Framework Settings for map in Endeca studio for getting started application

Hi All,
Can anybody tell me,what is the default framework setting for below fields when we installed endeca studio to make getting started application work especially map settings,

df.mapViewer: ???
Due to change in configuration i cannot see the map in getting started application please help to solve the above problem.
I m getting below error
MapView service is not available, please contact your system administrator.

ADVICE FOR GETTING STARTED IN RECORDING

I have just purchased a new IMAC 24 inch 2.4 core duo with 4 gigs of ram. I was wondering what a good setup would be in getting started in home recording, would a good audio interface such as the presonus firestudio, with garageband be good, or something like presonus firestudio, with logic studio, be better, or maybe apogee ensemble, with logic studio? We will be doing some song writing, and recording a band. Any help would be appreciated. Like I said totally new to this.

The thing about GarageBand is that there's virtually no learning curve. It uses the same sound engine as Logic, but with a distilled interface that boils everything down to basics. Logic has a bigger learning curve because it lets you control a million more things, but if you are motivated to learn it, that shouldn't be a problem. As far as interfaces go, as a practical matter, I think you would need to figure out if you're all you going to play and record together as a band, and if you have enough inputs for that. If you weren't going to use a separate mixer, the interface would need enough inputs to accommodate all the cables that were carrying signals from you instruments and voice(s).
The NRV-10 is very flexible for rehearsing + recording, although you would get better sound quality from either the Ensemble or FireFace. I would guess the Firestudio hovers around the NRV-10 in terms of sound quality. The truth however is that any of this stuff will likely sound good enough especially as you are just getting started. While it's easy for pros to wax poetic over master clocks and vintage pres, the fundamental technology has advanced to the point that any of these interfaces in the Firestudio range on up is going to enable anyone just starting out to get terrific results. And after you have some experience, and find that you have a specific need or want to lift the audio quality of a particular component, then there's a world of gear out there clamoring for your Benjamins .
So if it were me, I'd want to make sure that whatever I was getting was compatible with my system, could accommodate my inputs, and had sound quality that was good enough for my immediate goals. Also, as you are just starting out, I can almost guarantee you that you will need things that you don't yet realize you need. So whatever your budget is you should leave a little wiggle room for unanticipated expenses.

What's a good book for getting started?

I've been doing web design in HTML and ColdFusion for almost 3 years. It's clear that ColdFusion is on it's way out and I need to learn J2EE/Java/JSP etc. I have a few questions:
Java is a term I've heard associated with C++ and other types of programming as well as Web design. Are the Java/C++ Java and the Web Java basically the same type of language? Is the Web Java and JavaScript the same thing? I'm very confused!
What is a good book for getting these types of questions answered and getting started in J2EE/Java/JSP? There are quite a few variations of script languages out there and I want to make sure I learn the right stuff, ie the stuff that employers are going to be needing.

Print it off or read from the screen. Otherwise, there are several good Java books out there. What I would do is go to the bookstore and thumb through a few books. Depending on what type of book you want (example based or theory) find the books that you think would satisfy your learning style. Write down the names and authors, go home and buy them used online at Amazon for tremendous discounts. This way you can buy several versus just one.

Resources or Book for getting started

I'm trying to get to grips with Extension Builder. I have fairly simple needs - however they go beyond the ability of Configurator. I'm comfortable with jsx scripting and configurator, and develop in Delphi - so I'm not a total beginner - although with action script / Extension Builder I am.
I'm struggling to find the correct resources to get me started as it's not clear to me exactly what I need to learn. Should I be looking for a Flashbuilder application guide - or shoudl I be looking for some other book?
To provide a little more context - I want to create is a menu that's populated when photoshop starts with text from a file. Looks like the pop-up menu in a panel is the component to do this - but I need to learn how to read the file and populate the menu and assign actions. The menu items should then call a jsx code (or other method of shelling out if required) with a parameter. So if the text file contains:
'Text Item 1',1
'Text Item 2',2
'Text Item 3',5
Then I want three menu items labelled 'Text Item 1', 'Text Item 2' and 'Text Item 3' where selecting the menu items calls a jsx with parameters 1,2 and 5 respectively. I've happily done this in Bridge using a jsx script - but doing this in photoshop seems a different kettle of fish...
So - are there any recommenations for dummies guides to help me through this?

I would second Al's suggestions to try one of Tom Wolsky's books and also take a look at the FCE forum.
Regarding not using the full power of FCE, I don't think anyone does.
It's like climbing one of those mountains where you seem to be reaching the summit only to discover, when you get there, that there is yet another peak ahead !

