FrameMaker 10 Save as PDF and landscape pages

Using FrameMaker 10 on Windows XP Professional SP3 32 bit system - When I use the Save as PDF function on a book containing both portrait and landscape pages, the landscape pages are clipped to portrait mode. If I print to Adobe PDF, the page orientation is correct in the PDF, however, no bookmarks are generated. If I check the Convert CMYK colorsto RGB setting in the PDF Setup for Selected Files dialog box, then the page orientation in the PDF is correct, and the bookmarks are generated as they were in FrameMaker 8.
Is there a method to this madness?

I have Acrobat 8 Pro. The explanation of the RGB mode with XP makes sense. I did not know that. Makes me wonder how Frame 8 was producing all the nice PDFs we have used for the last couple of years.
I tried that setting because I saw others were having issues with that and wondered if there was a relationship between the two. Just a guess.
Printing to a file and distilling it does not produce a PDF at all.
Thanks for your help.

  • How do I convert a FrameMaker file containing both Portrait and Landscape pages into PDF?

I have recently converted to FrameMaker 9 and Acrobat 9. In the FrameMaker manual I am creating, most of the pages have Portait orientation, but some have Landscape orientation. However, when I convert the manual to PDF using Acrobat Distiller, the Landscape pages become Portrait. This wasn't a problem when I converted the manual into PDF in previous versions of Acrobat Distiller, it appeared after I installed Acrobat 9. In other words, the FrameMaker file has worked before. I have also tried this on three different computers to make sure the computer is not the problem. Does anybody have any ideas that I could try to make this work?

Jorunn, did you ever resolve this problem? If not, I've got a solution for you.
In FrameMaker, select the book you want to create a PDF of, click File > Print, and select Adobe PDF as your printer.
Click Properties and make sure you have the selections you want.
Back on the Print Setup dialog, leave the Paper and Orientation as both Letter and Portrait respectively.
On the Print Book dialog, select Print to File and browse to the correct location. Make certain to save this as a PostScript file (name.ps) and at the Safe Book As field, you want Single File selected.
Again on the Print Book dialog, click the checkbox for Generate Adobe Data and click PDF Setup. On the PDF Setup for Selected Files dialog, at the PDF Job Options, select Press Quality or make the appropriate choices for your situation for Settings, Bookmarks, Tags, and Links.
With Adobe Distiller open, File > Open and browse to the .ps file you indicated earlier. Also verify your Default Settings for the PDF are correct. When Distiller is finished, you can double-click the PDF file to open it and check that your portrait and landscape pages show correctly.

No. Pages does not edit PDF. Just does PDF an output.

  • Save as PDF and Save PDF as PostScript options in the Printer dialog are not supported.

I downloaded Indesign CS3 trial and liked everything about it until I attempted to print to postscript and got that message. Nothing I have tried has helped. I have seen in various forums that others are having the same problem, but haven't found any solution offered. I am running Tiger 10.4.10 on a new Intel Imac with 3G ram. This is a procedure I use very often in my workflow, and have never had this problem with CS2 on my PC or other Macs. Is there a solution? I downloaded the .1 update and installed that and it didn't change anything.

    PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME.
Its the first time Im using print booklet option to save my file. I have the same problem when trying to save as pdf and get the

I'm trying to save a .pdf of a booklet of a facing pages document of A4 size each facing page for a whole size A3, then hope to let the pages be correctly arranged by inDesing, then print and staple.
Meaning pages will be like this - Page #60 left side [of the A3] - page #1 right side [of the A3] , page # 2 right side[of the A3] - page #59 left side[of the A3] etc...
I CANT DO IT. I tried to follow Melvin Thompson , but when I choose save .ps and open it in preview all I see is independent a4 pages and just the left ones , .. How can I save my file as .pdf ready to be printed in a3 ?
    I really appreciate any help.

  • I am using CC adobe Acrobat to combine multiple pdfs and add page numbers. Mac users can no longer read the page numbers but pc users can.

I am using CC adobe Acrobat to combine multiple pdfs and add page numbers. As of about 2 weeks ago the mac users can no longer read the page numbers they get a font error message and see only -- where the page information should be. The pc users do not have this same problem. When I replace our regular font (URW Grotesk) with a system font (Verdana) everyone is able to read the page numbers. This is a new issues, I have been creating these documents in the same way for years without a problem. I have been on hold and on and off calls for the last two hours, I keep getting hung up on once I find someone in adobe support to talk to!

    Hi KnoopL,
Are the Mac users using Preview to view the pdfs or Adobe Reader?

  • Certain pop up windows are not apperaing on my screen.  Save as PDF and Doc preferences never appear

Certain pop up windows are not apperaing on my screen.  Save as PDF and Doc preferences never appear, and lock me out until I press return.  So they are active, I just can't see them.  Any ideas?

They are obviously off the screen somewhere. Did you have a dual monitor set up at one time? You can try increasing the resolution of your screen to see if you can get a part to show or maybe just resrt the preferences (Cmd(Ctrl)+Opt(Alt)+Shift as you restart AI) to reset the defaults.

  • How do I export from PDF to Word when PDF has both portrait and landscape pages in it?

Most of the pdf is in portrait but a few are in landscape in the middle of the document and it totally screws up the rest of the document. Help! AND the portrait page size is 8.27 x 11/69.

