Free Harry Potter Audio Book???

I'm thinking of downloading iTunes because I recieved an iTunes add from Apple featuring Harry Potter 6. When I clicked the download button, it said that I would have to download iTunes first, before I could have access Harry Potter. I'm assuming that the audio book is free because there is no price shown on the add. My question is: Is Harry Potter audio truly free from iTunes? I have the Harry Potter CD's already from my local library. I love getting free audio books at the library. I couldn't imagine actually paying for an audio book. But it would be nice to have a personal copy if it was free. So are you guys all getting free audio books from iTunes? Is it worth the download?

I listen to audio books all the time, so at 50$ a pop I'd probablly have to win the lottery before I could afford everything on iTunes audio. I’m just going to continue to get my audio books for free from the library like I’ve been doing for years. Just a hint for everybody who likes audio books - if public library dosen’t have the audio book you want, you can request it and they will get it from another library in about a week, because all national public libraries are now interconnected with an exchange program. This even works with current best sellers like Harry Potter 6 which I’m enjoying right now. I know iTunes is the “in” trendy thing, and some people think the library is for nerds, but I really can’t justify having to pay so much money just to be cool. After all, its not like people are watching me listen to my audio books and saying, “Oh my, that’s not an iTunes copy, it must be a nerdy public library copy.”

  • I can no longer find Harry Potter audio books on iTunes (April 2012)

I bought the first 3 Potter audio books in iTunes January 2012.
When I search the iTunes store, the Harry Potter audio books are no longer appearing. We just purchased the first 3 ones this year 2012 and would like to purchase the rest but they dont show up at the iTunes store.

  • Where are the Harry Potter audio books?

I downloaded the first 6 Harry Potter audio books over the past couple of months, and now I can't find them in the cloud, or even in Itunes! Where did they go?!

im in the same boat as you, i bought 1-6 on itunes and it's pretty frustrating i can't even get them on my iphone my ipod or any other computer and thats a couple hundred dollars worth of audio books and i only have them on a laptop thats now fried, they need to fix this now because thats 200 dollars worth of purchases that we can't get back, im afraid to sync my old ipod to my laptop in fear that it will delete them off my old ipod. APPLE FIX THIS!

  • Purcahsed Harry Potter audio books missing

The first three Harry Potter audio books that I purchase over a year ago are missing and I cannot find them on my purchases list. I know they are no longer available to buy from itunes but surely the ones I've bought I can still access? They are not cheap so I would be very upset if I could't get them onto my computer.

Oh crap! Very new to this, I think I gave ME the 10 points instead of YOU : / That's a silly system.
Thankyou for your response. I booted up the old dusty lap top, backed up th file and have transfered in onto current PC.
    Thanks again : )

  • Popping, Cracking & Skipping on Harry Potter Audio CDs

    Hey All!
I have heard this/my problem with files that weren't mine in the past, but now that it's happened to me, I need to find out what's going on.
I purchased the new/last Harry Potter book on CD. When I rip it, I find that the last 2 or 3 audio tracks/files contain popping, cracking or skipping in them, some very bad and hard to understand. I thought it was the CDs at first and took them back to the store for an exchange.
Once I had them home, it did it again. So on the tracks that I got popping on, I first went back to check the CD itself, some tracks sound perfect, so I would re-rip that individual file. Sometimes it'd work and other times it doesn't. Most times you can hear it on the CD and the MP3 file it made, other times you can only hear it on the CD.
Either way, I don't believe it's the CD. If I put the CD in our stereo, you don't hear any popping at all. Being it's always the last 2 or 3 files on each CD, I am thinking it's iTunes creating the issue. Maybe I need to try ripping it with another software to see, but the other programs I found were older OSX versions that either don't exist anymore or aren't supported (and they rip very very slowly).
Any thoughts or ideas from anyone...any suggestions what to try to use or any settings I should change?
    Thanks,
    Mike

Michael--I'm certainly no expert, but finding no answers to my problem which is almost exactly as you described, I tried this and so far so good. It may not be the best fix but it works for now.
All I did was to re-import the problem tracks as MP3 files and the popping and skipping were resolved.
I'd like to determine the cause of the problem and the best fix but with this, at least my immediate frustration has been relieved.
    Best of luck!

  • ITunes blocks Harry Potter mp3s.  Why ?