Endeca 3.0 - Getting Started Data

I am new Endeca user and have just finishing downlloading the Endeca Information Discovery 3.0.
I was going through the Getting started videos on Youtube and realized I do not have the getting started as a community Application. Can anyone please let me know how I can obtain that data so that I can learn with the tutorial??

You download the materials for the sample application from the same eDelivery page where you downloaded the installation files for Studio.
In the list of downloads for Studio, there is an item labeled Oracle Endeca Information Discovery Sample Application (3.0). This is a .zip file containing the Integrator pipeline (for ingesting the sample application data) and Studio .lar file (for importing the sample application pages).
See Downloading the Getting Started package in the 3.0 Getting Started Guide.

Change settings for auto start when logging on?

How can I change the settings so that when I turn my Macbook Air on it doesent auto open iTunes, Email, ooVoo, and facebook?

Have you tried to run gpresult and check what GPOs are successfully applied in the new profiles?
For IE ESC, if you enable this setting, it will automatically change the Internet Explorer Security Zone settings, such as Internet Zone, the security level is set to high, etc. To eliminate the cause, I suggest you turn off it as a test.

What format in expert settings for fast start on the web?

I exported a slide show to QT from iPhoto. Unlike imovie that gives you the possibility to use expert settings to export a fast start, iPhoto doe not have the option to export to expert settings.
I want my QT slide show to begin to play as it uploads on the .mac web page. By accident, (I don't know what I did) one of my video has a fast start on my web pages, it starts playing before it has finished uploading. On the other hand, most of my other videos or QT slide show, have to fully upload, which can take 5-10 minutes, before the viewer can see it playing.
Also, If I open my QT slide show exported from iPhoto in the size of 7.1MB, and re-export it using QT pro expert settings using Fast start, the file become 91MB big...... way too big to post on the .mac account!
What is the difference between hinted, streaming, fast start, and compressed header? I'm getting a little confused with the choices!!!

Some iPhoto slide shows (those that use only the fade effect) do not fast start. They are made up of three video tracks slightly offset in time and a tween track that sets the fade.
You could open them in QT Pro and use the save as menu. No re-compression but the file size will become three times larger because each of the video tracks will become independent (for lack of a better word). This new file will fast start.
Exporting isn't a good choice unless you use identical settings to the original (Photo-JPEG video codec and an extremely low frame rate).
The file size of the original is "trick" that can only be performed by iPhoto.

Basic Questions for Getting Started

I want to make a DVD with a menu that will link to video files that will not be compressed at DVD SD size 720 x 480 (I think that is the right size for DVD?) Instead, I need to make the window size of the videos smaller so I can fit as many as possible on a single-layer disc.
1. Will there be any issues with linking to video files that are not full screen, whether it is played in a computer DVD or a home one?
2. What is the best format for bringing video in from FCP for doing this? I am guessing that since DVD SP compresses as MPG-2, I should bring the video in a non-compressed format so it does not get double compressed.
3. Does anyone have any recommendations for a smaller window size that displays well on screen? 400 by something???

I can only suggest that you try it and see, or ask on the Final Cut Pro discussion forum and someone there will know.

Yes. You should bring it into DVD SP as a QT file (.mov) which you export from Final Cut, presumably using the option "using QT Compression" which I think gives options for size. However, I have never had luck when using the QT compression option. There may be other utilities which can reduce the size of a QT movie.
I suppose that you know to use Compressor to make a more efficient compression than the one built in to DVD SP, and to use APack (or whatever it is called in DVD SP 4) to compress sound - that saves a lot of disc space.

I have worked with Frontpage and have downloaded Dreamweaver
CS3. I am going to buy CS3 when the demo runs out in two weeks and
have a book on order from Amazon.
However, I have been kicking the tires in the demo and have a
lot of questions now. Is anyone aware of any online demo's or free
tutorials to help show the way. I know I can catch on quick, but
the learning curve is really steep right now. Thanks for anything
you can provide!

If you want to move from FrontPage to DW, then you will need
to bone up on
HTML and CSS. DW will expect you to bring familiarity of both
of those
elements with you, otherwise you will have a very steep
climb.

Best book for getting started with FCE

I upgraded to FCE from iMovie thinking that I would be able to just hop right in and well, I have been able to do so, but I have the feeling that I'm not using the full power of the application. In fact, I know this to be the case. I'm getting the same feeling I got about minute 90 of using Photoshop.
I'd love to have a book that can teach me the basics of FCE. I'm currently authoring a lot of screencasts for my job and I'd like to be able to give them a high-gloss sheen.
The amazon reviews seem to be all over the place, but it seems like the one everyone seems to settle on ( sometimes grudgingly ) is the Apple-blessed one by Weynand ( even if it seems to be dated against the state of the application ).
Can anyone offer advice?
