Frame by Frame Audio - Interesting

One of my biggest problems with Final Cut Pro is what I call the "Tease", a feature that I start out with that disappears. Here's one that's getting my goat right now...
I used to be able to hear the audio when I moved frame by frame with the arrow keys over a certain clip. Each time I move a frame you hear a little JUT, which helps me get specific in my editing, otherwise I have to hit stop at the exact thirtieth of a second.
Does anyone know how to turn this feature back on that I once had that disappeared?

Keep in mind that there are MANY very simple keyboard shortcuts. As a result, it's very easy to accidentally toggle something on or off by hitting "option" when you meant to hit "command" or the like.

  • After Bad Frames Audio is Out of Sync

One of my HDV video clips has a few bad frames and after that point all the audio is out of sync, but only within Premiere Pro CS4. When I play the clip in Windows Media Player, all the audio remains in sync after the bad frames. I opened the clip in CS3 and the same problem occured. How can I get it to play in sync within Premiere, like it does in Windows Media Player?

I have the same problem with CS5 and some source video I captured off air.  Strangely enough, in one instance I had 2 corrupt frames but the audio survived the problem, but in another case, the audio stream became noise.  Hopefully someone will answer this question on how to fix this in Premiere.  As you point out, media players seem to have no problem dealing with the missing information.

  • Match Frame Audio clip to find Video?

    Hi
I have an audio clip in the timeline. Is there an easy way to find the original video that corresponds to it?
If I Match Frame to source it just brings up the audio clip to edit in the viewer. Doesnt give me the matching video.

In the Viewer, click on the VIDEO tab up on top.

  • HELP! Frame by Frame Audio Editing

I am having a problem going frame by frame on my timeline, I can do it but the audio is not outputing through my speakers nor is the VU meter changing with the audio. I can play at normal speed and everything works fine but if I try to slow down, go frame by frame or speed it up the audio does not react. I know this is probably a simple soultion but after an hour of fooling around I can not seem to figure it out. Someone please help!

Do you mean that you'd like to hear the audio as you scrub through your timeline frame by frame? You may not have audio scrubbing enabled. Try hitting Shift-s and see if that turns it on.
Let me know if that works,
    Cameron

  • Dropped frames; audio out of sync; won't capture

Running the Intel of version of 3.5
I'm getting dropped frames and this message:
"The audio sample rate of one or more of your captured media files does not match the sample rate on your source tape. This may cause the video and audio of these media files to be out of sync."
AND... when I get the dropped frames everything before that point is not recorded and captured to my bin.
    What's going on?

Double check your Easy Setup matches the tapes audio
    rate and also:
Does the tape have any LP bits on it?
Al- I understand the Easy Setup, but how do I know the tapes audio ra te and whether it has any LP bits (whatever that is) on it?

  • Music To Frame - Audio in CS5.5 Pro

    Hey everybody,
Never thought waiting seven years to update my software would be such a relearning experience...lol
In Flash MX to add audio into a movie clip, animation, etc, all you needed to was add the file to your library and drag it onto the frame in which you wanted the audio to play. However when I try this in CS5.5 nothing happens. I'm sure there's just a different implementation now, and I don't know what it is.
    Thanks for the help guys

If you have the sound file in your movie's Library, and you select that sound, you should be able to test the sound right in the Library. This will let you know that the sound works in Flash.
To attach a sound to the timeline, select a keyframe. In the Properties window you should see a listing for sound. There should be a pulldown listing of all of the sound files in the Library. Select the sound that you want to play. The sound will begin to play from that keyframe when you play the movie.

  • How do I apply a 2 frame audio mix across an entire sequence quickly

As an Avid and FCP editor I sometime come across things which one can do seemingly easier than an other. One of these is the ability to add an audio mix to a selected range of cuts on the timeline. Is there a simple way to do this on FCP 5.
    Many thanks
    Keith

    Hey Keith
    I miss that too!
    You can nearly do it.
If you drag a segment from the timeline on to the canvas windo, the edit overlay appears and you can choose Overwrite with Transition which will cut the segment back in with a mix at either end.
    It works with multiple segments
It doesn't like gaps in the track (you could fill them)
It doesn't work across multiple tracks
You have to line up the source button things so it cuts th segment / run of segments on to the right track.
You can't control the duration of the transition but you might be able to change the default to transition somehow.
Are you finishing the audio or is it guide for a dub?
Do you really need the mixes? A dubbing mixer laughed at me the other day for religiously putting in 2f mixes, took them out and I'm damned if I could here the difference (except where there's a bad click)
    All the best

