Free iweb templates

Hi All,
Just wanted to let everyone know that in this month's iCreate magazine there was a nice contribution from lamiavia.com. They included for free their venezia and ferrara iweb templates. I highly recommend this magazine for anyone using ilife.

I have only purchased the past 3 copies and I love it! Goes through ilife and pro apps. This new mag issue 35 has tons of free apps and great tutorials. So tell me why I was a windows user for all of those years? How is the slideshow coming along?

Installing Iweb templates

Hi,
I have Iweb on an Apple Ibook G4 1.33Ghz 512MB RAM laptop. It came with ILife installed and I'm guessing it's version 6. Can anyone please guide me as to how to install the Iweb templates please?

You guessed wrong. The latest version is 3.0.4
You can see it in the iWeb menu > About iWeb. Or select iWeb and do Command-I (Info).
The iWeb themes are stored inside iWeb. To go there, copy the line below :
/Applications/iWeb.app/Contents/Resources/Themes/
In the Finder, do Command-Shift-G and paste the line. Hit Return.
Right-click any theme and choose Show Package content. Open the Shared folder.

Hello,
I am curious as to if anyone knows where I could find some more good iWeb templates, whether there free or not. Just looking for a more professional but simple template to use for a site that I am working on. If anyon ehas any ideas, please let me know. I would prefer not to spend too much on a theme or templete I dont have to.

I got tired of looking for free templates as what I found were pretty weak. I went ahead and bought the iWeb Suite from http://ipresentee.com/iPresentee/iPresentee-_iWebSuite.html
They have smaller sets that sell for $25 and individual templates go for $10. The Suite is everything they have for $60 and it also included a bunch of iWeb animations, and some files for Keynote (which I don't use, but I'll take alook).

By Template, are you looking for DW Template.dwt files?

For starter pages in DW, go to File > New > Blank page > HTML.
Select a layout from the 3rd panel and hit Create button.

The cool little features in iWeb templates

Hi all,
I was just wondering how to get the cool little add-ons that the iWeb templates have on my site?
For example, iWeb has scissors on one of the sites. Their are also others like.. doodles, post its, "hello, my name is" I know I can simply cut and paste, but I'm looking for additional add ons. is there a stock pile of these somewhere on the web or maybe on my mac?

You can add scrolling banner text, blinking text, mouse rollover, Fancy Zoom, Show and Hide text and many other enhancements.

1. To publish to .Mac just mount your iDisk and go to Web/Sites/ and you will see your old site there. Delete that site and just copy your new site to the location.
2. Just press the load from iDisk button in the toolbar and enter your username and password. Your sites from your iDisk will load in iWeb SEO Tool.

You can also hide the default navigation and build your own which allows more freedom of design and is better for search engine optimization...

Can iWeb templates be modified?

I last used iWeb to set up a travelogue in 2006. I have 3.0.4 ('09, I think).
I may be remembering why I didn't use a template before--because I wanted something I couldn't get with the templates.
Am I correct that I can't change a background or text color, or choose to center text which is flush left on an iWeb template?

Jeff, you're a prince. I've printed out your last posts & dragged & dropped the 2 samples to my desktop, from which I can then use them I was able to do the web browser background instructions. It worked! Cool.
I'm sure this will turn out to be embarrassingly self-evident, but how did you 'copy the page background image and paste it into preview'? It has no 'handles' allowing it to be selected. Nor could I locate 'Preview'.
Now trying the paper maneuver you explained, I'm a bit stuck. What do I select for 'Page Background? I now have removed the Formal Theme text boxes, have changed footer pixels to '0', and have a horizontal rectangle of the ivory paper there. How do I make it disappear so I can then replace it with the size-able box as you describe?
By the way, I noticed right off in your video was how you changed the width of the page immediately. How did you choose 900--and I forget the vertical pixels you chose but will check again. I hate how small the page content size is. Is there a 'standard' size these days for website width & height?

Free Dreamweaver templates related to photography (fullscreen) see 2 example websites?

Hi,
I'm a photographer and I downloaded some Dreamweaver template packs but they are all related to usual corporates, pity enough nothing related to photography.
Can anyone recommend templates or a template pack (freeware) related to photography?

I have the pictures but not the templates....

WordPress is a dynamic site. It needs PHP and a connection to a MySql database to run. Unless you have a local testing server (WAMP or XAMPP) installed on your computer, you won't see local content in your browser.
WordPress consists of 800+ files in 80+ folders. Strangely enough, none of those files are complete pages. They are all just bits of code which the web server assembles and combines with content from the database. In short, there are no real web pages. WordPress is a virtual site; basically a one page site that is created on the fly by the web server. This is a difficult concept for people who are accustomed to working with static HTML pages.
Unless you're a skilled coder, you must not edit the WordPress core files in DW or you will break the site. The only things you can safely edit in Code View are the Theme files:
WP/wp-content/themes/theme_name/page.php
WP/wp-content/themes/theme_name/header.php
WP/wp-content/themes/theme_name/index.php
WP/wp-content/themes/theme_name/footer.php
etc...

If you're not experienced with code, don't waste time trying to modify your WP theme in DW. Simply install WP on your server and have a go at it...
InMotion and other reputable web hosts have apps to simplify WordPress installation. You can invoke the install wizard by logging in to your server's C-Panel and pressing a button.

Lost iWeb Template

My iWeb template for my website seems to have disappeared. I have searched high and low within this iMac to find it but cannot. I enjoy posting to my site and would like to continue to do so. Can you help me find my template or suggest other ideas?

When you launch iWeb do you get your web site? If not what do you get? If you do see your web site then the domain file has to be somewhere on your hard drive.
If you don't get your web site in iWeb and can't find the domain file that contains it you'll have to recreate your site from scratch. Read Paragraph 2.3 of this iWeb FAQ site for tips on recreating the site from scratch with some of the file from the online site: http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWebBackupretrieve.html
To help recover from a a similar incident in the future you should consider instigating a backup strategy. I've created an Automator script to copy the domain file to the Documents folder. It can be used after every session in iWeb so you have a current copy. Download it from Toad's Cellar.

Free Form Template and Combining Chart Values during Runtim

Hi Guys,
Need your expertise on this. We received some unreasonable request for the following:
1. Free Form Template DURING Runtime
- moving charts from one place to another by dragging them from one place to another during runtime
2. Combining of Chart values during Runtime
-to be able to mash-up 2 different charts during runtime. For example, dragging a chart to another chart
would result to a combined-value of chart. For instance, you have a Sales Chart and a Production Chart,
if and when Sales Chart is dragged and placed on top of Production Chart then it would mash-up the values
and will produce only one chart.
Is this even possible?

1. Free form template is not possible with current version of Dashboard Designer. You may use the option of Dynamic Visibility to simulate this. But this might not serve your requirement 100 %.
2. Your requirement of mixing up chart just by dragging and droping on another is coming under Designing part. For designing we need software, in my point of view. Xcelsius is a Tool to generate required output in various formats. Here we need to finalise the output such as chart type/ data to be displayed/ format to be displayed, etc and while viewing we may play with data but not with objects other than dynamic visibility.

Where can I find free website templates to use in Muse?

The best quality templates are on themeforest for around $18. This is the only serious attempt I've seen at making professional Muse templates. But it's really good to see Muse taken seriously by a big template website. There are some others doing great work too like muse-grid. Stylishmusetemplates has the best free templates I've seen so far.
I see so much potential for new Muse designers in this area I'm working on my own site Musefreetemplates. If any budding Muse developers want to contribute I'm all ears.
Muse may seem easy at first but the design process is still very involved if you want a pro look. Good templates can help.
