Free/Busy Error

Sun ONE Calendar Server 5.1.1 hf 1.16
Sync tool 1.1 patch 2
I tried to configure Free/Busy option, by putting the Search URL as :
http://<servername>/get_freebusy.wcap?fmt-out=text/calendar&tzid=timezone&mail=%NAME%@%SERVER%
However when I check on the user availability through outlook, it prompts and error:
An error occurred reading Internet free/busy data. General failure. The URL was ....
When I cut the URL and past on the browser, it said unauthorised, any idea ?

Yep, indeed it does, except the password works when carrying out an autodiscover test, when testing free/busy that error appears. Lookups for free/busy work from on-premise to cloud, cloud to on-premise does not work unless you explicitly allow permissions
on a user basis. The on-premise Exchange 2010 SP3 environment is using an external wildcard cert and thought this could be causing the issue, may consider updating to SAN based. What do you think?

  • Free/Busy Error from Exchange Online Cloud Mailbox to on-premise

Hi, have a successful federation configured between Exchange 2010 SP3 (latest Roll up) and Office 365. This is to allow free/busy lookups during various migration stages (this is not Exchange Hybrid). Autodiscover works well and all functions work ok.
On-premise users can see cloud users free/busy
Cloud users cannot see on-premise users free/busy.
All local based free/busy works on-premise and in the cloud.
The Exchange Connectivity tool returns the below error from all accounts, this is the only error:
(A wildcard certificate is in use and am wondering if this could be contributing to the problem as I have seen this once before)

    Hi Inderjit,
Does this issue occur on only one user or all users?
If only one user has this issue, I suggest performing troubleshooting on Outlook client first.
    1. Please run Outlook under safe mode to avoid some AVs and add-ins.
    2. Please start Outlook with "outlook.exe /cleanfreebusy".
    3. Please try to re-create profile to refresh the caches.
Then please perform troubleshooting on Exchange server side.
    1. This issue may occured due to mailbox corruption in the folder level.
    2. Genrally we can check the mailbox property PR_FreeBUsy_NT_SECURITY_DESCRIPTOR and verify the permission.
    3. I suggest re-granding the specific user permission for testing.
    4. I suggest moving the sepcific user's mailbox to another database, issues will solved by itself automatically.
If all users have this issue, I suggest resetting the permission on Calendar folder and give the necessary permissions (Free Busy Time/ Free Busy Details /Full Details) via Exfolders.

    Hope it is helpful

  • All free/busy requests get error 403 in iCal with MobileMe

I'm playing for the first time with looking with my availability in iCal / Lion / MobileMe CalDAV accounts.
Everything else is working well with my calendars and Mobile Me.
I can add events, remove them, edit them, the sync is working well between the web interface and iCal on my Mac (10.7)
The only thing amiss is the availability window just logs an error to the console after a short time out.
It's error 403 which seems to be a permission denied error.
Do I need to grant permission for MobileMe to publish my free/busy status anywhere?
It it locked down until I allow sharing?
Is it tied to sharing a calendar some how?
Just sending a call out to others in case I'm missing something obvious. There are instances of this error on the boards with iCal and 10.6.6. so I presume it's more a server setup / service interruption than something I can change.
Thanks for any input - even if it's a "it works for me right now" or "I too can't get mobile me status in iCal"
(p.s. Mobile Me support says they can't help - talk with iCal people.)
(p.s. After two hours on the phone with iCal - it's back to the MobileMe people to try again. I figured I'd give a shout here before I try them again...)

I have a similar issue. My girlfriend is using a yahoo address and for the life of me I cannot send her an iCal invite from my me.com or mac.com address. It never shows up in her email, not in inbox, not in junk, not deleted. I get an exclamation point on her name in the iCal invite. I can send her invites from Gmail. I created a test account on yahoo and I can send invites to that test account.
Of course I can email her just fine. I can open the invite in iCal, select the down arrow on her name and select "send email" that works just fine. I try to "invite again" and nothing... this is maddening
I've deleted iCal cache, deleted her contact, tried just using her smtp yahoo address, i don't have this issue with anyone else that I know of...

