FP9 won't install after uninstall

I'm using swfobject and expressinstall to load a Flash8
movie.
I have expressinstall working in Firefox, but not in IE7.
The Adobe autoupdater loads the update files but Flash Player
can't be found.
Here's my HTML:
<div id="fcmain">
<div id="fctext">
No Flash Content
</div>
</div>
<script type="text/javascript">
// <![CDATA[
var version = deconcept.SWFObjectUtil.getPlayerVersion();
if (document.getElementById && (version['major'] >
8)) {
var so = new SWFObject("fddmain.swf", "fddmain", "1100",
"660", "9", "#FFFFFF");
so.addParam("quality", "high");
so.addParam("wmode", "opaque");
so.addParam("allowscale", "true");
so.addParam("allowscriptaccess", "samedomain");
so.addParam("swliveconnect", "true");
so.write("fcmain");
else
if (document.getElementById && (version['major'] <
8)) {
var so = new SWFObject("fddmain.swf", "fddmain", "740",
"140", "9", "#FFFFFF");
so.addParam("quality", "high");
so.addParam("wmode", "opaque");
so.addParam("allowscale", "true");
so.addParam("allowscriptaccess", "samedomain");
so.addParam("swliveconnect", "true");
so.useExpressInstall('expressinstall.swf');
so.write("fctext");
// ]]>
</script>
I start by running "fp_6.0.65_activex.exe" to generate
"Flash.ocx", and copy "Flash.ocx" into
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash".
When I test with expressinstall.html, it shows that FP6 is
the current player and I get the Flash 9 updater prompt that goes
to ""
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/update/current/swf/autoUpdater.swf"
when I click yes.
So all is fine up to that point.
But when I get redirected to the Adobe Flash Player install
page the Flash movie that's supposed to run during the installation
doesn't appear, and so it never reports that the installation was
complete. The page simply loads without the install movie and
reports "Done" in the lower left corner. It never goes back to
index.php and reloads my flash movie (the way Firefox does).
In addition, the Adobe install page copies the following
files into "C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash"
"Flash9c.ocx", "FlashUtil9c.exe", "install.log",
"uninstall_activeX.exe". These appear to be the correct files. The
installation also leaves behind "Flash.ocx" which is from the
version 6.0.65 installation.
If I run expressinstall.html again it reports that there is
no Flash Player installed.
I've also removed this folder from the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayer\SafeVersions.
(As per TechNote 4da116d3)

Has anyone else run into this?

Back up all data if you haven’t already done so. Before proceeding, you must be sure you can restore your system to the state it’s in now.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
sudo chflags -R 0 /Applications/Firefox.app
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command.
Try the installation again. If it works, you can quit Terminal.

  • Firefox won't install after uninstall

    Hey all,
    I just bought a new 2012 rMBP and a local authorized computer repair shop transfered over my data from my old laptop, which was a macbook as well. The only reason i had them do it is because my old laptop was subject to severe water damage, and I had no way to access the HDD
    Anyway, he transfered over my apps, files, and everything. Firefox was transfered over as well. I uninstalled firefox by dragging it from the applications menu to the trash, and then downloaded the current copy (the one that was installed on my old laptop was 6 releases behind). I go to install the newly downloaded copy and it tells me there is already a firefox installed, and i can replace, leave it alone, or stop. If I pick "replace" it gives me a message of:
    "The operation can’t be completed because some items had to be skipped. For each item, choose File > Get Info, make sure “Locked” is deselected, and then check the Sharing & Permissions section. When you are sure the items are unlocked and not designated as Read Only or No Access, try again."
    I've searched for firefox files and there are none.
    Where do I go from here?

  • FCS 2 won't install after uninstalling FCS 3

    Hi
    I had FCS 3 but needed to downgrade back to 2 for a project. I did a complete uninstall using the FCS Remover and have check the receipts folder and all other folders from every google search alive The computer is clean of all Final Cut files but when I put the disc in to install, Final Cut and some other program are greyed out and display a skip and will not install. Anyone have this issue or know what to do? I've tried everything.
    Thanks!

