  • Replacing fonts, characters disappear

    I have a problem with the fonts.
    At my company we are changing postscript fonts (Adobe FontFolio 8) to OpenType (Adobe FontFolio 11), and replacing fonts from indesign, characters disappear (for example, replacing the Helvetica Neue by Helvetica Neue LT Std) and some text boxes are empty. Do you know why it can be?

    Yes, I have cheked it. Some text frames are empty. But only if I click "Change all", with "Change" and "Change/Find" it does well.
    I have found the text frames are empty only in documents complicated, with many charts and tables.

  • Is there an easy way to replace fonts in Photoshop ?

    Is there an easy way to replace fonts in Photoshop without clicking on each text layer? We just got a new font system, so now our fonts don't match up. Looking for a fast/easy way to replace the fonts like in InDesign or Illustrator.

    Actually (You probably can guess what I’m driving at) Scripting could be used to automate such a task, but it would not really be »easy« unless one has some experience in the matter – if text-items contain a mixture of fonts it might even get kind of »complicated«.
    Still, depending on the quantity of files to be edited, the OP could try asking in the Scripting Forum if someone might not have a Script for something like this already …

  • Default replacement font

    Hi, i need to change default replacement font from Myriad to Segoe UI. (as if i get psd with missing fonts, i want PS to replace them with Segoe)
    Is this possible? If so, how?
    Thanks

    Mike,
    How did you build it? I thought I followed the instructions in the PP-release-notes.html file to complile the RI. I'm getting an error. As root, in the linux-i686 directory I entered the command...
    make J2ME_CLASSLIB=personal JDK_HOME=<your-java-home-dir>\
    CVM_GNU_TOOLS_PATH=/usr/bin J2ME_BUILD_STATUS=_fcs\
    CVM_DEBUG=true CVM_JVMDI=true CVM_SYMBOLS=true
    ...where <your-java-home-dir> is my jdk home and I get...

  • Replacement font

    Hi,
    I am using 2 diff Sapscript forms for priting a document. Both the forms make use of font A_SIMP to print some common data on them. The problem is both of them print the text using different fonts other then A_SIMP. In one of the scripts the A_SIMP is replaced by Courier and in the other form it makes use of CNHEI. I want it either to be replaced by same font or it should make use of A_SIMP font itself for printing. How can I achieve that?
    Thanks for your help and for going through my problem.
    Vivek

    Thanks Subramanian,
    But the issue is if the font is not supported then it should use the same replacement font while printing. Why does it make use of different fonts to replace when I am printing on the same printer. I am making use of SAPWIN device type.
    Thanks,
    Vivek

  • Replaced font still appearing in missing fonts

    Hi All,
    In my FrameMaker template I was missing a font called "Palatino". I changed the font in the template to another font that is available with me.
    I changed the font in every Paragraph tag and Character tag in the template. And did Global Update. I double checked everything.
    I did it manually in one of the files and imported to the other files.
    But in some of the book files, I am still getting the missing font alert for "Palatino". It is a mystry for me, where I am leaving some track of the old font. I am 100% sure the font do not appear in any of the Paragraph tags and Character tags in the template
    Is there a way I can search for that font in the book files.
    Please let me know. I quick help will be highly appreaciated.
    Regards,
    Com

    Hi,
    Font info is also stored here:
    Stored table tags or in a deleted table title
    In a left/right master page, if your document is single sided and you had deleted the master page of the other side
    Master pages
    Reference pages
    Graphics files
    You can also open the MIF file (preferably with MIFBrowse: http://www.grahamwideman.com/gw/tech/framemaker/mifbrowse.htm or in another text editor) and search for the font name.
    Or you can deactivate "Remember missing font names" in the Preferences and then open your file. FrameMaker will permanently replace Palatino with another font. Only if the font is used by a graphics file, FrameMaker will still try to find this font.
    Best regards

  • Is it possible to replace fonts used in a PDF?

    Hi. I have a PDF that was created by a third party. I contains a couple of fonts that are not available on my system, and for some reason they won't swap for other fonts. When I open the PDF I get the message "Cannot find or create the font 'WP-MultinationalBCourier'. Some characters may not display or print correctly."
    Although the PDF looks OK to me, it won't print on the printer down in the print shop. (That printer is very fussy and will not print PDFs unless the font situation is perfect.)
    I can't even tell where this font is used. It's over 500 pages, so I can't check every paragraph. I do not have access to the source files, and going back to the third-party (who created the PDF) is not really an option.
    My question: Is there a way that I can force Acrobat to swap out the 'WP-MultinationalBCourier' font and replace it with some regular font? As in, on a permanent basis, so the print shop printer won't ever know that odd font was used?
    Thanks

