(free) Microsoft Project viewer

Hi, I wonder is there any free Microsoft Project .mpp viewer on OS X? I just need a free viewer and not the full blown project management software. I have installed Microsoft Project running on Parallels but I have to start the whole Windows before I can take a quick look on the updated project plan. And the Microsoft Office for Mac does not include Project. I wouldn't want to spend more money just for a viewer. Thanks.

Thank you all for the answers.
I try using Quick View but its not able to view mpp files, it does view .doc, .xls and .ppt. I suppose that's because there's Microsoft office word, excel and powerpoint for Mac but not project.
I'll use my Microsoft Project in Parallels instead.

    My name is Dawn,
I have repeatedly downloaded Microsoft Project free trial it downloads and when I go to my files to open it, it says "Sorry there was a problem Mounting the file" "Couldn't Mount File"  How do I fix this so I can access the free
Microsoft Project for my college class.

Before I attempted to install my copy of Microsoft Project 2013, I downloaded and installed the free application called 7-Zip.  Then I used 7-Zip to unzip the contents of the IMG file, where I could find the installation EXE file and install the software.
I do not work for 7-Zip or have any financial interest in the company.  It simply helps me to deal with IMG files without needing to burn an installation CD or DVD.  Hope this helps.

There was some trouble with the download of the free 60 day trial of Microsoft Project Professional.  Started with  64 bit but the computer needed 32 bit.   To activate the product it will not accept my Microsoft account sign

  • Acrobat 8 Standard crashes when opening PDFs created from  Microsoft Project 2007

Issue: Acrobat 8 Standard crashes when opening PDFs created from Microsoft Project 2007.
    OS: Win XP Pro SP3
    Error Message(s): None
Details: This issue happens with multiple Microsoft Project files (including new files), multiple PDF creators (included Acrobat 8 Standard) and on multiple computers. We also tried opening the PDFs in Adobe Reader 8 instead of Acrobat Standard 8. There is no record in the event log on the computers of the application crashes.

I may have a resolution now...
I clicked Tools -> Options -> View and turned off Bars and shapes in Gantt views in 3-D" on the advice of someone on a Microsoft Forum. I made three PDFs from three Microsoft Project files (that were having trouble previously) and was not able to get these PDFs to crash when zooming or changing pages. So far so good!

  • Is Microsoft Project 2010 available for Mac?

There is no Microsoft Project for Mac. You could install Windows on your iMac then install and use Project in Windows.

  • Configuration process (after installation) of Microsoft Project Professionnal 2010 fails

On Windows Vista Business 32 (English, SP1), I downloaded en_project_professional_2010_x86_515560.exe from MSDN and installed it.  The installation process completed successfully and asked to reboot my computer.  After rebooting, I start Microsoft
Project 2010 from the start menu and it starts an initial configuration process which goes into a repeating loop 3 times and fails.  Here are the details (when starting Project 2010):
    1. Microsoft Project Professionnal 2010 popup: Configuration Progress splash screen with progress bar and yellow wave at bottom.
    2. Microsoft Office Project MUI (English) 2010 popup: Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office Project MUI (English) 2010, then disappears.
    3. Microsoft Project 2010 logo popup with green wave at bottom.
    4. Steps 1-3 repeated 3 times.
    5. Microsoft Project popup: There is not enough memory to complete the operation.  To free up available memory, close programs, projects, or windows you aren't using, and try again.
I suspect this is a false error message because all my applications are closed and I have over 1GB of free memory.
    If I retry:
    - Microsoft Project popup: Project failed to start correctly last time.  Starting Project in safe mode will help you correct or isolate a startup problem in order to successfully start the program.  Sme functionnality may be disabled in this mode.
Do you want to start Project in safe mode?
I click Yes, but the same sequence of popup occurs and it fails with the same error message.
I then installed Microsoft Office Project 2007, as a work-around.  But starting Project 2007 gives identical results, except with 2007 popups instead of 2010 popups.
I called Microsoft Technical Support for a case, but they suggested I try posting my question to this forum first.
    Thanks for any assistance.

