Frame Rate Error

I am trying to move a video file onto final cut pro to edit and I either get a unkown error or frame rate error. I have 3 files from the same camera and the others transferred just fine. I have tried to convert to .mov or .avi, but nothing works. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Indy

Open an H.264 video codec file on two machines (one of which is more powerful than your current one) and compare the data viewed in the Movie Info (Command-i) window.
QuickTime, by design, drops frames to insure playback. You'll see the same issue when viewing any HD movie trailers. I get poor frames rates from anything above 480.
Newer HD (1080i) videos may play at less than one tenth of the designated frame rate on older machines even though they use data rates that should (technically) supported.
Blame it on advances in computers. I remember 90X60 "videos" at 8 frames a second that would "stall" during playback. Now we all want HD movies.

  • Frame Rate Error playing back h.264 encoded files in QT

I originally posted this in the FCP HD forum, but was told that I might be able to get help here.
I really like the h.264 codec, but I have to use Quicktime Conversion, instead of QT Movie, when I export in FCP. I get a 'Codec Error' when I try to export as a QT Movie. That is the first problem, but I work around it.
The frame rate issue comes up when I try to export at larger screen sizes like 640x480. I have no problems at 320x240, but when I move up to the larger screen sizes the resultant QT mp4 plays back at 1/2 the specified frame rate, no matter what frame rate I try. It is really bizarre.
I tried lowering the key frame number to reduce the processor load on playback, but this had no effect. This was a tip I picked up here.
I tried lowering the bit rate, too. The only thing that 'fixes' it is to go back to the lower screen size.
The problem is reproducible when the file is played on other (faster) computers.
    Any ideas?
    thx

  • Premiere Pro EDL not loading correct frame rate in SpeedGrade

Having trouble getting an EDL generated from PPro to open properly in SpeedGrade. The EDL export comes into SpeedGrade as a 24fps sequence even though the PPro sequence is 25fps. Then when I try to link the media in Sg the I get a mismatched frame rate error. Most annoying and I can't figure out where it's going wrong. Don't want too use Dynamic link because I can't have grading layers in Sg using that workflow (as far as I can see, though I'd be happy to be proved wrong). Any ideas anyone? Cheers. Pete.

I have just created a new project in Speedgrade, then edited the options to the matching frame rate
then I close out Speedgrade, use the Premiere Pro dynamic link and then the new Speedgrade frame rate has remained and now matches
I have heard if you add an adjustment layer in Premiere Pro, then link to Speedgrade, you can utilize that for possibly what you require
I just create my looks in Speedgrade and apply through Lumetri in Premiere

  • FCP ERROR when trying to convert variable frame rate Panasonic P2

Ok, yesterday I was able to convert variable frame rate footage so it rendered out nice slo mo's via DVCPRO HD Frame rate converter in FCP 6.0.4, it worked perfect. I tried it multiple times - So I know it can be done... Today however I created the same "easy setup" in FCP I used yesterday, and it wont work?
it comes up with the error:
"An error occurred during processing, unable to conform source media FCP" is there some setting that by default switches"
has anyone heard of this happening? it seems like a program error... but I could be wrong... I haven't been able to figure it out on my own.
    does anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds like you have done a very thorough job of tracking down your problem and a temporary solution. Just one question. Is the footage from the HDX-900 that you say...

flagged in camera as being 24fps or are you just trying to convert it after the fact?

  • Error with Timecode when frame rate is 24 fps

Working on Premiere Pro CS5.5 on Mac. The frame rate/timebase of the sequence is 24 fps. When I burn in timecode on my video, timecode display becomes incorrect if I start timecode at the hour.
    1) If I enter 01:00:00:00 for Starting Timecode in Effects Control, "timecode overlay"  becomes 01.00.03.14
    2) If I enter 02:00:00:00 for Starting Timecode in Effects Control, "timecode overlay" effect becomes 02.00.07.05
    3) If I enter 03:00:00:00 for Starting Timecode in Effects Control, "timecode overlay" effect becomes 03.00.10.19 and so on.
    It works fine if
    a) starting timecode is 00:00;00:00 and if sequence time length is under an hour
    b) or if the sequence frame rate/timebase is 23.976
This is weird. What could be causing it.

  • How to get the frame rate of my application

    Hi again...
How can I get the frame rate of my application?
I also want the frame rate value to be the title of the frame, updated every second. How do I do that?
    thanks in advance...

To get the path where your application has been installed you have to do the following:
have a class called "what_ever" in the folder.
    then you do a litte:
    String path=
    what_ever.class.getRessource("what_ever.class").toString()
That get you a string like:
    file:/C:/Program Files/Cool_program/what_ever.class
Then you process the result a little to remove anything you don't want:
    path=path.substring(path.indexOf('/')+1),path.lastIndexOf('/'))
//Might be a little error here but you should find out //quickly if it's the case
And here you go, you have a nice
    C:/Program Files/Cool_program
which is the path to your application.

