Framemaker 7.2 Windows XP SP3  Excel copy/paste

After installing SP3 on Windows XP I find that I am no longer capable of doing a copy/paste of Excel tables in a Frame document. The result is a very small frame with no object inside.
All worked fine when I unsintalled SP3 an I was able to create tables by copying them from Excel and using the Edition/Paste special in Frame.
Anyone having same problem and found a solution other than uninstalling SP3
Tks

Two (sort of) workarounds:
1. Use Edit > Paste Special (Rich Text Format). However, if you have color-shaded cells, they covert as black fill; in FM, changing the text in those cells to "white" is a workaround to the workaround. :|
2. Copy/Paste the table into Word, Save As the Word to RTF, copy the table in Word then, in FM use Edit > Paste Special (Rich Text Format). Plain text and cell shading converts fine; however, calculated numbers get trashed. Another :|

  • Click 2 call and excel copy/paste problems

Recent posts from late May claim that the click to call issues were resolved in late may. Today is June 21/12 and I resolved the problem yesterday by un-installing the click to call program. Prior to that cut and copy requests were losing the marquee around copied cells and when target cells were right clicked the context menu did not include Insert Copied cells.
Some problems may have been addressed but the problem still exists. It's too bad because click to call was a good feature.

  • Applescript excel copy paste repeat...

I'm trying to set up a simple applescript to copy a cell and paste it repeatedly down the column to the last record.
    Can some one help?
The closest I could find is this:
    tell application "Microsoft Excel"
      copy range range "I1"
paste special range "I2:I5" what paste values
    end tell
This works, but I need the script to determine the number of rows with data and paste that many times.

    Glad to help!
    A few things to add:
    1.  You only need a tell...end tell for the whole script as you're only addressing the one app
    2.  It would be useful to enclose the whole of the script (inside the tell Excel) in the
tell active sheet of active workbook ... end tell
    construction.
    3.  At the end you can substitute the copy/paste special with:
set (value of range ("F2:F" & rowCount)) to (get value of range ("E2:E" & rowCount))
    4. If you do have a header row, then the following changes in the concatenation section (but, I suppose, given that it's going to be deleted it doesn't really matter!)
set formula of cell "E2" to "=(IF(ISBLANK(D2),,C2&\" \"&D2))"
fill down range ("E2:E" & rowCount)
It should end up looking like this:
    tell application "Microsoft Excel"
tell active sheet of active workbook
      -- remove unneeded columns
                        set mycolumns to range "M:ZZ"
      delete mycolumns
                        set mycolumns to range "D:G"
      delete mycolumns
                        set mycolumns to range "A:A"
      delete mycolumns
-- Insert 2 columns to work with
      insert into range column 5
      insert into range column 5
--contencate addresses from C&D into E
set formula of cell "ZZ1" to "=MATCH(REPT(\"z\",50),D:D)"
set rowCount to get value of cell "ZZ1" as integer
set value of cell "ZZ1" to ""
set formula of cell "E2" to "=(IF(ISBLANK(D2),,C2&\" \"&D2))"
fill down range ("E2:E" & rowCount)
-- copy a Contencated address values to column F and delete columns C, D, E
set (value of range ("F2:F" & rowCount)) to (get value of range ("E2:E" & rowCount))
      delete column "C:E"
              end tell
    end tell

  • Copied/pasted group of components lose many properties

    (Xcelsius 2008 SP1 FP1 5.1.1.0 (Build 12,1,1,344), Windows XP SP2)
After copying/pasting 120 or so grouped components all at once, the Value, Check box and Toggle components seemed to lose most of their properties.  The main container within the group of copied objects is a panel container that included nested groups of labels, rectangles, values, check boxes and toggles.
Specific example: All Value components originally had a title position of "Left" and specific font name/sizes.  They also had specific X axis offsets.  And of course, each was pointed to a specific spreadsheet cell.  The copies, however, reverted to the respective defaults for all properties minus the text of the titles.  (This is of course not an exhaustive list of the affected components/properties).
I have already had experience copying smaller groups of components and did not see this effect, so I wonder if there is a threshold of some kind here.

