Free license and isolation groups

Hello,
We have just installed CPS in our Solution Manager 7.1. The CPS release is Build: M28.17-35130.
The license keys - free -  are:
CPS-Basic ProcessServerService.SAP.ApplicationsAPI true
CPS-Basic ProcessServerService.SAP.SolutionManager true
CPS-Basic ProcessServerService.SAP.XBPExternal true
CPS-Basic ProcessServerService.SAP.limit 0
CPS-Basic System.NamedUsers.limit 10
CPS-Basic System.Production true
CPS-Basic company.contract CPS-Basic
CPS-Basic company.name xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
CPS-Basic product.name SAP Central Process Scheduling by Redwood
CPS-Basic signature 3
CPS-Basic system.id SAP:SOL_00
I have read in the Administratio guide and in other posts that in the free license i cannot define more that one sap system client per isolation group, but I have the doubt of how can I monitor more than one sap system or even more that one client in the same sap system?
Thanks and best regards,
Ana.

Hello Ana,
you can monitor SAP CPS jobs across Isolation Groups from your SAP Solution Manager. That's a special feature of the SAP CPS integration into SAP Solution Manager.
Just import your (Solution Manager) user into all relevant isolation groups (same user name in SolMan and SAP CPS) and then run job filters or custom queries from the Job Management Work Center.
See the second part of my blog /people/martin.lauer/blog/2009/05/28/monitoring-job-chains-with-sap-cps-by-redwood-and-sap-solution-manager for more information how to call CPS filter and customer queries from the Job Management Work Center.
As a prerequisite you will have to setup the connectivity between SAP CPS and SolMan. See the following notes: 1122497, 1054005, 1129030, 1037903.
If you have any issues in setting up this scenario, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards,
Martin

  • SAP Systems and Isolation Groups

    Dear experts
We started to configure RW with free-of-charge license. So SAP system were created under Isolation Groups.
When Full license was activated, only GLOBAL Isolation Group is available for all configurations.
But we cannot see all SAP systems, created in named IG before. How can we move or objects, created in named IS when logging on to IS GLOBAL?
    Regards
    Vladimir Kogan

    Hello Vladimir,
Isolation groups are not available by default in the full version of CPS.
If you wish to move all objects to the GLOBAL isolation then you can do this by running the job named System_Isolation_Deisolation. Be sure that this is what you wish to do before you run the System_Isolation_Deisolation job because once run it is NOT reversible.

  • Remove/Delete a Partition and Isolation group in Redwood CPS

    Hi,
I just setup a test CPS environment using our Solution Manager Java stack.
I created an isolation group and Partition to play around and figure out how to add systems.
Now I would like to delete this partition and the Isolation group that it is connected to.
When I right click on the Isolation group and choose delete I get this error:
JCS-102201: Partition ERP is used by Removed Job Definition 1,164,681
JCS-102201: Partition ERP is used by Removed Job Definition 1,165,959
JCS-102201: Partition ERP is used by Removed Job Definition 1,166,039
JCS-102201: Partition ERP is used by Removed Job Definition 1,166,119
When I click on Show error Details I get this:
JCS-122035: Unable to persist: JCS-MULTI: Modification vetoed: JCS-102201: Partition ERP is used by <removed Job Definition 1164681>
I removed all the job chains that I had created for it and I do not know where to go from here.
Thank you in advance for your help!
    Neil

    Hi Anton,
I tried waiting for awhile and it still kept giving me the same error.  I decided to double check the job definitions and found out that I had missed a couple.
Once I deleted all the job definitions that I had imported from our sandbox system I was able to delete the partition but not the Isolation group.  I was getting an error saying that the isolation group was part of some Operator messages.  So I painstakingly went through and deleted all the operator messages while logged into that isolation group. After that was done, I was finally able to get the Isolation group deleted.
Is there an easy way to clear all the operator messages?
    Thank you,
    Neil