  • Re-connecting media to different frame rate clip

    Hi guys,
Wondering whether anyone can help me out to solve an error I've made...
So, I've basically completed an edit (some episodes on Final Cut Pro X, some on Final Cut 7) only to find out that I'd transcoded the media at the incorrect frame rate, 23.98 instead of 25fps. Yup, pretty big error. And now I need to redeliver the projects in the 25fps format.
I've transcoded a clip to the correct 25fps rate and tried to reconnect that clip to the 23.98fps one in the timeline, but I'm unable to reconnect as the clips are of differing frame rates.
Has anyone got any ideas how I can reconnect the clips or any suggestions that will make this situation easier to rectify rather than copying out the entire edit which will cause me to spend a week crying into my keyboard.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
    Olly

    Hmmm...
Tried this but it brings in the media that is 23.98 and there's no way I can tell to link to the new 25fps clips. Unless there's anything else I can do? Any other way to match the clips? (the 25fps clips are that little bit longer in duration) I also have some edits in fcp7. By using cinema tools in that would I be able to change the frame rates and link up to the new 25fps?
Cheers for the advice though Russ, this way does give me the template of the 23.98 edit so that I can match the new 25fps shots to, but it's gonna be a long process.

  • Relink project clips with different frame rate

Somehow the clips in my project sequence ended up with a different frame rate (25) than the original media files (23.95), and they are no longer linked -- maybe this happened during import from iMovie.  When I try to relink project files to source media, I get an error message saying they cannot be relinked because they have a different frame rate.  I changed the sequence framerate to 23.95 (by creating a new project with 23.95 as the frame rate, then copying and pasting the other timeline into it), but all the clips remain at 25, so the problem remains.
How can I change the clip properties to frame rate 23.95 so I can link to the original media?
    Thanks.

The media got unlinked importing the project and events from iMovie to Final Cut.
I've attached screen shots with all the specs.

  • Frame timeout error using Configure Trigger3.vi

    Hi all,
I'm triggering the frame capture of an .avi with an RTSI connection.  However, I keep getting a frame timeout error when I use the IMAQ Configure Trigger3.vi.  I don't get any timeout errors when I just use the IMAQ Generate Pulse3.vi but I am trying to sync the frame capture to an optical switch.  If I just use IMAQ Generate Pulse3.vi, I get a .avi but the frames are completely out of sync with the switch, but if I use both IMAQ Generate Pulse3.vi  and Configure Trigger3.vi I get nicely separated images but it takes an age and ends up in a timeout error.
I want to capture e.g. 500 frames, over the course of 2 s - so I've set my frame timeout to be 2000.   At my current acquisition rate (31680 Hz per line (1024 pixels)) 500 frames corresponds to a total of 1.578 s (images are 100 pxls in height).  This is much less than the total scanning time.  Where am I going wrong?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hey Miika
What are the hardware you are using. These vi's only work with specific hardware and this may be why they are not functioning correctly. For example the Configure trigger3 vi only works with the following PCIe-1427, PCIe-1429, PCe-1430, PCIe-1433.

  • How do you change the frame rate (or fmp) of a project once you have already started?

I have been working on a project for a long time now, and I just reliezed that the frame rate of the project was 25 where as all my clips were in 30. Is there any possible way for me to change the frame rate even though I've already started the project? or do I have to start again?
    thanks

    Hi,
I've had a really good search through our documentation and website but there's no previous record of that error code. However, a quick google search turned up lots of things on MatLab user groups and the MathWorks forums.
MatWork's official stance is that the PCI 7342 is not supported in MatLab. They have a list of supported hardware here:

  • After Effects CC import "Sequence Footage" frame rate settings in "Import" preferences

Just started using the new AE CC (v12 as Adobe will not refer to it as) I noticed one thing that seems to work differently from CS6 and that is in the preferences for import Sequence footage settings.  It doesn't seem to work normally, at least for me.  I don't know if this is an issue related to how AE CC works with the cloud but the dfault frame rate for sequence footage importing is 30fps.  I am trying to import footage that is natively 23.97 at 24 fps.  So like in CS6 I go to Preferences - Import - Sequence Footage - frame per second and change it from 30 to 24 frames per second.  Closed the software, opened it back up, checked the settings and saw that they took, it still says 24 frames per second like I told it.  But when I import a piece of 23.976 footage, it comes in at 23.976 as opposed to the 24 fps I set it as.  Same goes for 30 fps footage, it comes in at 30 fps and not 24.  User error is always my first assumption, I'm not proud i just want it to work, am I doing something wrong or just confused?  Thanks for any help.  p.s.  help is not someone responding with, "I don't know" or "I don't have AECC yet".  I know somebody is going to!