    Hi Ed
    I used to spend hours working out the same problems. There's good news and bad news. First though -- what version AA are you using.
    Bad news is, unless you can get hold of the exact fonts used to create the pdf -- and then put them on your system -- there will not be much you can do, unless AA has vastly changed their procedures.
    Even if you get the exact font and add it to your system, I am still not sure AA will "see" it, depending upon if the font was originally embedded into the pdf or not, when it was made. Logically, it would appear that if not embedded the program would recognize it on the system. But, unfortunately, this has not always worked for me and I do not know why myself.
    Unless your required font is something like Hebrew or Chinese, the program will automatically replace your courier to the next likely (internally programmed) selection, so you will not notice any problems. (my experiences & problems were always with foreign languages)
    You can replace a font or make a correction by blocking the sentence or word, then using your right-click context menu, then selecting Font, and making the replacement.
    Perhaps the best way would be so save the file as another .doc file and start all over again, but with the font your printer will accept?
    Is that an option?
    let me know.

  • How can I search and replace fonts?

    iOS 7 doesn't support the Adobe workhorse fonts I've most relied on for years, and arbitrarily changes them to iOS built-in fonts when I link my standard documents and templates to the iPhone, via iCloud. There's no apparent logic to how it does this; a Pages document in Minion Pro, a serif font, gets changed to the sans-serif Helvetica. Myriad Pro may come out in Times New Roman. I accept that the iPhone's limited number of fonts makes translation necessary, but does Pages offer a way in which I can search and replace inappropriately substituted fonts for more logical alternatives?

    You noticed the first one yourself: the Found item list seems to randomly jump around the document -- I believe you are correct in your observation it may be due to the object construction order. That tells me, by the way, something about your lot numbers that tou didn't mention: your text is not one continuous long threaded story, but it's all or partially in disconnected etxt frames. The Found list does return everything inside a single story in the correct order, but it goes over each separate story in the order they were constructed.
    The only solution is to gather all of your lot numbers, *re-sort* them according to the page number they appear on (and some sort of Worst Case Scenario is when you might have more than one lot number frame per page; in that case you also need to sort by textframe, top to bottom -- yet even worse is if you also may have these textframes side by side!).
    Only then you have a reliable counting order.
    This isn't too bad. We can just extend the method I offered for sorting top-to-bottom/left-to-right in Re: Working around the frame selection order issue in CS 4 and make it also include page numbers:
    function byPageYX(a,b) {
        var
            aP = a.parentTextFrames[0].parentPage.index,
            bP = b.parentTextFrames[0].parentPage.index,
            aY = a.baseline[0],
            bY = b.baseline[0],
            aX = a.horizontalOffset[1],
            bX = b.horizontalOffset[1],
            dP = aP-bP,
            dy = aY-bY,
            dx = aX-bX;
        return dP?dP:(dy?dy:dx);
    myResults.sort(byPageYX);
    Or something like that.
    As for actually implementing the above I cannot be of any help with Applescript.
    Once we're dealing with sorting I think you're much better off in Javascript anyhow.

  • Automate replacing font in a text field in thousands of documents

    Hi,
         We recently discovered that bar codes we use on our forms do not scan accurately when printed on certain types of prined. To resolve this issue, we replaced this font with a new font.
    Going forward any new form that we create will use the new font. But we have thousands and thousands of existing forms with the old bar codes. Can anyone give any suggestion on how to automate changing the bar code fonts in this forms.
    If we manage to automate this, we will save months of manual effort.
    Please get back to me if you have any suggestions that might help us.
    Thanks for your time and help
    - George

    I answered my own question regarding this with the following code
    1. Set the TextField value to a variable strChar
    2. Based on the indexOf value of strChar "UserName: Some UseName" which is 9.
    3. Separate the first 9 chars using a Left javascript function and assign the to a variable strLeftChar = "UserName"
    4. Separate the remainig chars using a Right javascript function and assign the to a variable strLRightChar = "Some UserName"
    5. Then do the following:
    //Make the caption visible
    pricingNodes.item(i).caption.presence = "visible"
    //Set the text field caption text equal to strLeft
    pricingNodes.item(i).caption.value.text.value = strLeft;
    //set the text field value text equal to strRight
    pricingNodes.item(i).rawValue = " " + strRight;
    //set the caption font weight equal to bold
    pricingNodes.item(i).caption.font.weight = "bold";
    Not that neat as a solution, but it does the job if this helps anyone.

