Is there a technical reason why Apple did not update the Safari app (rather than updating iOS to version 8.2) for the FREAK bug? Is there a technical reason why Apple did not update iOS 7.1.2 for the FREAK bug? Thanks.

New number of posts bug(?) + question; no #100, and total # of posts vary

New number of posts bug(?) + question; no number 100, and total number of posts vary
Intrigued by Tuttle's new attempt to join Niel's old habit to keep his own total number of posts count, I went and start counting my posts since the New Discussions. Because I saved my latest Old Discussions Post-and-Points info, I can see what are the previously-still-online ones (the pre- 14-Nov-2005 01:31 GMT ones), and I know exactly what was my "real" total number of posts before 14-Nov-2005 (2446).
My New Discussions posts number however, is quite uncertain.
Firstly, when I use the "My Posts" link on the right, then clicking on and on on the "Next" link,
my "Viewing 91-100 of 586 -- Pages" shows 91-99 instead of 91-100
(= should show 10 posts, shows 9 posts)
then I go on clicking Next Next Next, and I see the same missing counts happen elsewhere:
my posts number 100, 259, 260, 370, 390, 520, 558, 559, 560, 578, 579, and 580 are missing too.
Note that I wouldn't bother doing all this, and I would have thought it's just very old posts that are automatically deleted like in the Old Discussions,
BUT,
the problem is that when I choose to see all my posts together on the same page
(by using the start=0&range=600 suffix in the URL)
I get a total number of posts that is different (570).
A third way to quickly see all posts without having to load too big page
(using the start=0&range=300 suffix in the URL then only one "Next" click)
shows yet another, different again, number of total posts (573).
And my "official" total number of posts is (586).

- If there is no bug, I have two(+) questions then:
1) Was my post number 100 deleted?
(should be around 27-Nov-2005 18:00 GMT)

I thought the Total Posts number that we see in "My Public Profile" or under the avatar in each post (586), was only the number of posts still online.
- if it is the case, then there are no automatically deleted old posts anymore?
- if old posts are automatically deleted like before, this number should vary?
- if it doesn't vary (it just grows by one per new post), AND at the same time old posts are actually automatically deleted,
it has to show the "real" total number of posts then,
(as it is now, a total starting from the Old-Discussions-still-online-posts, it makes no sense),
that is,
the total posts in the New Discussions PLUS the total posts since first registration in the Old Discussions.
So,
2) What does it show exactly?

Yes, that makes sense and that's what I'm trying to figure in my OP, but then,
after I posted my "#221/2667 post" (11-Dec-2005 21:51 GMT), my originally missing #
259, 260, 370, 390, 520, 558, 559, 560, 578, 579, and 580
should have become
260, 261, 371, 391, 521, 559, 560, 561, 579, 580, and 581
right? (forget the #100: this one we know for sure it's a bug)
Or if the software counts them from the first (now that would have been a good start) instead of starting from the most recent,
they should become
258, 259, 369, 389, 519, 557, 558, 559, 577, 578, and 579
Well, that's not what happened. Now the missing # are
259, 260, 370, 390, 400, 520, 559, 560, 570, 579, and 580
(in addition to the same #100) (#558 and 578 not missing anymore).
As you can see, there is no logic:
It doesn't work as a simple numerotation of StillOnlinePosts, no matter the order
(otherwise there would simply be a straight count from 1 to 575 (=587-12).
It looks indeed like it shows which old posts are being automatically deleted. That the numbers are quite the same would simply show that the old posts dates were so close, of course they are deleted (six months later) almost at the same time,
BUT,
if it was the case, there would never be LESS deleted posts between two StillOnlinePosts, like it happens for example between my StillOnlinePosts #557 and #561.
Please note: of course I stick to the same method to make all my counts. Not manually modifying the URL, just using the default Next-Next-Next- clicking...
Modifying URL would add yet more differences in the differences!..

Too bad it doesn't help looking yourself at my "My Posts", as everything changes each time I'm adding a reply somewhere.
Perhaps a good way to troubleshoot this would be to start from a very simple basis:
--> "name" the posts with a number, starting from the oldest.
This way, for example my "#1" post (11-Dec-2005 21:51 GMT in this thread) would be named "221" in the New Discussions, or "2667" if you start from my Registration date.
At the moment, it is very difficult to figure what fault comes from the "#100 post bug" and what fault comes from another possible counting bug...
Then the New Discussions "fluctuating" refreshing delay too, possibly messes the counts...

IOS 8 YouTube bug. Question.