Thank you, Purnima.  Despite my fears, copying and pasting smaller groups within the larger nesting appears to be working out pretty well, so this may become a non-issue for me.  Nevertheless, it would be great if a future version of Xcelsius would support larger groups within a copy and paste.

  • Copy / Paste into Skype

In windows 7 you can copy/paste into skype no problem.
In windows 8 you can no longer copy/paste into skype.
This seems like moving backwards so I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong.

I was wondering if I can set my area code as a default when placing calls? Sounds trivial but I make a lot of business calls and like to copy/paste the number directly into Skype’s call box, most do not have the area code attached which is needed unless I can find a way of getting Skype to use a default area code. Skype needs all 10 numbers to complete the call, so I'm having to enter 916 each time I place a call.

    Thanks, Kevin
Since Skype is an international service, setting a default domestic area/city code is not possible.  If you are regularly calling the same group of people, you could define them in the contacts list of your Skype program or phone app.  When you do that, you could put in the international country code and area/city code before each number.  If you are using a Skype app on a mobile phone (i.e., iPhones), you can also make use of the phone's contacts list - if they are set up with the international country code and area/city code for each number.

  • Framemaker 7.2 and Windows XP SP3

For any Framemaker 7.2 users out there who does not already know, Framemaker 7.2 will not work with Windows XP SP3.
A security file in Win XP SP3 causes problems with OLE graphics imported into FM. The problem will only rear its head when you try to save the document and the following error box appears:
"An Internal error occurred while writing imported graphics in this document. The file has been saved, but has lost some image data. Please report this fault to Adobe Technical Support."
Why only OLE imports are affect is beyond my skills as I would expect this problem with referenced imports. Adobe are not aware of this concern and have no fix. There are a couple of fixes, but neither are ideal.
    1. Remove all OLE files and import them as referenced files, then save.
    2. Roll back Windows XP to SP2. (This is what I had to do as I have a vast quantity of documents with OLE files.)
If anybody has further info please feel free to discuss.

    Andy,
It's just OLE, not FM7.2, that is the problem with the SP3 fix. This
has been reported in the Forums numerous times. Using OLE with FM has
consistently been a "not recommended" feature and Adobe is aware of
    the issue.
As you point out, the only two fixes known, to date, are either import
by reference or rollback to SP2.

  • Excel 2007 "Hang" issue when copy/pasting.

    Hi.
I have a user, using terminal services from a HP thin client. The server is a Windows server 2008 R2 SP1, Office 2007 SP3. The user is trying to copy from a IBM access session into Excel, sometimes the Excel will hang, an needs to be forcefully closed down
using the Task Manager. I have made sure that the IBS Access is using the clipboard function on the server. Other users can copy/paste from this program without any issues. The server is fully updated and the office pack also.
Any suggestions on where to start?
    Regards Martin

    Hi Martin,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Thus from your description it seems that particular user is facing the hangs issue, please correct me if there is anything misunderstand from my side.
Does this happens for all Excel file with that user?
Please try with RDP 8.1 for user and check the result. Please check the network connectivity is good. As user is copy pasting from IBM session it can create a little delay with file size or corrupt Excel file. The issue might also appear because the size for
Excel sheet would be very high and thus during the logon time it will take a long time to open. Also it may take into hang issue for the users. In addition also check below link for information.

  • Accessing physical floppy disk drive from Windows 8.1 host machine to Windows XP SP3 hyper-v?

