Frame latency across VPLS

Hi all,
What should be a normal round trip time (ping beetwen the end hosts) for a 64 byte Ethernet frame crossing the VPLS cloud? VPLS cloud is built on two ASR9000 in the core and two ME3600x as the PE routers. The core is using 10G links, PE are using 1G. There is QoS implemented in the network, but there is no frames dropping.
Should it be in microseconds or a few miliseconds?
Best regards,
Krzysztof

Minimum round trip time would depend on physical distance (about 5 us per km), number of hops, and bandwidth of links (the latter two determine serialization delay, per hop - e.g. 64 bytes takes .5 us at gig).

  • Frame Blending Across Loop Point

    Hi all,
I have a 5 frame animation running at 30fps, with the speed adjusted to 10% and Frame Blending checked. I wind up with a nice slow motion fade from frame to frame at the desired speed, but when it loops I get a hard jump. Any way to frame blend across the loop point within Motion? Or another way to achieve this look (without editing them together in a separate file)? The source is actually 5 individual PNG files, if that helps get the juices flowing...
    Thanks!
    SyddyS

Go into the timing pane of your image sequence. Twirl it open and set the end condition to loop. Then drag the end of the image sequence to the right in your mini timeline for as long as you want it to go.
Motion will loop the clip and it will appear as a single long clip so the frame blending should work across the last frame and first frame in the image sequence.

  • Latency across a firewall

We have determined that a delays of > 10 ms across a firewall causes problems with clusters members joining etc... If there a settings that cat be tuned/changed that allows for this type of latency across a firewall?
         Thanks...
         Tom :-)

    Tom,
What you see is not a breakdown in clustering protocol, but a partial communication failure in your environment, specifically in the TcpRing, which is one of (and optional) methods of node death detection.
It looks like Solaris times-out an open TcpSocket used by the TcpRing after 7 hours of normal operation in your environment. Coherence attempts to reconnect four times in-a-row (as specified in the tangosol-coherence.xml) and terminates the cluster service after the last attempt fails, after which the cluster service is automatically restarted.
I would recommend either find out how to control the timeout value or disable the TcpRing.

  • Table of contents and the order of multiple text frames flowing across pages

    I have a multi-page document,
on each page, there are 2 text frames:
    - A text frame for containing a PAGE TITLE
    and
    - A text frame, flowing from one page to another containing: a MAIN TITLE, a SECTION TITLE, and flowing body copy (on page 1); and another MAIN TITLE, a SECTION TITLE, and flowing body copy; (on page 2)
When I generate a TOC, using the Page, Main and Section Titles styles, the expected outcome would be:
    Page Title             1
       Main Title           1
    Section Title          1
    Page Title             2
       Main Title           2
    Section Title          2
But because the Main title and Section titles are all within one flowing text frame and the content flows across multiple pages, and each of the Page Titles are within 2 separate text frames, the actual TOC generated is:
    Page Title             1
       Main Title          1
    Section Title         1
       Main Title           2
    Section Title          2
    Page Title             2
...where the TOC lists all the TOC items from the flowing text frame in one grouping first, then the individual free standing text frame title.
QUESTION: Is the only way to automatically rectify this is to combine all the text into one flowing text frame? or is there another workaround?
Have played with the left/right, top/bottom alignment of the individual text frames; also experimented with the object layering, to no avail..
    Thanks for any insights.

I ended up using a product called InFlow from EmSoftware.  The solution offers a plugin to InDesign that builds pages on the fly when there is overset text.  The setup is pretty minimual and it seems easy to use.  The only drawback that the plugin MAY have is that it does not remove the pages it built if the pages are not needed from record to record.  I could not test this myself since my test data did not test more then one record, but when I turned my proof set off, the pages that were built were still on screen.  It does seem to work well for what we are looking to do, so if anyone is looking for something that will build pages on the fly in situations where the "Dynamic Story Handling" is not available, I would suggest looking into this.

  • Using a Separator in a Repeating Frame - Solved (Sort of...)

    Hi Folks,
I've got a report with a repeating frame going across it. I want to put a slash ('/') between the entries but NOT at the start or end so it looks like:
Acceptance Test/Before Use Test/After Use Test
Is this possible in Reports and, if so, how can I achieve it? There's nothing obvious about it on these forums or on MetaLink...

    Hi ,
those entries are fields for repating frame right?
    ok then,
    2 ways to do this.
    1)
take bioler plate with text '/' for the required columns you want to seperated in the layout.
    2)
concatenate the columns with '/' in the query itself for the required clumns u want
    in the data model
    try with this.

  • High latency causing problems... and frustration w...