I notice that YouTube files were not playing. Did a search on the forum and found the workaround thread. But I get this Adobe Flash Player screen showing up but the video plays within my folio on Adobe Content Viewer on my iPad. After I tap the screen. I went and installed Flash as well on my desktop thinking I might of had a older version. I use Safari.
Any idea when this bug will be fixed? Any idea why I get this message? How can I remove it? I also noticed prior folios embedded YouTube links will not play.

Still not working. I am not sure what I am doing wrong if anything. The closest I could get it to work like it used to work was making the poster image an actual button and linking to the YouTube video that way. No really what I want. Want the reader to use and interact stop & start etc with the YouTube video within the poster frame and then expand video if they so chose. I'd like to keep them on the page and viewing within the layout.
I created a single page v32 iPad document to test on my iPad using Adobe Content Viewer. Then I applied the directions above I was given.
Granted I could of missed something but I tried all sorts of variations and none of it worked. I remembered to add in the http: (I also did it without as well)
When I linked to a video.html text document of the code (full code and short code) the text document would show up in the folio on ACV. I tried the cut and paste method with auto play and knocked the poster frame back to 0 transparency and that didn't work either. Frustrating. It was so easy and painless before the iOS8 update when embedding YouTube vids. Not sure what I am doing wrong here.o file for poops & giggles and
I tried a Vimeo video file for poops and giggles. It worked correct but the problem I have with Vimeo videos is they never seem to scale to the size I input when using custom size input on Vimeo. They always scale large and never scale to size even when choosing scale content to fit within the Web Content overlay box. That problem for me with Vimeo vids has been consistent. Thus I went the YouTube route because it was "problem free" until now.
Am I the only one having issues?

Messaging bug? Question Mark/Downloading pictures

Received my new iphone 6 plus in the mail last night, and it has been a bit buggy. When I receive a picture message through iMessage, it stays stuck in "downloading" and the picture thumbnail does not show. When I restart my phone, the "downloading" box turns into a "?". However, if I click on Details on the top right, I am able to see the picture. Anyone know a fix?

I think you must have been logged into itunes and downloaded a free app, and when you are already logged into your iTunes account, you will stay logged in for a period of time so that you don't have to keep entering your password. Maybe you accidentally tapped the icon for Carcassone - after already being logged into the store - and at that point - it gives you the download. I don't know why it would just say download. In the U S store, even if you select a free app and the choose a paid app, it still says buy app in the green bar.

1 What did you print? Depending on model printer and type of cartridge, Epson inkjet printers tend to get 150-300 pages per cart at 5% coverage. If you print pages which have more than 5% coverage you will get considerably fewer pages. This is especially so if you print pictures on glossy photo paper.
2 Which model printer do you have?
3 How many pages did you print?
4 Did you have to clear clogged print heads? Doing that can use up 10% of the ink in the cart, so clearing the heads two or three times can reduce the available ink appreciably. Note that some model printers, and not just Epson printers, will run the clean head routine automatically.
5 Which driver did you use?
6 You do know that Apple merely publishes the drivers, and it's the machine's vendor, in this case Epson, which writes them, don't you?
7 You do know that ranting in ALL CAPS is likely to make you seem to be someone who shouldn't be taken seriously, don't you? Over and above the minor fact that it's hard to read. And that means that you're not at all likely to get assistance.

After Effects CC documentation bug and question

But there is no list below. It just switches to talking about the PC.
Can someone tell me which Graphics cards for the Mac are best to utilize the 3D ray-tracer in AE?

The effect on render time depends entirely on the project. Temporal effects require CPU, particle effects require Ram, source footage that uses a codec that is hard to decompress line all mpeg formats load up the CPU, rendering large frame sizes may bog down the whole render if the pipeline to the destination disk is plugged up or the disk is slow. Personally I would say that once the minimum ram for your largest average project size is met, for my that is 4GB per core, CPU speed is the first consideration, then, GPU last.
Right now the only major consideration for me when considering a GPU purchase is compatibility with the Mercury playback engine used by Premiere Pro and it's inclusion in the approved for my 3D apps list.
My careful assessment of hardware requirements for the purchase of my new Mac Pro led me to the 8 core with 32GB and the D700 GPU because I could not find enough value in the nearly 30% price difference for the 12 core 64GB setup considering my projected work load for the next 2 years. If I end up doing larger resolution projects or Adobe significantly changes the way After Effects handles MP rendering I can always trade in for more capable system. Macs retain enough of their value that this was the best business decision. I'll use the savings for more storage and a couple of new plug-ins.
I hope this helps you make an intelligent business decision on your hardware purchase.

Tree component bug (?) and some questions

Hi! I have some problems and questions about tree component.
Problems:
1. I have an expanded tree with ~300 items. Each item label
displayed in 2-3 strings. After QUICK tree scrolling using mouse
wheel (I make 3-5 scrolls) for most of items displayed only last
string and one empty string :(
Bug of tree renderer? Is it fixable?
Questions:
1. Can I have font color X for tree item 1 and font color Y
for tree item 2?
2. I have a tree with ~300 items. Expand/Collapse tree
operations takes 5 to 10 seconds on Core2Duo. Is it possible to
speed up this operations?