    Hi Tim,
WOW!  Thanks for the super-fast reply!  As soon as I posted this I realised I should have mentioned that I am importing DPX files.  I do import quicktimes as well but know that the footage import does not apply to a single file, only a sequence of files.  But I still wonder if I may be either doing something wrong or am just a little confused.  I have been using After Effects since CS3 doing compositing for film and I always use DPX sequences.  I did a bunch of comparing and back and forth with AE CS6 and AECC while trying to figure this out.  I always set my preferences up when I upgrade before I start working and I always set them up the same.  I have been using CS6 since last July and it still works the same.  What I did is imported five or six different DPX sequences, some were rendered out as 24 fps, some at 30 and some at 23.976.  Assuming AE looks at the metadata to decide how to auto interpret, AE CC opened them all at their native frame rates of the just mentioned 24, 30 and 23.976 respectively, even though I told it to import at 24fps in the preferences.  I also imported the same files in AE CS6 and they all opened at 24 fps like always.  I know I can change the frame rate in the "Interpret footage" option, that is what I have been doing today so that I can work with footage in 24fps but since I have it set in the preferences to import image sequences at 24fps, I am perplexed as to why it does not do so, so I do not have to interpret the footage to my preferred frame rate, as is the case in AE CS6 as well as it was in CS 5.5 and CS 3.  Since I was lucky enough to have an Adobe employee chime in Tim, I would be curious to see what you may find if you recreated this scenario.  Would it be possible for you or someone at Adobe to set the sequence footage import frame rate to 24 fps in the preferences then try to open a piece of footage that is natively 23.976 fps in both AE CS6 and AE CC?  Like I said, I certainly beleive I may be doing something wrong but I would be very curious to see what you find on your side.  I would not be suprised if it imported at 24 fps in AE CS6 and 23.976 fps in AE CC.

  • How to change Flex Application frame rate at runtime

    hello,
i have Flex application that need to change the Frame Rate at
    runtime.
when i am changing it by using the slider component, here the
    code:
    private function onChangeSlider(e:Event):void
    frameRate = sliderFR.value;
    trace(frameRate);
    <mx:HSlider id="sliderFR" x="452" y="765" width="378.2"
    minimum="1" maximum="50" liveDragging="true" snapInterval="1"
    value="25" change="onChangeSlider(event)"/>
the value is changed, but the frame rate is not changed.
when i insert the binding to the <Application> tag i
got error on this one, because i can't bind there items for the
    application level.
how can i change the Flex frame rate at runtime?

    i found the solution!
in Flex application you have frameRate properties that
doesn't work at runtime in the ActionScript code.
if you have a video that you want to change the speed of it,
you need to change the stage.frameRate (of all the Player itself).
and there is a catch here. if you will try to change it right after
the application will start (like in: creationComplete event) you
    will have a runtime error.
what you need to do is, change the stage.frameRate value
after the all application is started from a button or other event
    in the system.
this is working grate for fast/slow FLV playing
    enjoy!

  • How to determine the accuracy of the frame rate using a Basler sca640-70gm?

    To whom it may concern
I am guessing that the time between each frame varies from a nominal set frame rate.
How do I set that nominal frame rate?
How do I determine what the actual (frame by frame) frame rate or time between frames was in post pressing of the "video" image.
    Thank you,
    Todd
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It is almost impossible to measure the frame rate accurately by measuring the time between consecutive frames.  The latency of sending the images over the ethernet means they won't arrive at the computer with the same exact spacing they were taken at.  Also, measuring the length of one short interval in LabVIEW is also very difficult.  Windows latencies and other issues could make your measurement be off by quite a bit.
The only way I can see to verify the frame rate is to use a digital input into a counter and wire the shutter signal directly from the camera into the digital input.  You could program the counter to measure between the rising edges of the shutter signal, and you would find out the frame rate is indeed very accurate and repeatable.
The only other way I know to accurately measure the frame rate in LabVIEW is to measure the time over a large number of frames (thousands) and divide the number of frames by the total time.  Any minor errors in measuring the timing of a single frame go away with the large number of frames.

  • Export XML in right frame rate  for resolve?

    Hi!
I'm in serious need for some help! When I import my exported XML sequence from premiere in to DaVinci Resolve 10 lite, I get an error message saying "The imported sequence frame rate (25) must be the same as the project frame rate (23,976)." All of my settings in Premiere that I can think of is set to 23,976fps, but if I understand the error message right, DaVinci claims the XML is 25fps... doesn't make any sense at all. I've tried for several hours now getting this to work, but it won't.
I would really appreciate some help with this one, I'm in a hurry (as always, we're behind schedule). Worked with Davinci many times before, never had any problem with it.
    Regards
    /Patrik

I am not a Resolve user, but could it be that Resolve has been set up for a 25fps project? And maybe the lite version restricts your frame size?
    Just curious.
