Frames Creating problems in Reports

Hi,
I Have created an Oracle Report in which there is one Group layout is there.
The Lauout is such that it Consists of 2 non-repeatating Frame(let say R_1, R_3) and a Repeatating Frame Say (R_2)
Now the Layout is
like
R_1 joined with R_2 joined with R_3
But when i am running this Report,Output is coming like
R_1Joined with R_3 joined with R_2.
R_2 contains one Formulae column which counts % of Total.
And i Have Kept all the totals in R_3

OK.
See my Report is giving data like This when I am running the report Manually by giving parameter Through parameter Form
Stores S1 S2 S3 S4 Totals
Received 12 14 111 210 347
Closed 11 09 12 199 231
Open 1 3 1 15 20
% of Total
Received 3.45 4.03 31.98 60.05
<<.From S1 to S4 is a Repeatating Frame full ..>>
and that Formulae columns ....i have
also included in repeatating Frame.....
This is Ok
but when I am Running Report from a Form,,,,,then it is Giving something like this
Stores Totals S2 S3 S4
Received 347 14 111 210
Closed 231 09 12 199
Open 20 3 1 15
% of Total
Received 3.45 4.03 31.98 60.05
Please help me out......I want the Data Like the Former Through the Forms Also.....

• Repeating frame spacing Problem in Reports 6i

I have a Matrix with Group report. Now I have two sections (one is matrix section, second is Grand totals section).
After I run the report layout ,Matrix section data (repeating frame) is appearing at one spacing but the other repeating frame in Grand Totals - appears in the same page (below the Matrix data section) with different spacing and aligning.
I’ve attached the output of the sample report. You can find the aligning/spacing problem between Matrix data (one repeating frame) and Grand Total data (another repeating frame)
This is the problem, I have tried changing all the properties, but all in vain. I feel that the repeating frame in Grand Totals appears exactly at the same position as the first one.
Please help...

Hi,
There are no such limitations with Reports. If I understand properly, you run the Report twice, in each run, you are trying to execute different query, and you generate two dilimited Reports output files? This should work fine. Try out the latest Reports 6i patch-10 for this. You can even approach Oracle Support with your testcase. FYI, with Reports 6i patch-11, a new feature "dlimited data" is introduced which will give delimited output with a data dump i.e it would not be dependent upon the Reports layout. You can probably try out this new feature also.
Thanks,
Rohit Hi Rohit,
Thanks for the information.
well I am generating single output file on each run .
the problem is somewhat funny.
I have build query2 in data model after query1.
query 1 is giving me correct output both in .PDF and delimiter version.
But query2 is giving me 0 byte file for delimiter version although in .PDF it is running fine.
When I took out query2 to another module it is running fine for both.
I hope this make sense.
Moreover if u still not clear about the problem and thinks that u can help me out please send me ur mail id so that I can send you the RDF copy.

• I've created a character report without user

I've created a character report without user parameters that works just fine.
The moment I've created a user parameter, without even putting it in a query, instead of
a report I've got the message: "REP-1219: 'repeating_frame_name' has no size - length or with is zero".
The same message I've got few times before:
1. When in the Layout Model -> Main Section Width and Height were not set correctly. Setting Width and Height to right numbers solved the problem
2. When 2 frames were overlapping. Turning off Snap to grid and moving the frames just a little from one another solved my problem.
What should I do this time ?

• Problem in reports 6i while using delimiter option.

Hi,
I am facing problem in report writer while using delimiter option.
Report summary
==============
In my report I am having two queries in data model and two different repeating frame for each in layout.
These quires are called based on the user parameter. That means if user parameter is 1 then query 1 is called and the report is kick off and same for query 2 when user parameter is 2).
Problem Encountered
=================
Both these reports are running fine while using pdf option to generate report .
While using delimiter option only one of the query is able to generate report (based on which ever is created first and rest will give 0 byte file).
I have also trapped it while using messages and it is logically flowing fine.
I think report writer does not support such scenario.
please expedite on this.

• Soritng problem in report

Hi all
I have a problem in report runtime decision.
I have created a report say report1....and on runtime i decide its runtime sorting order by passing a column value
through my USER PARAMETER to the ORDER BY clause.
But the problem is that the data model has its own BREAK ORDER as well for each column.
How can i change that property at runtime.
Kindl guide me if any one knows the solution.
Thanx,
Qaiser Qayum Malik.