  • OWA 2010 address book error retrieving free/busy information

    Hi All
I get the following error when viewing a contacts free/busy information in the OWA 2010 address book.
Outlook 2010 clients cannot view contacts free/busy information either. There's a "not connected" error on the client.
This issue started after a service pack or update was applied. Which one I don't know as it was done by another admin.
Has anyone seen this error before or does anyone know what this error is pointing to?

Free/busy data and the offline address book are two separate services.
Free/busy uses Exchange Web Services (EWS).  The offline address book uses a different web service connecting to the OAB virtual directory.

  • Free/busy information error for users whose primary SMTP is internal domain

We have a scenario where we have some users on our network who use s web-based mail service but have AD logins as they need access to internal resources (file and print).
We have been asked to set up access for these users to the meeting rooms. An initial idea was to create a mailbox for each of these people and set up them up with an email address in the internal domain (company.local.co.xx). This has allowed them to use
the meeting rooms but they cannot retrieve the free/busy information. When looking at available times, get the standard message "Suggestions cannot be provided because free/busy data could not be retrieved"
It's not really clear why this isn't working. Suggestions?

Thanks for the response. Those were my initial thoughts too.
However, doing a test of the email configuration shows that it successfully finds the OOF, OAB, etc.
    Hi,
Since the OOF and OAB Urls can be retrieved properly from Autodiscover service, please directly access the OOF url from IE and see whether a proper XML file is returned.

  • Free busy Issue

I recently setup a lion server and i imported calendar data,  user data via backup and restore,  and wikis via the wikiadmin script.  I am a linux admin mainly butcomfortable enough with macs.  Anyways i noticed that free-busy is not working with the users i imported but is working with newly created users.  I have searched the postgres database and the ldap directory for clues and i even found a resource_property xml entry about set free busy and another xml entry referring to transparent and so i manually entered them into the postgres database but it had no impact.
    Any ideas?

I have a very similar issue - the "Availability Check" for all users/locations/resources returns status "available" all the time, regardless of whether there is a conflict or not.
    10.7.3 on a MacMini5,2
    • OD Master
    • iCal
If a users checks their calendar using iCal client, it will show all appointments - it will also correctly show appointments for calendars that this users has read delegation on.  But with 100+ users there is a real need for users to be able to use the "check availability" tool in iCal client as opposed to trying to look at everybody's calendar individually.
I can post any logs/info you think will help, but I've not been able to find anything that even hints at anything wrong aside from a few entries in /Library/Logs/PostgreSQL.log

  • Calander Free\Busy Issue

    Hi all,
We have Exchange 2010 and users are working with office 2007.
I have not checked all users, but those who i checked (about 10 out of 300), can see the details of other users appointments who are invited when the enter the "Scheduling Assistant".
I checked the calendar Free\Busy permissions and they are set to:"Default - Free\Busy Only".
There are no other permissions to other users.
This issue is very important since the sensitivity of a lot of appointments, especially of managers is high.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Hasin,
    Thanks for the reply.
I checked the permissions from the outlook side.
I tried the command on the CEO mailbox and i received an error message (I replaced here the user name with xxxxx for security reason):
Cannot process argument transformation on parameter 'Identity'. Cannot convert value "xxxxx:calendar" to type "Microso
ft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.MailboxFolderIdParameter". Error: "The mailbox folder identity "xxxxx:calendar" isn't
in the correct format. The correct format should look like this: "<MailboxIdentity>:<FolderPath>". "
        + CategoryInfo          : InvalidData: (:) [Get-MailboxFolderPermission], ParameterBindin...mationException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : ParameterArgumentTransformationError,Get-MailboxFolderPermission
Then i tried to write down "calendar" in Hebrew (which is our native language) and i get only question marks (I guess that Power Shell dont like my language). I have succeeded to do it on several users, i guess because their Outlook is in English
    and the result was:
    FolderName   : Calendar
    User         : Default
    AccessRights : {AvailabilityOnly}
    Identity     : Default
    IsValid      : True
As i understand according to the result, people should only see if the user is available and it's not the case. Users can see the full details.

