  • PDF viewer and Safari

    The acrobat PDF viewer does not open when reading PDF files in Safari. The pdf file is opened with "preview" in safari instead. How do I get the PDF viewer to work with Safari. I have installed the acrobat reader and it detected that PDF viewer was not installed and installed it but it still doesn't open in a pdf viewer format.
    Any solutions?

    Songstress,
    I believe that this problem can happen if you have conflicting PDF plug-ins in your Macintosh HD/Library/Internet Plugins folder. If you want to use Adobe's readers, you can use Acrobat's "Repair" option (I believe it's under the Help menu in Acrobat Pro. If you prefer to use Apple's own reader, remove Adobe's PDF plugin from the above-mentioned folder. You may want to check out Manfred Shubert's popular PDF Browser plugin (http://www.shubert-it.com/).
    Also, it would be work checking your ~/Library/Internet Plugins folder (in your Home directory). That is normally empty, so if you have a PDF plugin there, it could be messing things up.

  • Format on HTML report different than on PDF view

    I have a Quote report based on Product Revenue that we send to our customers. I have it formatted nicely when initially displayed and also when viewed with the Printer Friendly HTML option. But... when I view it as a PDF, it is not even close.
    The layout of the report uses a narrative section with HTML formatting to get the elements to align correctly, per the documentation. The HTML I use is as follows:
    Narrative Section formatting code:
    <table width="600">
    <tr><td colspan=3>  <div align="center"><b><font size="5" face="Times">
      @10</font><br>
    <font size="4" face="Times" >  Prepared Exclusively For: @8</font></b>
    </div></td>
    </tr>
      <tr> <th width="250"><div align="left">Quote Details</div></th> <th width="50">   </th><th width="300"><div align="left">Sales Manager Info:</div></th></tr>
    <tr>
    <td>Quote ID: @9</td><td> </td><td>Name: @16</td></tr>
    <tr>
    <td>Quote Date: @15</td><td> </td><td>Email: @17</td>
    <tr><td>Quote Expiration: @14</td><td> </td><td> </td></tr>
    <tr><td colspan=3><div align="center"><b>Phones - Cell:</b> @18, <b>Work:</b> @20, <b>Fax: </b> @19 </div></td></tr>
    </table>
    Notes: @11Is there another way to get the HTML view and PDF view to look the same (or at least close)?
    (more details and examples here --> [HTML and PDF Views|http://crm.nurserysupplies.com/images/CRM_HTML_and_PDF_views.doc])

    To date, this is considered a product limitation. I just talked with an escalation manager regarding this very issue, and he offered to bring this up with the product managers/engineers on 5/15/09. I recommend escalating this issue and asking your escalation manager to do the same.

    The best way to accomplish what you are trying to do is: Click Printer Friendly > Click HTML > Click on File - Print in browser window > Either print to PDF using a pdf printer from adobe or the cutepdf or print a hard copy.

  • Adjust PDF view settings in Safari

    I use the default PDF viewer in Safari to save scientific articles. When I open a PDF document, the view setting is always too small. The view setting (seen when control-clicking) is "Actual size/single page/continuous." I would like to change the default view setting from actual size to auto size. How do I go about this with Safari 2?
    Also, is there a way to change the default view settings easily in Safari 3? If so, I will upgrade to the beta.

    safari 3 increases the default pdf zoom level, remembers your last pdf zoom setting (even across sessions), and keeps this separate from your html zoom.
    you could try manually adjusting WebKitPDFScaleFactor, say:
    defaults write -app safari WebKitPDFScaleFactor 1.75
    but i'm not sure if that will work in safari 2.

  • Looking for a stylish pdf viewer to integrate into muse site. Any suggestions?

    Dear all,
    I am looking for a stylish pdf viewer that i could integrate into a muse theme. I am after something that will give a similar effect to the page below.
    http://adoreum.com/magazine/
    Any suggestions would be most welcome. I have heard that it is possible to do this using InDesign, is this a red herring???
    Many thanks in advance,
    Martin

    No. Not for PDF viewing. Most people will view PDFs either through an Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat web browser plug-in or via web browsers that have built in PDF viewers such as Google Chrome.
    What you're seeing on sites like the web site link you posted is a conversion of the PDF to another format in a "flip book" layout, a format that doesn't require the site visitor to install any plug-ins. The flip book would either be in Flash format for desktop computer browsers or HTML5 for both web browser and mobile device compatibility.
    One example is Flipgorilla: http://blog.flipgorilla.com/
    It's a free PDF to HTML5 flip book creator. They even have a Wordpress plug-in. But I'm not sure how friendly its code would be to a Muse-based web site.

  • How to make firefox open a URL in a PDF document which is loaded using Adobe PDF viewer in firefox to always in a new browser window ?

    Hi
    I have a web application which would enable users to see a list of PDF document on the web page and when the user select the PDF document, it will be open by a adobe PDF viewer.
    Within the content of the PDF document, it will contact URL links to some other portal web pages which we would like these other web pages to be open in a new browser window, but our testing shows that the new web pages may not always open in a new browser window.
    Could you help to advise how I can enforce that new web pages that are clicked from the PDF document can always be open in a new firefox browser window ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Sen Lee

    Hello,
    In order to change the default reader for PDF files (to not open PDF files with Firefox's internal PDF reader), follow these steps:
    #Go to ''Tools'' > ''Options'' (or ''Firefox'' > ''Options'').
    #In the Options window, select the ''Applications'' tab.
    #In the ''Search'' field, type ''PDF''. You should find ''Portable Document Format (PDF)''.
    #On the right handside you should find an ''Action'' column. Use that to select your favorite PDF reader. In order to view PDF files in Firefox, choose ''Preview in Firefox''.

