Fps trouble

yeah i have a bfg nvidia 6800 gt and i'm not getting the fps that i think i should be(all these fps are on Counter Strike source).  Normally on avg i get about 70fps but in certain areas i only get 30 fps and 40fps ( when in open areas and when a lot of players or detailed stuff is going on) I only have most of my details on medium and most of the other people i talk to that have that same card are getting like 100 fps on avg with 1024*768 with all their details on high.  I download the 71.22 driver for nvidia card off this site and i installed all the chipset features off the cd and everything seems to be running fine except for these fps.
Specs on my computer:
Msi k8t neo fis2r via k8t800 via chipset
amd64 3200+
Kingston 1gb(2-512MB) pc 2700
nvidia 6800gt oc
coolermaster 450w power supply
Maxtor 80GB hard drive

No i didn't overlcock b/c i heard it only helps a little bit and it wouldn't take me to the fps that i should be getting b/c i have tried b4 and it didn't seem to boost it but like 5fps and my temp reading for my card is in the green so that can't be it

  • Encore CS5: Trouble with 720p 59.94 fps mpeg 2 files

    Here are a number of problems i am having importing these files as assets into CS5 that i really need some help and guidance with. I have my quality presets for blu ray at 1280 x 720p  59.94 fps maximum quality.
    1. I was able to successfully import a 720p file at 59.94fps as a asset with 5.1 audio. The asset properties say "Don't transcode"and the file type imports as a mpeg video in the project panel so i am happy right now, but
    2. i try to import another file with the same characteristics and i get the error message that "this type of encoding does not support multiple channel audio". So, i demux the file and try to import the file as a m2v file. Well, the import reaches 43% and then just freezes. I wait for 30 minutes and still no change. So i escape out of the program which crashes. I reboot Encore and try again. It stalls again at 43%. So, i convert the file to 2 channel sound (sigh),
    3. and i am able to import the file into encore, but the asset properties say "automatic transcode". So, i try to change it to "don't transcode" but every time i select this option, it goes back to "automatic transcode". Why is it doing this? The asset is 720p and it matches my project presets. I really want to avoid transcoding!!!! Also in the project panel, the asset is a "Video file" instead of "mpeg video". Why is this??
    Very frustrated right now!! Any help would be appreciated.
    thanks.

    Hi,
    That file may not be a blu ray legal file.
    If the 720P file is blu ray legal then the status should be don't transcode.
    You can check the file property(status is automatic transcode) with the file property(status is don't transcode).
    Thanks,

  • Hello! I am having trouble creating a still picture time lapse! I am trying to create a 20 or 25 fps

         Hi! i am really looking for some help here using lightroom 4! i am using the free trial version (not sure if that has anything to do with it but on the adobe website it says it is the full version) I have a list of all my pictures and i go to slideshow and i dont understand how to make it in 20fps.. my pictures are in RAW, Using a Nikon D5100, the only option i see to change the picture speed is to make it 0.1 second each picture! any help would be much appreciated! i have googled it and anything i can find is for lightroom 3! i am using lightroom 4, i have downloaded the templetes for light room 3 and nothing is working.. i could make the video in windows movie maker but that program is horrible..
         Other question i am wondering is when i lable my pictures with my logo is it possible to just save the file to my desktop or do i have to email it under the wed setting? i can easily get my logo on the picture but i dont know how to save it. i just want the file and not a photo book on email. when i click sync into my folder, my logo does not appear on the picture!? I am new to the program and i would really like to figure this out!
                   Thank you for your time!

    Yes - I understand how busy you can get. This is first time I could check this forum since I posted this question a few weeks ago. Anything would help as I am finding that the answer may be that our AD needs to be more robust and defined with specific groups. I have read and reread all the pages in the admin guide regarding access levels and identifiers and such but it still seems to me that it boils down to being able to obtain what you need from the AD because even identifiers need an appropriate value to assign access levels. In our AD we only have Faculty, Staff, and Students as groups and nothing else that is relevant to iTunesU use anyway. Faculty and Staff are not divided into anything else so the only credential I can past to iTunesU is whether or not they are Faculty or whether or not they are a student and that is it. I am setting up some special AD group now so at least I can give some other users elevated access to some courses but that may be the extent of what I can do unless I am missing something.

