Free Extreme FX Plug ins

Big props to Michael Norris for creating this suite of plug ins.
There isn't anything like them, no fancy GUI, just the standard generic Logic plug in interface, But wow the things you can do. Most of these plug ins do their processing in the spectral domain. There are no presets.
They are universal Binary Audio Units
Try loading a simple instrument like the EVP-88 and load these FX.
Mess around with the parameters you will be richly rewarded.
The spectral drone maker is great.

Enjoy!

I downloaded this package and followed the install instructions, but the plugins do not show up in my inserts. I tried for both User and system file paths. Any ideas?
On a related note, there are certain folders that appear in my hard drive's logic application support, but not in my user path, such as Impulse Responses and Ultrabeat Samples. I downloaded a couple IRs from Logicprohelp.com which supposedly should have gone into my user/library/applicationsupport/logic, but like I said the folder wasn't there. Is there a way to fix this? Is it even a problem? I mean, I'd rather put IRs into a User directory than the main path, but it works from there, so maybe it isn't worth bothering. I guess I just want to know if something is wrong.

I used to use virtual photographer from http://www.optikvervelabs.com/
It doesn't offer all the controls as other photo-effect plugins, but you get some good (or at least interesting) results and the price is right!
I don't know anything about it, but this site has links to a number of free plug-ins. http://www.thepluginsite.com/resources/freeps.htm I can't recommend however.

  • What are the best free Aperture 3 plug-ins?

    Hi everyone!
I'm low on money and am looking for Aperture plug-ins that can really take editing jpegs to a whole new level. I've scoured the Net and have found only demo versions of software that are really expensive to purchase.
Can anyone suggest some free plug-ins that I can download or suggest some workaround methods found in Aperture 3?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time!

You have Aperture.  Aperture comes with a very broad, robust set of image development tools.  You can not composite within Aperture (you'll need a graphics program to add data, text, or graphics primitives to your images), but you do most everything else.
(You can add text with the excellent _free_ plug-in, Border FX.)
What is it you are trying to do?  I cannot imagine a level of image development beyond which Aperture can take you (but if you want to do graphics editing, you'll need a graphics program).

  • Any Acrobat Reader 'free'  /  low cost plug-ins available?

    Dear All,
I posted a week or so ago regarding using VB and Acrobat Reader. What I want to do is open a pdf in VB, navigate through the pdf then save the current page no. in VB. A sort of index builder.
I realise from the excellent comments / help I received that since this is aimed at Acrobat Reader the only way forward is a plug-in. Thus I thought I would investigate this route. I've been stopped in my tracks rather quickly after looking at the plug-in licence rates.
So, my question - Do 'general functionality' low cost plug-ins exist for Adobe Reader to help me solve my project?
    Regards,
    Albert.

    Dear Michael,
    What I'm trying to achieve is this;
Allow the user to load any pdf file they wish, browse the pdf and when they find they relevant section (defined by pdf page no.) allow them to 'index' this by storing the documents path/name and current page no. via VB. Its a sort of index but controlled by a VB program.
It appears I can do it with a plug-in but the project is only very small and does not have a budget to buy the plug-in yearly licence. The other way around this is to do it via VB and use a VB compliant pdf library, I was hoping to just use the functionality in the Acrobat Reader but it appears to have little in the way of what I need. It can load/browse the pdf but seems to have no acessible function to extract the page no. the user is current looking at.
    Any thoughts are much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Albert.

  • Thanks Andy's FREE plug-ins (especially the 4:3 to 16:9 "fake" anamorphic)

This a message to "Andy" who frequents this discussion group. It was for his comments on his plug in site (Great free and useful plug-ins by the way) but the image verification isn't working. Others may find it useful if they're interested in converting old 4:3 video to 16:9 widescreen TV's.
    http://web.mac.com/andymees/Freeand_Easy/main/Entries/2008/3/3_Andy’s_ElasticAspect.html#
Hi Andy, excellent filter addressing something of an issue for me right now (converting old 4:3 video to 16:9 aspect for viewing on my plasma)
You're being a little hard on yourself saying is far from perfect; it's more like "nearly perfect" I've been experimenting with it, and before that Mattais Sandstrom's Smart anamorphic from Too Much too soon plugins. That was a script that I tried to modify (knowing nothing of computer code; just FCP's plugin builder) and I know it's a ***** getting the kinks out of the "bending" around the points of distortion. You've managed very well and with possibly a smoother blend (Protection override helps) this could be perfect. As it is, the user control; the ability to keyframe the sliders makes this a great plugin. I've done some tests and like you say, a static image works great. the give away is a panning shot or if you keyframe the protected area to move (to sometimes track a subject) That said it's densely detailed backgrounds that give away effect; out of focus works a treat. I tend to key frame on the edit so on the next frame the area has has jumped to protect another subject. If I have to track a figure for instance I try to keep the move as long as possible so the effect of "bulging" is gradual and less noticable. I also "squeeze" the footage slightly to produce two slight black bars either side of the screen, barley noticable, bur lessens the stretching of the protection override. ( I have best "compromise" settings of protection width 30, Protection override 3-6, and elasticity of 4) I think if you can smooth out that distortion around the protected area you'll have a "perfect" plug-in! I'd even make a donation to see this gets done! Great work Andy, Thanks!