  • Trouble with FrameMaker 9 fonts

    I have a user that is trying to
    open a file but he keeps getting an error msg stating "Document named "whateverthefilenameis".fm uses unavailable fonts. To reformat the document the using avaiable fonts, click ok." It was also give a message of "FrameMaker did not update the generated files in '133 Baseline.book' because of errors during the update process."
    I can't find any information on this. any help would be greatly appreciated.

    When you open a file that uses fonts that are NOT on the user's system, you get the message about unavailable fonts. This is usually the desired response, especially if the file is worked on by different users, each with a different set of fonts. It allows the user who does not have the fonts to edit the file without changing the fonts.
    That being said, sometimes users feel they have all the correct fonts, but still get the message. This typically occurs when one is changing all the fonts from one version of a font (say Times) to another version (say Times New Roman). This means that somewhere in the file, there is at least one reference to the unavailable font, typically somewhere on one of the reference pages or master pages. So, if one wants to get all the unavailable fonts converted to available fonts, then one has to search through the entire file to find them. If it is a simple conversion, say from Times to Times New Roman, then you can open the preferences and unselect the warning about unavailable fonts, open the file and let Frame do the conversion, then save the file with the new fonts, and change the preferences back for safety with future files.
    If a book file has one or more files that use unavailable fonts and you update the book, then you get the message about Frame's being unable to update the book due to errors. The errors are the unavailable fonts. If you do NOT want to change the fonts to available ones, open all the files in the book first, then update the book. You will get the unavailable fonts message for each file as you open it up, but not while updating the book, because the files are already open.
    Hope this helps,
    Van

  • Firefox is replacing fonts with a handwriting scribble font

    today, I have opened up firefox and some sites I am building (using georgia as font) look odd. Firefox is replacing all instances with a terrible scribble hand drawn font. This is only happening on this machine and only in firefox. Safari on this same machine is fine. Firefox on my other laptop is fine too. It's not only my sites either, the entore firefox site (including this page) is in the same awful hard to read font. I thought it might be alocal font issue but it has only just started happening and the fonts work fine in safari.
    Please help!!

  • How do I replace font colors across the whole document?

    So I know how to change a certain font across the whole document.
    I can replace let's say, Times New Roman with Arial throughout the whole document.
    However, what if I want to replace a font color?
    For example, I want to change the black 0,0,0,0 with black 40,30,30,100 across the whole document, instead of searching one by one and replacing the existing color.
    I'm using CS5 on PC

    As Peter says, it is better to do with paragraph styles. The above shows where.
    In general, you should be using p. styles with little or not local formatting (depends on use). And for local formatting that is repetitive, character styles should be used.
    Take care, Mike

  • Replacing Fonts Removed with Font Book

    Font Book shows that several fonts that I frequently use, such as Times New Roman, have problems. If I remove them, where do I find replacements--the MS Office install disc, and do I have to reinstall the entire MS Office?

    Start with Font Management in OS X
    and if that doesn't solve your issues, see:

  • Easiest way to find & replace fonts?

    I need to replace a font in my document w/Arial, and I don't know the easiest way to go about it.
    For some reason I assumed there was a simple "Find & Replace" method, like in InDesign or Quark, but I can't seem to find it.
    I've tried the "Find/Change" > "Character Format" tool, but it doesn't seem to work...Any suggestions?

    Use the Paragraph Designer to make the change at the tag level by specifying Arial instead of whatever is in use.
    If you have a number of tags, you can select them all in the document and then use a global command in the Para Designer to apply the new font to all selected tags.
    If you have a book, once you've got a chapter set up, import the updated formats too all chapters by selecting them in the book file and Importing Formats to them with the edited chapter as your source.

  • Find/Replace fonts

    I have a document that has a contains a font I don't have on my system. Upon opening the document, I'm presented with a screen informing me that this font is missing, and giving me the option to replace it with something similar. When trying to replace the fonts, I get an alert box saying, "Some text was on a locked layer and the font could not be replaced." So I go into the document and maticulously select each piece of text and change it manually. I cannot find any layers that are locked.
    After making the changes, I save the file and close it. Then, when I reopen it, I'm still asked to replace a missing font!?! I've gone through every bit of the file and cannot find a single instance in which this "missing" font is used.
    Does Illustrator have some slick way of locating the missing font in the document?
    (I'm using Illustrator CS5.5)
    Thanks.

    You can ulock all layers with on comamnd fomr the layers flyout menu >> unlaock all layer. That command only is availabel if you have a layer locked, otherewise you will nto find that available.
    Also do a object >> unlock all. This unlocks any individually locked itmes, regardless of the layer they were on.
    1000+ layers: never seen a file with so many layers, someone must have spent alot of time on this file.