  • Trouble Editing 60 fps Stereoscopic Footage

    Working with a quadcore, 12GB ram, Win7 x64, SSD for OS, raid 0 for media, which ive tried @ proxies resolutions of 1024/512 & 512/256, using both lagarith and highly compressed jpeg sequences, and premeire stutters incessantly, but only at 60fps, which i have to edit at because this project demands that level of precision. Damn, Im already tired of this consumer grade crap and ive just started. I could bash adobe, but ive had worse experiences on FCP, so all im gonna say is that is a damn shame there isnt a single competent company out there capable of creating a solid NLE for less than the price of a house.

    Well, over the years of troubleshooting issues on this forum, I have gathered a useful perspective. Issues sort out this way, and in this order:
    1.) System (probably 50% of the issues)
    2.) Assets (probably 30% of the issues)
    3.) Project Preset (probably 10% of the issues)
    4.) Pure OE (probably 9% of the issues)*
    5.) Real Bugs in the software (final 1% of the issues)
    * Harm takes me to task, as he maintains that 1 through 3 are really OE too, but I hold out that there are differences.
    Now, if others have success with their systems, the same Assets and program, that should be an indicator that maybe something is different in your instance. Also, Jeff is not given to even hyperbole, let alone BS. There have been a very few instances where he got something wrong, but I really can't remember those (gotta' be one, or two somewhere?).
    He also took his time from an assignment in Europe with limited Internet access and expensive connection charges to try and help you. I would urge you to be thankful and also to show some respect for his efforts.
    What some folk fail to realize is that with two exceptions, we are ALL but users. We just offer our help on a pro-bono basis to other users. Even in the cases of those two Adobe employees (in their Profiles), they work elsewhere besides C/S, or T/S, and have "day jobs" with Adobe. They also give freely of their time. If one has found a Bug, this Bug Report is how you get Adobe's attention. They take these very seriously. Be prepared to give them all necessary info, so they can replicate your issue in their lab and get to work fixing it.
    Last, as users, we're really not interested in how you feel about Adobe, or its products. We're only interested in getting the necessary info to help a fellow-user solve the issues they are faced with. Might be something to take into consideration. Posting into other threads that one should ditch Adobe products is not useful to that poster, as others are attempting to help them solve their problems. It also does not sit well with people who make a nice living using Adobe products. Adobe is very lenient with references to competitive programs in these fora (far more lenient than any other software company, that I have experienced), but one should only offer up useful replies.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Troubles with shots at 50 fps to edit

    Hi friends,
    I'm editing a video with H264 footages 1080p but shot some in 720 at 50fps. My sequence is set with the H264 codec. Everything's fine with the 1080p rushes. When I have 720 50fps rushes in the same seq, I've to render them (that's normal) but when I render a message says "codec error". So I can't use my 50fps footages for slomo.
    Anybody can help plz...?
    thx

    Absolutely.  You'll want to use Compressor.  Once open, go to Preferences and make sure that "Autolaunch Batch Monitor" is selected. Then you drag your clips in and find the preset for DVCPRO HD and drop it onto the files. Then click submit.
    Another way you could possibly do it, is within Final Cut.  Select all the clips in the bin.  Go to "File"  > "Media Manager"
    Where is says "Media"  click the dropdown and select "Recompress"
    Under the new drop down that shows up select the DVCPRO HD (whichever is appropriate for your footage)
    I'm not sure how well this works in the version of Final Cut you have.

