Frames to avi

how can i convert frames into to avi file....meaning that i first converted avi into frames .....now i need to to convert these frames again into avi .........

Hi Everyone,
I can think of several reasons why you would like to do this.  It should not be difficult to accomplish really.  The functions that you need in order manipulate AVI’s are installed with IMAQ not the Vision Development Module.  I would suggest taking a look at this knowledgebase that discusses what functions are installed with IMAQ.  Which VI's are Installed with NI-IMAQ?     So if you have IMAQ installed you should have support for it.  I would suggest taking a look at some of the examples that ship with IMAQ.  Specifically the Sequence and Save to AVI.vi and Read AVI Example.vi.  I think with a little work you should be able combine these two VI’s to do what you would like to do.

  • Reading frames in avi files

    When reading large AVI files, I get an error when trying to read frame 870 or higher:
    Error -1074395967 occurred at IMAQ AVI2 Read Frame
    Possible reason(s):
    IMAQ Vision: (Hex 0xBFF604C1) Error reading AVI frame
    Is this a limitation of the system? I have the problem even when using the AVI read example.

    I have to disagree. I do not use old functions. The test program is very simple (see the picture). But video contains over 60,000 images (640x480, 8-bit grayscale, no compression). This example hangs on image 3474.

  • Problems with large frame uncompressed AVI files in QT 7 player

    I have just recently gone from QT Pro 6.5.2 to QT Pro 7, mainly because of the HD support.
    I have a dual boot system with QT 7 on Windows 2000, and QT 6 on Windows 98SE.
    I am having problems playing uncompressed AVI files in the QT 7 player, apparently if the frame size is large (in the example case 688 x 516).
    Sometimes I just get "error 108 unknown error" pop up when I try to load the file. Sometimes the file loads but will not play except in short bursts of movement every now and again as it moves along the timeline. Sometimes the file plays, but with one or more broad black lines across the image!
    All the problem files play perfectly in QT 6.5.2, but will not play in QT 7, which should surely play them better, not worse!
    Can anyone make any suggestion as to what's happening?
    I've uninstalled and reinstalled QT 7, which made no difference. I'm sure I don't need any extra codecs, as QT has always played RAW AVIs without anything extra before.
    Thanks in anticipation, Dave.

  • Conversion of frames to AVI

    Hi,
    I'm using the last version of JMF and I can generate an AVI file from a list of JPEG images. The problem is that the file is too big!!
    A generated sequence with Quicktime gets 400KB versus the AVI one that has 10MB!
    The problem is that I don't know how define a codec in order to compress images for the AVI format.
    I've seen on the forums and it seems that I should use the setCodecChain method of the TrackControl, but I don't find the clue.
    Please, does any one knows how to do that?
    Thank you.

    Hi there Schumi-z!
    Well, it seems many poeple have the very same problem. Let me explain what I have got and what I look for.
    I am working on a simple video editor. This program is to take a video as input, read the video and "chop" it automatically. Taken certain frames to different new videos, from one to 10 or more, according to certain parameters of the frame analized.
    What I have got until today is a way of opening the video, reading it frame by frame, extracting a frame, analize it. But I'm yet to develop a way to write new videos taking a group of this previously separated frames.
    I would like to know, if you are trying to solve the same or similar problem which in any time it envolves writing a new video file, so we can work together and solve this problem as soon as possible.
    This work is also a part of my research to complete my thesis work. It would be an honor to have a quote mentioning someone from around the world.
    Well, I hope to hear from you soon.
    Have a nice day

  • Fehlende Frames in avi.Datei

    MfG OnkelRoland

    Ähm, Webcam? Hintergrund?

  • Drop frame rate when start saving avi file with GigE basler camera

    Hello all,
    I use 2 Ace basler GigE cameras at 60 fps to capture animal locomotion. I experience randomly this kind of problem. When I start to record by a start/stop button and save the videos in the hard-disk sometime the frame rate drop to 20-14 fps and a skip 2 or 3 frame. After that the frame rate became stable to 60 fps.
    These are the overall settings and spec of the program:
    - I use a producer/consumer loop (I never experienced a filling of the queue even when the drop frame rate occur)
    - I fixed the bandwidth of the Intel 100 GigE card to 500 for each camera
    - size of packet sent = 8000
    - firewall disabled
    - vi execution in highest mode
    I observed that the dropping of the frame rate occur when the vi run for a while without interaction with the operator (the operator set others parameters in another computer, so the vi only acquire the videos without saving them)
    I have attached the vi
    Thank you for your help

    GRAB 2 CAM SAVE AVI TTL SEND C-P LOOP 0.1.vi ‏151 KB

    Alex,
    Does this drop in frame rate occur with both cameras or does it only occur with the "left" or "right" camera acquisition loops.  I think what is happening is that your producer loop is overwriting the images before they get written to the AVI.  In addition there may be some memory conflicts as queues are generally not recommended for IMAQ Images.  Here is an explanation stating that instead of enqueuing an Image Object you are actually enqueuing a memory location to an image.   This means that when you produce a new image it is writing to the same memory location you are trying to read from when you write the frame to AVI.  This forum offers a possible workaround.