I have a femtocell that requires the latency on any single hop on the internet to be less than 240ms, any longer than this and it drops my phone call. On contacting the supplier of the femtocell, they asked me to use Traceroute to see how long the path to a server was (I used Google.com) and many of the hops were over 240ms, some as long as 4922ms.
On scanning this forum, there are other users out there (mostly gamers) who are suffering from latency problems. Has anyone had any success resolving the problem? I can send copies of the Traceroute outputs that clearly show high latency between routers with addresses such as interconnect2-gig1-0.manchester.fixed.bt.net, core2-pos0-6-1-0.ealing.ukcore.bt.net and core4te-0-7-0-0.telehouse.ukcore.bt.net, to anyone that may be able to help.
The best I've so far had from BT is that:
    - It's a problem with the femtocell supplier: no, the supplier requested from ISPs their longest expected latency prior to releasing the femtocell and set the timeout to be equal to this
    - It's a problem with my Mac mail: the fact that I use a Mac has absolutely nothing to do with network latency
    - There's interference between my mobile phone and my wireless: this isn't the case (I'm a wireless communications engineer by background) and, if it was, almost no-one would be able to use mobile phones given the number of wireless access points in homes and offices.
Every time I get a call from the call centre it's someone different, who doesn't understand the problem, doesn't know what a femtocell is and hasn't read the notes which clearly state that I want to be called on my mobile, not on my home phone. It's looking like my best option may be to try to find another ISP who doesn't have this problem.

I think you have the result of what is maybe a 2 fold issue.
Femtocell technology is still a relatively new technology as you;ll  know from your job.
If you think about the security issues of running a femtocell, that;s to say what it actually has to fulfil,
Security for femtocell networks spans several distinct requirements. The service provider must authenticate users as they arrive on the network. The RF link between the handset and the femtocell must be secured for both user and control plane traffic. And lastly, the mobile network traffic must be placed into a virtual private network as it traverses the wired ISP network to ensure that the traffic is protected while transiting this public network and only authorized users can forward traffic to the mobile operator's network.
There is however one very important element of femtocell security which makes the implementation significantly more complex. This relates to latency as you say, which must be carefully managed especially for applications such as VoIP/SIP. Compounding this challenge is the unknown nature of the latency across the ISP network, which has resulted in service providers requiring latency in the femtocell to be minimized, as you say.
If you add to that the fact that the BT broadband system is based on an algorithm packet handled system to ensure data quality across maybe noisy telephone lines, it all compounds to add to the problems of the running of the femtocell.
In other words if you have a highly error corrected and interleaved broadband line, it's not going to help the femtocell out by adding additional latency to what is already a fairly complicated situation where data handling is concerned....

  • ME 3800 X - QinQ across service instance

    I realize a test rig of ME-3800-X.
I use the MPLS and QinQ.
EoMPLS for pseudowire is Ok in test rig.

    In fact, everything is ok.

It has QinQ frames within the bridge domaine not frame Vlan.
    Question:
Is what I can do this even if the documentation does not indicate.
    Thanks for your comment.
I am french, sorry for my bad english language.
    Cdlt,

    Hello Cdlt.
but what is the  question? Is it something like "how come that even if my configuration does not match the guide my setup is working?"
    Is that one?
Also, does it work when your config is matching the EVC guide instead (the one in green on your pdf)?
Quick notation is that even if the configuration is not matching the guide  the final result is the same as you moved the pop operation of the outmost dot1q tag from the ingress PE (the one on top) to egress one by configuring 'platform rewrite imposition tag push 1 symmetric' on the SVIs.
So you either strip the qinq tag on ingress or on egress the frame looks like the same way when the last mpls label is popped.
Does this answer to your question or am I still missing the point?

  • Frame sizes in slideshow

I am trying to create a slide show that has a different image frame size for each of the slides within it.
The images on each slide are different widths, I have a horizontal transition between each slide and want the amount of white that appears between images to appear consistent as it slides across which isn't the case if the frame width is the same across each one.
I have tried with the 'Edit together' box unchecked and with items on each page locked but it continues to change the frame size across all the pages whenever I alter any of the slides.

I’m not sure if it will achieve the effect you are looking for, but if you use a Composition Widget instead of a Slideshow Widget, you will have more control of the layout.
If you make heavy use of the OOUI (the blue arrow menu near the upper right of a selected object) you can get the various widgets to do some things that are very different than their names would suggest.

  • Can I "globally" insert some time/frames?

I'm working on this demo where it moves along at its own pace
(the user has no control). So I'm trying to make sure each portion
is on screen long enough for the average person to read. (They can
always replay the section later). I have a lot of layers and assets
(say about 20 or so per scene). It's becoming very tedious to add a
second of time here and there. I have to move all kinds of keys
over - especially if I make an adjustment in the middle of the
scene, I have to adjust everything afterward.
I think this would be alleviated if I could just select say
frame 100 and insert X frames "globally" or across all layers. If I
could do that, the stuff to the right would be automatically pushed
over and I wouldn't have to adjust anything, plus I could add the
frames in the middle of a section and not have to touch keyframes.
So far though, I cannot seem to find a way to add frames/time
    like this. Is this possible?

you can 'drag' the cursor at a frame position across (down
really ... or up) multiple layers to select them, goto a
non-selected frame, click and drag to see.
Then with a column of frames selected, right-click, and use
'insert frame' to add one frame to all selected layers. just keep
the selection in the same position and repeat.

