Free Ipod with purchase of macbook

I know that this special is going on now and last year at the same time. I bought a new macbook for school in December of 2007 and wasn't told about this special. Was it not going on at that time? Or should I have received a free nano with that purchase?

Want to hear something cool?
I bought my macbook from Best Buy!
The apple store was to far to drive and did not want to wait for it to get shipped.
BEST BUY Honored the apple promo and matched it in store!
I bought the macbook and Nano they gave me $100 off the macbook and gave me an instant gift card for $200 to cover for the Nano!
wow!

  • Free Itouch with purchase of Macbook promo

Hi, sorry I didn't know where else to post this...
I know there is an ongoing promo where you can get a free itouch with the purchase of a mac computer...thing is, i didnt know about it until now. I actually got my computer in april, just barely a month before they started this promo..is there a way i could still avail of this promo?

No, but if it's any consolation, it's really not that great of a promo. You have to actually buy both the computer and the iPod, then fill out a rebate form, which will refund the cost of the iPod about 3 months later.
So, the whole point of these programs is that you're basically giving Apple a short term loan. They put that money, from you and all the other people who bought one, into various short term investments to try and make some extra money off it, so hopefully by the time they return your money in three months, they will have made several times that much. They also count on people who will forget to fill out the rebate form or fill it out incorrectly. I don't know about Apple, but a lot of times companies who issue rebates use special processing companies. They have X amount of money with which to pay out rebates, and once that money is gone the company files for bankruptcy, is liquidated, and everyone who hasn't had their rebate issues is just stuck holding the bag. Never go in for rebates on big ticket items like TVs. A lot of rebate programs are essentially your basic pyramid scam. The way you should look at rebates, is that it's a nice bonus. You would be willing to pay full price for the item in question, but if you get a rebate that makes it slightly less, even better. However, even if you never get the rebate, you are still fine paying full price. Make a habit of looking at the original price on ads, not the after rebate price.
So don't feel too badly about it. When you start to read the fine print on these things, you find out it's not quite as good a deal as it seems in the marketing blurb.

  • Will i get a free ipod with a macbook purchase

will i get a free ipod with a macbook purchase

Not that I have ever heard. Where did you hear that. Wherever it isn't true. Not unless some store is having some type of special.

  • Will I lose my Calendar and Addresses if I sync my iPod with a new macbook?

I just had to get a new hard disk and want to put my Cal and Addresses back on it. I can find lots of information about transferring my photos and music, but will I lose my Calendar and Addresses if I sync my iPod with a new macbook?

Before you sync, make at least one entry in your computer's Address Book and one iCal event (a fake entry will do). That will generate a "merge" prompt. Otherwise, the empty address book and calendar will overwrite what you have on your iPod.

  • When do I get the rebate for the free ipod with the macbook I bought?

I got the conformation of submitting my rebate on Aug 14th and I still havent gotten my rebate for the free iPod promotion. Anyone know how long this is supposed to take?

Lost rebates take about 8 weeks from submission to be returned. It simply hasn't been enough time.
There is a link to check the rebate status HERE so try that or give Apple a call if you want to follow up on it.

  • If i buy a mackbook pro for college, can i get a free ipod with it?

can i get a free ipod touch if i purchase a mackbook pro for college this summer?

In the past the Apple Store has offered that promotion.  Last year when I purchased my Macbook Pro I was not offered a free iPod.  The Apple Store did run and summer promotion that year for college student; if you purchased a computer through the college portal in the Apple Store you recieved a $100 Appstore gift card, which came quite handy with some apps that cost money.  But personally I would of been happy with an iPod instead.

  • Asking for help with purchase of Macbook Pro

    Hi all,
I am looking to buy a 15" Macbook Pro for my 15-year old daughter.  The configuration I have found is:
    2.4GHz Intel Core i7 Quad-Core
    4GB of DDR3 RAM
    750GB 5400rpm Hard Drive
AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1GB Graphics
    15.4" LED-Backlit Glossy Display
    1400 x 900 Native Resolution
    Slot-Loading SuperDrive
    802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR
    FaceTime HD Camera, Built-in Microphone
May Ship with OS X Lion or Mountain Lion
Obviously for a teenager she will be using it for facetime and the like.  It would also be used for school work and games.  She is not a big gamer, but does like the Sims 3.
My first question is are the specs ok?  And other than the memory, which I plan to upgrade to 8, is ther anything I should look for?  Is 2.4 ghz enough or do I need to get a faster processor?
    Thank you in advance,
    George