  • No Free/Busy Information for Exchange 2010 users in Outlook 2010 client, 2010 OWA shows this information fine

I have looked for hours and hours on Google and this web site for this type of issue and nothing seems to help.
    Problem:
On my new Windows 2008 R2 /Exchange 2010 server with IIS7 installed, I can use Outlook 2010 client to login and send and receive e-mail but when I try to busy search internal Exchange users I get no information (cross-hatch), but the sender of the Meeting Request
can see their own free/busy information fine.  And OWA users can see free/busy information fine, as can Outlook 2003 client users against this Exchange 2010 server when logged in.
I don't know if I have a certificate problem with regard to IIS7 or Exchange 2010, I did not create my own certificate , it is just what was installed by default when I installed and configured Win2K8 server, IIS7 and Exchange.
On the Windows 7 workstations with Outlook 2010 client, I am not logging into the Exchange 2010 server DNS domain, if that makes any difference.  On these workstations I can ping "autodiscover.my.exchange.server.com" and my.exchange.server.com

    Hi,
How many users encounter this issue, all users with Outlook 2010 or some specific users?
According to your post, the Error code 600 indicates that your Autodiscover service is working well. as for the certificate mismatch issue, we can also following the KB below to resolve it:

https://mail.mydomain.ae/EWS/Exchange.asmx in IE and see whether a proper XML file is returned.
     Or we can go to
https://testexchangeconnectivity.com and check MS Exchange Web Services Connectivity Tests.

  • Missing free busy information sporadically

i have a couple of users that sporadically cannot see the free busy information of other users in outlook when they add some users for meetings. my user is part of exchange admin and domain/enterprise admins and its happening to me as well. happens in both
cached and non cached outlook modes.
    running exchange 2010 sp3. outlook 2010 and 07.
when the issue does happen if i hover over the white backslashed bar i get the errors:
    "no information.
no free/busy information could be retrieved
you do not have permissions to see the recipients free busy."

I built this little command from the "CalendarProcessing" commandlet...  it cleared up my issues ...

  • Outlook 2010 User can't access free/busy info for one resource mailbox calendar

There are a couple posts that are similar, but I haven't been able to solve this one yet.
We just recently moved our conference room calendars from public folders to proper resource mailboxes. Aside from users not RTFM on how to use them the move has been fairly painless. Until now. I have one user that can't see the free/busy info on one of
the room calendars. Just one. We are using Exchange 2010 and he is on Outlook 2010. When he tries to view a meeting in the calendar he gets an error, "Cannot open this Item. Cannot open the free/busy information."
He has no problem opening meetings for that room on OWA, so it leads me to believe it involves some temp files or cached info on his machine.
I tried using /CleanFreeBusy on his computer and it did not remedy the situation. I removed his profile and added it again which appeared to work, but five minutes later when I got back to my desk he could no longer open the meetings.
Any insight would be much appreciated. I admit I am an amateur when it comes to Exchange admin.

Remove and recreate the Outlook profile from their machine? I did this and it worked for a few minutes.
By resetting his profile do you mean removing his profile from the machine and recreating it after backing up all his user data?

  • Free busy information not working in new exchange site.

    HI,
We have central site Exchange 2010 setup and it working fine . For business requirement we Installed new Exchange server(Mail/CAS/HUB) in new site.
Post installed, Auto discover and mail flow are working fine but Free/busy information is not working for new site mailbox users(Not working in outlook and OWA also).
I am having a strange error coming from outlook. When I run "Test E-mail AutoConfiguration" in Outlook, it comes up with Protocol: Exchange Http "wrong server name"
Please share your suggestion to change/configure  "correct server name"  in "Protocol: Exchange HTTP"
    Protocol: Exchange HTTP
    Server: wrong server name
    Login name: testuser
    SSL: Yes
    Mutual Authentication: Yes
Note : ( Protocol: Exchange RPC show correct server information and other Urls (OOF, OAB, OWA, Availability server).)

