Free ebook made with iBooks Author on iBook Store without an ISBN?

How can i upload an ebook to the iBook Store without an ISBN.
The iTunes Producer requests an ISBN. But I will publish my book free.

If you have created a paid-for account, you must supply an ISBN even if the price of your book is $0.
If you have created a free account, you don't need an ISBN.

Well, i'm planning on buying an ipad 1 because is still capable and is cheaper than the 2 right now, and something wich is very frustrating for me is, do some apps are still fully compatible? as the title say's, the new books made with ibooks author are compatible?

Apple created iBooks Author to allow self publishers create and publish books to the store. But not just novels or text only type books. iBA made these books allow audio / video ..and much much more than any novel. That being so....most interactive multi media books will not really display well on a screen the size if the iPhone.
Apple are more concerned in getting iPads in use more by business and education at all levels.
The only rumour that may well become fact is a larger sized screen for a bigger iPad mid to late 2014.

Is it true that books made with the iBook Author app and sold through the iBook store can't be sold anywhere else? If so, I sure hope people in here are aware of that. Just an FYI

Dan Wineman pointed out on his blog that Apple's End User License Agreement (EULA) states that books made with the iBook Author app and sold through the iBook store can't be sold anywhere else.
However, if you offer your book for free in the iBooks store, then you can distribute it for free anywhere else you want. Wow, how generous of apple... Just because you use their software??? What a joke

I just watched a pod-cast about iBook app. They talked about the licensing for the iBook app. Exporting an iBook to a PDF (or to another format) can't be sold outside the iBook store.

in the ibook store i select a book and then select author page. I then get an error that says the search cannot be completed on my device. I use the store and this functionality regullarly and have never had this problem before. I have updated to the latest os version

Most ebooks from other sites are DRM protected and will be VERY difficult, if impossible to import into iBooks to read. While you can save PDF's and read them via iBooks, for the most part iBooks is a store where you buy books and then read them from your library. Just like Kindle or Nook. You can't buy a book from iBooks and read it on he Kindle App or Nook App and you can't buy a book from the Kindle App or Nook App and read it on iBooks.

How to download ebooks form the Apple iBooks Store without wifi?

I have an iPad but my current Internet network is not wireless. This means I can not just download eBooks from the Apple iBooks Store into my iPad through the iBooks Apps. How can I access the iBooks store to download eBooks on my laptop, which I will then transfer to my iPad? It is possible from other stores to just download the book on the laptop in ePub and then drag it onto iTunes to read it on the iPad, but I can't find how to do the same with the Apple iBooks Store.

Good question. I am unsure about this, though. Being as iBooks is solely an app within the app store, thus transferred to your device via the app store or iTunes. I opened iTunes, went to the store and could not find a tab for the bookstore. Perhaps in the future Apple will implement this. For now, I think you can only get there via the iBooks app on the iPad/iPhone/iPod. You can buy wireless routers at fairly reasonable these days. Maybe your cable/satellite provider has a wireless option for you? Most do these days. Is the laptop wireless ready?

Updating an iBook (not free) made with iBook Author possible?

I pubished a picturebook using iBook Author the beginning of this year. It was quite slow as it had many images and audio files in it.
Last week I opened it and saved it with the updated iBook Author and it seems to be running much better now on the iPad.
My question is, can I update the book, even if it is not free? Do I need a new ISBN nummber if I am not changing the content?
Do the people who bougt my book also get an update? How does this work?

Each device needs to download the update. It wise to delete the old version- which is not needed as the book is not via the store...it's not seen as an update..just another book.
Do you use Dropbox or dimilar? If not maybe you should, it's free and the app can go on all your staff iPads and download from a supplied link.
i Send photo books to family "across the water" and while Apples Safari option seems fine, it can be iffy on some machines...so I stick to the old and easy method.

A user with your ibook (not from the store) can share that book via email, as an example, thumb drive, server, etc., without restriction.
The only way to prohibit restribution in that example is to not put it out there.

Can I sell books made with iBooks Author in the UK iTunes store?

Hi all,
I'm a UK-based musician who publishes a range of tuition books on playing the bass guitar. I've spent the last few months devleoping one of these books in iBooks Author, and the end results are really impressive. I submitted the book to the iTunes store last week (after setting up a US Tax ID etc) and it was approved in the US store yesterday. Here's a link to the relevant page:

My question is, is there any way I can make this book available to customers in all countries? I filled in all the info/pricing etc for all countries when I uploaded the book, but it's only approved for sale in the United States so far. Is there just a delay in the other stores being approved or can it only be the US for textbooks? I notice that the UK iTunes store does not have a textbooks category. Am getting worried now that I shouldn't have put it in the Textbooks category, although I don't remember being able to choose another option.

It is possible to publish books created in iBooks Author outside of the US. They will just not be able to appear in the Textbooks category as it's currently a US only category.
I can see in the UK store that you've got two editions of the same book for sale. One has screen grabs and is clearly filled with iBA features for £9.99 and the other at £6.49 with no preview images which I assume is in standard ePub format - both are in the Arts & Entertainment -> Music category.

No, we told you why you could get the paid books in the Pakistani iTunes Store; because Apple has not been able to obtain the rights to sell them there. There is no "fix", in Settings or anywhere else, to that problem. You cannot purchase paid iBooks in Pakistan, and you cannot use another country's iTunes Store.

Producing short history lessons with iBooks author?

For years I have produced history lessons and provided them as free PDFs on my website. I'd like to offer short history lessons (with primary historic documents and images) via iBooks in iTunes U. I expect them to run only 10-12 pages.
Is there any minimum length for iBook content?
Has anyone seen any shorter iBook content made with iBook Author offered?
I can't seem to find any examples in iTunes U or in iBooks.

Hank Feng's "Earth and Moon" and the new Biosphere book are very short but will serve you well as examples. I am working on 2 page teaching models for the UN's Girl Education in Conflict-Zone program so its not about quantitiy but "quality" as we instructional design professor always tell our students.

IBookstore soon not accepting ibooks made with IBA 2.0?

When delivering my first iBook via itunes Producer, I got a warning letting me know that the iBookstore would 'soon' be not accepting ibooks made with ibooks author 2.0 - does anyone know when that is exactly? I have one more book built using this version so trying to get it done asap...

This would truly make a good piece to submit as IBA feedback. (To improve the chances of it being read to the end, I would recommend to remove the judgemental parts of the piece and trim it down to the bare facts before submitting.)

I don't find my ibook in the iBooks Store

On Tuesday 14, I uploaded my ibook for free using itunes Producer and itunes Connect. The ibook was made with ibooks Author, so the format is .ibooks. I'm looking for it in the ibooks Store using the Title or using my name but I cannot find it. ¿How can I know that the book is publicated yet? Where can I find my ibook?

Try waiting a week or so, sometimes Apple does not approve things as quickly as you might like.
