FrameMaker 9 - Internal Error 9004, 6921628, 9677518, 0 when launching

Hi Adobe community,
I have been assisting a user with this FrameMaker 9 issue that has been returning many many times. When she launches FM9, she gets an Internal Error.
The workaround is to rename the Linguistics folder to something else relaunch FrameMaker 9 which will create a new Linguistics folder. However, the issue returns almost every month and we are not sure why. Any advice on how to prevent the Linguistics folder from being corrupted?
One thing to note is that the user has FrameMaker 7.2 and FrameMaker 10 installed concurrently. She often has FM 9 and FM 10 open at the same time.

I have Frame 9 patched fully, patch 4, in Windows 7 Ultimate running in VMmare Fusion fully updated. I get this error every time I start Frame.
I have the same Frame version and updates running in the same Windows Ultimate running on Parallels Desktop 9, fully updated and it runs fine, no issues at all.
I have removed Frame in VMware several times. completely, with YourUninstaller which cleans all files, folders, and registry entries to no avail. I have deleted and/or renamed the Linguistics folder several times. Changed the maker.ini "sitedictionary=" entry to no avail, (I saw this in another post on another discussion site", didn't work... A side note, Frame 12 runs fine on the VMware machine...
I am at a loss other than Frame 9 and VMware Fusion are not compatible for some crazy reason. Any ideas?

Thanks to Arnis for the tip. Last week I was trying to get a site dictionary working in FrameMaker 9. I still haven't figured that out. But today I got Internal Error 9004, 6920460, 9676766, 0 each and every time I tried to start FrameMaker. I uninstalled some things and ended up using a restore point. But, now I know the problem.
In your FrameMaker 9, if your maker.ini has the following entries set as shown next, Internal Error 9004, 6920460, 9676766, 0 happens the next time you start FrameMaker and you will no longer be able to open FrameMaker 9.
UserDictionary=
SiteDictionary=
However, if you have a value for SiteDictionary, even if the location does not exist, FrameMaker opens fine. Such as:

Internal error in FW CS6 when changing fonts

Has anyone else been plauged by an internal error when using fonts in FW CS6?
Whenever I create some font and then go back to edit that font it won't let me, it gives me an internal error. I have tried deleting the following files > Fireworks CS6.mch, Font Map, Fireworks CS6 Panel Prefs & Preferences... nothing appears to work.
I have since then uninstalled and reinstalled FW.
I'm using creative cloud...

This sounds like the same problem that I have recently been having with FW CS5:
If I try to edit an exiting text entry, the program allows it -- but as soon as I move the cursor out of the text area, it reverts back to the original, saying that the 'file is locked'.
I also get an error message saying an "internal error" has taken place in the program. Then, when I close the program, I get the following error message:
I have been using this version of FW for several years (it's an authentic, registered copy), but the problem began in just the last few weeks. The only changes that I've made to my system in the last little while are the regular WIndows 7 updates. (Could there be a connection?)
I've tried reinstalling the program, but the problem is still there.
If you find how to solve your problem, can you post how you fixed it?

"An internal error has occurred" message when scanning from MX922 to desktop using Windows 7

I am no longer able to scan using my MX922 connected to my desktop running Windows 7 without getting a message on my desktop saying "An internal error has occurred". I have turned the MX922 on and off, I have disconnected both the power cord and USB cable from the MX922 and from my desktop, I have reconnected the USB cable to a different port on my desktop, I have uninstalled all Canon programs from my desktop and reloaded all Canon programs with the MX922 CD, and I have restarted the desktop multiple times. I scan documents several times a week for my business. It has worked fine until today. What do I need to do to correct this problem and get back to scanning?

Internal error cant render database when working on lettering

hello; i just installed fireworks CS5 (CS5 Web Premium) i was working with a font, i wanted it to be outlined in yellow, so i cliked the color for the outline, and i get this error: internal error, cant render database, so i click ok, it comes right back, and will not quit, cant exit program, so did task mgr to end program, but it just keeps coming back if i try to built the words i want outlined, is there a fix for this? Can i uninstall just fireworks, and reinstall to fix it? i would rather not uninstall the suite, there must be a way to fix this. i seem to be able to do other stuff with jpg's with no problems, it is just with any lettering.

check if the user has the rights to start or stop the database services in the new domain. it could be a privelege issue within NT.

"Internal Error" Message from Windows when opening Reader 9 files

When I attempt to open an Acrobat file using Reader 9.0 I get a window with a message "Windows has detected an internal eror.Adobe 9.0 has quit." I am using Vista ( which I happen to detest). There is no error number. What can I do?

yes I do but the error message does not ask me for admin permission. All it says is what I quoted above in #2. I have since even attempted to uninstall Reader 9 and guess what? It will not allow it to continue, error message 1606. Could not access network location. %APPDATA%\ - whatever the heck that means. Again, it would appear logical that the term "access" would indicate admin pemission required. It (windows) did ask me and I did say continue, but it then did not do anything, just keeps returning the above message. These Catch 22 situations with computers seem to congolmerate on my own computer. Directs me around in circles with no results possible.

Internal error 9004, 6354857, 6355023, 6352921 using FDK

I'm using an FDK client to read FrameMaker files, and for one particular file, FrameMaker produces the above error code , with no other explanation
as to what the problem is. I've done investigative groundwork, what seems to be happening is that it is falling over when processing a footnote - we iterate over all the text items in footnotes and it's when we hit the 5th text item and call F_ApiGetTextProps that the error message appears. I was wondering if anyone had any insight into what might be causing it?