    Hi all,
To my experience, this kind of problems is typically caused by a conflict with another software component. That is why a reformat and re-install will most likely fix the problem. In most cases this is caused by the virusscanner or firewall.
For those of you who cannot or do not want to reformat and reinstall everything (which I can understand), find below some steps to troubleshoot the issue and find the conflicting piece of software:
Make sure your computer is up-to-date with all service packs and updates for Windows, Office, Project, Internet Explorer, ...
If this doesn't fix your problem:
Go into add/remove programs, select your office version and do a repair
Into add/remove programs, do a repair of Microsoft Project (or uninstall and reinstall)
If this doesn't fix your problem:
Try to run Microsoft Project with different compatibility settings (e.g. Windows XP SP3). Make sure to reset the compatibility setting after performing your tests!
If this doesn't fix your problem:
Perform a full system scan for viruses and other malware
Remove any malware/virus that has been found
If this doesn't fix your problem:
Disable all 3rd party security products (virusscanner, firewall, anti spyware, ...). If you don't feel comfortable leaving your computer unprotected while being online, simply disconnect your pc from the internet (unplug the cable).
If this doesn't fix your problem:
Uninstall all 3rd party security products (virusscanner, firewall, anti spyware, ...). (Yes, this is different from disabling it as some programs have anti-shutdown protection and still have low-level protection even when disabled).
If this still doesn't fix your problem:
Restart your computer in safe mode and try to open Microsoft Project.
If this still doesn't fix your problem:
See if you have a similar computer available with Project installed that doesn't has this issue. Compare the software installed on both computers and remove the software on the computer having the issue one-by-one to try to find the conflicting software.
And if the problem still exists, please report back onto the forum with detailed information about the problem (version of Windows, Office and Project + Service Pack level), exact error messages you receive and steps you have taken to try to troubleshoot
    the issue.
Also keep in mind that these forums are not an official Microsoft support channel, so if none of the above fixed the problem, you might want to open a case with Microsoft Support to have them look into the problem.
    I hope this helps,
    Hans

  • Task Notes in Project Views in PWA

    Hi,
is there any way to show all Task Notes in Project Views in PWA?
    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hi,
I'm aware of this. My questions was to get the full Task Notes. Multiple Lines.
    How to achieve this?
    Thanks,

    Hi Peter,
Task Note data is stored as an Image Data Type in the SQL database. As a work around, You may create a report using the below article:

  • Microsoft Project on VMware Fusion on MacBook Air (13 inch, 2012)

    Hi there,
I am thinking about buying one of the latest 13 inch MacBook Air's. My business is primarily Windows based but all software and systems our company currently uses will all work with Mac except Microsoft Project 2010. I've heard that with the new VMware Fusion 5 (the industry standard) it is possible to run Windows apps as if they are a native Mac application including launching from the dock and compatibility with mission control - you effectively bypass the Windows operating system. However I need to be assured that I will not have any crashes or performance compromises as a result of running Project like so. Does anyone have any experience with the issue of Project? As an alternative I am considering Merlin as it seems pretty fully featured and supports importing and exporting of Project files (*.mpx), but I can't get it free..........
    Cheers,
    Sam

It's software.  Software crashes and has bugs.  You will get no assurance from anyone.