It appears that you have selected a refurbished late 2011 MBP.  About three weeks ago I got may late 2011 17" refurbished MBP.  Excellent machine and it is the third refurbished one I have gotten.  I consider that a fiscally prudent approach in purchasing a MBP.
The MBP that you have chosen is a good performer and the addition of RAM is a wise move. I think your daughter should be just fine with this unit.
Mt Lion is new to me and there are several aspects that do not thrill me.  If the MBP is shipped with Lion, do not be in a rush to upgrade but DO get the upgrade code so that if you do decide later to install the new OS, you will not have to pay for it.  Just to be on the safe side, query Apple support if there is a time limit to redeem the code.
    Ciao.

  • Using 3rd Generation 15GB iPod With A New MacBook

I just found a 15GB 3rd generation click wheel iPod at a thrift store. It works - there's a tiny amount of juice left in it, so I can scroll through menus and so forth, but when I connect it to my MacBook 2.1 via the connector cable, something odd happens. I get the "Do Not Remove" symbol and text for a few seconds, then a blank screen, then the Apple logo for about fifteen seconds. The the "Do Not Remove" symbol, then the Apple logo, and so forth, repeating. The iPod hard drive is clicking all the while. And during the whole thing, the iPod isn't recognized by my MacBook - the icon doesn't appear on my hard drive, and it doesn't appear in the latest version of iTunes.
Do I need to be running an older version of iTunes, or have another type of connector cable?

A 3rd gen iPod needs to be connected by FireWire. It will not charge over USB (although it may connect over USB if the battery is fully charged). Therefore, your MacBook must have a FireWire port and you need to use a FireWire docking cable.
However, the clicking sound and the repeated Apple logo cycle may indicate that the iPod's hard drive is faulty.
You do not need an older version of iTunes. My 3G iPod works fine with the latest version of iTunes on my Intel iMac.

  • Free upgrade with recently bought MacBook?

I was wondering, with the new announcements, will there be a free upgrade for people who just bought a mac recently to Mountain Lion? I thought this was the case when Lion came out...

    Hello,
The OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date upgrade will be available at no additional charge from the Mac App Store to all customers who purchase a qualifying new Mac system from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller on or after June 11, 2012.

  • I can't sync my ipod with purchased music on a different computer

I purchased music on a new computer that I have allowed access to for my ipod but now because my library is on my other computer it says this computer is not synced to my ipod so now I can't even sync my purchased music unless I want to erase all of the music on my ipod.  Then if I try to put it back on, all of my songs are on my old computer and it won't let me sync two computers at a time.  Not happy.

  • Free apps with purchased Ipad air with another Apple ID

    Hi
I just got the new ipad air. One from my family logged in with their Apple ID on my ipad before I logged in with mine. Now all the apps (iLife, iWork's etc.) doesn't appear free with my user, but only with that user the logged in to App Store before me.
I have tried to factory reset the ipad, and use my Apple ID when I set it up. But it's still the same; no free apps for me. And as soon as the other Apple ID logs in, all the apple apps starts downloading automatically, and for free
How do I get my Apple ID to link with the free apps?
    Thanks,
    Jonathan

Actually there is likely nothing that you can do since the program is free apps per device and your relative has basically stolen your free apps.

  • Help with Purchasing new Macbook Pro

I have decided on going with the new 17in model. What I am havening problems deciding is if I should get the 5400 or 7200 rpm drive after reading all of the posts here. I was originally going to get the 7200 but am now leaning towards the 5400. Is anyone having good luck with their 7200 drive? So I skip the 7200?

Buy the machine with the standard 500GB 5400RPM drive, and if you want a 7200RPM drive, order one yourself from an online vendor. You'll get a longer warranty on it than Apple would give you, and for only $30-40 more than the 7200 RPM drive from Apple, you'll have two 500GB drives: the 7200 RPM that you'll install internally (a ten-minute job for which the instructions are in your MBP's manual), and the 5400 RPM standard drive for use as an external backup.