We recently bought the Harry Potter audio books in mp3 format.  I can import them into iTunes but I can not get them into the iCloud or to any of my devices - iPads or iPhones.  iTunes puts a NotCloud icon in the row for each.  If you click on the icon you get a message "This item is not eligible for iCloud."  In addition you can not drag any of the mp3s to any device.  Basically iTunes will not let me listen to these mp3s.  Why ?  How do I get access to these mp3s that I have paid for on my iPads and iPhones ?

    MHMH wrote:
I have successfully gotten the Harry Potter mp3 digital audio books into iMatch and onto my device.
Chris CA: You did not previously state you had iTunes Match.
MHMH: My apologies.  When I initially added them to the library they also had an icon of a cloud with a bar through it.  I tried multiple scenarios with and without iMatch.  Until they were set as audiobooks I made no progress.
    - To get the mp3s into the cloud there are 2 steps that must be accomplished:
Chris CA: 1. Sign up for iTunes Match
    then do the other steps...
There is a video on the Pottermore site that explains the scenario if you do not have iMatch.  In that scenario you have to drag the files from your library to your device, unless you have sync options that load all music to your device.
Chris CA: Actually, set them as Audiobooks. select the Audiobooks tab and tick what you want to sync.
The error message that I was getting seems to have to do with the digital rights associated with the mp3s.
Chris CA: MP3 files do not (and cannot) contain any DRM.
MHMH: The information on the digital rights came from Apple Support Chat.
I believe that the mp3s are apparently identified as digital audio books and can not be put in the cloud as music.  Somehow iTunes figures this out.
Chris CA: As Edward noted above, the low bitrate of these files is what prevents them from uploading to iTunes Match.
MHMH: Are you saying that they can not be uploaded as music because of the bit rate ?  Or can not be uploaded at all because of the bit rate ?
The requirement that you manually have to specify these as audio books seems odd to me.  iTunes can figure out that they need to be classified that way/  Why doesn't this happen automatically ?
Chris CA: Because they are simply an MP3 file with no tags to specifiy it is an audiobook. The tag for this is added after you add it to iTunes.
MHMH:  So tagging them made it possible for iMatch to upload them ?  with the lower bit rate ?  I am pleased that I have access to the content.  I am trying to net this out so that others do not have to go through this learning process.  Thank you.

  • Help with audio books on CDs please

Please be gentle, I'm totally new to the ipod phenomenon and itunes etc.
Just got a new ipod touch and want to put my previously purchased Harry Potter audio cd's on to it to listen to. Trouble is when I do that it classes them as music rather than putting them in the audio book section of the ipod. Now it's not a huge problem but it really is quite irritating. I object to paying the extortionate rate on itunes for something I've already got so don't want to download them again.
Is there a way of changing the way itunes recognises my cds to class it as an audio book and if so is there a way of combining the 7+ cd's for each book together so that it becomes just 1 book rather than having them as seperate cd's called the same thing? (hope I'm making sense here!)
If anyone can help I'd be very grateful.

Take another look. The Aldoblog isn't really complicated. The summary of items to note
    - You can reduce your file size by going to preferences/advanced/import and changing to 32kps (more details in the blog). Not necessary, but will save you lots of space.
    - You want to joint the cd tracks to limit the number of files. Highlight all the tracks, and select join tracks from the advanced menu. You do this each time you import a disk, and end up with one track for each CD.
    - Once you've got all your disks read in, then select the tracks to get info (you can right click). Under options, select "remember playback position". That way when you only have to remember which disk you last played.
I create a playlist for each audio book.

  • Complete Harry Potter Audiobook Skips ahead

I am experiencing a problem with The Complete Harry Potter on my 40 GB 3rd Generation iPod. I downloaded the Complete Harry Potter (6 books) from the iTunes music store and it plays without any problems on my iMac G4 with iTunes 6.0.x (the audiobook was downloaded after updating to iTunes 6).
When I attempt to play any of the books on my iPod, the "song" or track plays fine for approximately 30 minutes, but then skips ahead to the next track (i.e. an hour into Book One, Part One, it skips ahead to Part Two, completely ignoring the remaining 1 hour and 30 minutes of Part One). This has happened on almost every track in three of the six books (haven't tried the other three).
    Any thoughts/fixes/etc. would be appreciated.