  • "IMAQ AVI Create" not found under menuitem "AVI" (IMAQ 2.6)

    Does anyone know why the Libs. "IMAQ AVI Create ,IMAQ AVI Open ,IMAQ AVI Read Frame ,IMAQ AVI Get Filter Names" are not located in the "AVI" menu ? (IMAQ 2.6)
    Thanks Mario

    The AVI VIs should be located there, if they are not there was probably a problem with your installation. Launch the installer again by going to Add/Remove Programs and selecting National Instruments Software. From there another menu will open showing most of your NI software. Select on NI-IMAQ 2.6 and select modify. Double check that support for your version of LabVIEW is selected, and proceed with the rest of the install. If you are still having problems, I suggest calling going to www.ni.com/support and getting a hold of NI Tech support.

  • Thumbnails of AVI movies in Finder

    What can I do to get the first frame of AVI movies displayed as thumbnails?
    (instead of these unpredictable thumbnails)
    I hope there is an easy way because I have lots of clips...
    Thanks!!

    coxorange wrote:
    Thanks. I only use QT and I don't want to get and install other players.
    (I try to install as little software as possible!)
    Is there another way to change the thumbnail to the first frame?
    I have several movies that are associated with QT as the default and they show a first-frame icon.
    One is an mp4, another is a wmv, another an m4v, and yet another is an avi. All have first-frame icons are are asscociated with QT, so I don't understand the problem you are having.
    When you right-click your avi file, and select "Open With" is QT listed as the default?
    If not, then do what I originally wrote, selecting Other and then selecting QT and checking "Always open with" and see what happens. If "Always open with" is not checked then the icon may not associate properly with the app.
    Again, all my QT movies have the first-frame icon.
    What icon do yours have?

  • Quicktime exporting AVI files

    At Videography Lab we are testing the Pentax Optio W30 and W60 cameras. Both are waterproof but the W60 has a wider lens which we prefer. Unfortunately in upgrading their camera, Pentax moved from a native Quicktime movie to an AVI.
    We had gotten quite happy with Quicktime Pros quick edit trimming capability. So we started opening the AVI files with Quicktime Pro and trimming. Than when we were finished we Save As . . . and only get the Quciktime Movie format.
    We would like to save them as AVI files. One reason is that Windows XP gives a key frame for AVI movies but only a Q logo for Quicktime movies.
    So is there a way to open the AVI in Quicktime Pro > trim > Save as AVI file?

    is there a way to open the AVI in Quicktime Pro > trim > Save as AVI file?
    What KIND of AVI file. AVI is just a wrapper. Many of the newer cameras use some form of mpg-4 codec in the AVI files. Open the file in the Quicktime player and do a "Window>Show Movie Properties". What video and audio CODEC are shown?
    BTW, I use VisualHub to work with my problem AVI files on the Mac side.

  • Sound problems with an .avi file?

    Hello all,
    I am working on a presentation where there is a background
    loop .wav and some .avi files. When the .avi files have audio I am
    dropping the volume of the loop. I made the loop a new sound with
    the code below and set up a global so that I could properly target
    the sound. The code is below.
    // set up the global so that bgMusic can be targeted from
    other scenes
    _global.musicTimeLine = this;
    // make a new Sound called bgMusic
    // loopwav is the linked name of the .wav file
    bgMusic = new Sound();
    bgMusic.attachSound("loopwav");
    bgMusic.start();
    trace(bgMusic.getVolume());
    I then drop the volume on the frames with .avi movies with
    audio with:
    // drop the volume of bgMusic
    musicTimeLine.bgMusic.setVolume(20);
    Does anyone know why this is also affecting the audio in the
    .avi file? Thanks to anyone who can help!
    EW

    It may be because new Sound() is a global sound controller.
    Meaning that it will affect any and all sounds within your movie.
    Try associating the Sound with a movieclip. For example,
    bgMusic = new Sound(this);
    Then changing properties of the bgMusic sound object should
    only affect the sounds in that movieclip and not globally.
    Also, not sure if this is true for FLV and MP3 files brought
    in using the FLV component.

  • Detect Packed Bitstream in AVI files

    Thanks for replying.  I'm running labview 2009 on a dual core pentium 2.3 GHz with 4 Gigs of ram.  It typically has 2 Gigs free while running the program.
    I'm not tryingt write an AVI, I'm trying to read an AVI.  The frames are 352 x 240 in size.  I've tried several read AVI examples and they all act the same way.  They slow down quickly and the hard drive and CPU are really cranking away.

  • Can PE9 import files as frames?