  • Photo Frame Question

I know that this is not an Apple Question but I haven't found a forum for this and I was curios if anyone else had run into this issue:
I have a Sylvania 10" Digital photo frame (I do not recommend this frame to anyone. Support on it is lousy to non-existant and I am still waiting for a replacement remote control for it which I ordered in March. I am using my harmony remote to control it right now.) which displays photos pretty well. It's resolution is 1024 x 600. The issue that I am seeing that I wonder if anyone else has seen on their digital photo frame, is that when I transfer photos from the mac to the photo frame and then view them with the quick view progam, the images are corrupted. Even Disk Verify shows that the jpg images are corrupted yet the photo frame has no problem displaying them. They look normal with no corruption at all. The files on my hard drive are fine with no corruption at all. Since I won't be using the frame as a backup for my photos anyway, its not an end of the world issue but I am curious if this happens with other digital photo frames. Interestingly enough, the disk utility sees the frame as having an unknown or unspecified partition with an MS-DOS Fat 32 format on it.
    Thanks,
    Patrick

    Hello tweetybird53,
Thanks very much for purchasing the HP Digital Photo Frame.  I regret that you are having some product and support challenges.  Please email me with your HP case number or your product number, serial number and contact information so that we can get your issue resolved quickly.
The answer to the question, "Is there an HP service depot near where you live that you can take it there?" is no.  Currently, customers can not drop off products at an HP service center.  There is a process to follow that entails mailing in the product if it is coded for repair.  In some cases, the defective product is simply replaced.
I look forward to assisting tweetybird53.

  • Scrubbing half or quarter frames within a clip?

    Hey Everyone,
I'm trying to synch some audio tracks to video and want to make sure that I get it perfect. I recall there being a way to set points in between frames to get super specific, but can't remember how to do it. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Thank You!

The key point to recognize is sub frame audio editing ONLY works within the Audio tabs in the Viewer. You can't do it in the audio tracks on a Timeline. The Capt'n's video does a good job explaining it.
Here's a tip - Once you have loaded your clip into the Viewer, if you find the Viewer image too small, either drag the Stereo (or Mono) Tab in the Viewer free of its normal position then click on the expand to full screen button on the top of that window to stretch it out (I put it on my second monitor) or, drag the Stereo (or Mono) tab from the Viewer and dock it in the Sequence Window.
Either one will give you a much larger view. When you close the audio window, it re-docks back to the main Viewer window.

  • Burned DVD skips frames (?) on DVD players

I recently used my EyeTV 200 to encode some video, which I then exported to iMovie, and then sent it to iDVD from iMovie. I then burned the video to a DVD using iDVD. The burned DVD plays fine on my computer, but does not play correctly on two stand-alone DVD players (one purchased several years ago and one purchased within the last year). During any significantly speedy motion in the image, the moving parts have a jerkiness to them, sort of like it is dropping frames, but there is also a sort of ghosting effect, where the person moving on-screen is seen in the current frame and last frame's position. It's very distracting, and I can't figure out how to fix it, because the file plays fine at every earlier stage in the process.
The encoding settings in EyeTV are as follows:
    MPEG-2
    NTSC 720x480 D1
Constant bit rate of 15.0 Mbps
    GOP structure: IBP frames
Audio: 384 kbps at 48.0 kHz
The EyeTV file (8.4 GB) plays fine. Then I exported it to iMovie (which seems to be a straight conversion to DV), and it plays fine in iMovie. Then I clicked the "Create iDVD Project" button. I set up my menus, etc, in iDVD, and it plays fine there as well. iDVD is set to encode using Best Quality (the video is 1 hr. 15 min. long). I burned the project to a Maxell DVD-R 8x single-layer disc using a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-111D*. As I mentioned before, the resulting DVD plays fine using Apple's DVD Player software, but exhibits this weird skipping on both an old and a new stand-alone DVD player.
I have looked everywhere for some sort of preference setting to boost the quality of the rendering in iDVD (thinking that might be the problem), but the fact that the final product plays fine on the computer seems to suggest that that isn't the problem, but I don't know what else it could be. I have plenty of free space on my hard drive, and a dual-processor 1.25 GHz G4 should be plenty of horsepower to encode this thing.
Any insight into this situation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
*: The Pioneer DVD burner is an after-market internal drive that I bought from MCE:
    http://www.mcetech.com/dvdr16xdt-d.html
which is supposed to be 100% supported by Apple software (I think it's supposed to be the same model Apple uses for their superdrives). However, System Profiler lists it as unsupported:
    PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-111D:
    Firmware Revision: 1.06
    Interconnect: ATAPI
    Burn Support: Yes (Unsupported)
    Profile Path: None
    Cache: 2000 KB
    Reads DVD: Yes
    CD-Write: -R, -RW
    DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +RW, +R DL
    Burn Underrun Protection CD: Yes
    Burn Underrun Protection DVD: Yes
    Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
    Media: No
But iDVD and the Finder both recognize it without any complaint (I've also used it to burn several DVD-R discs in the Finder - with no problems).

