Fragmented Thumbnails after importing these to the elements organiser

Hello,
I just bought a new computer with Windows 8 and an SSD-Harddrive and installet the Photoshop Elements 12 trial version. I copied my RAW-files via LAN to the SSD-Harddiskdrive. Now when I import these into the organiser some pictures are fragmented. Has anybody an idea what the problem is? If I check the pictures in the windows explore with the RAW-codec the particular picture is alright. See also pictures below:

The format of the raw files is .CR2 and I use a Canon 60D as a camera.
Do you have an idea what is going wrong?
On my older computer I have Windows 7 and Photoshop Elements 9 and everything is fine. I also installed Photoshop Elements 9 on the new computer with Window 8, but the same fragmented pictures occured.

In general theory, one now has the Edit button for their posts, until someone/anyone Replies to it. I've had Edit available for weeks, as opposed to the old forum's ~ 30 mins.
That, however, is in theory. I've posted, and immediately seen something that needed editing, only to find NO Replies, yet the Edit button is no longer available, only seconds later. Still, in that same thread, I'd have the Edit button from older posts, to which there had also been no Replies even after several days/weeks. Found one that had to be over a month old, and Edit was still there.
Do not know the why/how of this behavior. At first, I thought that maybe there WAS a Reply, that "ate" my Edit button, but had not Refreshed on my screen. Refresh still showed no Replies, just no Edit either. In those cases, I just Reply and mention the [Edit].
Also, it seems that the buttons get very scrambled at times, and Refresh does not always clear that up. I end up clicking where I "think" the right button should be and hope for the best. Seems that when the buttons do bunch up they can appear at random around the page, often three atop one another, and maybe one way the heck out in left-field.
While I'm on a role, it would be nice to be able to switch between Flattened and Threaded Views on the fly. Each has a use, and having to go to Options and then come back down to the thread is a very slow process. Jive is probably incapable of this, but I can dream.

In IE I used different levels of folders for my favourites. After importing I miss the bookmarks of folders within folders within folders etc.

In Internet Explorer it is possible to organize favourites with folders as in firefox. In these folders you can make new folders and within those new folders. Can this tree structure be used in Firefox? After importing most of my favourites are gone, I can find no folders within folders within folders etc. So most of my favourites are not imported from IE.

Thanks for the helpful thoughts LarryHN. I'm having a Mac guy look at my MacBook Pro in the next day or so to see what he can find out. I described the issue on the phone... and like you, he said that saving my documents to a thumb drive shouldn't affect my iPhoto library.
One reason I bought the thumb drive was to back up my iPhoto library, but the time I got to that, it was already gone. I've thought of getting Time Machine (and have checked out other systems), but the reviews are so mixed, I'm dragging my feet on coughing up the cash right now.
When I launch iPhoto, I only see the last few weeks' worth of photos. Oddly, photos I imported 3 weeks ago appear, but are in a folder dated November 2012--when I know I took those and imported them in January 2013. So that's weird...
When I got to iPhoto Library, I have an Auto Import folder with nothing in it. "My Pictures" folder has nothing as well. I did hold down the option key while opening up iPhoto, but only my recent library (a few weeks' worth of photos) appears. I'm using iPhoto 2011 (6.2.3). I can only hope my Mac guy can help...

LR5.7 on Mac 10.7.5. I was importing DNG and JPG from an SD card. After import, several of the DNGs showed old photos which I imported months ago, but the JPG's were correct.

it appears the actual image is probably in place, but the *preview* is incorrect. clicking on the image to zoom in causes (the normal) "Loading...", followed by a zoomed in view of the *correct* image. zooming back out gives the normal view of the correct image. (*very* good to know!)

Using PS Elements 11 on a Mac how can one replicate Finder folders in the Elements Organiser view?

Hi all - I have found the Organiser folder structure quite confusing and it does not seem to replicate the Finder folder structure other than randomly, unlike Bridge in PS for PC which I also use.
I would love to be able to create folders in elements or simply do so in Finder and find them show up in elements Organiser. It seems to me that only once I have saved an image to a folder in the Finder does it show up in the Organiser folder view. Is this correct?
Any suggestions around a sensible workflow or approach here would be most welcome, thanks. Sean

Many thanks Andaleeb - yes I have tried that and it seems only to add to the confusion - folders which in the Finder clearly show all my images are blank in PSE Organiser with the statement that they still have to be imported into PS Organiser. I guess that may be my fault because, due to the problems in locating files in Organiser I right clicked on them in the Finder and said 'open with PSE'. So in effect I bypassed PSE Organiser. But one would still have hoped that the folder hierarchy would be the same in Organiser and the Finder. Very confusing! I have never seen a program deal with folders etc in the way PSE does.

'Include in the Elements Organiser' option - change to unchecked by default

When performing a 'save as' in Photo Elements 8, there is an option that is always checked by default: 'Include in the Elements Organizer'. Is there a way to disable this check by default, so I don't need to uncheck it every time I save an edited file for the first time?

It should be sticky for all files, once unchecked, at least for each editing session.

I just transfered a lot of mini DV to my harddrive using a roxio transfer which transfered fine and it plays in my media but after importing it to the premier elements organizer it wont let me play it because it says the my system does not have right comp

2. What did you do - DV or HDV capture firewire? For DV AVI, what did you produce DV AVI type 1 or DV AVI type 2?
If HDV, what do you have MPEG2.mpg or something else, like MPEG2.m2t?
3. Please download and install the free codec utility named GSpot

Black Thumbnails After Importing Scanned Picures

Last week I begun to scan all my analog photos.
The first 24 pictures scanned in RGB, saved as JPEG 8, imported in iPhoto - great!
Second round, nothing changed except the Mac OS X 10.5.2 update, all scanned pictures that I try to import to iPhoto end up with a black thumbnail. All files are displayed correctly in Preview, in Finder and elsewhere.
Please help. What is the Problem?
P.S. Opening and saving these files with Photoshop Elements solves the Problem, but is not an Option for thousands of photos.