Hi,
Pl see this thread:
Order By within repeating frame
By the way, break order decides the sorting order ONLY if the report has break-groups. If your report has a single group, the order by clause should work.

• Best ways to create rpd or reports if we have data in more fact tables

I have fact and dimensional data in one or more different tables. Then each logical table source represents one data segment. Please suggest me some methods or ways like fragmentation through which i can use them in creating rpd and report and main problem here is facts too large contains 25 million records. But adding tables in BMM layer effecting performance so can anyone other ways doing it in database side.
Thanks in advance
Edited by: user2989722 on Dec 3, 2009 3:09 PM

hi,
For the fragmentation you can create on dimension .The procedure is clearly explained in this blog
http://108obiee.blogspot.com/2009/01/fragmentation-in-obiee.html
http://www.rittmanmead.com/2007/06/19/obiee-data-modeling-tips-2-fragmentation/
For the performance point of view you can create a Materialized view (based on columns that your report is using) so that it will hit that particluar view instead of hitting whole table(25million records table) please look into this post

Hi Celia
1. Yes the Java Reporting Component (JRC) which is the runtime component of the Crystal Reports for Eclipse can open reports outside the project. Its often better to have the reports inside the project for deployment purposes but you are welcome to put the report where ever you need it.Â
Note: To use absolute paths, ensure that the CRConfig.xml file does not contain a reportlocation tag.
2. The JRC can't report off of Oracle directly, you would need to use a JDBC driver to connect your reports to Oracle. The crdb_oracle.dll will never connect because its not Java.Â
3. When the JRC finds that the report is not using a supported database driver it will do a lookup to find the name of the report datasource. When it finds the datasource name it will then do a JNDI lookup for a JDBC datasource with the same name. If your Application server doesn't have a datasource with that name it will through the error you were seeing.Â
4. I'm not sure about losing the Command object when changing the datasource but this is probably happening because the Command is linked to the database driver.
5. What you could try doing is creating a JDBC Datasource on your application server where this app will run with a JNDI name that matches your report datasource name. If your reports datasource name is "MyOracleDatasource" then I believe the JNDI name for new JDBC Datasource would have to be "jdbc/MyOracleDatasource".
You could give this a try.

• Creating a Calender report in iReport/Jasper

I've searched the forum and see several threads about creating a calendar report using jasper/iReport but no samples or hints or best way to accomplish it.
Does anyone have a sample or an idea for the best approach or point me in the right direction?

Hi,
There really isn't any problem with creating reports directly on production. It is often done since development and quality assurance environments often don't have the correct data to really test a query while creating it. It is however a good idea to allways have a copy on dev or qas in case you want to edit the query while it is already in use or just in case someone deletes it by mistake. We often create reports on production and, once finished, transport it to qas for this purpose.
Hope it helps.
Kind regards,
Alex

• Creating a crystal report using excel

I have an excel spreadsheet that I would like to access to create a crystal reports. But it seems that I have to first save it as an access or other database file. But this information changes frequently so I it would be more efficient to access the excel file directly. I tried using the crystal wizard addin in excel, but then when I run the report I get the error message "Server has not yet been opened". Any other ideas on how to create report of excel data directly?

Hello Guys ,
I have something similar problem ,but not exactly.
our requirement is We are scheduling one crystal report to generate excel and sent to FTP location. This Excel file (in FTP) should be the input of new Crystal Report using ODBC (RDO) connection.
I am able to create the ODBC connection, but that ODBC connection is not showing me the selected excel sheet in the Crystal Report ODBC Connection.I tried with Remote as well as local drive Excel also.
I tried on different machine (thought ,it could be Driver specific),but all machines does have same issue.
Is there any settings or driver upgrades require for CR XI R2 /2008 in order to use ODBC (RDO) for EXCEL FILES.I didnt find any comments /resolution in Google too.
My steps -
1) Create a sample Excel file - only few records
2) Created a System ODBC connection pointing this excel file say "TEST1"
3) Opened A Blank Crystal Report
4) Create a New connection
5) Select ODBC RDO
6) Create new connection and selected the newly created SYSTEM DSN "TEST1"
7) check the selected excel is displayed in ODBC RDO connection??
If it is a Crystal Report issue or ODBC Driver issue ,please let me know if anyone have came across similar issues.
thanks in advance.

