Free FTP on OS8.6

Does anyone know about a free ftp application for OS 8.6 other than RBrowser? Currently it is not working.
Thanks

Panic Software has released complete with serial number as freeware its wonder Transmit FTP client, my favorite by far for its ease of use. Go to www.panic.com and search its downloads for Transmit. They also have released their Audion as freeware, another great program.
The other main FTP client and more is Interarchy, which also has released all its older versions as freeware. Interarchy provides lots of useful utilities in addition to doing FTP. www.interarchy.com

  • Free Website Hosting With No Ads, Free FTP Uploading

    Hi there!
    I am working on a website for a technology scholarship I am applying for. I need to upload my iWeb site, so I am going to use Cyberduck. I need a web host that is ad free (it is a requirement of the scholarship) and offers free FTP uploading (so I can upload using Cyberduck). Thanks for your help!

    Who is your ISP? Normally ISP's offer their subscribers a certain (smallish) amount of free ftp accessible web space. That would probably be your best bet, because others are unlikely to meet your criteria.
    Or perhaps a school you have a relationship with.

  • [SOLVED] looking for lightweight free ftp program for KDE

    im looking for a free ftp program, or an alternative good suggestion thats not free hehehe (i like cuteFTP for win) so i can download for my arch box?  i would like to do some file exchange on my remote server periodically, and like to drag and drop, cut and paste, and navigate via file browser to make things go quicker.  i have alot of files to move around.

    kioslaves are cool.  i guess they were working for me and i didnt even know it.  i especially like the audiocd one.   and thanks for pointing out that asset, i will refer to it more often now that i know about it, and learn how to maximize the use for them.
    using dolphin, i was having some problems initially (nothing to do with standard ftp however) because the directory is actually a 'webprotect' directory, so is accessed by as http://user.domain.com/location   i had to manipulate the url for a while to get it to load as ftp://domain.com/public_html/users/uname/location, infact i couldnt log in at all using my username, i had to log into the server as root using this method.  this is because the webprotect uses .htaccess for permissions, so as accessed from ftp:// i believe the server doesnt use the permissions from the .htaccess.  so thats one hitch when using a filebrowser such as dolphin.
    COOLEST thing i found so far, using the file browser, it supports RESUME.  wow.  thats nice!  saves teh file as .part, then suggests a resume when transfer senses the file already exists.
    im SURE there is a way around this, ill just have to play with it for a while.  because i dont want to be logging in as root, i want to utilise the subdomain that i created for users access on the website storage folders.

  • Lookin' for good, easy and free FTP program. Can you help?

    I could go searching for a good FTP program on Google but, I thought I just might ask here for people's experience when it comes to FTP programs for Mac.
    I wonder if there is any good, easy and free FTP program out there I should go for?
    I would really appreciate if you would give me the name and address of the program you recommend.
    Thank you for your time.

    The only free FTP program for the Mac that I know of is Cyberduck, you can download it at http://cyberduck.ch/. I have used it and it works great. Fetch is probably the program that most Mac users are using for FTP uploads, but I think it costs around $15.00 after the demo period. Give them both a try and see witch one you like best.

  • Best (hopefully free) FTP program

    Have iWeb and need an ftp to upload it to my site at register.com. I have seen a few threads with several names mentioned, and was wondering if there is a free ftp program out there for Mac.
    All I need it for is to upload my web pages and that is it. Hence why I dont want to really buy a program, as I do not update the site that much.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks

    Free and Best generally do not play well together
    Do a google search or go to the Apple download page and search or version tracker or Mac Update - there are lots of self help sources for freeware & shareware information
    I personally like Transmit and feel that it is worth the small price - Cute FTP and Fetch are good - I used to use them (Cute FTP may have been in PC days - not sure)

  • Iweb publishing free ftp sites

    What free FTP sites can I use to publish my iweb document?

    This one has a free version...
    http://www.000webhost.com
    You need to add this line to the .htaccess file to get it to work...
    php_flag short_open_tag off
    Otherwise, if your are new to FTP, you may be better off with paid hosting to get better service and tech support...

  • Any free FTP servers?

    I need to publsh my website. Is there any free FTP servers? Help me please!!!

    There are lots of them. And they are very easy to find :
         http://www.google.com/search?q=free+webhosting
    I use  this one, among others : www.000webhost.com
    Here's mine : http://dailynews.webege.com
    It offers the same as paid ones.
    And note that the world is larger that Host Excellence and GoDaddy. So you may want to search beyond them.
    And I don't belong to "Most of us". I'd rather think for myself.

  • Free Ftp clients

    Hello,
    New to iWeb and uploaded my first pages yesterday with good results. However, I have two questions. 1) Seeing the page up and running there were a few things to be changed. Uploading the whole folder again with changes didn´t change a thing on the web page. What am I missing?
    2) I am using a Ftp client´s trial period. But there are some free clients out there for Mac. What´s the difference, if any, between them (the free and not so free)? If free ones are ok, which one to use? Ok, that was three questions.

  • Can you help me find a FREE replacement for Comcast PWP that has FTP access?