Thanks for your response. Yes I have stepped through our FAPI client's code to the
particular line after which the error dialog appears in the FrameMaker UI. As for whether
the text location is valid, the text items belong to a footnote. We iterate through each paragraph
in the footnote like so:

and iterate through the F_TextItemsT object returned, checking the text item type and processing it accordingly.
The text location we retrieve the formatting properties is determined by

I've inspected thisTextItem and it appears valid: the u.sdata member has text in it and the location object seems valid too.
Generally we are just using objects that the FAPI provides for us, nothing we really instantiate by ourselves, so it's a bit puzzling.

Why am I getting an "internal error", just "Assertion failed" when calling createKeyword

Here is my code. It is called inside a function running under LrTasks.startAsyncTask. The calls to "Util.writeLog" confirm that createKeyword is called and never returns.

Thanks, but yes, I did knew this.   It's all working now.   When I first got your message my first reaction was to reply saying "that's not it—it's not nil"; but then I thought "I should check, it would be better if I could say I'd checked", and five minutes after that it was all cleared up.   A lesson.
Thanks again. I did download your debugger (and used parts of the package) but thought that for what I was doing just using a logfile, with tail -F, would be enough. I'm migrating from Aperture and iPhoto, and thought that at the same time I could try to orgaineze my keywords.   It's been frustrating but enjoyable.
And you said in the first message "given the nature of Lua".   After trying to use Applescript to work with Aperture, Lua is positively luminous.

Why am i getting error code 213:11 when launching Photoshop CS5?

Hi, I am installing Photoshop CS5 on a computer in school where I work. If I logon as a system administrator, I can launch Photoshop. However, if I logon as a student (we don't allow students access to the C: drive) I get the above error code & a message that reads 'A problem occurred with the licencing of this product.....'.
I have followed the suggestions on Adobe's website, but without success. Has anyone encountered & resolved this issue?

I am using Framemaker 9. The workflow is fairly simple:
I update my book
I try printing it and I get the error!
I have renamed the linguistics folder. FM creates a new linguistics folder but I still get the error. I have also changed the location of my FM book from D to C drive. One strange thing to note is that if I reboot my system and try to generate a PDF from this particular book, it generates it, but if I try to generate it again during this session (without rebooting) I start getting the error , until I reboot again. Also, this is only happening with one FM book of mine. The rest are working fine. There is nothing out of the ordinary that I do with this problem striken book.
I request an instant resolution.

I've tried in both ways, and it's exactly the same: I get the error.

Windows is regularly updated through Windows Update.

The document is based on some tables (it's a pricelist for our products), there are also some links to some .eps files (which are correctly displayed on screen, so the path is correct).

The file (or better the book made of about fifteen FM files) was created by someone else, on another PC. When I open it, I get the error. When I send my files to another person, he can create pdf files without any problem.

Yes, I regularly update Framemaker without any error.

Getting "Adobe Online Internal Error" in Adobe Framemaker

I'm getting "Adobe Online Internal Error" dialogue box popup when I open adobe framemaker 7.2 version.
This was working fine before reinstalling the adobe 8 professional.
In Framemaker popup is also coming under Help tab selecting any of the dropdown list like Support, Adobe online, updates, Registration
Can anyone please help me to get resolve this issue

I'm afraid that I can't help you with the internal error, but I noticed that you can't find the FrameLog files. My FM 9 installation often crashes when I quit FrameMaker, and I've searched the entire machine for them, to no avail. I'm quite sure that this is not due to an administrative issue because a week earlier I still had FM 8, and there were quite a few FrameLog files in the installation directory. Other Framers suggested to search for the files in the user profile (appdata\FrameMaker\9, application data\FrameMaker\9 or similar), and I found the directory, but not the log files.

I also experience this weird "An internal error has occurred" when quitting Acrobat 8.1.2 its there since the very minute i updated from 8.1... now i wish i could revert the update...
UPDATES ARE SUPOSED TO IMPROVE THINGS NOT BREAK THEM !!

this is what i did:
I have Acrobat 8.0.0 installed as a part of Creative Suite CS3 installation...
1- i ran the Creative Suite CS3 installer
2- i choose UNINSTAL Acrobat 8 only, leaving the rest of CS3 suite installed, its very important to UNINSTALL and not REINSTAL or REPAIR as REINSTALL or REPAIR doesnt help anything...
3- after UNINSTALLING Acrobat 8 i used DiskOrder (or any good file manager which can search inside hidden and system folders) and searched for the word "Acrobat"
4- i got about 70 results (mostly folders in Prefrences, Cache, etc.) i deleted manually everything related to Acrobat - that was pretty risky but i was lucky...
5- i ran Creative Suite CS3 installer which gave me a new option INSTAL ACROBAT 8.0
6- INSTALLED ACROBAT 8.0 and WITHOUT restarting i IMMEDIATELLY applied 8.1 and 8.1.2 updates
7- restart
DONE
NO MORE "An internal error has occurred" MESSAGE WHEN EXITING ACROBAT

Internal Error in Frame 9

Hi,
On several independent occasions I have been experiencing an internal error when using Framemaker 9. I have, as yet, not been able to detect any cause for this error. The error log that is supposedly created is not to be found and, as a result, has not been sent to Adobe. Probably, the latter is an organizational issue to be solved by my system administrator.
Error code received:
Internal Error 9004 5247548, 5814661, 5091061
Any ideas?