  • Little troubles with DVB-S2 via MPlayer

    Hi,
    I use the MPlayer already for quite a while to stream DVB-S and DVB-S2 with it. But for approximately two weeks something changed while watching HD-channels: the video track lags every few seconds; the audio track is quiet normal. However, the non-HD channels hide the problem.
    E.g. while watching a German HD-channel, I find following terminal outputs:
    [h264 @ 0xf2b820]mmco: unref short failure
    [h264 @ 0xf2b820]reference picture missing during reorder
    [h264 @ 0xf2b820]Missing reference picture
    [h264 @ 0xf2b820]Increasing reorder buffer to 2
    h264 @ 0xf2b820]Increasing reorder buffer to 3
    [h264 @ 0xf2b820]Increasing reorder buffer to 4
    [mpegts @ 0xeb3080]PES packet size mismatch
    **** Your system is too SLOW to play this! ****
    Specially this message I can't understand, because I'm using a CPU AMD Phenom II X4 955 3,2 GHz, 8 GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 RAM and the graphic card ASUS GTX 460 Top GDDR5 PCIe 1024 MB. But, let's continue with the outputs:
    [h264 @ 0xf2b820]concealing 880 DC, 880 AC, 880 MV errors
    [h264 @ 0xf2b820]mmco: unref short failure
    [h264 @ 0xf2b820]number of reference frames (0+6) exceeds max (5; probably corrupt input), discarding one
    [h264 @ 0xf2b820]illegal short term buffer state detected
    Furthermore I'm using two HHD WD20EARS, which are connected to RAID1 via 3ware 9650SE-2LP, and the DVB hardware decoder card Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-HD-S2. My desktop environment is KDE SC 4.8.
    For starting the DVB-S2 streaming I use szap-s2 -r -p -S 1 -c ~/.mplayer/hdchannels.conf "NAME-OF-THE-HD-CHANNEL" in one terminal and mplayer /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0 -demuxer lavf -cache 8192 in a second terminal.
    I just mention all this stuff because I've absolutly no idea, what could be the reason. Before this troubles started, two weeks ago, everything worked flawlessly. Checking the /etc/log/pacman.log I can find out, that the Linux kernel was upgraded from 3.2.6-2 to 3.2.7-1 on 24th February. I'm not sure, but maybe since that time these failures appears. Presently I'm using Linux 3.2.8-1.
    Has anyone an idea what might just be the cause? (Perhaps it could be a option to try the LTS-kernel?)

    So, today I just made some small tests. First of all I tried to start a HD-channel with WinTV7 on Windows 7: The channel was streamed correctly for almost one minute and than it was lost - and I had no possibilty to get it back.
    After that I tried again to start the same HD-channel on Linux. I apologize in advance to the large amount of text but following is the terminal output of the first minute (finally canceled by STRG + C):

    **** Your system is too SLOW to play this! ****
    Possible reasons, problems, workarounds:
    - Most common: broken/buggy _audio_ driver
    - Try -ao sdl or use the OSS emulation of ALSA.
    - Experiment with different values for -autosync, 30 is a good start.
    - Slow video output
    - Try a different -vo driver (-vo help for a list) or try -framedrop!
    - Slow CPU
    - Don't try to play a big DVD/DivX on a slow CPU! Try some of the lavdopts,
    e.g. -vfm ffmpeg -lavdopts lowres=1:fast:skiploopfilter=all.
    - Broken file
    - Try various combinations of -nobps -ni -forceidx -mc 0.
    - Slow media (NFS/SMB mounts, DVD, VCD etc)
    - Try -cache 8192.
    - Are you using -cache to play a non-interleaved AVI file?
    - Try -nocache.
    Read DOCS/HTML/en/video.html for tuning/speedup tips.

  • Trouble Passing Values Using onClick Event

    I have a page with a div, <div id= PF_Text_Panel></>,  containing text describing an image, the image is in a separate div.  Using CSS the text panel is on top of the image and covers about 1/3 of the image’s left side.  A slide effect, handled by the function Slide, targets the PF_Text_Panel div. The function Slide is triggered by an onClick event allowing the user to slide the description to the left and reveal the entire image.
    The function Slide contains an if statement. The if statement is used to determine if PF_Text_Panel is open or closed using the variable SldPnlState  as a flag like this; if the variable SldPnlState ==1, then run Slide.  The other part of this function, which actually slides the div is an instance of the Slide Effect, inserted using Dreamweaver CS4.
    The variable SldPnlState  is set using the function setSldPnlState
    The function setSldPnlState, initiated by an onClick, passes a value to the variable SldPnlState, in this case it can be set to either 0 or 1 by separate onClick events
    To test if the variable SldPnlState is being passed from the onClick event to the variable I included the function printVar which writes the value of the variable SldPnlState to the screen.
    I believe that the Spry effect Slide portion of the function works because if I go into the code and manually set the variable SldPnlState to 1 the function Slide works and if I set it to 0 the function Slide does not work.
    This the bug:
    printVar indicates that the value is being passed the variable SldPnlState, it displays either a 1 or 0 as expected.
    The function Slide does not work however, when the variable SldPnlState should be set by the onClick event passing the value using the function setSldPnlState.  It does not seem like the value is being passed from the onClick event triggering the function or that somehow the script stops running.
    You can demo the page at: http://dg-ad.com/Slide_Effect_Logic_Parameter.html
      Attached is the code, if anyone has some suggestions I would really appreciate hearing from you
    <!--begin setup Spry Effects-->
    <script src="SpryAssets/SpryEffects.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <!--Begin pass variable from flagToggle parameter to SldPnlState variable includes printVar function to sent results to screen-->
    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
    <!--begin set flag using onclick event-->
    var SldPnlState = (1);
    function setSldPnlState(flagToggle)
    SldPnlState = flagToggle;
    </script>
    <!--end set flag using onclick event-->
    <!--begin slider onclick event-->
    <script type="text/javascript">
    if(SldPnlState==1)

