FREE APPS in SA store completely useless compared to US store - why?

i hope i'm not the only one who has noticed this, but man, what a frustration whne looking at games available and then trying to download them to you iphone via itunes app store, only to get notified that the app is only available in US, and i cant use my SA account to log on to US. yes, i know i could probable create an accoutn on the US site too, but what's the difference then? if there's a bypass for getting better and more apps on the US side , why just not replicate all apps to the SA site too?

There may be legal issues, licensing issues, tax issues, etc that cause this. It could be many reasons.
You can ONLY buy from the country of your residence (billing address) and only from within the borders of that country.
"Purchases or rentals (as applicable) from the iTunes Store are available to you only in the United States, its territories, and possessions, and are not available in any other location. OnLive: Access both a degree of Windows desktop functionality and full Windows versions of Microsoft Office Suite.
CloudOn: This was one of the first solutions for iOS productivity. Syncing with Dropbox, CloudOn offers a more complete Windows desktop. The tradeoff is it also offers a more pared-down version of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
rollApp: Offers Open Office programs for iOS, also utilizing Dropbox.

  • HT204266 I hav e downloaded some free apps from itune store. When I try to install in my ipod it doesn't go through. it can not install in my ipod touch.

I have downloaded some free apps from Itune store. but when i sync those apps in my ipod touch it dosn't apear in my ipod. i can't use that apps. what should i do? help please.

Are the apps compatible with your model iPod and its iOS version? You say you have a iOS 4.2. That implies a 2G iPod. Many, many apps now require iOS 4.3 or later or a 3G or later iPod.
Also do you have Restrictions turned on that would d prevent installing those apps? Settings>General>Restrictions.

I am trying to install free apps but am being asked to verify payment account first, why is this happening and will I be charged?

Are you currently in the country where your iTunes account is based ? You won't be charged for downloading free apps (some free apps do then allow you to make in-app purchases to unlock extra features, though you can turn that off via Settings > General > Restritions > In-App Purchases 'off'), but if you add or change the credit card details on your account then you are likely to receive a temporary store holding charge to check that the card details are valid and that it's registered to exactly the same name and address as on your iTunes account - that should disappear within a few days or so.

If you only want to download free apps then there are instructions on this page for how to create a new account in your country's store without giving a credit card number : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534

  • TS1424 Has anybody been charged with 1.98 $ for downloading only free Apps in the store?

Have recently registered in Appstore. After downloading several free apps I got a note from my bank which stated that I was charged with 1.98 $ by iTunes Store.Has anyone encountered a similar problem?
Every response would be appreciated.Thank you in advance.

Did you add or change your credit card details when downloading those apps ? If so then it's probably a holding charge, which should disappear within a few days : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3702

  • HT4461 How come is my credit card charged for money when I download a free app in Apple store?

  • Why won't my free apps open, they only work when I download another one why is that

When I download free apps they work but then when I turn my iPad off and come to use the free apps again they don't open unless I download another app how can I get them to always work?

    According to the website....
iOS: Troubleshooting applications purchased from the App Store
If none of your user-installed apps will launch, there could be an issue with Apple ID authorization. Download and install a free (or paid) app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information. You could also remove an app from your iOS device and download it again from the App Store or sync the app from your computer.
Note: If you have installed apps using multiple Apple ID accounts, you may need to perform this step for each account.
Why you are continuing to see this behavior, I can't explain. Try signing out of your ID, restart the iPad and sign in again.
Sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in