Have you updated your iPod's firmware to the most recent version? You need to download the iPod software updater to do this.

  • Can't finish downloading Harry Potter book series

    Hi,
We purchased the special edition harry potter ipod which came with the complete audio book set of all the harry potter books. we went to the itunes store, typed in the special secret code and started downloading. we downloaded for a very long time then the download stopped before all of the audio books had downloaded. We reconnected to the itunes store and typed the super special secret code in again, but they said this code had been used before and couldn't be used again.
So, we spent 20 minutes on the phone trying to get some help only to find out that there is no telephone support for the itunes store. So, we went to the apple website and submitted an email support request, but was told that will take 72 hours to process.
So we're here, begging the mighty apple corporation to please help my daughter download the hundreds of dollars of audio books we purchased from your store...if it's not too much trouble.

Hi Jeff, we are fellow users here and can't credit your account or anything.
Lucky kid, I'm a grownup who wouldn't mind have that Harry Potter iPod!
First check for interrupted downloads, and if that doesn't work, email iTMS Customer Support.

  • How do I get the Harry Potter books to upload across all my devices?

Hi everyone, I recently purchased and downloaded the Harry Potter ebooks from the Pottermore shop and put them on my iBooks on my iMac.  I noticed right away that they didn't appear on either my iPad or iPhone when I openned up the iBooks app on there.  So I connected them to iTunes and put them on there and began reading one of them on my iPad.  I went to go read it also on my iPhone but it is not updating to the last page I read on my iPad and I was wondering what I can do to let that happen?  Is this because they are not in my iCloud because I didn't buy the books directly from the iBooks store?  When downloaded they were in epub files.  Any help would be awesome! Thanks!

    Yes, it is.

Sorry, I should have been more complete in my question. I have done the steps you have listed, the files are not showing up in my iTunes anywhere. I'm obviously doing something wrong, but I cannot figure out what it is. Everything I find online seems to be for older systems then Windows 8.1. I was hoping that might be my problem. Any additional insight or suggestions is appreciated.
    MB,
After you do the unzip operation, can you see the MP3s on your computer?  What happens when you right-click the MP3 and choose Open With > iTunes?

  • Free Audio Book Trial with New

    Hi,
I bought the zen 8gb the other week and I notice that you got a free 4 day unlimited trial for an online audio book website. I can't for the life of me remember where I saw it or find the site. Does anyone know what site it is that offers the free trial as you get to keep anything that you download in the 4 days. I'm in the UK?Thanks

  • Audio Books and ipods

    Hello All
Recently my wife has lost some vision in her eyes and can no longer find it easy to read books. My idea is to buy an ipod (no idea which) and download the cd audio book onto the ipod so she can listen.
    Q. Will whole cd audio books fit on an ipod ???????
Hope you can help me choose which model I need because I have no idea at all.
    Thanks
    Stuart
    G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Depending on the format and size of the book it should have no problems fitting on any of the iPods.
A lot of my audiobooks are less than 1 gb and are in apple m4b protected format.
I suggest you let her look at the screens of some of the available iPods and see which she is more comfortable with.
The nano screen is small but not hard to read and it will hold a few books depending on the size you get.
A shuffle works good because it is so simple. Problem is some of the books may need to be broken in two which is usual in a lot of cases any way. I normally load one book on it and that makes it very easy to use. You just have to add books when she finishes them.
One thing to remember is to join files when you import the cds into iTunes. I forgot to on Harry Potter and ended up with a jillion 1 minute tracks.

  • Best Way to copy audio books

    Hi
What is the best way to copy Audio Books. I just bought all the Harry potter on CD's. I have a 30g 5th gen IPOD had it for 2 month. Upgraded ipod to 1.2 and iTunes 7.0.1.
    Everything is running fine.
    Thanks,

    Hello again,
I went and checked PDF document properties. The document was created by an application called (3B2 Total Publishing). It's the application that the printing press used to creat the PDF file. Unfortunately I don't have the source document and the printing press claim they don't have any source files but used in-house applicatin to create the PDF book.
I checked fonts used in the PDF file and I found 17 fonts named T1 to T17 and all (Type 3) fonts. I'm seasoned IT engineer but no experience in publishing. So, no idea whether or not this information is usefull to find a way to publish these books in epub.
    Cheers,
    Abdul
