FrameMaker Compatible with Mac in Future?

Is anyone aware if future versions of FrameMaker will ever be compatible with a Mac? I used to work on a Windows computer, and I really enjoyed using FrameMaker to create Install/User Manuals. I work on a Mac now, and I am just wondering if it will ever be available with a Mac.
Thanks!

Thank you for your response peter at knowhowpro. I know it is possible to run FrameMaker from Windows on a Mac, but specifically I was wondering if there are any plans to make future versions of FrameMaker compatible with a Mac. Your response is still quite helpful. I may have to switch to InDesign. Thank you!
You're welcome, Bonnie.
You're pointing out that I didn't REALLY answer your question, because I didn't say something like, "If there are plans, anybody who knows can't tell, as they'd be committed to a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and violating the agreement would cause the person to lose all participation in any Adobe NDA thereafter."
I answered obliquely by suggesting a Google search for past discussions on the issue, as there are many reasons for why Adobe probably wouldn't even consider the task, as well as suggestions of how easy, theoretically, it would be for Adobe to tweak a few things, and magically have FrameMaker for Mac.
Except for the cost of Windows (if using the free Apple BootCamp) or the additional cost of Parallels or Fusion, and perhaps adding RAM, FrameMaker in Windows on Mac is almost a perfect reproduction of FrameMaker in Windows on a PC.
I'm writing a book on InDesign for FrameMaker users. Try the Google search I suggested for views, experiences, and opinions from those who've thought about this move, as well as those who/ve taken the step across the line. If you do make the move, post your questions and discoveries on the InDesign user forum.

Yes. These days I prefer Brother printers. They appear to have engineered their printers with AirPrint as well as OS X compatibility from the start, unlike certain others who appear to have included it as an afterthought.
Brother's models are inexpensive, their ink is also inexpensive and lasts a long time, and their photo quality is at least as good as HP's. They have a two year warranty and lifetime free technical support with people who understand Apple.
Read the reviews (Amazon for instance, but be sure to read user reviews on the various manufacturer's websites as well) and decide for yourself.
If you require AirPrint compatibility, or if there is any possibility you may need it in the future, limit your search to printers that specifically indicate AirPrint compatibility.
Brother™ Monochrome Laser Printer and All-in-One models now support AirPrint.
Brother™ Color Inkjet All-in-One units now support AirPrint.
I have no affiliation with Brother but theirs was the first inkjet printer or "all-in-one" I have ever owned that simply works as well as the Macs I am accustomed to using. I positively detested every inkjet printer I ever had until I bought the Brother.

You need Snow Leopard at least.

  • External Hard Drive Compatible with Mac and Windows?

So my old laptop is a Dell Latitude and I bought a Western Digital external hard drive and put all my files/pics/music on it. The information the WD came with said its compatible with Mac and Windows, but when I plug it into my brand spankin new Macbook, it doesn't register with the computer and won't show up. What's going on?

I recently ran into that problem. In order to have the hard drive compatible for both PC and Mac it must be in a FAT32 format. In order to do this though all your files will be deleted (in order to reformat). You can do this by plugging in the hard drive into you mac and going under disk utility and there you will find your hard drive and under erase change the format to FAT32 and then you press erase (all will be deleted off the external drive though)

  • USB-to-VGA adapter compatible with Mac?

    Hi,
I'm trying to hook up an additional external monitor to my MacBook Pro using a USB-to-VGA adapter. I don't need any kind of graphics acceleration.
Here is the type of adapter I'm looking at:
    http://www.iogear.com/main.php?loc=product&Item=GUC2015V
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812203013
Apparently some have gotten the 2nd one to work on Linux with the sisusb driver. Does anybody know if this is compatible with Mac OS X?
    Thank you!
    MacBook Pro 15"   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB memory

Your Mac came with a DVI to VGA adapter. Why do you need a USB one, when the DVI one is faster and more reliable?
    Note the specs:

If yours was missing the adapter which is shown "In the box", call AppleCare to ask a replacement be sent.

  • Is the LG 22EN33S-B 22-inch LED 1920 x 1080 VGA Monitor compatible with mac via a vga to thunderbolt connection

Is the LG 22EN33S-B 22-inch LED 1920 x 1080 VGA Monitor compatible with mac via a vga to thunderbolt adapter?

The 1080p and 1080i options only appear on the HDMI display settings, the display settings for the thunderbolt to vga adaptor has 1920 x 1080.
Via the HDMI output of the Mini via an HDMI cable to a HDMI input on the Samsung the display fills the screen but the text looks vile.
The options for picture adjustement on the samsung include fill screen as you suggest
Using the thunderbolt to VGA adaptor the text looks as it should, crisp and clear but the display is shitfted to the right.
The options for picture adjustment on the Samsung does not have the 'fill screen' option available when the VGA input is selected. However a new option called 'pc screen adjustment' appears and you can nudge the display over to the left a bit but not enough to cover the whole screen.
I remind you the pc worked perfectly 1920 x 1080 on the same VGA cable and input to the samsung.

  • Looking for a smart card reader compatible with Mac OS X 10.5

    Hi there,
I am looking for a smart card (card with microCPU) reader which is compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 .
In substance, what I need is a little space to store all my passwords in, due to the fact that I might forget one: I have many to remember!
I have an USB key, but I use it in many computers, even in ones whose security cannot be 100% trusted.. and I want no doubt when talking about safety.
Here's an image of what I want in poor words:
    http://www.ordnas.it/prodotti/lett_mem/imgpr1592-01-3.jpg
The main issue is that most SC readers are /not/ Mac compatible.
So what brand should I opt for ? What costs should I expect ?
    Thank to everyone who'll help.
    Tyrexionibus

    Thank you for your answer.
This might be a solution, I'll take it seriously.
Can this other be a solution too ?
    http://www.athena-scs.com/product.asp?pid=1
On the manufacturer's page, it's stated that it's compatible with Mac OS X.
41 bucks + shipping + the price of a smart card..

  • Camcorder compatible with mac

I am going to buy a new camcorder and was wondering if anyone could recommend any that is compatible with macs. I was looking at the Sony handycam CXR105E. Any ideas anyone?

    Sorry, I posted too hastily!
As you are posting in the iMovie 6 forum I assume that is what you want to use to edit the video from the camera - it is not much 'compatibility with a Mac' that is the issue, it is more compatibility with the editing software you will be using.
As far as iMovie 6 is concerned it has to be a camera producing DV from tape and connected via firewire.
Post back if that didn't answer your question!

Can anyone tell me if Panasonic is compatible with Mac OSX 10.4.2? I'm trying to capture video to FCE with a Model PV-GS400, but my PowerMac G5 isn't recognizing the camera.

    Drivers should be unnecessary.
I've been using FCE and Panasonic gear for years and the combo does work.
Does your camera have a DV out setting (refer to the manual) that needs to be activated through the menu system?
Do you have any message in the FCE capture window?