  • Firefox downloads PDF with wrong extension instead of opening a websites' PDF viewer

    I have a problem with websites that want to provide their own PDF viewer. Instead of launching their viewer, Firefox wants to download the PDF. I'd be perfectly fine with that ***if it downloaded with the correct .pdf extension so that Preview would actually open the PDF***. But that's not what happens; I end up with something like "RetrieveDocument.aspx" or "Retrieve.srv".
    I've tried resetting my download options (http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions). Didn't help.
    I saw some stuff about other plugins I can install. Here's the thing: *this stuff works fine in Chrome and Safari*. Maybe websites aren't tagging their content correctly or something, but this stuff works fine in two other browsers.

  • PDF VIEW ISSUE FIXED in FIREFOX 19

    FYI Only ...... After Updating from Firefox 18 to 19 my PDF Viewing became (.ashx) ver's. Turns out that in FX Tools/Options/Apps the [Portable Document Format] line DEFAULTED to "Preview in Firefox".
    Changed it to [Use Adobe Acrobat / or could have used Reader] and Normal PDF Viewing returned.
    My eyes originally fixated on Just the 3 ADOBE lines at the top and I didn't even notice the 5th "PDF" line and the Default "Error". Maybe this Helps someone later.

  • Cannot open pdf files with Firefox's built-in pdf viewer

    This just started (I think) with Firefox 37.01. This is on Win7-X64. I cannot open pdf files with the Firefox built-in pdf viewer. If I click on the file or try to open it from within Firefox, it brings up a "opening filename.pdf" message. If I select the "Open with" radio button as 'Firefox (default),' it just keeps looping on this process; it never opens. In Tools => Options => Applications, Portable Document Format (PDF) is indicated as 'Preview in Firefox.' I've never had any other PDF viewer installed on this computer. I've tried disabling all plug-ins and extensions, but it still doesn't work. I searched for solutions but haven't found any for this specific issue.
    Thanks for the help.

    Hello,
    Have you tried, to start Firefox in safemode you can do so by following these steps
    '''If Firefox is open,''' you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
    * Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]], click Help [[Image:Help-29]] and select ''Restart with Add-ons Disabled''.
    '''If Firefox is not running,''' you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
    * On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac: Hold the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run ''firefox -safe-mode'' <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
    When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".
    ;[[Image:SafeMode-Fx35]]
    '''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to find the cause.
    ''To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''

  • PDF View Search Find Problems

    FInd/search function in PDF view application still not fixed in WebOS 1.4.  In PDF View application:
    1) The field where you enter something to search/find is hidden by the name of the PDF document title.  It doesn't go away even when you start typing, so you can't see what you are typing.
    2) The count of the number of matches found looks greyed out and very hard to read.
    3) The up/down arrows in the top right next to the count of matches does not work.  Shouldn't they take you to each consecutive match?
    4) Why doesn't it position you to page in the document where the first match is found?   It shows the page number at the bottom, but since the up/down arrows at the top right don't work, I have to click the forward page arrow and then the backward page arrow to jump to the page containing the first match.

    I don't know how to point Adobe to a certain printer, but the printer we are using does have that paper tray size.
    So just to add some more clarification, its BO XI R2 and:
    If I run the report in Deski, then save it as a PDF on my desktop, it is formatted properly, no problems at all, and no need to point Adobe to any printers. If I view the same report in Infoview it's split into two pages unless I chose "View -> Draft Mode". If I chose "Page Mode" it's split on two pages, if I chose "PDF Mode" (for printing) it's split into two pages and that is a problem....

  • PDF viewer doesn't work in FF 36.0.4 for Mac

    Macbook Pro with Yosemite and FF 36.0.4: Built in PDF viewer no longer works. Clicking on PDF links in search engines does not bring up the built in viewer.
    Restoring FF 35 restores the PDF viewer.

    I understand that the PDF viewer in Firefox is no longer working. I have reset the application settings for the pdf file mimetype in the Firefox Application settings.
    *[[Applications panel - Set how Firefox handles different types of files]]
    If the default continues not to work after resetting this setting, please check out a work around:
    In order to change the default reader for PDF files (to not open PDF files with Firefox's internal PDF reader), follow these steps:
    #Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and click Options (Preferences for Linux and Mac).
    #In the Options (Preferences for Linux and Mac) window, select the ''Applications'' panel.
    #In the ''Search'' field, type ''PDF''. You should find ''Portable Document Format (PDF)''.

  • PDF Viewer Bookmarklet

    As a user of Chrome in linux, there are still some things that are broken. For example, whenever I load a PDF, most of the time the Docs PDF Viewer extension will display it properly. However, there are still times where the PDF doesn't load properly within the reader.
    So I whipped up a quick bookmarklet for whenever this happens.
    Simply create a new bookmark with the URL as follows:
    javascript:void(window.open('http://docs.google.com/viewer?url='+escape(location.href)+'&outputmode=link'+'&title='+escape(document.title)+'&ref=browser'))
    This will open up the current page in the Google Docs PDF Viewer.

  • PDF viewer to manipulate pdf files

    Hello,
    I am using MySQL and JSP in order to create a website.
    In a table from the database i have store pdf files using the data type BLOB.
    How I can manipulate these pdf files from the JSP?
    I have search that the Java PDF SDK might do that job. Is anybody that has used
    it before?
    Please help me as soon as possible.
    Thank you in advance

    Current Firefox versions have enabled a new build-in PDF Viewer and that viewer doesn't have all the features that the Adobe Reader has.
    You can change the action for Portable Document Format (PDF) from Preview in Firefox to use the Adobe Reader or set to Always Ask in "Firefox > Options > Applications".
    You can set the pdfjs.disabled pref to true on the <b>about:config</b> page to disable the build-in PDF viewer and use the Adobe Reader instead.
