5 on the PC it should be done there not in CC on the mac just because it can. I have seen to many case where things have just not flowed exactly the same when changing versions, platforms, or font types. What are your thoughts on this. If a customer sends a Mac job done using CS5 and Helvetica Type 1 fonts should we be doing it in CC with Helvetica open type fonts?

    You are 100% correct.
It's probably OK to switch platforms if the fonts are all OT or Windows format TT if you can't work with the same OS, but switching versions is a disaster waiting to happen.

  • I was asked to update my Foxfire which I did but at one point it said I would be prompted to move the Foxfire icon into the applications folder and I was never prompted to do so, therefore I do not know what to do next.

The new Foxfire version was downloaded into my download folder but I was never prompted, as it said I would be , so move the Foxfire icon into the applications folder. Therefore I do not know where the process stands. It old icon in my dock upgraded or has nothing happeded. It seems as if the process somehow just stopped in the middle.

Outside of the contact number for that you've already used I don't know another way of direct contact. Here are some things that they may or may not of had you try that might help you. If you will go to the settings app and pick general on the right-hand side you will see accessibility. Within that you can adjust a text size make the text bowl you can also increase the contrast. You can also adjust the brightness and control panel.
As for Siri again in the settings app under general you should see Siri on the right-hand side with the switch to turn it on. If that is turned on and you're still having issues
    Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
     Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.
Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.

  • CS6: Converting PMS to Process for files to be printed 4 Color Process

As the owner of Ripe Inc, a brand design firm, this is proving to be a big problem for us. I've searched forums looking for a solution and read lots of discussions about how the PMS color palettes "simulate" on screen how the color will print on different substrates (glossy vs matte vs uncoated paper). That's great for comps, but if you convert it to CMYK to print it, and the values are representing a "simulated" color it won't look correct (by that I mean come close to matching the spot color). For example, the uncoated palette simulates the color by making them appear a bit washed out on screen - pretty good visual simulation. But it might do so by adding black and cyan to orange for example, etc. - effectively dulling the original color. So if I convert that to CMYK within the new Pantone + color palette, and then send it to the printer - it won't appear as it did on screen, it will dull the end color even more because it's converted the color to the dull simulated version - what a disaster! It's only doing half the job - showing us what it should look like on screen. In order to be truly efficient for design professionals the CMYK conversion might remove black and cyan completely to effectively brighten the color in the final output on uncoated paper. I would prefer it just stick to the standard conversion, which Pantone did have as a standard palette option (PMS to process), and then I can adjust if I think it's necessary.
Any corporate branding system will likely start with a PMS spot color palette for the identity. Then it will build into many different adaptations - full color brochures, large format banners and trade show graphics, website, advertising. So any corporate branding system will need to have PMS, CMYK and RGB versions of their main corporate color palette. There was a standard for these translations that was automatically consistent in the Adobe software and that is now all over the place, so it relies on individuals manually adapting the color mixes for final use - what a great way to screw things up. Please advise.

Not exactly.  You're basicly talking about screen color generation which is hardly ever accurate and a typical desktop print scenario.  When it comes to offset printing, the file should be built to whatever the print vendor requires.  So, when you "communicate" with the print vendor, they can work with you on achieving the results you are looking to achieve.  In your establishing the color for a brand identity guide, the Spot color is the main reference color, with Pantone's CMYK equivalents found in their Pantone Color Guides ( the printed version with conversion numbers for Coated, Uncoated, and Matte.  You can realistically expect to minimalize deviates if you stick to those numbers, some which have not been reformulated for quite some time.  In a professional workflow and a calibrated workflow, a RIP will be used via a proofer printer ( inkjet ) where the RIP converts the Spot color.  In your case, you'd assign the Pantone 166 in the file which is sent to the RIP and then onto the print proofer.  Someone off in la la land may get ahold of the file and do their own conversion and then send it off to their generic, non-postscript desktop office printer.  Usually in that scenario, the print driver cannot deal with Spot color and the user is forced to convert to CMYK.  The color swatch libraries found in Adobe applications can handle the conversion if the user is savvy enough to use the swatch system.  Or, they can use your CMYK equivalents which you have assigned in your Branding Guide ( based on Pantone's printed color guide ).  Pantone has made recent updates challenging to average users.  You are being frustrated by those updates and are being led around by software application color conversion methods.  In the case of RGB and hex code deviates, pantone has done a good job supplying you and everyone else with those numbers on their web site.  I understand your frustration, but try to relax and settle with the 166 = 0C, 64M, 100Y, 0K conversion numbers.  Also, it may not be necessary to include Uncoated equivalents because those will only deviate via whatever paper is used in whatever printer is being used.  A 0C, 64M, 100Y,0K will print different on a coated glossy sheet than it would on a 20lb copier sheet with a different whiteness and different weight and different opaqueness, never mind different inkjets, laser printers, or color copiers.  You cannot control those scenarios, so why pull your hair out on Color Bridge deviates?  The only control you have is how you communicate the color in your Branding Guide, which should be the 166 / 0C, 64M, 100Y, 0K numbers.  End it there.  Those are industry standard color numbers that should hold up on any reasonably good output device.