Looks like you have A4 pages. I would copy the PDF and then rotate the landscape pages (or portrait) individually (use the tools, not the view rotation) and then do the save to DOC or DOCX. That might do what you want. I would have expected it to notice the orientation, but I guess not. You did not mention the version of Acrobat. If you have not done the updates, you may want to do those first. Your issue may have been address with the updates.

  • PDF custom landscape page size - - content squashed portrait

I'm trying to create a PDF for an MS PowerPoint file with a very large page size, 46" x 36" (landscape). I'm using Acrobat 7.0 on Windows XP.
In keeping with guidelines at www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3bbad46c/0 I selected the printer properties and created a new form with the desired values, entering the dimensions as if it were portrait, 46" height and 36" width. I also created a custom Adobe page size using the same dimensions. Under "Layout" I chose "landscape."
The output file has the correct dimensions with a landscape orientation. However, the content is squashed onto the left side of the page with a very wide left margin, as if Acrobat were trying to fit the content into portrait-oriented dimensions. Words are overwritten on top of one another and it looks horrible.
Just to check, I went back into the form preferences and the page size and individually changed first one and then the other to have the correct landscape height and width. Neither approach worked.
    Any thoughts?

Oops, sorry, looks like I'm in the wrong forum.

  • MS Word 2004 print/save as pdf - mysterious blank page

    Hi,
I'm using Microsoft Word 2004 with OS 10.4.6. When I use the Save as pdf feature under the Print dialog, I keep getting blank pages in the pdf that don't appear in the Word Doc itself.
The Word document contains 30 pages. The first page is a jpeg graphic. I managed to get it to print fine the other day, but after my wife fixed a few spelling errors, I got a blank page as the second page in the pdf. Strangely enough, there is no blank page there in Word. I turned on invisible characters in Word and couldn't find any stray characters. The first page is a jpeg graphic that takes up 75% of the page.
All of the pages are formatted the same, portrait 8 1/2 x 11 with standard margins. Anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Power Mac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   MS Word 2004 for Mac

    Hi,
I tried pulling out the margins all the way the the edge, but I'm still experiencing the problem. I also tried reducing the image size significantly with no success. Any suggestions?
I also tried deleting the image. With the image gone, the extra page goes, too. The page with the section break is still there but mysterious page #2 is gone. When I import the image again, though, I re-create the problem.
I just realized I didn't try the 'Use Printer metrics to layout document' that Paul suggested and might look into that.
Any other suggestions? I hesitate to do it because the document is somewhat elabourate, but I might try rebuilding the first few pages in a new document to see if I add the image first and then add the text if it will solve the problem.
One other question. When I reveal invisible formatting, it does show two paragraph marks in the footer. This is the same for all footers on every page in the entire document. Could that be causing the problem? If so, do you know if it is possible to delete only the footer on the first page?
One other clue: I used to have a graphic on the back page and now that I think of it, there was a blank page after it, too. It sure sounds like your tiling description...
    Thanks again for your help.

  • Printing Document w/ both portrait and landscape pages

After some searching, I was able to create PDF forms with LiveCycle that had a mix of portrait and landscape content.
However, when I go to print the document from Acrobat Professional 8.0, it prints the landscape pages in portrait mode, thus cutting off the right side of the page.
When printing on computers with only Acrobat Reader, the pages all print properly. Is there a way to fix this?

If you just want a page the same size as the rest of the report but with the text printed sideways, you can do that in Pages.
If you want a fold out page (2 sheets wide) then you will have to make a second document for the wider sheet and, after skipping a page in the original, manually insert it after printing.
Alternatively the material can be scaled down to fit.
Hopefully in Pages '10 we will get spreads.
…as well as real color management, crop marks, spot color, slugs, direct selection tool, ability to select objects under other objects, a usable drawing tool, object library, user created shapes, convert text to outline…

  • Buttons to save as .pdf and as .xlsx

    Hello everyone,
I have used the following code to save as pdf but what I would like to do something similar not exactly that (found the code in here Macro
to create Excel data to PDF file. )
    Sub SavePDF()
        ActiveSheet.ExportAsFixedFormat Type:=xlTypePDF, _
            Filename:="C:\PDFs\No." & _
            ActiveSheet.Range("AY8").Value & ".pdf", _
    Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("A1:I50").ExportAsFixedFormat _
            OpenAfterPublish:=False
    End Sub
    - What I want is saving the file automatically by getting the name from three cells. For example K10, A10, K12 and if the name already exists in that folder than automatically put an underscore on the end or something similar.
    - Furthermore I would like to save data only from Sheet 1 (My Sheet name is: Testing) and page 1 and not the whole sheet. Is that possible?
    - Moreover, make the file as read only
    - To end, as title says, I would like to add another button to save the sheet that I am working at as it is and not the whole workbook using the same customization as for the pdf.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Ioannis,
Base on your code, it is used to export the current sheet to pdf.
To save specify sheet to a different file, we could use
    Worksheet.SaveAs method.
To check whether file is exist, we could use Dir method.
    If Dir([file path]) <> "" Then
    MsgBox "File exists."
    Else
    MsgBox "File doesn't exist."
    End If
To make the file as read only, we could use
worksheet.Protect to lock the worksheet. If someone want to change the data, he needs the password. The
Workbook.Protect method can protect whole workbook.