• Object life in main method after frame created

hi
i'm having a slight problem with the life of an object i'm creating in the main method of my application.
i have a JDesktopPane that is initialised in the main class's main method and constructor. within the main method i also add the first internal frame to the desktop.
after the user completes the details of the first frame, another is called (from this first frame) and the first frame is disposed.
the problem is that although all subsequent internal frames added to the desktop outside the main class, they are garbage collected with no problems (i'm using a profiler), however the first frame and the frame created from that first frame are never collected due to the reference maintained in the main class. i've tried adding the creation of these frames outside the main class but given that these methods are called from main the reference is still maintained.
is there any way to create those first 2 frames without the reference being maintained in the main class such that they become elegible for garbage collection? do i have it all wrong perhaps and my approach is bad?? any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks heaps.
Takis

hi
thanks for your reply.
i tried that and it didn't work. the instance of that first internal frame is still there.
i really am at a loss with this one.
any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

• How to create a standard report that allows filtering?

Hi Guys and Gals,
Sometimes, the standard report is great because it gives the user the feeling of a grid. i.e. All of the values are editable on one page, kind of like a spreadsheet. That is sometimes very useful. But if there is a lot of data, a filtering mechanism is necessary.
So will one of you Apex gurus please tell me how to create a standard report that also allows data filtering?
Allowing the user to specify the number of rows displayed would be peachy-keen too.
Thanks,
Kim
P.S. I'm running Apex 4.1 with Oracle 11g.

Your idea sounds very promising, but I apparently need a nudge in the right direction. From "Create Page", I clicked on "Form" and then "Tabular Form". Why would you do this? The advice given was
create a standard report page using the Create New Page wizardi.e. go to Home > Application Builder > Application > Create Page and click Classic Report, this was suggested because the original post said:

>
Nothing about forms. Tabular Forms, Tabular Forms. Despite many enhancements over the last few versions, tabular forms still cause problems, especially for novices trying to go beyond their own competence and the built-in capabilities of wizard-generated tabular forms.
More good advice: Re: Newbie question-how does the tabular form work? How to populate prim key? and—if based on decent database design—out of the box you have a usable and robust application. Use an Interactive Report or a custom report template and add some CSS and you can get something a lot more powerful, flexible and better looking than any tabular form. Spend the time you haven't wasted on frustrated hacking of tabular forms adding more features and enhancements to your app.

• SSRS 2012: Report Header PrintOnFirstPage-problem after report migration from SSRS 2008

Hi ,
I developed my report using VS 2008 IDE and the report header property "PrintOnFirstPage" is set to False.
The content of the header are some textboxes and lines that should show only on page number > 1.
This works fine in VS 2008 IDE in preview mode as well as with reports rendered by SSRS 2008 report server.
Recently I migrate&convert the same report to SSRS 2012 I noticed a different rendering behaviour of my report.
So in VS 2010 preview mode, the page headers content (textboxe etc.) is not visible on first page but the headers space did not colapse as it does in VS 2008 IDE preview mode.
I checked all the report properties but unable to find a solution to my problem.
I was able to reprduce the same behaviour by creating a new report using VS2010 IDE.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated
Thanks
Bodo

Hi BodoHH,
I have tested on my local enviorment and can't reproduce the issue, the issue can be caused by many factors, it can be caused by the properties setting and can also caused by the visual studio, Detais information below for your reference:
As you mentioned that you have check all the report properties, please also check the tablix,Page Header, report body properties to see if the size are the same with that in the SSRS2008.
Please open this rdl report in the report builder to see if the print layout is correct, if it works fine, the issue can be caused by the visual studio.
Please also try to upload the rdl report to report manager to check the layout.
Please also provide the snaphot of the layout in VS2010 to let us better analysis about the issue.
If you still have any problem, please feel free to ask.

import went fine, but when I ran the IR page I got
ORA-20001: get_dbms_sql_cursor error ORA-00904: : invalid identifier
evidently the problem is a lack of public execute on DBMS_LOB, which is used in the generated IR source.
while waiting for the DBA to grant privs on DBMS_LOB, changing the dbms_lob.getlength call to length() fixes the IR.
however, i am not getting the download link on the associated form page... changed templates, that's not the issue -- we'll see if that's a dbms_lob issue as well
