  • Has anyone tried MacX Free DVD to iMovie Converter?

I want to convert a DVD (non copyright) to iMovie so I can play it on my iPhone.
I was thinking of trying MacX Free DVD to iMovie Converter, has anyone tried this?

Just gave it a go and it is very good (used sparingly) Takes a while to render out though. Tons of variations also available in the effects settings - and it is free - no watermark even.

    Hey,
I would try http://www.zamzar.com It is a website that allows you to upload your files, give an email address, and minutes-hours later, they email you a link for you to download your file in the new format. It also works for such things as downloading web based videos (like YouTube videos). I hope this answers your needs,

They told me to get a free file converter on the internet but did not mention which one was safe or what file extention I should get.

    Hi Bernice,
I deleted my first choice because I can no longer find the site for downloading the version I have.  I've never used the "Any Video Converter", so I can't comment on it.
You can try asking this question in the Premiere Elements forum:
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere_elements
Premiere Elements is the video editing program, and the users in that forum will probably have more experience with converting videos.

... or am I really going to be forced to pay 50$ just to burn a DVD?
    what makes you thinking that?
avi is just a media-container, a 'wrapper', no format, no codec.
depending on what codec(s) are in use, iDVD or other DVD-creator-apps can transcode 'out of the box'.
teaching the Quicktime-engine new codecs is done by the free tool www.perian.org
if your files need conversion, the free tool Mpeg Streamclip is highly recommended.
paying licences is only needed, when wmv is in use - Microsoft likes to get paid, if you use its proprietary codecs outside Windows (flip4mac is a MS-owned company).
most $$ converters on the market are based upon the free ffmpeg-library, so you pay for a nice GUI, some one-click-convenience. but the free tools, mentioned above, do same ...

  • Best free video converter ?

Can someone please tell me what the best free video converter is to go from wmv to mpeg-4?
The wmv file is one of those digital copies that I got when I bought a Blu Ray movie with a free digital copy.  I downloaded the copy to my Windows 7 machine (it plays great on that machine) and I now want to add it to iTunes so I can play it on my iTouch 4G.  Most of the advice I see is for converting from a DVD (like handbrake), but I already have the movie file on my PC and just want to convert it so I can moveit  into iTunes.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can use Handbrake to convert files as well. Just select the file as the source. This will only work if handbrake (or VLC) can decode any encryption that might be present.

  • Dvd converter

Got the new iPad, what's the best DVD converter to buy (or get free). Tried some trial versions of Cucu soft - no sound, Handbrake - very very slow, Aiseesoft - very slow.

I'm aware of that and would never contemplate doing so. Trying to put my own DVD's onto my iPad thats all, just holiday stuff etc. Find all the ones named above a bit slow.

  • Full Version DVD Converter

Anyone know where to get a full version instead of free trial DVD Converter for iPod instead of videora because when i downloaded videora all it does is download videos i dont know how to convert DVDs in videora

Hello, and Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
First off you should know that the copying of anything other than home DVD's is illegal. There are many different converters out there, one of the ones for Mac is HandBrake (http://handbrake.m0k.org/), and Mac The Ripper (http://www.ripdifferent.com/~mtr/). For the Windows platform, I would recommend DVD Decrypter (http://www.dvddecrypter.com/) to rip the DVD's, and AutoGK (http://www.autogk.me.uk/) to encode the .vob files DVIX or XVID to make the files smaller.
    Hope this helps,
    Cory

  • Ipod dvd converter help please

ive tried several ipod converter programmes, but none have been any good, they just wont work.
please can someone or people give me a name of a free, fast and reliable dvd converter.
    that'd be very much apprieciated
    thanks

free, fast and reliable dvd converter
For Windows users.. no such product exists in my opinion.
If you want free software... it is rarely fast and reliable.
If you want something fast and reliable, which should be more important to you than being free, then you may want to consider investing in software that actually works.
PQ DVD seems to be popular for Windows users, as well as ImTOO.
Many other titles have been mentioned in this forum. Your question gets asked, and answered, a lot.
Here are some search results for you to review. There's great information contained in these previous posts.
