Free Bt infinity upgrade? whats the catch?

Hi i currently have bt broadband unlimited usage. I received a letter today I was wondering if anyone has received the same letter to see if there is any catch? For example do I have to pay extra when my contract runs out etc?
This is what the message says:
We are currently upgrading our broadband service in your area to make it faster. You will be upgraded₁ to BT Infinity fibre optic broadband² for no extra charge at a time that suits you. There will be no change to your existing contract term or charges - the amount you pay will remain the same.

I received several letters asking me to arrange an engineer visit to receive a free upgrade to infinity. Eventually I decided to try and find out what the catch was so I rang the number. I got through to "Directsales" and all went well up to the point where an appointment was scheduled, and then the bombshell "I'll be putting your monthly payments up by £11 but you can call a number (which the man quoted) to have them put down again." After being told there was no catch and everything would still cost the same I could not understand why my payments had to change, I was in credit, was supposedly getting the exact same services (line rental, Broadband Option 2 with anytime calls add on) so I refused to accept the appointment on the basis I didn't trust why they wanted to increase my monthly payments. I even rang the number that the man quoted, to ask why one department would put my charges up and tell me to ring another to take them back down again, and the person I spoke to had no idea why I'd been told that. ALL VERY SUSPICIOUS to me. Broadband isnt great in my area and when I've called BT I've had poor service from their call centre so I'm considering moving to another broadband provider rather obtaining something that's supposed to be free but clearly has some catches attached.

Whats the catch?

Since we took my husband off our family plan I pay 108/month with taxes/fees for just one smartphone. My contract is up next month and it looks like a prepaid plan offers me enough minutes/text/data for only 60/month. Do I get the same service? I know the phone will cost more, but if I'm saving around 500/year on the plan that should help with the phone cost. What phones can or can't be used with a prepaid plan?

Basically only the horrible 3g low end phones can be used on VZW's prepaid service. VZW is apparently doing this to force people into their EXPENSIVE postpaid 4g services.

On a game on Facebook, there are always side ads inviting you to 'test' out a MacBook and now an ipad which you get to keep if you participate? Does anyone know what the catch is????

Generally with such things, the user must participate in several (dozens or more) surveys or other activities. Some of these activities require a credit card for trying out an item.
In the end, actually obtaining the free item costs quite a bit of time & money.

I am an Elements Plus member and have been trying to claim my free Elements 11 upgrade at the site recommended in another forum. However, I cannot get the CAPTCHA wording, both letters and voice, to work. I have emailed the elements address 3 times, but no responses. Anyone else have this problem?

Finish the download on your computer in iTunes and then sync the app to the iPad and then delete it. You will probably have to let it fully download before you can delete it.
You can try restarting the iPad and see if the download will resume - Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Yoy can try this as well and see if the download will resume. Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Look in iTunes and see if there is a pending download in there that might be causing the delay. If there is a download there, try to finish that one first.

No, we told you why you could get the paid books in the Pakistani iTunes Store; because Apple has not been able to obtain the rights to sell them there. There is no "fix", in Settings or anywhere else, to that problem. You cannot purchase paid iBooks in Pakistan, and you cannot use another country's iTunes Store.
You did not ask any other questions that I can see.

Still trying to get the free PS CS6 upgrade

I purchased a full version of PS CS5 Extended version about a month ago from GovConnection. At purchase time, I was told that the purchase qualified me for a free upgrade for the CS6 version when it started shipping. I went to the Adobe site, registered the product and filled out the online form to see if I qualified. I received an email message a few days later saying that I had qualified and that I should not contact Adobe again until they emailed me about how to redeem the upgrade. I waited what I thought was a reasonable time (May 25th came and went) and tried to chat with a representative to see where my email redemption was. The representative said that they were going to open a case for me and that I should be hearing back in 1 or 2 days. More time went by and still no response. I re-contacted Adobe using the case number that I was given. I received what looked like a boiler plate response with "Dear XXXXX" in the header and addressing me as "Susan" (I had signed my note with my name which is "Jim"). Long story short, I'm still without my upgrade, the trial version of PS CS6 that I downloaded is about to expire and I still don't have a CS6 serial # or product that I'm entitled to have. What do I have to do to get Adobe to take some action on this? Every representative that I've chatted with has had to escalate the issue to another tier and has not been able to resolve it.

You cannot "update" from what you have to any of the applications you mention. It will have to be a straight purchase or subscription at full price.
Photoshop is a professional level application that makes no apologies for its very long and steep learning curve.
Lightroom is all about volume, and very light editing.

If yours is a PPC iMac (G4 or G5) you cannot upgrade further.
If it is an Intel iMac:
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:

Emac upgrade: What's the easiest way to upgrade from OS 10.2.8 to OS 10.3?

I just gave my Emac to my parents...I want to upgrade from OS 10.2.8 to OS 10.3 and continue upgrading so the computer is as current as it can be. What is recommended? Downloading OS 10.3 from Mac downloads and progressing through upgrades until I hit OS 10.5 or is there an easier way? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The version of Mac OS X 10.2 you have, 10.2.8, is the highest you can get for free. You cannot download Mac OS X 10.3; that has always been something you would have to pay for. The same applies to Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) and Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard); each would be a separate purchase at retail. If it were me and my machine, I'd skip 10.3 and find a retail copy of Mac OS X 10.4. You may still be able to purchase 10.4 from the Apple Store if you call them (it is not available for order from the Apple Store via the Web). You may also be able to find a copy through one of the computer dealers that specializes in discontinued software or through eBay. You must get the full retail version; a system installer disk intended for some other model of Mac will usually not work and is not legally licensed for separate sale and use on other systems.
Note that the normal 10.4 installer only came on DVD - CDs were only available via special order - so your eMac will need to have a DVD-capable drive, either a Combo drive or a SuperDrive.

Upgrading one of the free websites to upgrade, but only paying the difference

Hi there, my question is in relation to my adobe creative cloud subscription allowance for 5 free websites hosted as web basics, under my creative cloud subscription rate, these web basics sites are normally $7.77AUS/month. I would like to utilize one of the five free sites, but then upgrade to web basics + as i need email accounts with it. My question is, when I upgrade a free hosted site to a paid plan. Will the site hosting charge be only the difference between a webbasics hosted site ($7.77AUS/month) and the web basics + ($16.10AUS/month)? so I would only pay $8.33AUS/month for my website. Or do I pay full price?
If I pay full price, why? Can i not use one of my free websites as part of this payment? So I'd have 4 free sites left, and one web basics + hosted site, that I'm only paying $8.33 instead of $16.10 because I decided to use my free webbasics hosting for this.
