Free download of Oracle 10g & JDeveloper 10g(10.1.2.1)

I am a new user of Oracle 10g.After downloading oracle10g from ur site,i was not able to access it on my desktop.The message i see on screen is 'to open this file windows needs to know what programme created it.'
I run Microsoft Windows Xp 2002 version on my system.I thought i should download JDeveloper 10g(10.1.2.2) maybe it might open the file but whot i see on my screen after i have completed the download & i try to open is 'fail to load main-class manifest attribute from c:\documents & settings\....(name of file).'
Pls tell me the procedures/tools that i need to enable Oracle 10g to successfully run on my system.

The files you download from OTN are zip files, so you'll need to unzip them. One thing to make sure is that you unzip keeping the sub-directory structure.
If you are just starting out with JDeveloper - start with JDeveloper 10.1.3 - there is no reason to start with an older version of JDeveloper.

I cannot download Oracle 9i or any free download from Oracle

After logging into Oracle and trying to download the free version of Oracle 9i, or any Oracle mdbs (I also tried Oracle 10g free download) from "http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/xe/htdocs/102xewinsoft.html" the web browser hangs for about 10-15 seconds and then displays
"Sorry. We can't find download.oracle.com
Try retyping the URL in the browser address bar above. Or, search the Web."
Is it something I need to do before downloading?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated>

I tried your suggestion and it still goes to the error page message.

I also tried your suggestion from all my home computers (xp, 2k, and 2kServer). It must be something wrong with my router (all machines are going through the same router) or user id, doesn't it?
I will try the following: try different Oracle user profile (I will register my wife for Oracle) and I will try from a different networks (from work on Monday).
Any other suggestions are welcome!

Free download of Oracle Kodo library

Hi All,
I'm newbie to JPA.
I'm developing on Weblogic Workshop 10.3.
I'm trying to add facets of JPA(1.0) and Oracle Kodo(4.1). I tried to add KODO library from Oracle site. (Selected Option, Use Oracle Kodo library from ORacle web site).
I get the following exception:
Failed while downloading Oracle Kodo library from Oracle site.
sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target
I'm not able to see which URL workshop i strying to connect to.
Is there any free download of KODO library. I had tried to download in the past and I was able to download it successfully.
Any ideas?

What I can do with the free download version of Oracle 10g?

I'm new to Oracle. What can/can't do with the free download of Oracle 10g Release 2? What is the difference between Oracle 10g Release 2 and Express edition?

Express Edition has limits on the number of CPUs it'll utilize (it essentially forces itself to run single-threaded), amount of RAM it'll utilize and amount of data it will store. It is missing many of the higher level security and maintenance features you would find if you wanted to be highly available.
The downloadable version of Enterprise Edition is missing none of these, however the license states that you can only use the that version for development purposes.
I suspect you can also use the downloadable version to educate yourself on how the various features work, but it doesn't specifically say that in the license and I'm not a license expert.

Hi there,
I want to install Oracle Application Server 10g Forms and Reports Services. What must I download? The installation guide says that "Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4) Forms and Reports Services allows you to install and configure Forms and Reports Services without the need to install and configure all of Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4)" but it does not clearly state what exactly to download.

we will start a project soon.
So we need to decide between 904 and 905 (10g)
(according to Steve Muench weblogs)
targeting production release in Q1 of calendar 2004.
We need a more accurate date such as 21 Feb 2004,20 May 2005 etc...
In my opinion preview properties meet our most (not all)
expectations and new properties can be added with new releases. therefore releasing production 10g is more important than adding new properties to 10g preview.

Licensed version and free download from OTN of Oracle 10g DB

I had a doubt with any difference with the licensed version and free download from OTN of Oracle 10g DB. We had downloaded a free version of oracle 10g
database from OTN and are using it in our live environment. It seems to be working fine. We are trying to get a licensed copy of Oracle 10g DB also but that may take sometime. So, my doubt is whether the free download from OTN should not create any problems in our live environment.
I hope, my question is clear.
Please, help in solving the doubt.

There is no difference whether you download from OTN or get so called licensed copy of oracle software. It's free to download and free to use you are using for personal eduction purpose, but if you are using for commercial purpose then you should contact oracle sales for pricing but you can continue with the same software. You might want to try out version 10.1.2 which is the same base code as 9.0.5, but with bug fixes.

Questions about free Download Oracle 10g, Database and Developer suite

Hi everyone, got some questions..
1) Is it possible to download free Oracle 10g and Developer suite? is a 30 day license trial or something like that?
2) On windows systems which are the minimun requirements?, for example in a Pentium 4, 512Mb RAM, Windows XP Home edition is OK?
3) Should I download Standard Edition? Personal?
4) If I am trying to update my Oracle Developer knowledge (I was developer on 1999 with Oracle 7.3 and Developer 2000) what products do I have to install?? Oracle DB 10g, Developer Suite,Application Server too?, what else?

I am tring to download a free trial version of Oracle Database 10g or 11g R2 Enterprise or Standard Edition onto my
Windows 7 system that I can install and use. I was able to download a trial copy of 10g R2 Enterprise database but the problem is that I cannot open/install the Oracle program.

I have Window's XP Compatibillity Mode and service pack 1 or 2 or 3
Can I use one of them to download the 10g R2 download to Oracle DatabaseUse the above as a workaround to run the installer. However, this does not guarantee that the installation will work smoothly as your OS is not certified.
Again, your OS has nothing to do with the download, you should be able to download the file no matter that OS you are running, but it is about the installation.