    Hi there!
Could someone help up me? I just wanted to ask if it's possible for a hyper-v to access a physical "floppy diskette" drive?
Here's my setup: I have a Windows 8.1 as my host and Windows XP SP3 as the virtual machine. I would need to access the contents of the physical floppy diskette drive from the Windows XP SP3 vm. This is needed, because, currently our customer is still using
floppy disk drives, to most of their in-house applications. I tried to open Drive A: inside Windows XP SP3 VM while the physical diskette from the Windows 8.1 is inserted. But then again, it cannot directly access the contents. Also, I tried to use "virtual
floppy drives" and copy the files from the diskette. But for some reason, their applications do not support it. I did check device manager in Windows XP SP3 vm, but i cannot see the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" option inside the VM.
    Please help!!! Thank you!
    All the best,
    MS CAMPer

HI Carey, thanks for this, But this is under System Center Virtual Machine Manager. I already saw this a while ago.
Anyway, is there a way for Windows XP VM to access a physical floppy diskette drives inserted to Windows 8.1 host machine? I dont intend to use Virtual floppy disks. Only Physical ones.
Please please. Need your help guys! :( Thank you!

Some users reported the same in Chinese and English on another thread . This is not only in Vista but also on XP. I tried on an old XP computer and it worked fine but will not on my top notch system.
Wonder if this has to do with multiple hard drive...Also, Explorer pops up showing the ipod files, even if not in disk mode...

Is your capture TS based on MDT or OSD? Do you have MDT installed and integrated?
I was wrong before, MDT 2013 and ADK 8.1 does not support XP, but ConfMgr 2012R2 does, if you integrate WinPE 3.1 as you already did. Still, your logs shows that you have troubles with Boot Image / WinPE.
    Let me suggest something;
    - Make sure WinPE 3.1 is available from DP. Are you able to deploy TS (Win7) with 3.1? Will it get downloaded?
    - With XP, I felt is more reliable to capture it with a media. So you have XP running, and you execure capture image (created By ConfMgr). So maybe you should try that? Capture Media will reboot your reference machine to WinPE and save .wim file to a share.

  • HP Officejet 4630 cannot install driver. Windows XP Sp3

    Good evening,
I did purchase this printer earlier today and have been on this issue for a couple hours already. The box is not too far, and the printer might go back in soon !
The printer is working fine, it has been connected to my router, the light is always on, it says connected to the wifi system. The wifi connection confirmation page has printed, everything is "Success".
My problem is that anytime i try to install the drivers, the setup searches for a printer that is connected but not yet installed. It notices my printer with the good ip address, then copy a couple driver files and then tells me it fails to install the printer.
The current setup is OJ4630_198, I've found an older version and tried it but pretty much the same results, except that before it stops the installation telling me it fails to do so, it ask me to locate the HP CD on my cd drive, searching for a fax setup installation .png but fails a second later.
I'm pretty clueless, I've tried installing it manually but of course the selection of the Communication Port is somewhat tricky with a wire less printer.  I noticed there is a "Create a new port" selection available in which appears an option named "Hp Discovery Port Monitor (HP 4630 series)" which is oddly my new printer. Tried it but it doesn't work.
I've reset my router, pc and printer several times, tried assigning my printer to a different port number, all ended with the same results. It connects to my wifi, but i cannot manage to install the driver for the printer.  So my printer list is empty atm..
    Thanks for any help,
    Much appreciated

    Hi,
Please Download and run the Printer doctor tool to find and fix your problem
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL50849/mp-135113-1/HPPSdr.exe
If about doesn't work, try to add printer manually
You can try few things which may help to resolve the issue
    1. Make sure your system is up todate. Do a windows update which helps to get alll latest update.
    2. Once step 1 done, restart PC and get the latest software from hp.com. You also can use HP installation wizard which help to get the latest software for you.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL50403/mp-122330-1/hppiw.exe
    3. If you still face the problem, you can do "Add printer wizard" manually. Here is the steps:
    1. Open Devices and Printers by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, and then, on the Start menu, clicking Devices and Printers.
    2. Click Add a printer.
In the Add Printer wizard, click Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer.
    3. In the list of available printers, select the one you want to use, and then click Next. (If your computer is connected to a network, only printers listed in Active Directory for your domain are displayed in the list.)
4.If prompted, install the printer driver on your computer by clicking Install driver. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
5 Complete the additional steps in the wizard, and then click Finish.