  • Repeating frame with anchor

    Hi all,
I have a repeating frame in a report and it is anchored to a text field object (variable height). This repeating frame is Across/Down mode, but its behavior is like a Down mode repeating frame. Could anyone help me?
    Att.
    Diogo Domanski de Souza
PS: I've already verified the width of the repeating frame and it fits twice per row.

For easy to illustrate, let's call the variable height text field F_1, and repeating frame R_1. When you anchor from R_1 to F_1, the position of the anchor is very important and it affects the location and formatted size of R_1.
For example, if the anchor starts on the left-top corner of R_1 and ends on the left-bottom corner of F_1, that means formatted R_1 and F_1 will anchor together with 0% on the left of F_1 and 0% on the left of R_1 from the original position. In this case, you should see two columns per row.
If the anchor is in the top-middle of R_1 and bottom-middle of F_1, that means formatted R_1 (which has different width than you see on the layout model because it could expand across) and F_1 will anchor together from middle of R_1 (50%) to middle of F_1 (50%). Because of the anchor condition, you should notice even the left position of formatted R_1 would be different than on the layout model if R_1 still can contain more than one column.
In summary, the anchor is defined based on the percentage of formatted object. Once you understand that, you can adjust the position of the anchor to achieve what you want.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    -Shaun

  • 3 Frame Offset Digitizing In 10-bit??

I logged some footage to capture in FCP using my AJA ioHD. I chose the ioHD 525 10-bit Uncompressed setting and for some reason, it captured everything with a 3-frame latency although the TC was correct on the clips in the browser.
So, I re-captured using the ioHD 525 ProRes422 and it's fine? Why would it capture incorrectly with the other setting? I used to capture all the time with my ioLD at 10-bit Uncompressed with no problems.
    Thanks in advance.
    Eddie

Even though the numerical timecode is correct in the browser, the visual first frame of the clip is 3 frames behind. For example, if I set the in-point to 59:59:59:29 and it's the black frame just before the first frame of picture, it will capture the frame at 01:00:00:02. But the clip will numerically be correct in the browser.
If I use the ProRes422 codec, this doesn't happen. I checked my ref signal and it's all fine. It plays back 10-bit uncompressed perfectly, just starts capturing in the wrong place.
    Any ideas?

  • JMF / JFFMPEG - Slow / frame jerk

    Hi !
I'm developping a mutimedia player, so I use jffmpeg to extend JMF possibilities
    format.
My problem is that videos are really slow (I think it's due to the decompression process), so I would like to know if it's possible to create some kind of buffer
to limit this frame latency or if my code below isn't the best way to do it.
Here how I create my player :
      private Component c=null;
      private Player pl=null;
      private MediaLocator ml=null;
      ml=new MediaLocator(video);
      pl=Manager.createRealizedPlayer(ml);
       //Mute sound
       pl.getGainControl().setMute(true);
       c=pl.getVisualComponent();Thank you.

    Hi !
I'm trying to play Divx and Xvid.
After creating the player I'll take the component with
c=pl.getVisualComponent();and then in another class I add it to my JContentPane of my JFrame.
I've tried FOBS4JMF too but it stop while initializing the player (no error or anything)
Thank you for your help jcparques.

  • VPLS TLS and EVCS support?

I have been trying to read the VPLS section on the following page to what versions of VPLS are supported.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps368/products_module_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00801e5c06.html
    I have a few questions:
    1. What flavors of VPLS does Cisco support?
    2. For the config exmaple on that page, is it TLS of EVCS?
    3. Can I attach multiple vlan interfaces to a VFI?
    4. Related to last question, does the packet that enters the VPLS over the core maintain the VLAN header of is it stripped? I'll have more questions about this depedning on the answer I get.
    5. I am seeing conflicting reports in the forum and in the docs about which SUP card I need. What do I need to get my 6509 to work with VPLS?
    Thanks,
    Greg

    1. I apologize. I guess I should have been more clear. I understand which draft Cisco used, it was more around vlan based and port based implementations I've seen on other vendors.
    2. Sorry, I meant in the VPLS section. The section was a bit confusing saying where it kept mentioning the TLS and EVCS. But it never clearly showed which lines make it EVCS and which lines make it TLS. Are you saying that EVCS is actually just a reference to Martini?
    3. Thanks. I guess this means vlan headers are maintained across VPLS.
    4. I think I understand now. Mainly I was trying to see if Cisco's VPLS also did the same type4(vc-type vlan) and type5(vc-type ether) as they did with Martini. From what I iunderstand, Cisco's current VPLS is type4. Correct?
    5. So for VPLS, I need at least a SUP2 MSFC2 with OSM+. For Martini, if I have a SUP720-3BXL, what card can I use to support MPLS core interface? Will a standard GE card work?
    Thanks,
    Greg