  • Strange license issue while creating new isolation group

    Dear all,
we just installed CPS M28.20-37214 on NW 7.0 SP 21.
Now I want to create an isolation group and get following error:
    *10:30:27 AM: JCS-122045: Unlicensed feature: ProcessServerService.SAP.limit     *
    Error details:
JCS-122035: Unable to persist: JCS-102081: License does not permit this modification for Isolation Group-object: Isolation Group
And this is our free-of-charge license:
    CPS-Basic     ProcessServerService.SAP.ApplicationsAPI     true
    CPS-Basic     ProcessServerService.SAP.SolutionManager     true
    CPS-Basic     ProcessServerService.SAP.XBPExternal     true
    CPS-Basic     ProcessServerService.SAP.limit     0
    CPS-Basic     System.NamedUsers.limit     10
    CPS-Basic     System.Production     true
    CPS-Basic     company.contract     CPS-Basic
    CPS-Basic     company.name     xxxxxxxx
CPS-Basic     product.name     SAP Central Process Scheduling by Redwood
    CPS-Basic     signature     3
    CPS-Basic     system.id     SAP:xxxx
This seems to be really strange 'cause I obligatory need a new isolation group to go on with configuration.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Alex

    Dear Adrienne,
I replaced the real system name and id with xxxx, just for security purposes.
All roles have been created and should work fine.
In the meantime I could isolate the problem: there is obviously a license issue when you have more than a main instance running.
Tomorrow a workshop is on with Redwood in Sinsheim, Germany. I hope to get some hints.
    Best regards,
    Alex

  • Free goods and order types

    Hello,
    1) If company is providing free goods, then will it be associated for order type or with pricing condition.
for e.g. On purchase of 100 qty. if 10% foods are free, then how is this associated.
    2) Also if i want to provide free goods only for a particular customer group, lets say wholesale, then how will it be associated
with pricing conditions and order type.
    Regards

    Hi,
    There are two cases:-
1.Ur company is providing free goods as a sample.
2.If some customer buys some quantity of product u provide some free goods with it.
    1st Case:-
if u want goods to b send as a free sample then u can directly use TANN item category with doc type or .
    2nd Case :
Free goods is something that the customer is given after he buys certain quantity of the product/material.
Free goods is a strategy to increase sales volume by luring the customer that if he buys 10 products one will be absolutely free.
Free Goods:Goods that are given as additional goods as part of the ordered goods are called as free goods. Here the unit of measure of free goods should be the same as standard goods.
Example:If you are are ordering 10 maggi sauce bottle you will be paying for only 8 bottles 2 is given as freegoods.
price will not be reflected in pricing or billing.this is inclusive freegoods
    Exclusive freegoods.
wherein the freegoods are given as additional good to that of the ordered goods
Example:For 4 coffee vending machine 1 kg coffee powder isgive as free goods
Sample goods:these are the goods which are given as pert of the promotional activity to increase the sales.
here the customer is not paying money.
Free goods - In SAP there are two types Exclusive and Inclusive.
Exclusive - Buy 2 and get 1 free. This means you have to buy minimum 2 pieces then on that you will get 1 piece absolutely free.
Inclusive - Buy 2 get 1 free. In this case it means you are paying for only 1 item and the other item is absolutely free.
    Configuration:
IMG - Sales & Distribution - Basic Functions - Free Goods - condition technique for free goods -
    1. create the condition table(Take one field as customer group also if u want to provide free goods only for a particular customer group).
    2. maintain access sequence and assign the condition table to the access sequence.
    3. maintain condition type and assign the access sequence to the condition type.
    4. maintain the procedure for free goods and assign the condition type to the free goods procedure.
    5. Activate free goods determination. In this enter sales org., dis channel, division , docu pri pro, cust pri pro and the free goods procedure.
    6. now go to VBN1 - create free goods determination. Select your condition type, key combination and enter. Here you enter sales org, dis channel, customer no., Valid from and Valid to dates. Then you first select whether it is exclusive or inclusive free goods determination. By default it will be inclusive if you click on exclusive it will become exclusive and on top it will display inclusive. Here you enter minimum quantity for free goods and from what order quantity the number of free goods. You can control the delivery also in the second last column(free goods delivery control).
Save the record. Go to VA01 create the sales order , enter the item and the minimum quantity for free goods .
    Thanks & Regards,
    Deepaks

  • Difference between Free goods and BOM (ERLA)

    Hi,
Could any body throw some light on the Difference between Free goods and BOM(ERLA) to clarify my weired thought.
AS of what i know is Free goods is 1:1 ratio.
The main item will be prices and sub item will be free .
Than same thing is also With BOM (ERLA)
    Regards,
    Venksys