    When my friend Erin upgraded from 5 to 6, she only upgraded FCP, not all of FCStudio, and when she went from 6 to 7 she again only installed FCP, not all of FCstudio.
    This is a very bad way to do it. Final Cut Studio is dependent upon many different shared files and frameworks, and is very fussy about QuickTime versions. Consequently, it is important to keep all of the application versions in sync with each other or you will experience problems.
    krgarty wrote:
    So when she used FCS remover she only selected to uninstall FCP. Now, when she tries to reinstall 6, FCP as an option is still greyed out. Do you think the problem is rooted in the fact that she didn't do a clean uninstall of everything- are there secret '7' files attached to other software even though she choose not to upgrade them? Just a thought. Thanks
    I would recommend that she choose everything, not just FCP. It's likely that some files in the Shared Files section were preventing it from being reinstalled, but she'd be much better off just removing everything and then reinstalling all components of FCS 3.

  • Flash won't install after downloading...early 2013 MBP/Retina, 8GB DDR3 1600 MHz Ram, 3GHz Intel Core i7 Processor (clean installation)

    Flash Player won’t install after downloading
    On the first attempt to install v14, Flash Player v13 was installed and working fine.
    I opened the installation package for the new Flash Player, followed standard protocol for installing Mac software and it hung before retrieving anything.
    Subsequently, while watching the beach ball spin, I got an error message that the installer could not retrieve the v13 Flash Player software.
    So I uninstalled Flash Player 13 and again attempted to install v14, only to see the spinning beach ball followed by a message that the installer could not retrieve the v14 Flash Player software.
    I am running OS X v10.9.4 on an early 2013 MBP/Retina display with 3GHz Intel Core i7 processor and 8GB DDR3 1600 MHz Ram.
    If you have any ideas or suggestions regarding my issue, please let me know.
    Sincerely.

  • Mac book pro won't install or uninstall programs

    I have a mac book pro, running OSX 10.7.5.  When I try to instill Java, or any program for that matter,  it takes me to the download screen, asks me for my password and then does nothing.  Will not install.  I tried to uninstall a program as well and the same thing happens.  Won't install or uninstall.  Any ideas?

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
    Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
    While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
    After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
    Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
    Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
    After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

I am so glad i always keep older versions on hand because many times new versions are buggy or just do not work NOTE TO APPLE DO NOT FIX IT IF IT AINT BROKE comes to mind ... the older just work and the new junk fails don't they test the programs anymore? accross the dif supported platforms? whlth all these peole having the same problems I would say they botched the program code or installer.
    It says after the install there is a newer version great after waisting all this time I will not be updating till they claime and prove they have a big prob and fix it and then test it compleatly.
    Important my problem started on first installing Itunes ona newely set up XP comp so I had no settings or anything and did not care a full uninstall worked for me. Not sure with those that have tons of stuff allready in the iTunes system,
    Complete working version 10.0.0.68 works fine in win XP Pro ...

  • Flash player won't install after Antivirus8

    I had the Antivirus8 problem this week.  Malwarebytes seems to have uninstalled it.  I have also run Eset Online Scanner and Microsoft malicious remover tool.  They all now say I'm clean.  But my flash player no longer works.  I have turned off my AVG 9.0 (why didn't it catch the virus!!), and have downloaded the flash uninstaller and the installer.  Ran them both, rebooting inbetween.  flash player seems to install, but when I go to the adobe test site i get the red x instead of the video showing that the flash player is working.  Online sites that require flash player do not work either.
    This all is new since the antivirus 8.  I never had a problem with flash before.  I am running Windows 7 Home, 64 bit, and internet explorer  I also have mozilla firefox.  I have tried using the  both IE 32 bit and IE 64 bit, as well as firefox, and all say that flash needs to be installed.