  • Microsoft Help Viewer with VS2015

I have been experimenting with the "F1 Support" feature of the "Microsoft Help Viewer SDK."  My first attempts went very well.  Simply by
setting the "VendorContent" registry key and adding my namespace to the "Partner" registry key, I was able to use F1 and redirect help for all my interfaces, structs, enums etc to my website.  With a bit of PHP work on my website to
parse the string, a redirect sent the request where it needed to go.
    That's the good news.
The bad news came when I tried to press F1 on an interface *method*.  Apparently VS is seeing the interface in this context as another namespace.  And since I had only added a single key for my namespace, VS was not seeing the matching key in the
registry, and was defaulting back to MSDN.  If I add an additional registry key ("namespace.interfacename"), then the methods work correctly too.
This can't be how this is intended to work, can it?  I've got a couple hundred interfaces that I would need to add.  And that's just for my projects.  If other people are using this, there could be thousands of entries in this registry key.
This is particularly painful since "sub" namespaces aren't done with sub registry keys.  *Everything* goes in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Help\vx.x\Partner".
Tell me I'm missing something here.
    I'm using c# in VS2015 (14.0.22609.0 D14REL) running on Windows 8.

I met this issue before which was related to the IE settings. My suggestion is that you could reset your IE settings, and lower the IE security settings, test it again.

  • Cannot install Microsoft Project 2013 Trial

    Hi everyone,
I'm having a nightmare trying to install the Microsoft Project 2013 trial. I've read various forum posts, but can anyone give me a basic step by step guide to installing the trial!!!! I keep getting an .img file which does not open anything relevant! all
i want is a microsoft project icon to click on...please!!!!!!!!!

    Matt --
I think your question is the most repeated question in this public user forum.  Most people download the Microsoft Project 2013 trial version and expect to find an EXE file, which is not what you get.  Instead, for some reason only known to Microsoft,
you end up with an IMG file.
To install the software, you have the choice of burning it to a disk, or you can use third party software to unzip the contents of the IMG file.  I have opted for the second choice, and used the free software from 7-Zip.  If you use the 7-Zip software,
you can unzip the contents to a folder, and then run the EXE file you will find in the folder.  And no, I do not work for 7-Zip; I have used their software successfully and like it.  Hope this helps.

  • Microsoft Project 2013 Cash Flow Reports

Whilst I read many positive comments regarding the enhancements to Microsoft Project 2013.  I can't help but find myself frustrated that simple processes seem to have disappeared!  All I want to do is access a Cash Flow Report that will tell
me how much cash is required every week.  In Microsoft Project 2010 this was a simple matter of running a Cash Flow Report and reading the requirements from an easy to view table structure.  Select the Project Tab / Reports / Costs / Cash Flow.
Using Microsoft Project 2013 I get a lovely looking chart to view but really no useful information to view!  Can anyone help please, surely there must be an easy way of doing this in 2013?  Am I missing something?

Thanks for replying.  I'm trying to use the View Reports function. Report Tab / View Reports Group / Costs / Cash Flow. Didn't really want to go out to Excel.  Its complicated, we actually use MSP 2010.  However I am evaluating MSP2013 in
a Virtual Computer Window on the same computer.  Am unable to run Visual Reports as there is some problem I dont understand "Building Local OLAP Cubes" which stops Excel form generating the Visual Report.
Back to the problem, I cannot see the purpose of the MSP 2013 Cash Flow Report if all the report gives you is Name, Remaining Cost, Actual Cost, Cost, ACWP, etc.  I dont think that really provides useful Cash Flow indicators.

  • Integration with Microsoft project

    Hi
I am trying to create a ECC project from MSP(using OPENPS). However one of the field in SAP is mandatory at project definition(ex Company code). But I cant see the same field in MSP hence system does not create any project and showing a message enter the Company Code.
I created a column in microsoft project as "Company code" but it did'nt work. Please suggest how to create project in this case.
    Thanks & Regards
    Aby

    Hi,
OPENPS can not handle different company codes. It takes company code mentioned in the project profile.
You can try different project profiles for each company code.
You can also make the company code field as input field and then make changes manually after uploading from OPENPS. Can make a BDC or LSMW for this also.
Try MPS tool, but it is not free tool, it works on top of OPENPS so you still need OPENPS installed on your system but MPS gives many more options to work with; download its free version and test if it can fulfill your requirement.
