Frames in iWeb?

I would like to have an iCal that I have published on .mac appear in my website that I have created with iWeb. Outside of iWeb I would have this done with frames but I'm not sure how I would do this with iWeb. Any help would be appreciated.

  • How do I change a Quicktime poster frame in iweb?

I have a quicktime movie on my iweb page that starts in black. I set a different poster frame in quicktime but it still displays as black until you play it in iweb and when it's published.
Is there a way to change this poster frame in iweb so that it doesn't display a black frame before you play it?
I guess I could edit one frame at the very beginning of the original movie but I would rather not have to do it that way.

  • Poster Frames in iWeb?

When I set poster frames in iweb or quick time pro or even compressor they do not appear in browser? May be a bug in iWeb. Or yet a long standing problem? Thank you for you help all.
    David

Having same problem. Use IWeb 08 Inspector to set poster frame, looks correct in IWeb, “publish all” to MobileMe and poster frame does not work. Purchased quicktime Pro to enable the set poster frame option, but $30.00 later still could not find a way to maintain IPod touch .m4v compatible format. Save would change to .mov format which Touch could not read. New to mac so may be a way to use QuickTime Pro to save .m4v format, but as work around used the following steps in IMovie HD v6 on Ibook:
    1) Slide to desired poster frame
    2) File/ Save Frame
    3) Drag frame to front of timeline
    4) Insert Fade In transition between picture frame and movie
    5) Drag picture down to 0.01 seconds (which now acts as poster frame)
Can’t load IMovie 08 so not sure if has same Save Frame option, but if not IMovie HD 6 can be downloaded for free if ILife 08 installed.

  • Creating Frames in iWeb

I creating websites on iWeb, my client has asked if I can create what is essentially a frame. I never have really worked with frames before, and was wondering if it is at all possible to create on in iWeb. I may not use it at all, but I would like to see what it might look like.
    Thanks in advance,

I creating websites on iWeb, my client has asked if I can create what is essentially a frame.
iweb does not have way to implement frame element.
but can be done with javascript and knowing frame element (without post editing), here is my sample:

there are two frames in my example.

  • Album frames don't display properly: Since .MAC converted to MobileME help?

ORIGINAL MESSAGE POSTED TO APPLE SUPPORT
Ever since .MAC was recently down - and converted to Mobile Me - I have been having problems with my iWEB site:
    1. Frames around Photo Albums no longer display (on mac or win web browsers)
    - On Windows Computers - The Frames do not Display at all
    - On Mac (Safari or Firefox) they all look like see thru WIRE frames
    2. iWEB text box frames (that were once hidden) now seem to Display and
they display in weir positions over and under other boxes.
    3. Safari Web Browser now ask to load certain fonts!
    4. Browsing my iWEB site is VERY VERY VERY SLOW!
    - From home
    - From work
    - over at friends
In other words the speed of a persons internet connection does not seem to
make any difference. It was all beautiful and fine before the transition, and now
    its slow.
I have not done an upload to .MAC from iWEB for several months - so I don't believe it is anything I have done.
My iWEB site is our FAMILY TREE site - so family members have been calling and telling me of the problems and the slowness over the past week.
PS: I like the extra 10GB of storage, and the new Mobile ME features seem cool --BUT I MUST GET our family iWEB site running smooth once again.
I have just recently upgraded to Leopard and for the most part everything is running fine - but as stated - I have NOT performed an iWEB upload using Leopard - the last was two months ago under Tiger.
    MacBookPro Intel Core Duo
    2.16GHz processor
    2GB RAM
    120GB Harddisk
Mac OS X 10.5.4 (Jaguar - just installed July 7)
    Second posting to Support
    Hello,
Ever since the transition - I'm still having the following problems with anyone trying to view my iWEB site (uploaded over 2 months ago before the Mobile ME transition).
(of note: I performed the MobileME system update yesterday and that did nothing)
    1. Website redraw is VERY SLOW
    2. Text Box FRAMES are now Visible - when they were not before!
    3. Viewing my WEBSITE that I built using iWEB - the FRAMES applied to Photo and Movie Albums do not display properly as they did prior to the Apple mobile Me conversion. (see attached screenshot).
As stated I have not done an iWEB upload for over two months - and everything was working fine until this Mobile me conversion. Now when viewing on Mac or Windows all of my Photo Album frames display improperly (they look like see through wireframes) when viewing in Safari or MS Explorer. NOTE: The albums will NOT display at all using FIREFOX.

