Free live XML feed resources.

Anyone know of any URLs that contain frequently-updated XML (or other format) data? Not really too bothered what the subject is, though scientific would be nice. For practice purposes I'm thinking about writing an application that presents this data in a dynamic JTable or something, and just seeing where it takes me, but I'm having difficulty finding some decent source information.

I tried finance.yahoo.com for stock. I prepared a sample file in which I used 'trace' to see the response. However I can't see any XML data.
I have attached both .fla and .swf files. Could you please check did I miss anything in the actionscript part?

Tutorial needed: Nivo Slider powered by Photo Gallery XML feed

I'm in need of some help. I've setup my Photo Gallery, generated the xml feed. I went to the Nivo slider site, but don't see instructions of how to make it read the xml file.

So this is the information that I'm using which leads me to believe I can use the xml feed to populate the slider.

I updated to ff8, my "live bookmark feed failed to load" now. It was working perfectly fine when I had ff7. Is it a bug in ff8? Should I revert back to ff7?

Try to remove the current Latest Headlines feed or the feed that gives the problem and create a new feed by visiting the feed location of that feed.

EVERY SINGLE RSS FEED displays "Live Bookmark Feed Failed to Load" and then THEY LOAD...

Every single time I add an RSS feed as a live bookmark and view it, the top of the feed list displays a "Live Bookmark Feed Failed to Load" error... Followed by all of the NEWEST entries in that RSS feed.
So why the hell is it saying they failed to load every single time I open a live bookmark when they are actually loading?
I have deleted my live bookmarks and re-added them only to get the same error.
It makes me sad that my favorite web browser is going down the toilet. Won't be more than a month or two before you get taken down by Chrome according to general web trends... Give it a year and if you don't fix all the broken crap in FireFox it will end up as the "NEW IE6" in a year or two...
I love how the top dog in any category of business goes down the toilet as soon as the idiot board and bureaucrats get involved.

Handling an XML Feed in CFML?

I'm unfamiliar with CFML, but I need to try to create a
script to take an XML feed from another server and display the
contents of the file as HTML. We have an existing PHP script which
does this for most of the sites we deal with but we now have to do
the same for a site with a ColdFusion server.
This is the existing PHP script we have (The highlighted bits
are fields which vary from page to page):

You will probably want to use CFHTTP. Documentation on this

The XML feed will be found in the variable CFHTTP.FileContent after
the CFHTTP is executed.

Live broadcast feed on byu.tv does not work--I signed in, but there is no video nor audio feed.

During all five Sundays during last month, January of 2011, the live broadcast feed, during the live broadcast of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's weekly program of "Music and the Spoken Word" from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Mountain Standard Time--both streaming video and audio--after my signing in to byu.tv's live broadcast site, worked. Starting the first Sunday of February, 2011, which was February 7th, however, and SINCE then, I have not been able to get their live broadcast feed to work, nor at the time of the Tabernacle Choir's live weekly broadcast, nor at any other time.

Try to clear the Flash cookies and settings.

Why do i get a BOBJ prompt in xcelsius with my live office feed

dear all,
the situation ...
i have an excel document, with a live office feed. the data feed is assigned a specific user from the sap ecc backend system. i have this excel live office saved locally on my c drive. i can open it up, and hit the refresh button without any need to log on.
my question
why is it then, when i add this live office feed to my xcelsius dashboard, do the live office steps in xcelsius, and when i do a preview, it only wants me to authenticate myself, and pops up a prompt.
i would have thought, there would be no need !

i realize to refresh a LiveOffice connection, from Excel or Xcelsius,,, you have to enter your user name and password.
and i also understand that, if you're not being asked for an authentication from the excel when you refresh the LiveOffice, that means your Credentials are saved into the excel itself, i mean into the "Application Options"
BUT,
when i use the same LO document inside xcelsius, it prompts me. note, i am not talking about enterprise here. nothing is saved on the BOBJ server side, it is all local to my c drive.
so in summary, when the live office is outside xcelsius, i can open, refresh and because the logon parameters are in the application options, i get the authentication hour glass, but with no prompt, and eventually i get my data.
however, when i add this to an xcelsius dashboard, and do a preview, i get an authentication prompt !! why ??

