Free apps cost $1.00?!

I just downloaded some free apps from the itunes app store and my bank account just got charged for 3 separate $1.00 charges.
This is NOT cool. I haven't deposited my paycheck yet so I'm about to face three 35$ overdraft fees.
This is OUTRAGEOUS!
They did not say $1.00 or 99¢ - THEY SAID *FREE* SO WHY AM I BEING CHARGED!!!????

Sounds like they are verifying your CC account. This is normal for a company you deal with on a regular basis to take and remove small quantities from an account to set up the system.
If the debits are not refunded, take it from there but I'm guessing they will be.
As for the question regarding finding the app store, there are plenty of topics here today to answer. BUT...
Install latest 7 itunes software, click preferences and show applications.
Done!

  • Free apps cost me want to delete apps get money back?  how do I do this?

I need help deleting apps that I thought were free and I found out they cost me.I would like to know what they cost and how to delete them and get my money back!

You can view the purchase history on your account by logging into it on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option, and you should see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it. Click on that and you should then see a list of your purchases.
If apps are listed as free in the store then they will be free to download, but some then allow you to make in-app purchases to unlock extra features - you can turn off in-app purchases on your iPad via Settings > General > Restrictions > In-App Purchases.
Some apps also allow for auto-renewing subscriptions (e.g. magazines, newspapers etc) - there are instructions on this page for managing and stopping them : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4098
If you have made in-app purchases or have subscriptions then you can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will refund or credit you (but purchases are considered final) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption.
You can delete apps from your iPad (you can't permanently delete any items from your purchase history) by pressing and holding any of the apps and after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake. Then press the 'x' in the left corner to delete the ones that you don't want, and when you've finished deleting press the home button so as to stop the shaking. If you don't get the 'x' on any of the apps that you've downloaded (you can't delete built-in apps) then check that Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps isn't set 'off'

  • Why Free apps is not free for me?

Why free app cost for me 1$?????

If you have used your Apple ID for the first time in a MAS account, that is a test of the bank card you have entered to determine if the information is accurate. The money will be released and not taken from your account in a day or so.

  • I currently have my credit card on my iTunes account and when I have no money in my bank account it won't let me download the free apps even though they don't cost anything. How do I stop this so I can download or remove my credit card?

All downloads from iTunes are tied to the account that downloaded it, you can't re-download content via a different account. You checked the spam folder on yourr old account as well as the Inbox, and depending upon how long ago you did it, have you retried getting it reset : http://appleid.apple.com, then 'reset your password' ?

  • Even though I entered a credit card. Will it not charge anything if I only install the free apps? Is there like a monthly charge or just a charge when I want to buy apps that cost actual money?

    There isn't a monthly charge.

I replied to them for a waiver., and they reply with quite a similar email again, without helping.
The customer service IMO just use a template to answer question. Refer me back to the developer , which is apple itself

  • Will it cost me anything on downloading free apps?

if i'll download free apps from apps store.. will it cost me any dollars??
    plz plz plz tell me

Free is free. You need only lookout if there comes a app that will offer "full version" or enhancements/content by so called "In app purchases". If you click such a button within the app, it will cost, of course.
You can disable In-App-purchases to be totally safe from these apps that try to trick you into purchases :
IPod has a "restrictions" item in Systemsettings , there you can disable this "feature".

  • My phone was working well. i installed some free games and after 2 days u guyz charged me $34 from my debit card. and now i can install any free apps, they keep asking to put my billing info for those. please this is urgent. i want my money back.

    hello  sir/madam
this is a very urgent and important question. i nedd your assinstance.
i have iphone 3g. i was working well. about 2 months earlier i bought an app of $2.99. after then every thing was okay. but last week i installed some free games and 2 days later itunes send me a reciept via email and you guyz charged me $34. now whenever i try to install free apps they want my billing info. please i need your help and want those money back.
$34 for free games , i will show u the reciept. if its not possible to get the money back i will forced to take proper action.
    thank you sir /madam.

The games might be free but I think you've clicked In-App purchase which cost money. You are warned before you accept the In-App purchase. You not that young and you can read so take action if you must. It's your own fault and all purchases are final. Good luck.

  • Credit Card info for FREE apps

I just got a new iphone, I am trying to download facebook on it, and it shows in the apps folder that it's FREE, but when I click to INSTALL it keeps asking me to verify my credit card security ID. Why do I have to give credit card info to download and install a FREE app?

The credit card associated with your iTunes account perhaps changed or something. A valid credit card is needed for iTunes purchases regardless of their cost (or lack of).
Actaully a Itunes card added the account will do the same exact thing. Added a CC, then a itunes card then deleted the cc, can get any free app I want