I faced this problem several times, cann't understand the
problem. May be it's a bug.
Questions.
1. Of course you can. Write itemRenderer for this.
2. Tree has effects for expanding and collapse events, you
can reduce times for them.

The Cisco 887V supposed to support ADSL2/ADSL2+ & VDSL2 Automatic.
Also in the "Cisco 860,880 and 890 Configuration Guide", it says that Cisco 887V can be setup to connect to the ADSL via the ATM0 interface. As you can see in the example over here:

But none of that really happened.
It seems that there is a fundamental bug with these devices that make it impossible to connect to the ADSL2 / ADSL2+ via the VDSL2 controller.

Cp6 - Bug (button graphics) - phantoms that cannot be removed?

Hello all,
I just added a dozen custom buttons for the buttons gallery (url: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 6 x64\Gallery\Buttons).
Some of the new ones work, however, others when clicked, display an older replaced button.
In Properties/General/Button Type=Image button
I see all the older buttons but I don't want these buttons any longer and they are NOT in the gallery. How the heck do I remove these old buttons?
Anyhow, when I scroll through the Image buttons and select the new one(s), they appear as the older button.
The ONLY way I could get Captivate 6 to accept the new button images was to rename the new ones (added a "1" to the file name). This seems a bit ridiculous and I wonder if this is a bug.
Questions:
1. Why can't I simply replace button images (even with the same name)?
2. How do I remove old button images from the scroll list at Properties/General/Button Type=Image button
These buttons seem to be embedded in the project and are *not* in the gallery.

Captivate has done this (well since at least version 5).
The last time I researched this - I found the following:
Buttons graphics become somehow embedded in both the cptx file and in your user folder (Users\You\AppData\Local\Adobe\Captivate 6.0).
You can completly delete a button and It will stilll be available. They way I have dealt with that when building templates (not wanting to have numbers on my buttons) is to get the button looking right in a throw-away file, then when it looks good, delete the user directory, remove the old buttons from the gallery and open a new project file to add the buttons to. However, if you then open and old file that has the old version of the button... well it gets weird.
I certainly consider this a bug and I have reported it (a very long time ago) Apparently the developers don't share that view.

Adobe DNG profile editor bug w/ GH2 files where aspect ratio is not 4:3

posting here as Adobe DNG subforum is essentially dead
Panasonic GH2, select aspect ratio 3:2, get .RW2 raw file, convert it to .DNG using Adobe DNG converter (6.4.0.121 beta), try to open w/ Adobe DNG profile editor (1.0.0.39 beta 2) -> error message "DNG Profile Editor could not open the selected image. Note that the selected image must be a valid DNG color image".
XRite software has no issues to process the same .DNG file (converted from the original .RW2 w/ 3:2 aspect ratio).

MM NumericStepper Bug

Hi,
I'm having a strange behaviour with the NumericStepper placed
inside a non-modal Window.
Prelude:
I have made a setup in which I have a "stage" with placed
objects. When one object is selected, I show its parameters in a
window created via the PopupManager. An event is fired up to update
the content of the window.
Problem:
When one object is selected after an other (the contentpath
of the Window is replaced with the new parameters set or the same)
the value of the NumericStepper is changed correctly, but the
display of it (Label or inputField?) disappear.
And worse, when I force a redraw on the component, (with
myValue_ns.redraw(true); ) the downArrow shows below the
component... (an other bug?)
Question:
Is there a way to force the Label or inputField to redraw? Or
what should I do to have a normal behaviour??
Any idea is welcome!!

In Firefox4, can I lose the folder icons from the Bookmarks Bar while keeping icons everywhere else (because the folder icons are superfluous and extend the horizontal list of bookmark folders beyond the width of the window)?

I've just installed Firefox4 for Mac (OS 10.6.7) and can no longer see all my bookmark folders at once across the top -- because the folder icons make the Bookmarks Bar too wide. Yet, I like the icons on the other bars, so I don't want to turn them off globally. Is there a way to just lose the folder icons -- which don't appear to serve a purpose anyway?

Small correction to original post. Machine is an iMac 2.4ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. (I was at home when I made the first post.) But the bookmarks menu behavior still exists today and FF 5 is essentially unusable.
System details next to the post are not for machine with the bug in question.
Found a copy of FF4 to use until a solution is found. Turned off automatic updates to preserve this version.

That would give you a list of millions of rows. And how do you want them sorted, by version, by OS, by what??
