Free cases issue + question

I just watched the PC, and Steve said that we would receive free cases. He said that next week Apple would have a site up that allowed you to choose which case you wanted to get for free. Bumpers aren't the only ones that are being given away. There will be some other cases from other brands that will be available. This is due to the factory not being able to produce the bumpers quickly enough.
Hope that clears up some questions.
Here's a question of my own. Will we be able to input, say, an order number and be able to register for a case and have them send the case together with the phone or will we have to register after the phone is sent?

Thanks for the info!! The cheap (|) case I have does not work very well as it
comes off every time, but it works great as I haven't had too many dropped calls. Funny thing is most of my dropped calls is because I am in part of a crappy area for AT&T.

Free case issue - very limited info of cases :(

Very limited info/spec/images are available for various cases for iPhone 4. It is pathetic that companies don't bother to publish more info when they are reaping millions by selling their cases. It wouldn't take more than an hour to publish more info online. Unhappy with this lethargic behaviour.
I guess Apple should pressurize some of these companies.
If any one can give info/inside story/pics/review about following, it would be great!!
1 Incase smoke & clear - Does smoke have plastic material or rubber? What about scratches?

The MimeMessage constructor you're using needs to copy the entire message from the server. It uses the Message.writeTo method, writing the message content into a pipe that is read by the constructor. It was a bug in previous releases that the writeTo method wasn't fetching the data in chunks, as it does in other cases. Setting partialfetch=false will revert to the old behavior for writeTo, and for all other accesses of the message content.
It looks like both 1.4.4 and 1.5.1 are fetching the message content using a single FETCH command when you set partialfetch=false, according to your message. If they're both sending the same commands to the server, I can't explain why it would be fast in one case and slow in the other.
I did similar testing using my Exchange 2010 server. Fetching a similar size message took less than 20 seconds. Setting partialfetch=false brought it down to less than 5 seconds. Something's clearly wrong in your environment, but I don't know what.
Finally, I'm sure you understand that you only need to use that MimeMessage copy constructor in special circumstances, and you should probably avoid using it unless it's absolutely necessary. Even in the best case it's wasting time and memory.

Free busy issue outlook 2010

I am sorry if i am posting this in the wrong place.
We have exchange 2010 sp3 in 3 sites ( US , UK and Africa)
Users in UK start complaining they are not able to See free busy of US users but can see free busy of UK and African users.
We later identified this could be due to the more no of groups which result in increased token size, so we removed 1 users couple of group membership and he was able to see free busy of other users in US.
Then we have done a registry change in all CAS server to set MAX token zize
Create the following registry keys on all CAS servers ( Exchange Server 2010 SP1 CAS servers) in the Active Directory site:
Path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\HTTP\Parameters
Name: MaxFieldLength
Type: DWORD
Value data: 65534
Path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\HTTP\Parameters

But now users start complaining that they now cant see free busy of africa and US users, This affected only 5 users and all user outlook 2010.
P.S: No luck with OWA also for these users.

First check free busy issue does exist in OWA, if its not affected in OWA and only in outlook follow
steps below
have you tried with start--> run --> "Outlook.exe /cleanfreebusy" switch
try the below step also.

Verify that the correct email address is in the

Thanks, kaluzu! I was searching for iphone 4 case, not iphone4 case. You would think it would hit either way, but I did get it! Now to decide which one to order..... I'm assuming that since there are only either clear or black available now, that won't change. I was hoping for a pretty colored one to go along with the clear one that I have now, but I guess not! Right now I have the Belkin Grip Vue and it interferes with the flash, so a new one is getting ordered to day....
In the app, it says case selection and availability is subject to change. Hmm, I wonder if there is any chance whatsoever that they will have colored ones at some point? (yes, I know, nobody can answer that question, I was just pondering aloud)

Any idea when we can order free cases??

Does anyone have any clue as to when they are going to offer the free cases/bumpers? They say late next week, but who knows when that will be. Anyone got any info or heard anything on when that may be?
And do you think they will offer any good cases (ex. Speck)? I really need something as I barely have to hold my i4 and lose almost all reception. Don't get me wrong I love the phone, but I am losing service like crazy. I really do not want a bumper, I want something that will offer real protection, and since they are going to offer some free cases, I am waiting...

Was just curious, you know how some things leak out to certain people. I mean they acknowledge the antenna issue, but tell us we have to wait to fix it... Wish they would have held the press conference when they were ready to offer something sooner.