Since I recieved no responses I assume no one knows. Thanks anyway.

  • Third party html editor-allow google analytics to work on iWeb

I want people to find me via google search, so need to get inside frame of iWeb. Apple tech told me there is no access to the iWeb source file. Is there a third party html editor that I can use in front of iWeb? With apologies for an unsophisticated question.

    Matti-
First time in discussion and this is most helpful. (how do I cut the answer the way you did my question and then respond? Trying to do it inelegantly below.)
First, click the quote mark above the little box you're typing in ^. That makes the full text of the person you're responding to appear at the top of your response. Then, to cut it up, you just put your cursor where you want to respond and push return to start a new paragraph. Basically, anything with an ">" sign on the left gets put in the quote box. Your response, without the ">" sign, is regular text. You can Preview to see how it looks before you post.
Matti: Include the text content in your iWeb site itself. Google can search that. No need for editing html just for that. For example, add the names of the authors and their books next to the m4a's.
ww: I do put the name of the interview next to the embedded picture of the author, but I thought Google could not crawl within a "frame" (just learned this limitation).
This is where someone else might have better advice, but as far I know, iWeb doesn't create "frames." It creates basic pages that can be catalogued by a search engine. Unless there's something about the template you're using that's creating frames within pages that are hard to search - not sure if that's the case - but perhaps that's what you're referring to.
In summary, I think iWeb is too templated to allow google viewing and I will need to ftp my site to an outside third party.
Reading your description of what you're trying to do, it does sound like it would work better on a 3rd party host. For lack of a better word, sites with "heft" do better on a 3rd party host.
Also, I've found that as much as you can keep things simple in iWeb, the better they are overall, the more universally compatible with other browsers like IE and - in my opinion - the better they look.
I stay away from ginned up themes and, using basic pages as a starting point, have made a few iWeb sites that are quickly found and catalogued by the search engines, and are universally compatible with all browsers.
    Is TextWrangler akin to WordPress?
No. TextWrangler is a document editor (like Microsoft word) that is optimized for opening up and editing html files.
After you publish to a folder but before you FTP up to your host, opening up the html files iWeb generated using TextWrangler allows you to tweak the html code. There are some programs that will automatically "optimize" the pages for you as well. If you prefer to access the html and edit them yourself, TextWrangler works well and is free. For example, if there is an image of an author, there is an associated (blank by default) "alt" field that you could fill in with the author's name. This helps a search engine understand what the image is.

  • Wich frame to show on a video on website

    Hi
I have a couple of movies on my website. So far all are made with iMovie.
No i created one using Final Cut and Compressor.
For this one i choose a frame to show before the video starts
In iWeb it is all right.
But when published its just a black background.
    Any ideas?

There seems to be a bug in IWeb regarding this. If you set the poster frame in IWeb by selecting the video and then going into the inspector to select the Quicktime link, you can use the slider to select the poster frame. Once you close IWeb, the poster frame reverts back to the first frame of the video which is black in your case. If you set the poster frame where you want it and then publish to a folder, the poster frame should be set in the HTML. When you upload your site, all should be fine. However, next time you upload that page, you have to reset the poster fram again.

  • How do you mark your 'in' point with the keyboard?

