FPGA - RIO Evaluation Board - Using the LCD Display

I have the NI LabVIEW RIO Evaluation Board and am trying to find information on using the LCD display. Does anyone know of any documentation/app notes? Thanks in advance.

I failed to mention that I didn't install the software that came with the evaluation kit. The reason being, I already have LabVIEW and all the modules installed. I was not about to overwrite my perfectly good installation even if the instructions on the box tell me it is perfectly safe to do so.
If there are examples with the kit, then they are buried in an installer/cab file and not directly accessible by simply looking at the CD/DVD contents. I should install the evaluation software onto a virtual machine and see what is revealed.
I'll take a look at the LCD Module this evening and see if it provides any clues.

Hello,
I was wondering if it is "ok" to keep my Powerbook display closed while using my LCD display. Are there any advantages/disadvantages? Is it better for the screen life of the PB? Is it keeping heat in? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks much.

I would have a tendency to agree with Tom Fussy, as I also noticed this page from Apple:

This page most specifically speaks to using the system with the lid closed, and so I figure it must be okay. Personally AppleCare is on my system, so if it fries following what is posted on the Apple Website, it concerns me not, as I would just take it into Apple for repair. However, I understand a person would not want to do something he knew would cause a failure to the hardware anyway, if not for the minimum of an inconvenience of being without the laptop while it is being repaired.

Mega 180 using the LCD with Linux

Hi all,
is it possible to use the LCD of my MEGA 180 with Linux? I am using 2.6.9-rc2, would be cool to the see LCD working under Linux, too.

There are several forum members working on customising the LED display for the MEGA 180, including myself. The biggest problem at the moment is the lack of information about the hardware specifications of the display. The blueprints of the exact module are definately NOT released by MSI , but perhaps that specifications of very similar displays are also usable. Another problem that's next in line, is going to be that we will need someone who is into hardware programming. First lets wait for a definitive answer about the blueprints. I'll let you know when more info becomes available.

Works fine at 1280X800 (with out without MDP DL DVI Adapter) - cannot get any higher resolution

The MacBook Air 11 inch late-2010 model does support 2560 x 1600 resolution on an external display. See this specifications article for reference -

Drag applications from your main desktop off the right side of the screen and they will appear on the TV. This is the extended desktop mode.

How can I detect displays?
If the detect displays option is not available, hold down the Option key while you are in the Display pane.
How do I select additional resolutions on my display?
You can use the Display pane of System Preferences to specify how your display works. Not all options appear for all display models. By default the best resolution for your display will already be selected in System Preferences.
To select a different resolution, use the Scaled option. Some additional resolutions may be available when you hold the Option button.

to get to the Detect Displays button you have to hold down the Option key and the button appears.

Go to: *System Preferences > Displays* and select the Arrangement tab, then relocate your Menu bar by dragging it to the other display.
Unfortunately there is no Hardware or Software switch to turn off the iMac's Internal Display.

I think it's possible to do that and to do communicate the OpenGL application with the Labview Interface using an ActiveX but I don't know how. Can someone help me ?The desired behavior you desribed may not be possible with that application. In general LabVIEW does not offer a window object that other standalone applications can run it. The closest thing is the ActiveX container. If the programmers for your application created an activeX control of your program and they provided documentation, it should be pretty easy to incorperate the app and labview into one window. I recommend contacting the manufacuturer of the app to see if they have an activeX control version of the app.

How to use the cinema display while your Macbook is closed

How do I use the cinema display while my Macbook is closed? Whenever I close the laptop the display shuts off as well. I really don't need them both to be on. That defeats the purpose of the external display. when I am home I want to use the laptop like it is the desktop computer.

I am using a MB Pro and a 23" cinema display. Have a wired USB keyboard and a USB wireless mouse connected through the keyboard. When the MBP is closed and when I restart it, the wireless mouse is frozen and the keyboard does not respond. I have to reopen the MBP, use the trackpad mouse, restart again and hope it will work closed. There doesn't seem to be a consistent way to make it work.

I'm a beginner in LCDS.
I have a MySQL database for my ordering system. In this database there is a user table and there are some other tables. These tables use foreign keys of user.id. People can register on my sytem (+1 row in a user table). I communicate throught web services in my mobile application. People can see only their own rows (own orders) (it is defined by the user.id).
I would like to improve my mob.app. with offline, sync, and real time changings features.
Can I use the LCDS for my system?

Server: Apache Tomcat 7
Web Services: Java WS, and it is protected with Custom Basic Authentication. The session contains user.id after the successful authentication.

Having trouble auto-focusing using the digital display.

My Rebel T3 seems to have problem auto-focusing indoors when using the digital display . Seems to work fine using the viewfinder.

Live View focusing is always going to be very slow. It is not just your camera.

You could always do that as long as you could connect all the displays.
What you are now describing is Airplay where the data is streamed to the AppleTV. The connection no longer has to be a physical cable.

Program NI boards using the DAQ Libary and Borland C++ builder 5

I am programming Lab PC-1200 NI boards using the DAQ Libary and Borland C++ builder 5.
But I get the following error msg:"[Linker Error] 'C:\NI-DAQ\LIB\NIDEX32.LIB' contains invalid OMF record, type 0x21 (possibly COFF)" although I have linked all DAQ lib files in C builder.
Anyone who had tried or succeeded in a similar application and solved this problem??

The basic reason is that we design our libraries for many environments, but Builder is not one of them. You can use the dll's (they're just dll's), but you will need to make your own library or use run-time linking.