Free case app problem

Ok so I got that free case app in order to get a free case if you're experiencing antenna problems, however, it will only let you get the bumper in black but on the website ALL of the colors are NOT available for sale because they are for the antenna problem. This makes no sense whatsoever

The reason they are not for sale on their website is because there aren't any available. They can't keep up with the production. They have a separate app. to try and accommodate all of iPhone 4 owners with a free bumper or case...and unfortunately they are only offering the black bumper and black or clear cases. It's a free case or bumper...so I'm not complaining.

What are the best free cases available 8/12/10?

I ordered 4 (32) on Monday and it was delivered 48 hours later. Last night I used the app for the free case and selected Speck's PixelSkin HD.
A search of various keywords in the Apple and AT&T forums and more general searches on the web made it unclear to me if this is my best solution in light of the options Apple offers at this point. I am willing to wait for delivery on September 21 and bought a cheap case from Ebay to provide protection during the next international trip (10 days).
The reviews and posts that I found seemed to often reflect persons needs and interests. I have a VajaCase for my iPad but am hoping that the case by Speck will protect and can easily be pulled from an inside pocket of a blazer or suit which is likely not the situation with the iPhone 4 VajaCase.
Advice would be appreciated since apparently I can change the order but cannot find the original list that showed up when placing the order on the app.

How the Apple Store in Montreal refuses me my free case

I try to get their hands on an iPhone 4 from at least 2 weeks and today I managed to get one at the Apple Retail store in Montreal (downtown) but an internal policy prevents Canada from Apple to activate a phone to a company account that is got to my personal name (as if the president of GM was to change the name of GM's own name). I had the phone in hand, but I could buy it (by enabling it to my provider FIDO Canada, despite the attendant FIDO Canada has clearly indicated to the store manager that I was allowed) I will not be entitled to the free case as FIDO will send me a phone for "the next 2-3 weeks.
I feel like giving me $ 39.99 stolen from Apple, because I have to pay the case while the policy is one that prevents me from Apple Canada. I know my phone not sold will not reduce sales of Apple but I find it unfortunate that we treat a customer with them since 1986.

you are not the only one, My iphone 4 isn't qualified for the case either. I am in Australia and I can't get the case either, I went to apple store and was told that "case program in America job, they don't have control over it" I thionk the whole thing may be just the show for PR. Not many people I know who has a free case from apple for FAULTY IPHONE 4s.

Does the Lifeproof Fre case for iPhone 5s fit the iPhone 5?

Because the Lifeproof Fre case for the 5s has the headphone jack plug that is tethered to the case (rather than just the screw), I am wondering if the case for the 5s will fit the 5? Do all of the holes line up (even though the LED flash is different), and will the home button work the same way?

Need help with Free case program in Canada

hi, I just recently brought 2 iPhones unlocked from Canadian apple store
I do have apple ID but my billing is in Thailand, not Canada, so when I logged on to app store(Thailand), i could NOT find the free case App. Unless I signed out and search, i would find them in Canadian app store.
I'm student and I do not have any Credit card in Canada
Is there another way to get the free case? What should I do?

From what I understand (as a retailer) the program in Canada will be the same as the U.S.

DVD Case Issue

I posted an issue concerning a new Macbook Pro I purchased the week before last and Apple have removed the post from this forum claiming it was not of a technical nature. I advised people to check their new Macbook Pro 17" under the area of the DVD as I found the lower case indented. I have had two occassions now where the DVD has not ejected but can here a noise which sounds likes its trying an meeting resistance. Apple service advised me yesterday the lower metal case is not covered by warranty and yet from a techincal standpoint the indentation may be causing the DVD intermitent problem. As this is a "fit to use" technical issue I think it is appropriate to be highlighted in the forum and perhaps someone can help by suggesting another way I can determine if the DVD is having an issue. I think Apple do not want the lack of claim on the lower case to be public knowledge. The Apple service centre stated they cannot help me even though I purchased the laptop just recently. So perhaps there is another technical solution to sorting out the DVD problem and manufacturing case issue?

They don't come with dented cases, so who dented it? You must have. I can see a dent near the slot affecting its performance. Buy an external firewire DVD drive and gain a ton of speed and save a ton of money vs. the repair which they rightfully say you are responsible for.

Best free case for docking

I am planning to get either the Speck Pixel Skin or the Griffin Reveal Etch case. I don't often use my dock but, just in case, does anyone know if one is easier to dock than the other? I have read a few reviews of the Speck and a complaint seems to be that it's hard to access the various ports.
Thoughts anyone?

WiSM Design and Testing Issues / Questions / Queries etc......