Parameter is not working in HTTP( XML FEED) dataset in bi publisher 11g

Hi,
I have used parameter in BI Publisher 10g for HTTP(XML Feed) dataset to have dynamic url which worked by using ${p_url} where p_url is the parameter.
The same procedure when I use in BI Publisher 11g is not working.It does not consider the parameter ${p_url} and throws the following exception
*oracle.xdo.dataengine.datasource.plugin.DataAccessException: java.lang.Exception: java.net.MalformedURLException: no protocol: ${p_url}*
Has anyone faced this issue?
Please let me know if am doing something incorrect here.

In BI Publisher 10 g we are using it this way ${p_url}.
p_url is the parameter which gives us the entire URL for the XML feed.
e.g. p_url=http://rss.news.yahoo.com/rss/topstories
The p_url takes the entire url.
Please let me know if this can be done the same way in 11g.

How do I display a live webpage (live data feed) as part of my looping flash movie.

G'Day All, I've been tasked with creating a flash movie for a client (3 scenes, some text and images) simple enough, the challenge is one of the scenes needs to display a live page from a locally hosted website (it's a graphic display of a live data feed from a solar panel array on the roof). What I need to know is how do I set up the flash file to display the live page as one of the scenes of my looping movie? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Ben.

Is there a way to use Illustrator to draw over a live video feed coming from my microscope?

Hi, we use illustrator to draw (trace) over static images of mite specimens taken under a microscope. Although this works, it would be much better to be able to draw directly from the live video feed coming from my microscope. The specimens are dead, so they are not moving around, however, we need to focus down through the specimen in order to see all details. We normally take montage images, but because the specimens are clear there are many artifacts present and we frequently have to consult the specimen under the microscope to double check things. My students and I have hundreds of drawings to complete and are looking for a way to streamline the process. If we could avoid making montage images and draw direct from the video feed, it would revolutionize the way we approach our research. Is there a way to display the video feed and then overlay Illustrator so that we can directly trace over the image (we use a Wacom tablet, but that shouldn't make a difference) so we can focus at different levels and draw the entire organism?

Maybe it's possible to have live video in Illustrator, but you would most certainly need to write your own plugin.

Live Bookmark Feed failed to load. I cannot view any footage on BBC News site. Also I can no longer view images I have uploaded to a website. This has all materialised overnight. Please help.

I have been uploading pictures of booksd to ABE.com for ages. I am able to view these images on the site. Today, without warning, I am unable to do this. Coincidentally, I note that I can no longer view film footage on the BBC news pages. The Latest Headlines column is also showing "Live Bookmark Feed failed to load". Please help.

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.
*Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
*Check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically
*Check the exceptions in "Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions"
*Check the "Tools > Page Info > Media" tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images with the cursor Down key).
If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
Make sure that you do not block third-party images permissions.default.images

There are also extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images.
Try to remove the current Latest Headlines feed and create a new feed.<br />

I don;t find logviewer option under Tools of Java developer role.
I am rightnow logged in to server via remote server desktop...checking for the logfiles.

Using FCP for live video feed

Hi,
I'm currently shooting with the new HVX200 Panasonic camera. We're using a small, 7" hand-held HD monitor to use for focus-pulling, but I'd like to be able to use a computer monitor or laptop for a live video feed. (director's monitor)
We've considered using the component-out to go into a Component-VGA adapter for a computer monitor, but I'm wondering if we can do a direct feed using FireWire into FCP or something.
Anyone have any experience doing a computer-monitor setup for use with these kinds of cameras?

hey there RI,
if you've tried something similar on your iMac & had no problems it's reasonable to think/believe it will work on your MBP, w/ this caveat: the 400 & 800 ports are actually on the same buss, so the 800 port will handle it's data at the lower(400) rate if there is a device on each port. shouldn't affect any editing w/ the drive once the cam is removed from the MBP. it should the run @ the higher rate.