This sounds exactly like what happens when you import a greyscale image. Check the profile of the pics - you can do this in the Preview -> Tools menu.

Transformer/XPath Broken after importing nodes into the DOM

I'm trying to combine nodes from several documents and then transform them.
I parse the document with a namespace aware document builder without a hitch, and then import the nodes from the other documents (parsed the same way).
Then I try to apply a transformer to the document and it only transforms the nodes that were in the original document. XPath also fails to see the nodes.
The weird thing is, that if I write the document out to a buffer as XML and then parse that back in, everything works fine.
So what the heck is going on?

I don't see the XML or the XPath expression you're
asking about. So I am going to take a wild guess and
say that your problem is one that is popular lately,
namely that XPath can't find elements that are in the
default namespace.
If your DocumentBuilder was not namespace-aware then
the XPath would work (no default namespace applying)
but if the Transformer was namespace-aware then the
XPath would not work.
Or it could very well be something else.You are correct. I discovered this about an hour after posting my question...
If I make my DocumentBuilder namespace aware, the behavior is consistent.
I can then solve my problem by specifying a NamespaceContext...
Now my question is... should I make my DocumentBuilder namespaceAware?
Since the XML Documents I'm dealing with only ever use one namespace,
I don't see the harm in leaving namespaceAware off. Then I don't have to mess
with a NamespaceContext. Am I missing something? When should
namespaceAware be set to true?

Why are videos in iphoto black thumbnails after import?

Hi,
I had to rebuild my entire iphoto library and start fresh but after i did that a lot of the small thumbnails are black when i view my photos in events.
I can correct that my making one photo in the event the key photo but all my videos in iphoto now have black thumbnails instead of the usual picture preview.
I'm upgrading them all just now to see if that helps but it's taking hours.
Any ideas anyone?

Now i just need to mess about in the finder and delete some things and then move some stuff about and that should be that!
Not sure what that is all about but you know that you must NEVER make any changes of any sort to the structure or con ten of the iPhoto library - there are no user serviceable parts in is - any user activity inside the iPhoto library will corrupt it and cause data loss

After importing my JPEGs, the matching RAW-Files aren't found! Why?

I shot JPEG+RAW-Couples with my Canon EOS 450D (aka Rebel XSi) and imported the JPEGs into Aperture 3.1.3. When I wanted to import the matching RAW-Files later, Aperture didn't recognize one of them. I didn't change anything at the files. Importing both as a couple works without any problems.
What's the mistake? Can I fix it or is it a bug?

Users have reported problems with Aperture when Projects hold too many Images. How many is "too many"? No one knows -- I keep all projects under 1,000 Images, and even then very rarely go over 500.
Projects should be subsets of your Library.
Aperture was designed around the general topology of "one Project per shoot". From the User Manual:
"Projects: The basic containers used in Aperture to organize images by shoot."
I have found that sticking to this topology seems to keep gremlins at bay.

After importing the transport request status is not changing to imported

Hi Experts,
I have added the data & cofiles from rollout system to sandbox system via sftp on os level. Now when I am trying to import these requests, the requests are not getting imported.
Can any one tell me the reason?
In tp system log, I found the following entry:
ERROR: /usr/sap/trans/cofiles/K999999.DEV : can't open
: Permission denied
OS is AIX
After transferring from rollout system to sandbox system, should we change permissions of the data & cofiles.
Please let me know. it is urgent

How do you edit the event title after importing?

I still have not figured this one out. It's not double click, not control click, not command click, not the "info" or "edit" buttons. What is it?
I am also frustrated with merging and splitting events after import. I am now doing all that in the finder before I import. What a pain! Any tips?

I don't like iPhoto '11 either.
1. I can't change the name of the multiple events in the import window as it was possible in earier versions of iPhoto.
2. It is not possible to merge events anymore in the import window.
3. When I get back to the Events view directly after importing new pictures, the most recently added events do not show up.
4. Worse, multiple earlier events seem to have disappeared all together.
5. When quitting iPhoto, I get the message 'updating library'. After restarting iPhoto, the recently added events do show up without a name but just with a date. Then I can rename and merge these events. The events that had disappeared do show up again.
All together, this feels like a very crappy and cumbersome upgrade...
How do I get the correct functionality back, apart from downgrading to an earlier version of iPhoto?

No records for the workflow after Import

Hello all,
I created a workflow which is triggered after an import I have no records in the workflow.
For sure I added the worflow in the configuration of the Import Manager. I also added in the workflow the trigger action "after import". Nevertheless, the records have been imported but they haven`t been added to the workflow.
The strange thing i sometimes works and sometimes just not.

Hi Peter,
If you are trying to work with workflow on automatic importing there are a couple of configuration you need to set up before it works fine
1) As you said you have given the workflow name in the import manager config options that means you are trying for automatic import in this case check to see that you MDIS is configured properly or not.
2) In the workflow table you need to set the properties correctly such as, set the trigger action to Record Import this will run your workflow each time a record is imported.
3)Set the Worflow as Active
4)Set the launching to immediate this will launch th eworkflow immediately as your rrecord gets into Data manager.
If all these options are set right then I dont think there is any reason your workflow for Record import should not work