Hi all. Heres hoping you can help........
I hope you can grasp the following description of the test network I have. I admit a diagram would have been better but it's hard to send a whiteboard over the web : )
I am currently in the process of designing and testing out a wireless solution and am having a few issues / queries. I have a 6509 with a Wireless Services Module (WiSM) installed in slot 3, one Cisco 1240 AP on a remote LAN and a DHCP server on a remote LAN (not the same as the AP)
I am using LAG on controller 1 with port channel 1 and native VLAN 20.
VLAN 20 is 10.1.1.0 / 24
The management interface has IP address of 10.1.1.10
The AP-manager interface has IP address of 10.1.1.11
VLAN 11 is 128.88.1.0 / 24
The service port has IP address of 128.88.1.10
The Cisco 1240 AP on the remote LAN is picking up a IP address via DHCP (from a remote DHCP server) OK and can route to both the aforementioned VLANs 20 and 11.
Issue/Question 1
I can ping the management interface locally on the 6509 and also remotely from the AP so all looks OK there however I cannot ping the AP-manager locally or remotely.
Is this expected behaviour? I would expect that if I can ping one I should be able to ping the other or is the AP-manager interface not routed and only used in some way to create the LWAPP tunnel>
Issue/Question 2
As previously stated the AP is picking up and IP address but it is not being passed the Option 43 parameter from the DHCP server (not yet ruled out the DHCP server as the cause of this). Due to this I have amended the DNS entry of the management interface (10.1.1.10) to CISCO-LWAPP-CONTROLLER as a last resort. With a console on the AP I can see that the AP tries to join by the "%LWAPP-5-CHANGED: LWAPP changed state to JOIN" output but then get;
LWAPP_CLIENT_ERROR_DEBUG: spamHandleJoinTimer: Did not recieve the Join response
LWAPP_CLIENT_ERROR_DEBUG: No more AP manager IP addresses remain.
Is this related to the fact that I cannot see the AP-Manager interface on the network?
Issue/Question 3
I have chosen to hard code the IP address of the Service port rather than leave it to DHCP. I am more comfortable having static addresses for management. However, there is no option for a default gateway for the service port.... If I try to get round this by applying a static route via the CLI on the WiSM controller to point traffic out via 128.88.1.1 on VLAN 11 this seemingly overrides all routing on the controller and causes my management interface (10.1.1.10) to fall off the network. Is the routing table applied "en masse" to the Controller? If so this surely means that to use the Service Port you have to be on the local LAN segement?!?!

I am having exactly the same problem.
Getting the same error message "No more AP manager IP addresses remain."
I'm deploying 200 AP's that will connect to 2x WiSM (4 controllers) in 2 seperate C6k Chassis
(Controller 1a & 1b = wism 1, 2a & 2b = wism 2)
I have had 1 out of the first 5 AP's physically connected, come online and register with Controller 2b (btw: this was not the master controller, it should not have registed with 2b). All others fail with the same error message as above.
I have all Management and AP-Manager interfaces in the same vlan/subnet as my AP's.
I place a console cable onto the failed APs and see the AP cycle though the motions of trying to find the controllers, download new software code from a random controller, then it reboots, gets DHCP assigned, then get the "No more AP manager ip addresses remain" and then issues a "Reload requested by LWAPP CLIENT.
Then the AP does the whole cycle all over again.
Not sure why the AP's don't register with the controllers when they are all in the same vlan.
I have a couple of extra questions.
1. what address do you bind to the dns entry cisco-lwapp-controller.localdomain, is it the management address or AP-Manager address ?
I have bound it to the Management address for WiSM 1a.
Also I have 4x controllers (2x WiSMs, 2 controllers per WiSM). Do I just bind controller 1a's address or do I have to put 4x DNS entries into my DNS server for all my controllers?
2. DHCP option 43, Do I place all 4x management ip addresses in the option or do I put in the AP-Manager Ip address?

2. This final question is more around Dynamic Interfaces for my 4 controllers once I get the AP's resisted,
Do I have to set up a dynamic interface ip address on every controller?
e.g.
Ssid = data, VLAN=10, VLAN10=10.0.0.0/24, I will bind AP's 1-8 to VLan group 10.
Do I have to setup 1 dynamic interfaces per controller in the 10.0.0.0 subnet, taking up 4 addresses ?
And if I only have to set up 1 or 2 dynamic interface, how does this work if the controller fails?

How can I get a free case like everyone else?

I'm a 67-year-old grandmother who stood in line and upgraded to the iPhone 4 on June 29 so I could see my grandsons in another state when I talked to them on the phone. The only cases available when I bought the phone at the AT&T store were iFrogz. I assume this is one of the third party cases that Steve Jobs said won't get a refund? I spent the same amount of money that everyone else did, and now they will get a free case and I won't. Not fair.

You can still get a free case, just not your money back for the one you have.
Claim your new case and sell it on ebay if you don't want it.