I know you can mark the first frame of your selection by hitting the mouse button but I find I press the spacebar to start previewing the source footage and stop the playhead at just the right point where my 'in' should be. Now as soon as I move the mouse the playhead jumps to a different part of the clip, this results in me losing my 'in' point.
What I want to do is hit the spacebar to stop at just the right point, hit a key to mark my selection, hit spacebar to resume playing and then finally hit shift-A to mark my out. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Dave

Could you describe your workflow in producing Quicknotes.
Basically I use a screen/system audio capture application to capture what I am doing in an application along with any audio being produced. There are many such applications available, but I tend to stick with Snapz Pro X which I have been using for years. My somewhat old PPC G5 limits me to captures of about 960x540 at 24 fps. This step, of course takes place in "real time." With iMovie '08, I would had to transcode the captured data to compatible compression formats, but with iMovie '09 it looks like I can go back to using the default Animation video codec which I prefer.
Once the screen captured data is stored to a file, I bring it into iMovie for a quick edit -- usually just a quick trimming of the length, adding a title, and adding simple opening/closing cross-fades. When done, I output the edited content via the "Export Using QuickTime" option -- normally as AIC/AIFF but will likely try Animation/AIFF on my next one. The editing process takes only a few minutes but exporting adds additional time.
At this point I import the edited file to GarageBand for a quick voiceover. I use this approach so I can keep a copy of the iMovie exported file for reuse at some later time. (My original intention was to eventually go back and correct my voiceover mistakes but I never seem to get around to doing this as some new project is always coming up.) For this step I generally use a Blu "Snowball" USB mic. In any case, the voiceover is also in real time. I normally export the finished file using the "Full Quality" mode so as to avoid a further transcoding of the video track. (It also saves time if no video re-compression has to be performed.)
At this point it is merely a matter of targeting my final output. For my web content, I usually use MPEG Streamclip to convert the GarageBand file to an H.264/AAC file with a targeted video data rate of 1.0 Mbps. If I decide to post the file in an MOV file container, I then open the file in QT Pro and set the "poster frame" for iWeb use. If for any reason I wish to preserve the MP4 container, I use iTunes to "poster frame" the file.
As previously implied, I use iWeb to actually post the file. In this case, the tutorials are posted to a separate "Podcast" page collection since the are easy to maintain; allow user comments, RSS notifications (which I've never tested), and searches (also untested). Primarily I liked the ease with which I can duplicate a previously posted video entry and simply drop in the new clip and modify the text changes. Posting the update is, of course, as simple as pressing an icon button and waiting got the upload to finish.
I have completed the work flow in as little as an hour but my average is closer to 90-120 minutes since my wife and/or pets usually want some sort of attention during the process. You may have noted Gracie (a Congo African Grey) or Mango (an Amazon Orange Wing) in the background of some of my voiceovers. And that, as they say, is all there is...
You should really consider posting these on YouTube.
Not really something I ever wanted to do. I have my own MobileMe account, most viewers I'd want to reach are Mac owners and users, so I am not really interested in reaching out to the "world at large."

  • Can't get movies not to Autoplay

I have created a page with a load of Quicktime movies with poster frames using iWeb, but they all start loading immediately in Safari. I have checked the "autoplay" flags in the js file and they are set to false. What's going on?
    Many thanks
    iWeb 3.0.3 / Safari 5.0.4 / MacOS 10.6.6

Auto-play and loading are not the same.
    QuickTime movies always load.
But you have to check Auto-play to play them while loading.
The info on the linked page is 100% nonsense and a waste of time too.
    Update :
Here's a page made with the Save for Web/Export for Web with QT 7/QT X :
         http://www.wyodor.net/Tutorials/FloatingObjects/
QT 7 and QT X have different ways of doing it, but the output is the same.
The movie doesn't load and only loads and plays when you click the button in the center.
Follow the instructions in the ReadMe.html when you have exported to Web with QuickTime.
Then use the sample page of the link above to paste the code provided in the ReadMe file QT create. Replacing the code in my page.
Use the <iframe> HTML element to display the movie in a iWeb page with the HTML Snippet.
Here's a page that explains how to do it .
         http://www.wyodor.net/iWebBlogTest/Wyodor_1/archives/2009/05/entry_35.html
It works with all kind of movies of all flavours.
    You may have to practice.