    So, here's how I use Comcast's PWP via FTP: First and foremost, I use FireFTP. I'd prefer to be able to keep using it. Ok, so I'm on Overclock.net and I enjoy providing tech support for anyone who needs it, when I can provide it. To that end, many of my replies to their threads are more like tutorials. So, this includes inserting screenshots into my post (not just the link, but inserting the whole image) and sometimes providing links to files that they need. In order to do that, I just upload the file (whether it's an image file or some kind of file that they need) in FireFTP, grab the URL, and use it. It's extremely easy and fast. How do I use the URL? If it's an image file, then I will just use the <img> tags (HTML code for those of you who aren't sure what I'm talking about). Overclock.net's post editor does have an 'Insert Image' button, but most of my screenshots are so big that they get resized, and I can't have that. Using the HTML code bypasses their auto-resizing "feature". If it's just a file, then I will simply paste the URL. Every now and then, I might choose instead to link some word or a phrase to a screenshot image file or the regular file that they need. It depends on what makes the most sense at the time. Like, sometimes I need to make a step-by-step list and sometimes I need a screenshot to be in one of those steps. So instead of trying to find a way to insert an image into one of the steps, I just link some text to the screenshot image file. This link needs to point to the image file (so, directly to the image), not a web page that has the image on it!! All options that I have personally looked at so far either cost money (I am not going to pay for simple file storage when I am using it like this LOL that would be stupid), or they don't provide an easy way AT ALL to obtain the absolute direct link to the file. Instead, they make you dig and dig and dig if you want that link, otherwise you're stuck with a link that points to a web page where the file download is located. Sigh. I hate that. I can't use that. Not for this type of use! I just want what I have now with Comcast's PWP via FireFTP. That's all. It's free, and I have fast downloads for my users, no file upload limit (I could upload a 1 GB file right now if I wanted to), and no expiration date on anything - including my account. I could go 6 months without any activity and still be able to use Comcast's PWP space via FireFTP. Most services seem to say that if you go inactive for more than 30 days, then your account is terminated. Most services also have a file upload limit of like 5 or 10 MB, and some of my files absolutely NEED to be much bigger than that from time to time because sometimes they are big setup files that the person needs that can't be found on the internet anymore - that I still have. Old ones. So, I also absolutely cannot have a limit on how big of a file I can upload - just as long as it doesn't exceed the storage space that's available to me, obviously. Like the 1 GB storage limit on Comcast's servers. So, can you help?

    I've lost track with all of the 'discontinuance' talk going on in the other threads. Have you found a host that feeds your needs? It reads as if the goal is very simple:- have a host that can hold files for use on a message board- when someone clicks on, let's say, the <IMG> or text link, it simply displays the linked image or kicks off a file download. File size and what-not are different issues, though noted.I insert images, I don't link to them. Most people probably link to images, but I put them right in the post, just as if it were a true tutorial. The <img> tag in HTML is what displays the image on the page. Inserting images means that you display them in your post. Just like this:  My images though are usually big screenshots. This is just a tiny example to show that I don't link to images, I insert them. The only time that I link to an image is when it makes more sense, such as needing to have an image inside of a list of instructions where I don't want to split the instructions up with a big screenshot. Sometimes I only need to quickly mention the image in a paragraph, and so I'll link a word or a phrase or sometimes even a sentence to it. Dropbox is working somewhat OK. Uploads are noticeably slower, and it's pretty clunky for me. I have to delete "dl=0" at the end of the link and type "raw=1" every single time if I want to avoid having the link point to the web page where the file is located (and I need to avoid that pretty much 100% of the time), and I have to go outside of Firefox to upload the file and I no longer have a very fast method of grabbing the URL. I used to just stay inside Firefox: press Alt+T, then W then F, then Tab, then Enter, and then I'd upload the file, select the file, press Ctrl+U and bam I'd be able to work with the URL however I want. That entire process usually took like 5-7 seconds (yeah, including grabbing the URL - uploads were always just that fast). Now with Dropbox, lol, the whole process from start to finish isn't worth timing. If I decide to keep using it, then I'll have to get used to it. Maybe someday it'll be that fast with Dropbox. I don't know. So, I guess I'm still looking, but at least I have something just in case I don't find anything. heh I really hate having to delete "dl=0" and then type "raw=1" every single time though. So I'd still be much happier if I could find good free FTP hosting that provides at least a gigabyte per account, the ability to have more than one account (so that I could have more space, just like with Comcast), fast uploads, and nice fast downloads. Of course, no limit to how big the upload is and no expiration date on my files or no required activity (the ability to be inactive for however long I want). I guess I'm dreaming. heh

  • FTP Adapter config problem (again :/ )

    Hello all.
    I know that this topic was discussed few times before but i still cant setup my FTP adapter.
    My OS is Win XP. I downloaded free ftp server (XLight FTP Server) and setup my oc4j-ra.xml in following way:
         <connector-factory location="eis/Ftp/FtpAdapter" connector-name="Ftp Adapter">
         <config-property name="host" value="10.172.201.57"/>
         <config-property name="port" value="210"/>
         <config-property name="username" value="szeryf"/>
         <config-property name="password" value="szeryf"/>
         </connector-factory>
    where shown ip address is my computer address. I also created user szeryf/szeryf at my local FTP server and tried to connect to that server using some ftp client - with success. Then i created some simple BPEL process to upload file to FTP server. Each time i try i get fault that connection to server failed.
    Maybe someone experienced such a thing and could help me with that problem?
    Regards,
    Chris

    Are you sure your ftp server is on port 210? It seems odd.
    And is there a reason you are editing oc4j-ra.xml directly? Why not make a partner link and get that working first?

  • FTP server permissions "Read Only"

    I manage my own website, and would like to use Finder as my FTP medium. I can log into it, and download from it, but I cannot write to it. I have web admin privileges, but I'm unable to UPload to my ftp server.
    It runs on the basic port 21, and has run normally in the past, but this is the first time that I've tried to mount it as a volume on a mac.
    This way would be so much easier to use than the FTP online protocol that I use.
    Thanks in advance,
    Superd@ve

    Hi, yes,FTP is Read only in the finder in .4. at least.
    You can use Terminal commands or a free FTP client such as Cyberduck to get both R&W rights..