    Spry.Effect.DoSlide(targetElement, {duration: 500, from: 0, to: 200, toggle: true, transition: 2, fps: 750, horizontal: true});
    //-->
    </script>
    <!--end slider onclick event-->
    <!--begin write variable onclick event-->
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function printVar()
    document.getElementById('test_display').innerHTML = SldPnlState
    </script>
    <!--end write variable onclick event-->
    </head>
    <body id="wrapper">
            <div style="padding-top:50px;">
            <a href="#" onclick="setSldPnlState(1);">Set var SldPnlState to Flag Status Set Open (1)</a><br><br><br>
            <a href="#" onclick="setSldPnlState(0);">Set var SldPnlState to Flag Status Set Closed (0)</a><br><br><br>

            </div>
    <div id="PF_Text_Panel" style="border:#9C9 thick solid; height:250px; margin-top:25px;">

      </div>
      <script type="text/javascript">
        var panelWidget_1=new Spry.Widget.HTMLPanel('PF_Text');
        </script>
    </div>

    Thanks so much for taking a look at this.  The whole reason I am doing this is that I couldn't find a state indicator flag in the Spry.Effect.DoSlide effect.
    I see that the htmlPanel does not have a bearing on the problem as you mentioned but not having the javascript doesn't matter either.  I am using the Spry.Effect.DoSlide effect, it is in the head,  in the function with the if statement, and it is making the div"PF_Text_Panel slide which works fine including the if statement.  If I set the var SldPnlState = (1) it works set it to 0 and the slide effect is disabled.  I need to be able to change the variable using an onclick event.
    The problem as you mention is with the function SldPnlState = flagToggle;  This is what I need to do.  I need to pass a value to  the variable SldPnlState from an onclick event.  As the function Slide is set up, with an if statement, the div will slide if SldPnlState=1 and the slide function will turn off if SldPnlState=0.  However when I do the onclick="setSldPnlState(1);"event there is no effect on the Slide function.  The value seems to pass to the variable tSldPnlState since I can get the value of this same variable to display using the function printVar() which will display 1 or 0 depending on which onclick event I run.  It seems like the I can pass the variable from the onclick event it's just that if statement in the function MM_effectSlide never sees it.  I don't know enough to trouble shoot this.  But I will take a closer look at the SldPnlState = flagToggle; part as you suggest.

  • 60 fps playback problems on youtube

    Earlier I was having trouble exporting videos with CS5 to play at 60fps. Now , they actually do export at 60 fps - but when I upload the video to youtube the playback fps is way slower. What's the deal ?

    I just uploaded a 50p sequence and it runs as it should run.
    Use the advanced upload option.