  • Can I have music play on my site through all the pages?

I figured out how to add a song to a specific page but I would like to know if there is a way to have a series of songs start playing when someone enters my site and keep playing as they navigate through the pictures, pages, etc.
I just got a MacBook last week (first Mac in over 15 years) and am loving it! Help me out here people
    Sergei-

This would require frames, which iWeb doesn't handle. Basically, you'd put the audio in one frame (with a little control to change it) and all of the rest of your site in another Frame.
If you re-coded your index.html page to point to a file that would set up the frames for you, that might work, but you'd have to redo it every time you uploaded your pages.

  • Major publishing problems!!! Buy stock in Kleenex!

I searched and couldn't find-- sorry if it's already here somewhere. Been struggling for HOURS to publish our iWeb website (for 1st time) for all to see. Am ready to bawl. I thought t his was supposed to be easier than FrontPage.....
Ok, I used Filezilla and only bits and pieces get uploaded-- missing the links as well as some of the frames. On the pages that DID load, the links are still missing and the top picture and text are overlapped ( I pulled the links box over to the side - didn't like it at the top. I tried having it back at the top & republished and they still don't show up) OFTEN get a "Application Quit Unexpectedly" message which knocks me off Filezilla completely so I have to reopen. Our index page has nothing now but background color (we used Layered Paper) with text. SOOO I am trying Cyberduck-- can't figure out what to put in the blanks and our hosting service folks didn't know either. Was on the phone with them multiple times today for long periods and they can't help me-- they say "maybe it's your code". Well, I didn't do anything with iWeb's code since I can't even access it (I'd like to add metatags that worked great with our FrontPage site... another sad story).
Anyway, we've only had this Apple computer since November. All I am trying to do is put our website back on (we've been using Uplinkearth hosting). Now, it's all messed up and I am panicking! Can anyone help??
    Thank you.

I think my problem may be related to the fact that we are using a wireless internet card and it keeps quitting when I try to upload. I can sometimes get it to upload but it's been one file at a time (sometimes on a 4 kb file). I haven't gotten the whole site uploaded yet... and the few pages that are partially uploaded are missing (links and frames missing). A fellow using a windows program looked at one page that is partly up (http://www.tallgrasskennels.com/Breeding.html) and said it had some light bluish backgrounds behind some of the titles, etc. I'm hoping that once we get it all uploaded, things will be where and how they should be. Can windows people see the frames from iWeb? Anyway, I am SLOWLY trying to upload via Cyberduck to our hosting service. I think I'll start a new thread regarding wireless cards and uploading, but I wanted answer this thread.
    Thank you.

I would like to create a frame within one of my iweb pages so that I can maintain the navigation menu while incorporating expose photo slide (or any other external page to be displayed within my page).

Does anyone know if there are any templates out there I could just copy and past to get this done? i am simply looking to create a frame pretty much taking up the entire center of the existing page while leaving the navigation menu in tacked. Do appreciate the help!

I've "set poster frames" in the Quicktime movies that I am importing into iWeb. They appear properly in my working iWeb file but the poster frame I've set doesn't remain after the site is published. The Quicktime poster frame goes back to black. Anyway to fix this?

  • Can I change the frame/picture that is shown for a movie put into iWeb?

I have a transitions (fading in from black) in a movie that I brought into an iWeb page. The picture on the iWeb page is completely black, since that is the first frame of the movie. Is there a way to change this so I can select another frame to be the one that shows up on the web page for the movie (so I can choose one with people, for example, instead of it just being a black box)? Thanks-

Select the movie by clicking once upon it and, in iWeb Inspector's QuickTime pane, try adjusting the +Poster Frame+ slider.
