Frame 8 crashes when showing all conditional text

When I try to Show ALL conditions in my Frame 8 file, Frame crashes. I just recently installed CS4 on my system, but other than that, nothing has changed. I have had no problems with conditional text and this file before. Wondering if anyone has had this issue and knows a workaround or fix. Thanks, sandra

I don't use conditional text at all, but several folks around here do and will be along to offer some help.
Can you identify whether this crash is a result of adding a new condition recently? Had showing all conditions had previously worked?

Why is FM10 crashing when I change conditional text settings?

When I go from "show certain conditions" to "show all" in some, but not all, files in a book, FM 10 crashes.
I've tried saving as MIF, then reopening, but it still happens eventually.
Sometimes it happens with the first file I open, sometimes not until after several files have been opened and
had their conditions changed, so it doesn't seem like a memory leak.

I posted previously under "[FrameMaker General Discussion] Internal Error 10024, 9332515, 9332572, 7278063". Log file has been sent several times to [email protected]. Last week, I sent many zips in separate e-mails of the entire project to Adobe Engineering Team for analysis (the project is too big to upload to Acrobat.com). No response yet. I suggested they need to test using a similar conditions as what I describe below.
BTW, I tried the above mentioned MIF wash (every single file of many book files), cut & paste to blank file, rebuild book from scratch, uninstall/reinstall FM10 ... all to no avail. I did trial and error (a shot in the dark) too: reset dictionary library, and choose other default printers (either Adobe PDF virtual printer or another physical printer on the network). Nada. No dice. It still crashes. I am not using Track Changes, so that is not likely a possible culprit.
I am running the latest FM10 patch on a Win7 64-bit HP Mobile Workstation. I have seen misc. posts online about FM crashing with laptops (Lenovo was mentioned), as well as unsubstantiated rumblings about laptop internal services or Adobe Flash or Adobe Acrobat X interferring with FM. Yes, I have many, many conditions present in book files; yes, yes, I have checked all source and target x-refs are in agreement for conditions. The only thing that works is to turn off All Cross-References in the Update Book dialog box. The book will update with that option cleared but crashes with it checked. It is definitely tied to cross-references and conditional content.
It is as if FM runs out of processing bandwidth or memory, both of which are impossible given the laptop has megatons of RAM and hard disk. IT guy here speculated maybe Symantec Endpoint (security pak) is getting in the way, but that has not been substantiated; the process of removing/reinstalling this corporately mandatory security software is onerous and we are avoiding expermenting with it for now. It is disappointing Adobe cannot exterminate whatever gremlins plague FM. As a result, I cannot trust that FM11 is worth the expense (i.e. How can I convince the powers-that-be to approve the purchase when FM10 crashes like a plane without wings?).
I will post any response I get from Adobe to this Discussion and the other one previously mentioned.

I am using TCS2 on Windows XP.

I have several files as part of a large FM book. Each file has the same text conditional tags. Can I, at a book level, set my conditions to show/hide, etc. and then update the book? So far, I only know how to open each file, set the SHOW/HIDE CONDITIONAL TEXT as I need it (not to show conditiona indicators and according to my built expression) and then save and close each file.
Is there a way to do all my files at once? Note- I want them all set the same way... so that might make it easier..

I don't have FrameMaker available right now, so I'm working from memory, using the traditional FrameMaker menus, rather than the FM 9 tools.
Select all the files in the book window. With the book window active, open the View menu and look for Conditional Text. Your settings here apply to all selected files in the book window, so it's possible to set conditions on all or some files files. Ctrl+Click to select non-contiguous files; Shift+Click to select a range of contiguous files.

Is there a quick way to show/hide conditional text to create a book?

I have a set of files that represent chapters. These will be used in two books. Is there a way to show/hide conditional text from the book file rather than going into each chapter and setting show/hide for the book I want to create?

WIth the book file open and selected, select all the files in the book (Ctrl+A), and apply your condition settings. Update the book.

Help! Every app crashes when interacting with plain text files

I recently bought a 13" i7 MacBook Air. I love its design and I found OS X Lion unbelievably fast on it, yet I find myself in a very dark situation, now.
From the Finder to iA Writer, to TextEdit, every single app crashes when working with plain text files. In Finder’s column view I don’t even have to open them: the instant one .txt is selected, Finder crashes.
Creating a new user account seems to fix the bug for that account, but I just spent one whole day copying files from my old work MacBook (where Lion opened .txt files without a problem) to the new account and losing another entire day of work because of a stupid bug is out of question. Also, I feel it would be a very temporary fix. What if the bug presented itself again? Would I have to create a third, a fourth account, and so on?
I didn’t use any migration tool because I wanted a very clean installation.
On top of that, the machine is as App Store–only as one could be. The only “internet” apps I have on it are Chrome (for the occasional Flash video), Movist (I can’t work with Quicktime’s flying controls), and nvALT. I didn’t even had the time to install the Creative Suite on this one. I can’t for the life of me think this is app–related. I suspect it’s some weird OS bug.
I work in advertising, and I do some work in Adobe’s Creative Suite but *all* my copy is stored in plain text files. I always did it that way so that my files would be future–proof. It is kind of ironic now. So please, if anyone as the slightest idea of how to fix this, please, please, help. I find myself with a brand new computer I can’t use for work.