    Trouble Shooting Revisited
    Ok We will start with loading Tiger and iChat version 3.0
    From Panther
    There are or were serveral Add-ons and applications avaiblable to Panther users of iChat that are not compatible with iChat 3.
    These following need to be deleted.
    iCAR - An Add-on that posts an Auto response Away message (produces a 1 fps result in a Video chat)
    Virex for Panther - An Anti Virus app avialable to @mac account users (Produces the 1 fsp problem)
    iChatUSBCam for Panther/iChat2.x - A Add-on utility for using iSight or USB cam with iChat2.x (Incompatible with Tiger/iChat 3)
    iProfile - An Add-on for producing a profile on the AIM server that ichat 2.x could not do (not proven to be a problem but now not needed).
    A clean install of Tiger (not Archive and Install) produces the best results.
    But any install should also check these Tiger settings.
    First, UPGRADE to 10.4.2 as this gets past many Connection issues that became apparent with the basic Tiger (10.4) and iChat 3.0 It updates iChat to version 3.0.1
    Check Settings
    Don't be complacent that you have not set anything different.
    There are several new things in Tiger that may trip you up.
    These are worth looking at:
    Mac Firewall. Now includes the ability to Block all UDP traffic in the Advanced button (System Preferences > Sharing >Firewall tab then the Advanced Button).
    Also can now open UDP protocol for ports where as the Panther one only did TCP (Check any old Panther settings you Added to the presets).
    The ports should be:
    <table border=1; cellpadding=5><Tr><td colspan=3; align=center>Tiger TCP and UDP Ports For Mac Firewall</td></tr><tr><td align=center>Method</td><td align=center>TCP Ports</td><td align=center>UDP Ports</td></Tr><tr><td>iChat over AIM</td><td>5190</td><td>5060, 5190, 5678, 16384-16403</td></tr><tr><td>Bonjou</td><td>5298</td><td>5297, 5298, 5353</td></tr><tr><td>Jabber</td><td>5220, 5222, 5223</td><td></td></tr><tr><td>All Ports</td><td>5190, 5220, 5222, 5223, 5298</td><td>5060, 5297, 5298, 5298, 5353, 5678, 16384-16403</td></tr></table>
    QuickTime. This has a change in the name of the Connection Speed tab to Streaming (System Preferences > QuickTime) Check this is set to be equal to your connection speed (the download one if this is faster).
    Date & Time. Not conclusively involved but worth eliminating. Set a Network Server and the correct Time Zone.
    Apple Remote Desktop. If this is active in System Preferences > Sharing > Services tab it causes problems for iChat.
    Next, test the actual speed you are getting from your ISP.
    http://www.dslreports.com/stest
    There is a table here of the speeds you need:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301050
    The one you get linked to in the Help menu is wrong.
    Other Known Problems
    There are several other applications that iChat 3 does not seem to like.
    folding@home This is a application that uses spare processor time to help find protein chains for a University.
    PostgreSQL This is a data base application that can be reset to allow more processor time for iChat. See here http://www.murraywilliams.com/blog/archives/000046.html
    Lotus Notes Some people have reported problems with this.
    Make sure any Add-on Video cards or input PCI cards have up to date Firmware
    Thread on Miglia.
    IF you are still having problems I would do Routine Maintenance Tasks as laid out here.
    Lastly, some routers/modems are SIP aware and give different results in iChat 3 compared to iChat 2.
    This is due to the Operating System changing (like a new computer connecting to the modem) rather than iChat.

  • 10.6.7 Serious Graphics Performance Trouble

    Hello.
    Today I updated my MacBook from 10.6.5 to 10.6.7 using the Combo Updater as well as doing a few other system updates. Already since 10.6.4 my graphics performance had worsened considerably as I had what appeared to be overheat trouble with the GPU after 15 minutes of gaming at most, making the FPS drop from 60 to 15 randomly.
    With the update to 10.6.7 I now can't even exceed 20 frames per second in the first place anymore. Games in which the error occurs: FlightGear 2.0.0 pre3, Redline 1.0.5
    Apart from in games, my Mac generally gets "stuck" particularly often, no matter if it's supposed to move a 15 MB video file into trash or if I'm editing a couple of images with Gimp.
    What could cause this and how could the error be solved?
    Hardware:
    MacBook Aluminium Unibody 13"
    Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 Ghz
    2 GB DDR3-RAM
    NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB (shared)

    Found this on another discussion forum.
    These are the .kext and other files which needs to be replaced. You should back up before you install any packages:
    /System/Library/Extensions/GeForce.kext
    /System/Library/Extensions/GeForce7xxxGLDriver.bundle
    /System/Library/Extensions/GeForceGA.plugin
    /System/Library/Extensions/GeForceGLDriver.bundle
    /System/Library/Extensions/GeForceVADriver.bundle
    /System/Library/Extensions/NVDAGF100Hal.kext (if it exists)
    /System/Library/Extensions/NVDANV40Hal.kext
    /System/Library/Extensions/NVDANV50Hal.kext
    /System/Library/Extensions/NVDAResman.kext
    /System/Library/Extensions/NVSMU.kext
    You can get around the hardware verification check by right-clicking the .mpkg and selecting "Show Package Contents".
    In the "Contents" folder that's shown, navigate to "Packages".
    Inside that you'll see three .pkg files: Display Driver.pkg, OpenGL Driver.pkg, and Video Driver.pkg.
    Each of these hopefully installs without a hardware verification check.
    There is another solion given by edit setup checking algorithm:
    Simply locate "distribution.dist" inside driver package,
    then delete part of program with "unsupported_title" and "unsupported_message" strings, save and install.

  • ISight video recording became limited to 15 fps?

