This is a link to ablog by a senior guy within Microsoft. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/mssmallbiz/archive/2015/07/07/i-m-giving-away-millions-of-free-microsoft-ebo...He has made a lot of books available for download, free of charge. Although there is some dross amongst it, some of the material would be of value to anyone under going training / certification.

Free Ebook: Introducing Microsoft SQL Server 2008

Hello,
I am about to start studying for the upgrade to SQ Lserver 2008 exam 70-453. i completed my MCITP SQL server 2005 cert last year.
I have read a few forums on the topic, and some have suggested reading the free ebook entitled "Introducing Microsoft SQL Server 2008" (not to be confused with "Introducing Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2")

I cannot access this link without receiving errors. (possibly firewall related)
I have successfully found the 2008 (R2) free ebook however i need the 2008 book to read for the 70-453 exam.
Could somebody please either send me the .pdf file (i will provide email) or send me a link that works?
Alternatively, will the R2 book suffice for my 70-453 studies? are there SQL 2008 features that are not repeated in the writings of the R2 book?

But if you follow the link, which points to
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=189147, it actually downloads the R2 version instead of the original book depicted on that page. I suspect that the original book has been superseded, and the free download only applies to the latest version.
I have taken a look at the book, and it seems to concentrate on "what's new in the R2 version", so I'm afraid that it won't be terribly useful for your goal of preparing 70-453.
I suggest that you consider the Self-Paced Training Kit for 70-432, which should cover the knowledge that you require for the TS part of the 70-453 upgrade exam:

I can only see the free eBooks.... what am I doing wrong?

After reading numerous post here, after spending hours with Google, after interchanging mails with Apple support and after talking to two different agents..... I still can't download anything but free eBooks. No doubt it is something simple that I am doing wrong but after several weeks at this I am getting to the point where I want to throw the iPad out of the window!
I have iBooks installed on my iPad
I have an account on iTunes
I have downloaded many other applications for the iPad
I have bought music via iTunes
...... but as I have said when I click on the "Store" button on the iPad I only see the free books.
If anyone can HELP it would be most appreciated.

OK, well I spoke to the shop again, a different person this time. Again they said that the necessary agreements were in place in Spain and that the ibook store should work.
It still doesn't.
So I update my account, used a UK credit card and a UK address and it works fine. So still not sure what the problem is, or why Apple couldn't sort it out for me, but I am now up and running via the back door.

Based on the Amazon reviews, the book is not very valuable.

Downloaded free ebook from Apple store. The book cover is on the IMAC but cannot open to read. It is not visible in my IPAD library. What to do?

Downloaded a free ebook from Apple store about a month ago. The book cover is visible in Ibooks on the IMAC but not in the library on my IPAD. When I click to read it is highlighted but no pages appear. Other books open as I click on the cover. Suggestions?

I have downloaded a free ebook - the book is listed as downloaded in my books account, but I can't see how to open and read the book. Advice please!!

ibooks from Apple can currently only be read in the iBooks app on an iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch - if you are trying to open it on your computer (either PC or Mac) then you currently can't.

The others seem irritated by the vagueness of the question. In the development forums there have been worse flamewars than this when someone posts a requirement and expects the code in return. Normally I just delete the whole lot, but perhaps you still want to explain what you are doing here.
But before that, perhaps you want to consider "why" you should not do this...
a) Those users would most likely already exist in your AD with an AD password already.
b) Those users might possibly all be ABAP users "somewhere" (your options are typically wide...) and have a password there already.
c) No need to hardcode the password.
d) No need to create Java roles, necessarily.
If you provide more detailed information of what you would like to achieve here, and considering that it has been done before... then I will move this to the portal administration for you.
Though they might also react unexpectedly, so perhand try a search first.

DRM in Free eBooks

When I submit an EPUB or iBOOKs to the Free eBooks program for the iBookStore... is this eBook DRM-protected??
That is, even if it's free, do iBookStore place Apple DRM over it anyway?

I have not done it myself, but the Publisher User Guide for iTunes Connect says you can choose to have no DRM for any territory.
In any case, I think the .ibooks format can only be read on one device at this time, the iPad.

If the only thing that you have installed on the SSD is the OSX and NOTHING else, then that indicates a hardware problem. Run the Apple Hardware Test, twice if you have the patience - the extended version. Note an error free AHT is not definitive.

As a matter of procedure I also would boot into the recovery partition and run Disk Utility>First Aid, Verify, Repair and Permissions.
If there is no change, then another appointment at an Apple store genius bar will have to be scheduled.
I know that much if this is what you have already done, but the point here is to clearly eliminate as many possibilities before a genius bar appointment so that they can focus on other potential problem areas.
I am assuming this is a consistent and constant situation that will be repeated at an Apple store. If it is intermittent, that can be most difficult to diagnose.

I'm pretty sure from what you said that you expect me to respond, and I'll
do that one last time.
I agree that it will take some time to establish a better concept of how to
handle publisher's privacy and copyright concerns. That effort should be
ongoing because technology changes all the time.
I agree that there is room for improvement in the overall process of
epublications. It's kind of like the UNIX world in software: the core is
there and everyone uses it, but they all add on or adapt pieces of it to do
the job a bit differently. But there are parts to the whole, and it's
important to make sure that we talk about the right part, and not drag
something into the discussion under a blanket assumption.
But I still disagree with you about how bad the situation is - whether it's
B&N, SONY, Amazon, Adobe or others. For starters, there is no 'DRM market'
because digital rights are not present in all of the material you can
download (see above re: UNIX). Next up, unless you stay in the controlled
environment your source has established, you will have 'some' problems
because of the variation in processes outside of that environment(ditto).
That makes for a very unstable situation - with no clear roadmap on how to
get through it.
The bottom line:
Your digital rights problem with one ebook does not constitute an indictment
of the entire process and does not apply to every other one. It's just one
error that you can get around. It's not appropriate to blame digital rights
for all the rest of the problems that others have - especially on the flawed
assumption that DRM is intertwined with every aspect of using ADE. I'd
guess that the redistributor of the ebook in question got some bad data in
the digital rights and Adobe choked on it. That's not uncommon in software,
but it is damned annoying.
Digital rights applies only in certain situations. Digital rights are
created by publishers and others when they have a reason to do so as set out
in the DMCA. And it can change from source to source. Libraries can
establish digital rights and so can resellers/redistributors. Errors
associated with setting up and interfacing with an ereader don't involve
digital rights - it's a hardware-talking-with-software process.
Adobe's error detection and correction process needs MASSIVE work so that a
user can understand what happened and what to do about it. There's nothing
worse than blaming a part of the process that isn't involved in the error
you're encountering because 'fixing' that 'problem' won't change anything
(such as deleting ADE and reinstalling it when the error is external to
ADE). It could be your anti-virus or firewall or even your browser
settings.
ADE itself needs lots of attention to make it more stable and able to
recover from internal problems.

You need to install the Flyte e-books and enter your flipkart username and password, it automatically activated free e-books in your account.
I'm not into e-books much, so can't say free e-books are worth enough.