  • Does Firefox respect user account control rules for windows xp sp3, anything to do specifically to enable that ?

    xp sp3

<u>edit information copied from System Info troubleshooting: </u>
    More Information
*1)Does Firefox latest version obey/confirm to the rules for user account control for windows xp sp3 ?
    * 2)Need I do anything specific at the time of installation and/or setting up/configuring preferences ?
*3)Or do I need to install Firefox separately for the limited users or in each users account ?
*4)Would it be possible/desirable/necessary to install it directly into some folder of the user other than the common program files folder ?
*5)In any of these situations, should I or should I not make the installation with 'Run As' admin privilege.
*6)If I install separately for the user/s, with/without admin privileges, will the install write to , or enable user activity to write to, the other common windows folders(where user write is otherwise disallowed).
Please kindly clarify. I am waiting for an answer before I reinstall Firefox and a lot of other apps(these were done earlier before creating the user accounts. Please note that I do not mind installing separately for any/all users. But security will be my preference as much as possible(PARANOIA). I am having to deal with a couple of users who cant understand all this and the folks are too old to understand.
    Thanking you in anticipation

    ------------

A far as I recall from when I did use XP the procedure was to install Firefox using an Admin account, preferably the Administrator account.
By doing that the Firefox installer would create Firefox within the programs directory. And each separate user account could then use Firefox. Importantly each user account has a Firefox profile and so have their own separate and individual bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache etc.
IIRC UAC was not available for XP. Permissions and what you could do would also differ; I seem to remember; depending on whether it was using FAT or NTFS. In some setups a knowledgeable admin account user could probably fully access any other account.

  • Installation of Palm Tungten T3 Desktop SW freezes on Windows XP SP3

Had Palm software installed from my use of Tungsten E.  It died, so bought a T3, but running its install program (as the Administrator) results in the screen freezing with the progress bar about 90% done.  Have to bring up Task Manager to kill the install program if I want to switch users or shut down the PC.  Attempting a 2nd install and get the "3 choices" (Modify?, Repair, Remove) dialog.  Choosing "Remove" and the install program freezes with progress bar at 98 - 100.  Next tried removing C:\Palm folder and any references to "Palm*" or "U.S.Robotics" in registry for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
I have also tried re-registering the IDRIVER.EXE as mentioned in article:  "1607: Unable to Install Installshield Scripting Runtime
Article ID: 20727 available at http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/20727_en.html, this even though I have *not* encountered the 1607 error.  Also tried running directly the Setup.exe located in "E:\Palm Desktop" (where E: = CD Rom drive) directly (its version being 7.4.262.0).  All the files at the root of the CD and in the Palm Desktop drive are dated 10/15/2003.
I am running Windows XP + SP3, although haven't updated with any fixes since then.  Still have IE 6.0 installed (I mainly use FF).
Any insights appreciated as to what is blocking this software from installing, or even some way to identify what is happening when it freezes.
    Post relates to: Tungsten T3

Tried the 3 things in http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/39671_en.html
The first 2 items did not change the "freeze" behavior.
The 3rd item was interesting in that I did *not* find the folder "C4350F2398E4D9642B4420EB18230BF0".
This obviously means something:  perhaps, since the essence of this third item seemed to be *deleting* anything with the name "C4350F2398E4D9642B4420EB18230BF0", I would seem to already be in the state that item 3 wants to arrive at?
Have found the following interesting things:
      A.  Since clicking the [Cancel] button does nothing, I choose the [Shutdown], to which I usually get a message stating that "IDriver.exe" is not responding and do I want to shut it down (which I proceed to do).  The machine never does shut down, and I have to use the power button to turn the computer off.
      B.  After performing item A, and starting up the computer, I find that I can start the Palm Desktop just fine.  I can't vouch for the stability, as I don't do anything more, for I want to get a successful install so my old Palm data will appear in the application.
    For what it's worth (&as a refresher):
      1.  I am using the Microsoft Windows Uninstall Utility to delete the "Palm" application, not Add/Remove Programs.