    Hi Venksys
Please note as given below :
Free Goods : This function allows you to offer your customers a product free of charge in the form of free goods when a certain quantity of products is ordered. Free goods is a kind of quantity discount, and is granted in the form of a goods delivery that is free of charge when a certain quantity is purchased. There are Two types of free goods :
1.Inclusive : The customer only pays for part of the goods ordered. The rest of the products are provided at no extra cost. For example, a customer orders  for 3 bottels but pays for 2 bottels  and 1 is supplied free .
2.Exclusive - The customer pays for the goods ordered, and also receives additional products for free. The materials delivered as free goods will not be the same as that of ordered onces. For examples customer orders 5 bottels , but will receive 1 Bottle opener free.
BOM : It consists  of 2 or more items combined and sold as an package : Example : Combination of 1 Tooth paste  + 1 tooth brush  packed as BOM.
The Higher level Material ( BOM) is  not relevant for pricing but relevant for picking : The tooth paste and brush is relevant for pricing  and also can be sold independently : The Item cat group of the Header BOM material will be ERLA  and for Tooth paste and brush material the Item category group will have TAN.

  • Freelist and freelist groups

    Hi,
I was reading about buffer busy waits (based on oracle 10g), and i came across two terms i was unfamiliar about... freelist and freelist groups . Can somebody explain the meaning of these two terms and how it is related to objects ?? I am more interested in single instance database and not about RAC..
Is this relevant to current version of oracle database(11g) as well???
    Thanks in advance.

Freelist is a part of the object and are maintained to define the candidate blocks which are available for the DMLs. The parameters PCTUSED, PCTFREE are going to be making the blocks go in and out of the freelist. Its a linked list whose starting point is the segment header block and that's what is the cause of the issue is what you have mentioned, buffer busy wait. Buffer busy wait is just a cummulative wait event and does have many of the reasons. What is going to be caused by the freelist is going to be the buffer busy wait for the segment header. Since the segment header is going to be pinned each and every time the scan for the free list is requested, its going to come under contention under a very heavy OLTP enviroment. That's why Oracle introduced, in 9i, ASSM which is Automatic Segment Space Management, a more optimized, bitmap based functionality , which removes the use of freelist altogether* . So even in 11g, the concept remains if you want to make the segment space management manual.
I would not suggest you to read that link which you have quoted but would suggest to read this MOS note,
MOS doc id 157250.1, "Freelist Management with Oracle 8i" by Stephan Haisley .
I don't think freelist are explained anywhere better than what is there in the above document. Please note, you need to have valid CSI to login to MOS.
    HTH
    Aman....
    * ASSM is not really a very nice thing actually but that is another topic to discuss so let's leave it for the moment.

  • Ecc 6.0 on completely free os and db

hi, can sap ecc 6.0 be installed on a completely free OS and db.  it seems like the only supported versions of linux are suse and redhat, which both cost money.
could it be installed, but just not supported on something like ubuntu?
this is for a sandbox only type system, w/trial versions of sap, so no support from sap required.
for db, would sap maxdb be the way to go?
    thank you.

    > hi, can sap ecc 6.0 be installed on a completely free OS and db.  it seems like the only supported versions of linux are suse and redhat, which both cost money.
You can use CentOS, it's a "Redhat clone" and use the same sources as Redhat. Just the RedHat branding is removed but apart from that it's identical. I did a few (test) installations before and it works.
    > could it be installed, but just not supported on something like ubuntu?
Technically it may be possible, however, SAP is an enterprise system and the costs for the OS compared to implementation costs are marginal.
    > this is for a sandbox only type system, w/trial versions of sap, so no support from sap required.
    Try CentOS.
    > for db, would sap maxdb be the way to go?
Even if you need "no support" you have to license the database, no matter which one you use. MaxDB may be the "cheapest" alternative compared to all other databases.

  • 'transport' applications from QA to Production - isolation group error

    Hi,
I have a QA isolation group connected to my QA ECC system in which I created job definitions and chains and assigned all of it to my Custom application group. I exported this by right clicking on Custom and 'Export tree..' to a *.CAR file.
I now try and import the same *.CAR file into my Prod isolation group connected to my Prod ECC system. I get the error:
Import failed, no objects have been imported: JCS-102242: Object cannot be persisted to an isolation group other than the active one.
Why is this? How can I 'transport' my QA config to my Prod config?
    Thanks,
    Adriaan

For anyone interested: you have to run a merge isolation groups CPS system job to get rid of the isolation groups after you installed a full license
