I am a java developer and developing a help portal for java developers.
i want to know, is there any free java web hosting is available? that provide support for java based web projects
like it has
Tomcat
SQL/My SQL server
command shall -- to deploy the project -- or some other way to deploy the projects
FTP support
-- Email facility would be a gift if available .....
if any one of you know such site ..... please guide me .....

I am Indie Game Developer and have just developed my first game. It is in Java and is a client - server based game.
I need to buy a good but affordable Java Web Hosting Plan but I could not find much to my liking. I don't need too much space (like 5GB), a couple of hundred MB's would be fine.
Does anybody know about an affordable, good Java Web Hosting service? Please let me know if you know.

Thank, for replying. I think the couple of hundred MB's I've mentioned is too much. I have searched the internet for more Java web hosting services.
It seems Java web hosting is costlier than the normal web hosting services. So I have to separate the company website from the game server site.
Let's see what comes up in my search. If someone has any suggestion about a web hosting service with java support, if they have used it, then please let me know.

You know Oracle is wickedly expensive, right? Expect a yearly license fee of 5000 or even 80000 dollars just to be allowed to use it for commercial purposes, price depending on what you're going to do with it and on what kind of hardware it is going to run on.
Other than that: nobody can recommend you where you should be throwing your money at. Perform research yourself and if you're stuck choosing between different options provide them here and perhaps someone will have an opinion on it (likely not though).

Free hosts are hard to find. Free JSP hosts are even harder to find. Java processes consume a lot of resources (mostly memory).
Perhaps you could find a small group of friends willing to share the cost of a virtual private server account? If its for learning purposes, perhaps your employer may chip in.

Can you tell if I am able to host Web Services with any hosting company that supports Java. Or is there any special requirement on the behalf of the hosting companies to support Web Services written in Java

Nomally the Web Service is big different between Web application. or you can build your Web service structure like web application structure. It depends on the web server:
If the Web Server of hosting company has WEB Service framework, you just need know how to deploy your Web service to Web Service framework and How to deploy to Web Server. In this case, you need deploy it two time, one is for Web Server framework and one is for Web Service framework
If the Web Server of hosting company doesn't has WEB Service framework, you need build your own Web Service framework into a web application, then you just need know how to deploy your web application with Web service into Web Server framework

Free web hosting?

Hi everyone - I have read several of the help pages and searched all over for information on free space with BT and can't find a thing to help me. Some of you say it is free but I don't know how to access it. I have followed links and have been told that it is no longer free and it then directs me to the £5 a month using BT's web design software. We moved from Tiscali and I had a web site set up with the free space provided by them. Now I have a domain name and web pages but no where to send them. I don't want to have to pay or to re-create the pages - life is too short. We have phone and broadband with BT - can anyone advise? Gloryb

My link doesn't do that ! To be frank, my page is probably the best place for details about BTinternet webspace and how to get at it. Make sure you've gone to option 10 of my shortcuts.
BTinternet webspace doesn't support Front Page extensions (if you were using any), but basic hosting is fine.
All you need to do is alter the forwarding to BTinternet webspace, much like you do now to the Tiscali webspace. Obviously, you need to build your site onto btinternet webspace first
