In addition to Indy bands, as PJ pointed out, there are a number of pieces of music in the public domain, or licensed for use under Creative Commons. This probably won't help you get what you want, but some to check out for this are (list copied from a website I maintain)
PublicDomain4U: A mix of classic old songs in the public domain and free songs posted with the artist's permission.
Musopen: Classical and vocal music.
Jamendo: Free music posted for downloading by the artists. More modern stuff...
Purple Planet: Music organized by "mood" ... from 'dramatic' to 'sadness'. You can use it any way you want as long as you don't sell it ... but make sure to give this website credit for the song!

No matter how many times I have tried to download the 'free update' for my Apple desktop it will not work and I keep having 'blocked images' messages. I had an issue a few months ago but eventually managed to download ok but it now goes thruogh the motion

I have been given a link to a "free MP3 download" and it opens in Mozilla using QuickTime - how can I make it download so that I can save into my iTunes library?

I've checked file associations for QT player and MP3 is not selected ... I can't see any way of saving it to my hard drive or forcing it to become a "download" ... can you help me please?

Music and Apps are not stored in iCloud, they are stored on the computer to which the device is synced.
Connect the device to the computer and sync the content.

Stand alone installer for flash player

Is it still possible to download a stand-alone installer for Flash Player (or any Adobe product)?
I really, really, really, really have NO interstes in any download manager. All I want is an installer I can just download. There used to be an ftp site that had up to date software that could simply and easily be downloaded, but I couldn't find any current software on that site. Where should I be looking?

iTunes 1.0.2 is +at least+ eight years old.
The current version is 9.2, and it's free.
If that was a typo, and you're using something more current:
In the iTunes preferences, change the import settings to mp3.
Then select the songs you wish to convert.
From the "Advanced" menu, choose "Create mp3 version".
When done, change the import settings back to Apple Lossless.
That's it.
BTW, this is the Logic Pro forum, which has absolutely nothing to do with iTunes.

While no one may be bothering to write exploits in PPC code any longer, at least for Flash, that doesn't mean that there aren't any still floating around. The following doesn't specifically mention PPC/Intel, but that doesn't mean there weren't critical vulnerabilities being exploited for PPC in 10.1.102.64. I wouldn't want to take the chance.

Plugins have special access to the system. Because plugins load automatically by default when the page calls for them, your system could be exploited before you even notice.
Many of these attacks can be mitigated, though not entirely prevented, by the use of add-ons that can block plugins from loading. However, there is still another problem apart from security: Mozilla is changing the environment and the technical requirements for how plugins interact with the system. These technical requirements are difficult to achieve with Mac OS X 10.4, and there are known graphical and compatibility bugs already. It is entirely possible that in the near future, extant PPC-compatible plugins will not function properly or at all.

Ya i still cant see my previously purchased items to download to my computer that are not on my computer even though i meant all the requirements on that paige and i decided to just downloaded it from the itunes tv show season in the itunes store and it said something about you have already purchased this episode do you want to download it for free i clicked download or yes and it downloaded with out being charged. but i don't want to chance hitting the wrong one and being charged money that i don't want to spend on some of the other episodes that i dont want so is there any other suggestions Ty agian.

Others are Silverlight (free) and Flip4Mac (payware) for protected Windows media files.
You can also install the free VLC player, it plays a lot too.
DivX, I don't know about, VLC likely can play that.
There is also RealPlayer, but I think that's dropped off the face of the planet