  • ITunes won't install or uninstall. :(

    Howdy one and all,
    I've scoured your forums for an answer but I'm not really getting anywhere. :/
    I wanted to install iTunes 7 to help fix my ipod (which subsequently fixed itself) but this message comes up each time.
    So I removed Quicktime from the programmes folder, then iTunes refused to work. I also removed the iTunes folder.
    Then i tried to install Quicktime by itself, and that won't install either.
    I keep going into control panel and there are 2 ipods and 2 itunes, and none of them will uninstall for me, they just blink and then stay there.
    I've checked my task manager, and there is no ipod services running.
    Does anyone have a notion as to what is going on?
    Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!!

    Very strange.
    Ok you might want to clean out your temp folder before running the install. Then reboot and try to clean the rest in there.
    Here is a more detail instruction for cleaning the temp:
    Clean out your temp folders, Delete as much as you can in these folders except for the folders Cookies, History, Temporary Internet Files.
    a. C:\windows\temp (if one exists)
    b. C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Local Settings\Temp
    Sometimes installers will pick up old files or won’t delete their temporary files.
    Make sure you have the latest MSI engine.

  • Can't re-install after uninstall

    I was told by the developer of an App Store app to uninstall + re-install his app, iNet.  After uninstalling + re-starting, my App Store shows that the app is installed, even though it's not listed in my Applications.  How can I re-install?

    The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
    The Mac App Store can see apps on other partitions and drives. So if there is a copy of the app on another drive the MAS can see it and believes that the app is installed. Disconnect other drives and unmount any other partitions and you should then be able to download the app.

  • Updated and now the ipod communication software won't install or uninstall

    After updating to the newest itunes (biggest mistake ever) the ipod communication files cannot be installed or uninstalled. I keep getting the same error message despite countless attempts to fix the install, uninstall and reinstall, install manually...
    itunes does not recognize my ipods when they are plugged in, and I've now gone over a week without being able to sync them...completely worthless!

    Not sure what exactly you did; your description is a bit confusing. What I suggest you do (assuming you want the English version for Windows)
    *Download the installer from http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.0/enu/AdbeRdr90_en_US.exe (or from http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.0/enu/AdbeRdr90_en_US_Std.exe if you don't want Adobe AIR and Acrobat.com)
    *Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
    *Run the utility and remove any Adobe Reader references
    *Run the Adobe Reader installer

  • Grub won't install after reformat from gentoo install (error 18)

    Previously I had gentoo installed with grub in the / partition in sdb2 (hd1,1).  I got through the arch install after reformatting that jfs partition except grub wouldn't install because it said the "Selected Cylinder exceeds maximum supported by BIOS".  I didn't change any partitioning so I don't understand how that would be possible.
    I ran fdisk to fix the partition order, but it didn't have anything to fix.  Another oddity is that when I try to boot up, I get a grub command prompt with no errors, and that mapping is different (sdb is hd0).  I can't really change my partitions, because sdb1 is a 1.5+ tb partition and I don't have room to backup the data.

    Well I found a workaround for my problem.  It's not ideal, but I installed grub to sdb1, which is a home partition instead of sdb2 (my /).

  • IE 11 won't install or uninstall

    I have one Windows 7 64 bit machine that keeps getting offered IE 11. IE 11 is already installed on the computer. I went Installed Updates and tried to remove IE 11 and got an error message "An error has occurred. Not all of the updates were successfully
    uninstalled" I then downloaded Internet Explorer 11 hoping that I could install and do a repair on it. I got the message "Setup can't continue because a more recent version of Internet Explorer is installed on the computer".
    Internet Explorer does work on the machine.
    I went through every forum I could find and did not find a solution. Has anyone got an idea how to fix this.

    I have ran the system readiness tool and it acts like it has fixed everything but then I get the same failed results installing and uninstalling. I did look at the cbs.log and here is a section that has errors can someone tell me what is going on.

    okay. let's try the following technique.
    Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. then use it to clear any existing QuickTime installation configuration information from your PC:
    Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
    Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
    does an itunes install go through properly after trying that?

  • Firefox stopped working and won't install after I uninstall and reinstall.

    Firefox stopped working one day. It would not load anything. I followed the directions and completely uninstalled and then reinstalled Firefox. It goes through the process and then says Firefox will load momentarily. It never does. Also, what do you have against hiring people to answer questions in person?

    It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
    Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