    Hi will martin,
    Thanks for your reply..
Yes , I already pointed internal web  service virtual directory ( "https://casarrayname/EWS/Exchan...) to CAS server in new site. Other internal URLs (OWA,ECP,OOF,Availability service) also pointed to
    new site CAS server.
But , when i check Auto discover internal URI and URL. below is the result.
    Result 1
    [PS] C:\Windows\system32>Get-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory -Server Servername
    Name
    Server                                  InternalUrl
    Autodiscover (Default Web Site)

    Result 2
[PS] C:\Windows\system32>Get-ClientAccessServer -Identity servername |fl *internaluri*
    AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri : https://casarrayname/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml
When i tried to set interurl using the below command and it completed with no error but still InterURL not reflect.
    command : Set-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory -InternalURL https://casarrayname/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml

    OK.
    Please follow this step.
    1. As you said you are in coexistence step , so for now all endpoint already point to Exchange 2010 right?
    2. Check legacy owa redirect that you already configure
    3. In Exchange 2010 , Make sure that you already configure "Autodiscoverinternaluri" by this command set-clientaccessserver -identity "servername" -autodiscoverinternaluri
https://autodiscover.domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml. and don't forget to create autodiscover record in DNS
    4. in Exchange 2010 , Make sure that you already configure "EWS" path by this command set-webservicesvertualdirectory -identity "XXX\Default web site name" -internalurl
    https://yourinternalurl/EWS/Exchange.asmx -externalurl https://yourexternalurl/EWS/Exchange.asmx
    5. don't forget to replicate freebusy from Exchange 2003 to Excahnge 2010 via public folder.
You error look like client cannot get autodiscover process please check it again.

  • Outlook 2013 - Calendar issues: Suggestions cannot be provided because free/busy data could not be retrieved

I noticed recently that I cannot see anymore free/busy information for my own organization colleagues.
I'm using Outlook 2013 (latest updates) upon Exchange 2010 (SP ?).
The suggestion DO work on my account using OWA.
Other users w/Outlook 2010 have no problems.
I tried to run "outlook /cleanfreebusy" but that switch isn't supported anymore in outlook 2013.
    Anyone can help ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I didn't say two but three places.
Actually, my wording is a bit confusing. In terms of where you go to remove them, it is indeed "Program and features" and "see installed updates". Now within there, I had the KB listed several times (3) under different products (like "Microsoft Outlook 2013"
and "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013") and I had to uninstall the KB from all three entries.
Note that, as per Robert Sparnaaij (http://www.howto-outlook.com, http://www.msoutlook.info)
: "I’m aware of the issues but they are not as black and white as the article(s) suggest(s) and not that widespread either to do a general recommendation to uninstall
a security update. In case of the IMAP issues, they are actually wrong.", and "It was said to
be fixed with Path Tuesday for December (December 10) but unfortunately somehow the Outlook 2013 update missed the cut. It got published on December 13 after all but only was approved a little over 24 hours ago as KB2850061. However, at the moment, only the
downloads are available but not yet the KB article nor are they currently being offered via Microsoft Update so unfortunately, the issue will drag on a bit longer. I’ve just published an article about it here:
    http://www.howto-outlook.com/news/update-2013-12-ol2013.htm".
Lastly, "The KB article of the November update confirms that it fixes the Autodiscover connectivity issues with Exchange 2007:
If you are using Outlook to connect to a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 mailbox:
You receive an error message that resembles either of the following when you try to configure Automatic Replies (Out of Office): Your automatic reply settings cannot be
displayed because the server is currently unavailable. Try again later.
You cannot retrieve Free/Busy data for calendar scheduling.
Add-ins that use the Account.SmtpAddress property no longer work.
These features rely on an underlying
Autodiscover technology. After you install this security update, Autodiscover may fail for Exchange 2007 configurations. Therefore, Outlook features that rely
on Autodiscover will also stop working. To resolve these issues, install update 2850061."
    Hope this helps.