EyeTV is what produced the original file. I knew that re-compression could produce problems as I moved from EyeTV to iMovie to iDVD to burned DVD, so to avoid that as much as possible, I put the settings as high as possible - that's why the EyeTV file is an 8.4 GB file for 75 minutes of video, which is a pretty large file for that amount of video.
But like I said, there is no problem with the quality of the EyeTV file, or the iMovie file, or the iDVD file. They all play beautifully. The burned DVD plays beautifully when it is played on the computer. The only problem is when I try to play the burned DVD on a stand-alone DVD player with a TV.

  • Synchronize 2 camera footage -- How to nudge smaller than frame increments

When synchronizing dual camera footage in FCP, my method of lining up audio events, how do I nudge the tracks closer together without snapping to the frame? In Pro Tools, it is called Spot editing. I can't find info about this in FCP Help. Sorry for the newbie question. Thanks for your help.

With video you can only edit down to the frame level. In fact I don't know of any video editors that let you move beyond frames as that's how video operates. You can edit and slip audio on a sub-frame level. Look in the manual under sub-frame audio editing for an explanation on how to do it as it's a tricky (but useful) feature.

  • Export a frame

I want to export a frame, but when I click "export" in the menu "Datei" I do not get the items "film, frame, audio" (how described in the manuel). What to do?

You are right, I looked in the manual for CS3, because I didn't get any manual for CS4. I tried your solution, but I hoped, that there is an easier way to get a frame as a bitmap. But thanx.

  • How can i add an audio transition?

Adding an audio transition, basic for an editor, is impossible with fcpx??
Or video, or video and audio or nothing???
I've an interview and i need a 2 frames audio transition to eliminate the distorsion on the cut, the famous "click"...the only way is to do a split cut and to move the audio handles?...i think it's crazy, when on FCP7 was only a right click!!!!
    thanks to all!!!

We wont to talk about the trim? The famous beautifull New trim interface??
No play around the cut to review the trim, and no possibility to trim going in play!
Match Frame (if it is what you think it is -- try it and let me know) is now called "Reveal in Event Browser" and is available in the "Clip Menu."
I think the shortcut for play-around the edit point is now shift-? (question mark). There are preferences to control the length but they are broken -- it's a known bug.
yeah, the precision editor while pretty seems a bit lacking in practical usage at this point.

  • Adobe flash audio scrubbing won't work, can't lip sync

The  feature where you drag the red line across your timeline and it will plays that segement isn't working. It won't play when i drag my "red line" across the timeline instead it only plays the audio when i hit play and won't stop until the frame ends.
I just finished a project a day ago and didn't have this problem so im confused.

Assuming the frame audio is set to Stream and not Event in properties? Flash is updated as well also?

  • Working with audio | Learn Premiere Pro CS6 | Adobe TV

This movie introduces the robust audio tools in Premiere Pro. Abba Shapiro shows how to preview and trim audio in the Source Monitor. Whether it’s an audio-only file or the audio channel of a video clip, Abba shows how to enable sub-frame audio scrubbing and trimming. He also shows how to interpret clips to combine or separate stereo channels. At the same time, he introduces fundamental audio tools that are essential to working with audio in Premiere Pro.
    http://adobe.ly/To00IZ

Is it possible to specify what audio channels to capture during capture from tape? It seems Premiere wants to mix the lavaliere mic and camera mic into a stereo track all the time, and then I have to modify audio settings and force it to mono in the project. In Final Cut pro 7, I am able to specify which audio tracks to capture, and this simplifies things in editing. I cannot see anywhere to do this in Premiere....