    From time to time I record videos with my built-in iSight camera. I used to do it using iMovie, then Quicktime and Photobooth lately.
    However, I noticed that frame rate in all my recent recordings do not exceed 15fps. Photobooth does the worst job -- it records at 7-10 fps, Quicktime 7 records at 12-13 fps, iMovie -- at 15 fps. I even changed iMovie video recording settings to NTSC to achieve 30 fps, but -- no luck. Stuck at 15 fps.
    I have tonns of my earlier recordings done at 30 fps. I don't know when exactly it happend, but I believe around the time I upgraded to Snow Leopard.
    Is there a way of getting iSight recording back to 30 fps?
    Thanks,
    Eugene

    Welcome to Discussions, Eugene (edugaev)
    You seem like an experienced user, so I will give you some suggestions for your consideration while you troubleshoot your problem. Once you have found the root cause of the trouble, even if it is not automatically resolved, you will have identified what needs to be fixed. If you need clarification or help on any of the following suggestions, I will try to offer more details in response to your specifics.
    (1) You are wise to continue test with multiple apps to see if the problem is system wide or application specific. Before continuing, I suggest you also test in another user account to eliminate the possibility that this issue is user-specific.
    (2) Try turning on some more the light. The idea for this came from the fact that Apple's article entitled Sight's video "stutters" in low light when I turn it on
      http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2264
    says iSight reduces frame rate in low light.
    More info: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3097
    (3) Be sure you have not increased processor loads with File Vault, multiple applications in a new workflow, or added Login Items. Also, with "tonns of ... earlier recordings", be certain you are not running short of free space on your disk.
    (4) If nothing there leads to a fix, because you think the issue began upgrading you Mac OS, if you use third party hardware that requires software installation (mouse, keyboard, A/V interface, etc.,) or software (including Microsoft Office or Exchange, plugins such as Perian, Flip4Mac, etc.,) check their support sites to see if any of them have known-issues with 10.6.2.
    Perhaps you merely need to update the software or drivers in order for your third-party system components to be compatible with 10.6.2
    Uninstall any that are currently known to be incompatible with your system.
    (5) If your problem persists and your system has no third-party components, or at least none that require updating for OS X 10.6.2, backup all important data and apply the 10.6.2 Combo Update (with permissions repairs before AND after the update).
    Then test whether your problem persists.
    (6) If your problem persists, reinstall Snow Leopard. Be sure to repair permissions before and after installing.
    Once you have reinstalled SL and apply the latest current Combo Updater with permissions repairs between each step and after updating.)
    Do not reinstall any third-party apps until you have tested your iSight's function. When iSight is working properly again, you can reinstall your third-party apps again, Install only one third party app at a time, and test it thoroughly before installing another so you can tell if one of them causes problems with your system.
    (7) If the problem persists, the problem may be caused by a software problem outside the Mac&OS that you cannot find. Then only fix I know for that is to zero your disk and do a clean install of SL to see if you can resolve the problem yourself before seeking help from an Apple  Service Provider.

  • Fps in mpeg4 project

    I have some H.264 mp4's that are neither 4:3 or 16:9, my aim is to convert them to mpg2 to watch on my TV with an eyehome. No issues during conversion, but I can only export to mpg2 at 4:3 or16:9 and my TV also works at these sizes. Depending which I choose they end up squashed one way or the other.
    I had hoped to use imovie to import into an mpeg4 project, which I believe is fixed at 4:3 and will put black bands at top and bottom to retain the movies prospective. Trouble is the mpeg 4 project also seems fixed at 30 fps (even if I set my prefs to 25 fps), which is a problem since I am in the UK.
    My current options appear to be mp4(25fps) to imovie proj exporting to an mp4(30 fps) and a final conversion to mpg2 at 25 fps. The trouble is there are too many conversions and the end product is jittery. (likely because of the fps changes)
    I have toyed with going for a DV project at 25 fps and exporting to .dv and then to mpg2, but I feel this will also be too many conversions. (I'd opted for the mpeg4 option because the originals were also mpeg4)
    Trouble is these experiments take hours, so any advice would be appreciated,

    Create a 720X576 all black image. Open it using QT Pro, select all and "copy".
    Switch to your mp4 file, select all and choose "Add to Selection & Scale" from the edit menu.
    Open the Movie Properties window and adjust the "offset" and "scale" (if needed) of your other video track so that it is properly positioned.
    Export to DV Stream (PAL).
    You can test this theory using a one minute "cut" so you can see how long the entire process will take.