    Hi
    I'm wondering if it is possible to import files as frames as you do with VDub.
    I do a lot of animation and I use VDub to convert the frames into avi files.
    It would be nice it I could do this directly into PE and cut out a step.
    I did some research but I couldn't fine anything that discussed this.
    Mike

    I'll give it a try though I usually work a lot bigger then that, at least 1600 by 900 and most of the time 1920 by 1080.
    I can probable go smaller my last animated title only lasted 12 seconds and was just under 1 Gig for the file size.
    I ordered PE10 and it will be here in two days so I'll wait until I have it installed before I get into this.
    I started doing the animated films a year ago and now that I have new software to do the animating which lets me produce better output I'm doing them over.
    I'm finishing up the first one today.
    Then I'm going to work my way through the 7 I have done before I do any new ones.
    I've learned a lot in a year so they have improved since I did the first one.
    Thanks again for the help

  • Best practice for smooth workflow in PrE?

    Hi all.  I'm an FCP user for many many years, but I'm helping an artist friend of mine with a Kickstarter video...and he's insistent that he's going to do it himself on his Dell laptop running Win7 and PrE (I believe v11, from the CS3 package)...so I'm turning to the forum here for some help.
    In Apple Land (that is, those of us still using FCP 7), we take all our elements in whatever format they're delivered to us and transcode them to ProRes, DVCPro HD or XDCAM...it just makes it easier not to deal with mixed formats on the timeline (please, no snarky comments about that, OK, I turn out broadcast work every week doing this so this method's got something going for it...).  However, when I fired up PrE I see that you can edit in all sorts of formats, including long-GOP formats like .mts and mp4 files that I wouldn't dream of working with natively in FCP...I don't enjoy staring at spinning beachballs that much.
    Now, remembering that he's working with a severely underpowered laptop, with 2 gig of RAM, and a USB2 connection to his 7200 rpm "video" drive...and also considering that most of the video he'll be using will come in two flavors (AVHCD from a Canon Vixia 100, and HDV from a Canon EX-something or other), what would be the best way to proceed to maximize the ease at which he can edit?  I'm thinking that transcoding to something like Motion-JPEG or some other inter-frame compressed AVI format would be the way to go...it's a short video and he won't have that much material so file size inflation isn't an issue...speed and ease of processing the video files on the timeline (or do they call it a "Sceneline") is.
    Any advice (besides "buy another computer") would be appreciated...

    Steve, thanks, this is helping me now.
    I mention MJPEG because, as an Interframe compression method, it's less processor-intensive than GOP style MPEG compressions.  Again, my point of reference is the Mac/FCP7 world (so open my eyes as to how an Intel processor running Win7 would work differently), but over there best practice says NOT to edit in a GOP-base codec (XDCAM being the exception which proves the rule, eg, render times), but to transcode everything from, say, h264 or AVCwhatever into ProRes.  YES, I know PrE (and PPRO) doesn't use ProRes...not asking that.  But, at least at this juncture, any sort of a hardware upgrade is out of the question...this is what he's gonna be using to edit.  Now if I was going to be using an underpowered Mac laptop to try and edit, I most certainly would not try to push native AVCHD .mts files or native h264 files through it...those don't even work well with the biggest MacPro towers.  What is it about PrE that allows it to efficiently work with these processor-intensive formats?  This is the crux of the issue, as I'm going to advise my friend to "work this way" and I don't want to send him down the garden path of render hell...
    And finally, your advice to run tests is well-given...since I have no experience with PrE and his computer, I guess that's where we'll start...

  • Pause and restart while loop after defined time

    Hello,
    What I need is to find a way to run a while loop that is acquiring and analysing a movie, to pause this while loop for a time I specify, and re-run it after that time has passed.
    I'm attaching a picture of the relevant parts of my VI. In the case structure of the "true" or "false", the program is checking, online, if the eye (my camera is focusing on the eye) is open above some threshold and for a certain duration of time. When "condition to start" is met, two things happen: one, the case structure changes to "false" and waits for some time; second, the loop of my state machine is triggered. Problem is, because I'm not really pausing my while loop (it's still running even when it's the "false" case), my state machine runs really slowly - for example, I have a part of video acquisition in my state machine, and saving the frames to avi takes forever.
    Does anyone have any idea of how I could stop the while loop for x time?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    I'm attaching (hopefully) better pics, if you still can't see let me know and I'll attach the code. About the frame saving and acquistion, I'm already doing that in a separate loop - you can't see my entire code in the pics, but what I have is a state machine that works as a producer loop and then a consumer loop, where video acquisition is happening. Now I'm working on a third loop (the one in the picture), that starts before the others and where I don't even want to save the movies - I just want it to check, online, if the condition is met (e g, the eye is open for a specified time) and if so, start the state machine and stop running, until the state machine has finished running. Then do the same, after waiting a specified time. I know that the problem is that the while loop keeps running after triggering the state machine, because if I remove that part and trigger it manually, the VI runs just fine and really fast. So how can I run, stop and restart the while loop?
