Free Navigation for Nokia 6700 Classic

Hi everyone,
I notice the recent Nokia announcement that navigation is now free on all it's S60 based phones.
However, I just purchased a new Nokia 6700 Classic (Which has built in A-GPS, Nokia Maps pre-loaded & full offline Australia maps), but it runs S40 Software.
At the moment it appears Nokia still wants to charge me for turn-by-turn voice navigation. It seems a little unfair that the free navigation will only be offered on the S60 handsets when all Nokia have to do is send a free license code to S40 maps users to enable us to do the same.
I'm currently using 'We-Travel' on my Nokia 6700 which is a free 'Offline' GPS application. I'd much prefer to use Nokia's own maps software for navigation, but it's too expensive.
Does Nokia have any intention of making the free navigation available on the 6700 classic, or will users of non-S60 handsets still have to pay for this function?

this phone can handle a 16 gb card so you will be fine with the 8gb only if the higher card was at maximum capacity in general yeah it would slow things down a bit

when i send texts the correct time in my shows ok But when i receive texts straight back there is a diffrence of minus 1 hour ..Has any body incured this problem as a freind of mine is in the same situ

i have also faced same problem.
bt didnt find any solution till now.
Receiving time of mesages are wrong.
Plz let me know hw to correct it.
It creates trouble for me.

Can anyone tell me what changes have been made in firmware V7.60 for the Nokia 6700 classic?

yes it would make sense. if you have an n series or e series phone there is a chance you will see those notes, changelog but usually it is not common practice for nokia as it is not public knowledge. sorry mate. keep googling for it, it might show up somewhere

Nokia has not announced any specific availability dates for any region/country.

where there's the statement "expected to ship in the second quarter of 2009".
That means it'll probably ( "expected" is not the same as "guaranteed" ) be available somewhere in the world by the end of June.
Of course, it could also mean that it will be available somewhere in the world as early as 1st of April, too.
Note that if you are after operator customized versions, they also usually come only 2-3 months later than so called unlocked or SIMfree models.
So, if the unlocked model comes in some regions at the end of 2nd quarter (end of June), it could be August/September before it is available in your part of the world (where ever that is), depending on the situation.
If you subscribe to Nokia press releases via http://www.nokia.com/press then when it actually starts to ship somewhere, you'll get notified via email.

Dear sirs, I have a nokia 6700 classic and I cannot use the instant messaging system: I enter the “chat” application and I can select only the "Ovi" service.
How can I add other services (GoogleTalk, Messenger, Yahoo talk)???

Support for nokia 6700?

I just purchased a nokia 6700 classic and there is a USB cable included in the package. When connecting to the PC it has PC suite as one of the options but when I go to the web page at www.nokia.no to download PC suite it does not list 6700 classic nor any other 6700 as a possible model. How, then, can I choose the right version?
In my opinion the web page should have been updated before the model was released to the market - I assume that Nokia here has done a mistake.
I also tried to connect the telephone as a data storage device but vista appear to have had problems with that - at least no drive appeared on screen as is usual when I connect a new USB device.
I run windows vista home premium and I use the USB cable to connect the phone to the computer.

Silent Camera for Nokia 6220 Classic!?

Please is somewhere available a silent camera for Nokia 6220 Classic?
This 5 mb camera is great but it makes so horrible noice that it is impossible to take great photos while e.g. my puppy starts to follow that sound and stops playing!
It is no way to make this camera silent in this phone, but I know that a good program download would solve this problem.
Where might I download one?

Looks like they have disabled the ability to turn off camera sounds by disabling the warning tones. There are other solutions, but they also invalidate your warranty, hence we can't discuss them here.
Have a look at this link. The same applies in lots of other countries and the list gets longer by the day.

My nokia 2730 classic is no longer browsing to the internet, what is wrong with it?

ovi store uses prefered access point wether you set it to be used or not.
Some operator have different access point for different purpose. Eg, prepaid customer have different access point and post paid customer have thier own too. And if you have unlimited data plan your sim may use different access point too.
One of my freind is using same model. When settings are configured mannually, network doesn't allow connection. Preferred access point which operator has sent, was meant for postpaid customer with data plan but my freind is using prepaid sim. So the problem is setting or ovi which is not smart enough to use defualt configuration, it tries to use preferred access point even it is set to 'no'
Better contact SP wether they can sent preferred access point for your need

Nokia 6700 Classic sensor settings

Hi.
I have just recently bought the Nokia 6700, and was pretty impressed by the feature that allows you to view the clock, mute, reject calls etc by tapping the phone. However, I've been unable to get it to work. Any clues as to what could be wrong here? I've activated it through the phone settings, but still no joy.

Nokia 6700 Classic Voice DIalling Tags

I have just puchased a Nokia 6700 as a modern replacement to my faithful still functioning but somewhat battered 6230i. However I find that it seems that you can no longer attribute voice tags to individual entries for use in my handsfree car kit.
One seems to have rely upon the voice recognition software which, perhaps possibly because of my Somerset English accent, seems to have a zero success rate. For a handsfree kit having some options is not suitable and to me defeats the whole object of voice dialling. Is anyone aware of a software downgrade to take what is a really nice package back to something that is as useable as my previous 6230i?

Voice commands is a little different to the old Voice tags. Some people say the South African accent works best but there are ways around that.
First use the Playback option in the Voice Command menu to playback what the phone thinks each command should sound like. You should issue the commands as closely as possible to that. That was how I started and the phone seems to have learnt my accent now because nowadays it works almost all the time in my normal accent.

New Battery for Nokia 6120 Classic

Hello! What do you know?! Is there other battery compatible with Nokia 6120 Classic??? This one(BL-5B) sucks. 2 days without taking pictures, playing games, listening music, etc, just normally speaking (not much at all). And I turn it off during the night! All my friends have the same problem so that means that my battery has no malfunction, this is how it is made! Please help me! Is there other battery compatible with Nokia 6120 Classic???

I don't know why they don't make a better alternative.
It's size, weight and price range that determine which battery they use.
The 6120c is quite small for a smartphone and it's also considered to be a low-end model with a fairly low price tag.
Sometimes these compromises are made to release a device into a certain price range to be competitive.
You are better off searching google or unofficial forums to see if anyone has got a different battery to work as it's never been mentioned here.

Even if your phone is listed, unless you see the update available in the OVI_Suite you won't be able to do that. Connect phone to PC..Open OVI Suite --> Tools -->Software Updates and check.. If it shows any availability first back-up your data and then proceed for the update..