  • Thinking of upgrading camera but with different fps: problems?

    Working with PrePro and After Effects CS6
    I have a Panasonic HDC SD90 which is a low end 1080p camera shooting at 59.97 fps. It is very shaky to Zoom and the light meter is not stable and gives me fluctuating exposure levels. Costco has a sale on this:
    The JVC GC-PX100 is a premium camcorder in a digital SLR-style format.
    http://www.trustedreviews.com/jvc-gc-px100_Camcorder_review
    The MOV format provides the highest quality, offering a 40Mbits/sec data rate for Full HD at 50 progressive frames per second, with 4Mbits/sec of this used by the LPCM audio. You can grab the same resolution and frame rate in MP4 format at 36Mbits/sec, while AVHD only offers this at 28Mbits/sec, which is the standard for AVCHD 2.0. The iFrame option is 720p at 25 frames per second and a healthy 36Mbits/sec.

    What challenges in PrPro and AE might I face using footage from both? If I want to set up multi cameras on a shoot am I begging for trouble by continuing to use the Panasonic or by buying a camera that is not 59.97 fps.
    thanks in advance for any input.

    Ahh, Mr. JeffinPoulsbo, you're probably about 4 hours up I5 north of me. Not too many Poulsbo's I know of state-side!
    Past the items with this specific PAL camera, mixing frame-rates on a sequence is (to qoute a line from a fav movie) "possible but not recommended" ... at least, if you can avoid it. There can be image-quality issues with the transcoding as the computer will need to create frames by sort of guessing and in the process you can loose all sorts of IQ bits. You really need to pick one of the formats as your base timeline framerate and typically transcode the other before adding it to the timeline for editing purposes ... and so yes, it can be done; yes, it's done more often than you might think; no, it's not hardly ever the optimal choice.
    PrPro can do its own t-code thing if you drop non-conforming footage on the tl and in the pop-up that normally pops-up click on conform that footage to the timeline. I've heard some folks say it works fine for X footage on a Y timeline, and others say ... you're nuts ... my one caveat: You Mileage WILL vary. So you'll have to try it whatever you come up with.

  • Encore Trouble

    Hello all! I'm having some trouble with Adobe Encore cs6 currently. I've seen this problem posted around the forums, but not answered in the way I'm currently experiencing it.  Anyway, I've just recently finished editing an HD (1920x1080) project using Premiere CC, exported it using Media Encoder (1080p 29.97 fps using h.264) and now I'm trying to burn it to a DVD for a client using Encore - which I thought would be the easiest part of the process. I've heard of people having trouble getting the resolution to go above 720x480, but mine seems to be big enough, but it's quite grainy in blurry when it looks fine in Premiere CC. The footage was shot progressive, but it seems to me that Encore is automatically changing it to interlace (which I've heard it does). Now, I have looked for a solution to this (which appears to be Encore CS6 produces Pixelated and Grainy DVDs...????) BUT when I right click my timeline OR video file in the project menu in Encore, the "Transcode Settings" option is grayed out. So I'm not sure what to do at this point.

    the Transcode Settings option grayed out in Encore:
    Something I just noticed. The Transcode Settings on the video file is clickable, so I edited the Transcode Settings per the instructions in - Encore CS6 produces Pixelated and Grainy DVDs...????, and am exporting an ISO currently. Will reply with an update.

  • Which FPS for Smooth Animation?

    I'm a new flash user and I'm having trouble making a simple
    animation (small bitmap single color airplane motion tweened to
    move across the background) for a website. FPS is set to 21 but
    when i test the movie, the animation is choppy & not smooth at
    all. If i try 60FPS, it's very smooth but I think that'd be
    ridiculously high for a website.
    Please take a look at this link because I want my animation
    to be as smooth as this, what FPS do you think they used here?
    http://www.taito.co.jp
    What are some other options for me to retain a 21FPS swf
    file and still keep my animation as smooth as possible? or are
    people just using really high FPS to achieve this? Please help
    me...thank you.

    I use 30fps, I think its smooth but not overkill. Higher than
    that, and you will start to run into PC strains and slow downs on
    older machines, lower than that and things are just inheritantly
    choppy.
    Also, you mention you are animating a bitmap. Bitmaps tend to
    have a harder time than vectors. Also, with Bitmaps, be sure to
    check "allow smoothing" in it's properties in library.