Lightroom 3.2 crashes when performing a library text filter on all photographs

I have LR 3.2 running on Windows XP on a Intel Core 2 E8500 with 4 GB ram. I run one catalog that contains a little more than 51,000 photographs (mostly RAW images). Each time I select ALL PHOTOGRAPHS (in my catalog drop-down on the left), go into the Library Filter, choose TEXT, and type in a keyword to do a search to narrow my photographs down, LR spontaneously crashes...all I get is a Microsoft message asking me if I want to send Microsoft a report and when I click "no", LR just closes. Sometimes when I re-open LR and perform the same task immediately, all goes well. But lately it happens again and again even after I restart LR over and over. This is simply unacceptable as I am constantly needing to search through my entire catalog to find photos with certain keywords depending on the project I am working on. Is my catalog too big? I last optimized my catalog on 10/8/2010. This seems like a bug to me.

Garbled text when showing all opened tabs

starting today when using mozilla nightly android 34.0a1 (2014-08-16)
seeing garbled text when viewing all opened tabs
strangely when I slide my finger up / down there appears to be
two separate text layers overlaying each other both getting rendered

until today this was fine however I did see this some weeks ago which was fine until again today

I can't reproduce this on a Nexus 5 and today's nightly build.

Motion 5 - Keeps crashing when i use the text tool

Just installed the Motion 5. Crashes wheni use the text tool for no reason. the project browser doesn't load too. What happened to apple products? They used to be good.

I had the same issue and what solved it for me was to clean up the fonts.
I moved all my fonts from /Users/me/Library/Fonts to /Library/Fonts ....
that did it for me ... plus it renders the typefaces correctly when you open projects later.

Frame crashing when updating images

I'm running FrameMaker 8 with the 8.0.2 patch on Windows XP.
I am editing an image in that is a tiff in Frame with Illustrator. I will export my image as a tiff with the same file name so the tiff automatically updates in Frame. However, instead of updating, Frame crashes on me.
Is there any way to prevent/fix this?

Are both Illustrator and FrameMaker open when this happens? Why are
you saving in TIFF format from Illustrator? You should try EPS instead
(it supports rasters as well).

Everything runs smoothly, but i have a problem if the table has lots of rows: i get a javascript warning that a script has been running for too long. (The alert goes: "Stop the execution of the script?" the usual javascript alert you get when a script runs for too long)
What i want to achievt is that, if the table contains a lot of rows, the page takes a lot of time to load, but with no javascript involved (it's just a normal slow page).
It seems that in some way the rows of the table are fetched by javascript and since the call is synchronous, it trigger the alert.

Sorry i haven't explain it well...
the app is used to replicate entire databases, or agrupations of tables, from one database to another and it will have to be vendor independent... I'm trying with DB2, Oracle and MySQL. Later i will test it with more.
Then I couldn't use vendor dependent SQL neither configuration parameters. Also I prefer to make the import logging the actions: for restoring purposes; maybe the user will have the option but defaults to the ohter.
I'm thinking about some "strange" query SQL Stardard, like delete from table where (select .... using some kind of counter....

PSCS6 crashes when trying to add text

I am trying to create a picture made up of text that represents the person inthe picture.
I go throught he stages of getting the shadows and the midtones layers together then when I add a text layer once I put in the text the program crashes and becomes unresponsive.
I tried to reduce the amount of text but then only half the text is justified correctly and the bottom half looks as if it is tryong to wrap around an invisible box.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Can the amount of text be set so that I can put a large amount of text to make a picture?

You need to make sure that you have permission to make changes to the document.
How to check the permission. Open the pdf document in Adobe Reader/Acrobat.
Click on File --> Properties. Once the properties windows pops up, click on security tab. Under security please check Restrictions Summary:

Delete text option when deleting a Conditional Text Style

I now have a document with my first real Conditional Text items. We have many distributors with different product numbers. I am using Conditional Text for the product numbers. Great. But! what if we lose a distributor? Right now, if I delete a Conditional Text condition, I am asked what condition I would like to replace it with. What I would probably like to do is actually delete all of the text assigned to that condition, not just delete the condition. As it is now, if I delete the condition, I still would have to go back and delete the text relating to that condition. Not too handy.

Well, only one way to find out. Yes! You are correct. I would never have thought of that. Thank you.
Now that you mention it, I'm not exactly sure why it seemed obvious to me. The real reason that it works isn't simply that Replace with Format is empty, but rather that both Replace with Format and Change to are empty.
If you Find what: specific text - say letter "a" - whose Find format: is <conditionname> and Change to: letter "b" with Change format: Empty, "a" changes to "b" and the condition stays the same.
If you Find what: specific text - say letter "a" - whose Find format is <conditionname> and Change to: is empty with Change format: <differentconditionname>, or different text color, or <characterstylename>, letter "a" remains the same, and the condition, text color, or character style, is applied.
It takes a while to get used to.

My InDesign® CS5 (7.0.4) crash when I select "all unused swatches" (from swatches palette).
This happens in opened document, but also in a new empty document.
• I delete (an rebuild) the préférences of the software.
• I repaired the authorizations of the Mac
Does someone know why?