  • Silverlight/Netflix/ MAC OS X LEOPARD 10.5

I have a MackBook Version 10.411! About two days ago I got a pop in reference to "Silverlight" asking to disable it. (So I did) I had no idea it was connected to "Netflix" No I am unable to see any movies. Plus Apple no longer has Mac os x 10.5 version my computer is now asking for! How can I fix this terrible problem with out it costing me everything I have? is it possible to go back to the older silverlight version before this disaster! PLEASE HELP! THANK YOU.

With SilverLight, Microsoft attempted to create their own version of what a replacement for Flash could be - but not to universal acclaim. You can read more about it here:
    http://silverlight.net/
So, if you go to any sites that have been designed for this new Silverlight stuff, you can download the plug-in from here (but make certain that you are downloading SilverLight v.1.0 for OS X (10.4.8 upwards) if you are using a PPC Mac, but even this will not work with Safari 4. Version 2 only works with Intel Macs and does work with Safari 4/5. The solution is to download and install the latest version of Flip4Mac, which now includes a Silverlight component:
    http://dynamic.telestream.net/downloads/download-flip4macwmv.htm
But the latest news is that Microsoft will probably abandon Silverlight in favour of HTML5:

don't know if your question was serious ... the map app comes pre-installed with iOS. So there's no way back. Anyway I agree that the new version is a disaster.

  • ITUNES v8 keeps CRASHING on Vista, I've tried EVERYTHING

I never had these problems with any of the Version 7...this is only started happening with Version 8. I can play my music but I cannot launch the Podcast function..the second I click on it, I get the "Itunes has stopped working" message from Windows and it shuts down immediately.
I have tried everything recommended. Deleted all Apple files, reloaded multiple times. I have tried deleting just the Quicktime and reloading independantly, no luck there either.
I tried loading a new version with no links to any music or podcasts, basically a blank version, and even that one crashes the second I click on "Podcast"
Any ideas??? Why is this version such a disaster with Vista?? I see multiple other problems listed on this blog too. When is Apple going to fix this mess?

I had the same problem. same codes ect on vista.
It did my head in, so after 5 days I have Itunes working again.
So hope this will help some one out there.
I have got around this by:-
firstly save the itunes xml library, so its safe this has all the information about your folders files and where songs are so is important.
now totally remove itunes and quick player. I used uninstall function.
now your computer is itunes free,
I used a usb memory stick and loaded Itunes743 setup on to it.
now loaded up the 7.4.3 itunes. NOT version 8!!
now go in to FILE, IMPORT and load you old Itunes library.
and bingo working itunes is working.
    thanks Morris

Intuit's Quicken won't work with Lion.  Installed and am using Quicken Essentials but it's not as convenient.

this has been an issue with Quicken for a long time! Quicken was initially a Mac only application and then they got greedy! i beta-tested Quicken for Intuit for years and when they announced they were not going to support it any more the screaming was loud but not heard!
Quicken Essentials is a crime! i wasn't even asked to beta-test it; probably because they would have gotten an earful!!! it is not essential; it is stupid.... AND, of course, their online version was a disaster. i use Quickbooks Online for business and it works like a charm; i mean it even downloads ignominious PayPal transactions now!
i am also stupid for not really checking out if it would work with Lion - ALL of my financials are on it. I am going to have to do what @cwiens suggested above and either pull out an old Macbook I have or my well stored original Cube in its original box! thank the fates for the double backup i've always done with Quicken - Time Machine & its own key drive!
btw, this is an old Microsoft trick - not having older versions of apps work on OS updates so they force you to buy the new versions.