if the source is 4:3 and the target is 16:9 then you will need to blow-up the image so that the horizontal axis fills the 16:9 image width ... that means you will have to crop the image either top or bottom or a bit of both.
simplest is to nest the 4:3 sequence into a 16:9 one and then resize the nest to 133% using the motion tab scale attribute and accept the default centre cut cropping of top and bottom of the image.
for more control you may want to reframe each shot for best placement

  • What are 3rd party plug-ins?

I always hear people talking about using 3rd party plug-ins in logic but I dont know what they are I have tried looking on the net but cant seem to get a straight answer.I know logic does not support VST plug-ins so are they just the AU plugins you can install in Logic or something completely different please can someone set me straight thanks.

3rd party (non Apple) Plug Ins can be anything from processing effects to Software synths, samplers, romplers whatever. The AU Plug In format is what Mac's can handle without using VST wrappers. Some users do use VST Plugs with wrappers in Logic but as there are so many AU Plugs out there there is no real need to do so unless you want to use a specific Plug which is only available as an AU Plug In.

If you missed our mail last month you should check it out as it got a lot of people talking. Today we have a follow-up.
Our web site has relaunched* and while the overall look of the site is similar there is a dramatic difference in how we are distributing our plug-ins.
Starting today Pro Import AE, Pro Import FCP and Pro Export FCP (both versions, for FCP7 and FCPX) are available at no charge. You read this right. Free.
We are unable to provide support at the same level as we have over the years, but we didn't want these plug-ins to go away while they remain useful. So if you can make use of these plug-ins in your projects, enjoy!
Thank you to all of our users, working with you for the last 10 1/2 years was a truly wonderful experience.

I don't have anything to add to my original reply - http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1433512. Which bit didn't you understand? And no, you don't need a folder for kaleidoscopes - you just put it in the filters folder as I originally told you.
    And here's a kaleidoscoped sunflower

  • Nokia offers FREE plug-ins for some devices not supported by iSync 2.4

Nokia is now offering free plug-ins for otherwise unsupported Nokia mobile handsets in Mac OS X 10.4.9 and iSync 2.4 configurations. All support both Bluetooth and USB synchronization, and work only with Mac OS X 10.4.9 and iSync 2.4, bundled with it. The plug-ins listed below can be downloaded from Nokia here:
    http://www.nokia.com/A4299040
    Supported models include the…
    • E50
    • E60
    • E61i
    • E65
    • E70
    • N76
    • N93i
    • N95

That's a good point, and I should have taken the time to point that out.
It's not particularly important that Nokia has chosen to offer free plug-ins for a limited number of their mobile handsets not presently supported by iSync. The really important thing here is that a manufacturer has actually chosen to support the technology at all!
I do support a vibrant developer community, and think that Nova Media and others who have taken the time to create plug-ins and, who continue to support them, deserve to be compensated for their efforts. It worth noting that Nova Media was out front with support for Nokia mobile handsets about a year before Nokia itself chose to offer support. And, as Jan points out, they continue to support units that Nokia itself does not.

  • Free plug ins for fcp

so a few have suggested a couple free plug ins for the garbage point masks, and i do apreciate it, this question is in regards to free plugins in general.. how safe are they and the sites there found on? what are the chances ill ruin my new mac by putting them on my system, sorry to ask so much but im just trying to learn as i go,
    thanks in advance
    Brucey Bizzit

Many of the posters here author them -- some without cost and some sold.
Are the sites safe? From what?
Never heard of a plug in for FCP ruining a computer. If they don't work or cause issues, just trash them

  • Installing free plug-ins

Hello, I have found a free plug-in called mehdiplugins.com specifically the Kaleidoscope 2.1 which I would like to have installed into my Adobe Element 10 software.
When I think I have it installed..and it seems  very easy...just download, I cannot find it anywhere..I think it should be in the Filter section.
Would anyone know if it's not compatible with Elements 10, or am I jsut stupid!
This looks like a very cool web site with lots of assorted plugins available.
    thanks for any help...Linda

Did you unzip and extract the filter?
Then right click on the filter and select copy.
    Then go to
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Plug-Ins
Right click in that folder and select paste.
Then start or restart elements and the filter should be near the bottom of the filter list
