Free phone memory problem

i have a problem with my nokia 305 with freeing space at the expense when there is nothing to delete on phone

Plug your phone in to your PC and open BlackBerry Desktop Software.  Once your phone has connected to it, click Device at the top of the software then Restore.  A list of previous data backups will appear.  Simply choose the second-most recent one (because the most recent one should be the one you're currently running on your phone) and load it.  If you ever decide you wish to revert back to your current version of OS, simply follow those steps but pick the backup file at the very top of the list.
Please post back with your results.
- If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated.

I have a Nokia Asha 206. Recently I updated it. After the update now out shows phone memory full all the time though I don't have any file in phone memory accept those which I could not delete. Please tell me how to solve this problem cause even if anyone sends me text msg it does not come to my phone cause memory is full. Even I can't send any msg. Everytime I try to send or receive something it showed memory full.i have external memory having 700mb free space but only 37kb internal free space.

Hi, wasimul. Welcome to our community. We suggest deleting some of your files like photos, videos, and text messages that you no longer need. You can also save your contacts directly to the memory card to avoid such issue. Another option is to reset it to its original settings. Here's how: Restore factory settings. The link is still applicable regardless of your location. We look forward to your reply.

  • PLEASE HELP! N95 phone memory problem

    Hi
I have a N95 8GB which is now about 2 years old.  The phone itself works fine, well, that was until yesterday morning.
It hasnt been recently dropped, there is no logical reason i can see, but the phone has lost its mind.
It's been telling me since yesterday morning that there is no phone memory left.  So I completely wiped all my music, videos, pictures, messages etc.  To no avail, it's still telling me there is no phone memory.
I went to delete a contact, which are actually saved on my sim card, and it told me there wasnt enough memory to do this.
I've restored factory settings, no joy.
It also keeps popping up with "carousel already in use".
I can't now receive txts either because it tells me not enough memory to read.
Am I going to have to get a new phone on my inusrance, or is this a problem I can sort with your help?
    thanks in advance

Go to Menu>Tools>File Manager>Options>Memory details, this will give you a run-down of how much phone memory is free and how much is used, then a breakdown of where the memory is being used. Your phone memory is about 140Mb in total (don't confuse this with the 8Gb - that's just "Mass memory" for storage of data like music, video and pictures plus it is possible to install some apps in there. The phone memory is used for processing as well as sotrage, which is why you get these errors if too much is used.
In the breakdown, you'll see the following items:
    - Calendar: this should only be a few Kb, perhaps a few hundred Kb if you use the feature often, but not too much
    - Contacts: should also be measured in Kb, even if many of your contacts have images
    - Messages: should be measured in Kb, if it goes into Mb or worse still Gb then you have Bluetooth of MMS messages hogging space - save the attachments to mass memory and delete the messages.
    - Images, videos and soundclips should not be large - perhaps a small number of ringtones, images that you use as backgrounds etc. but the bulk of these media files are best moved to mass memory.
    - Documents should be tiny, keep documents in mass memory.
    - MIDP (Java) apps and SIS (Symbian) apps could be filling space, you might be able uninstall some of these and reinstall them to mass memory if needs be, but be aware that some apps must be in phone memory and that some of the space taken by SIS apps will be preinstalled stuff that you can't move.
If none of the above can explain the memory full erros and you do seem to have a large amount of Mb free, then it could be a software issue that can be solved by reformatting the phone with the code *#7370# - make sure that you use PC Suite Content Copier to backup important data first, and after the reformat when you restore the backed-up data, don't include settings in the restoration and also leave out any data types that you know you don' use.

  • Sony Xperia E C1504 - Low Phone memory - only 54 MB free Memory on phone after update

I am using Sony Xperia E c1504 phone and facing memory problem. The downloaded applications are already moved to SD card and some of the inbuilt applications on phone are also moved on SD Card. Now there is no application which I can move on SD card by the simple way given in phone. Also I regularly cleans the cache by cleaner. All my photos are saved to SD card, no videos are taken so no problem of video memory. I have moved every possible element on SD card.
In this condition when I downloaded the new update of phone, it installed some more new applications like Google books, google movies, google games, google magazines etc. on my phone which have no option to move to SD Card. So my phone memory is very low. I uninstalled one inbuilt application Cricbuzz but still my phone is showing only 54 MB free phone memory. Now I can't update some applications due to low space on phone though I have 1.79 GB on internal storage free and 14.73 GB on SD card free memory.
Now how to manage these applications? Is there any way so that I can move some more inbuilt applications to SD card?
And what is rooting? please explain. Can I move applications on phone to SD card by rooting? If yes how?
Is there any other way to solve this problem?
I am new to android technology. Please help.

  • N81 8GB Phone memory is not available !!!

I am using N81 8GB. So far I know brand new N81 8GB has 16MB of free internal memory and somewhat 8GB of free external memory (where internal memory in the phone memory and external memory is the memory card.
Last three months it was asking me “Phone Memory” is out of space whereas I used only 2GB out of 8GB mass memory.  I installed everything in Mass memories. Recently it was asking me , Phone memory is not available. I used “OVI suite” with  cable and found 24MB already used 0(zero) space available. Then I deleted all programme, music, video and  and others from “Mass memory”  and formatted it. Even deleted everything except default program. Then I flashed the Mobile from OVI update suite. Version has changed but found 21MB is occupied out of 24MB. Now tell me what’s the solution to free the spaces?
I can’t receive more than 3 or 4 music (small) files via Bluetooth. It asks me to free the inbox space. So far I had total 10 text message (SMS) in inbox. Why it should ask me whereas I have enough memory( 6GB) in “Mass Memory” ?
    Is there any solution?

I wanted to install the Viber application for Nokia on my phone. But the memory is low and a message is displayed "Low memory on C".  I have deleted all my messages and images are also not present. I have checked the phone memory the total size of the contents is 21.3 kb. I have a phone memory of 75.4 MB, but the free space is just 2.99MB. There are about 30 MB SIS applications and 42MB 0f Other files. Can i delete these files??

Memory Full: Delete or remove some data from C: Phone memory"
The phone notifies you if the phone memory or memory card memory is getting low. There can be different error messages shown this situation, e.g.:
"Memory Full: Delete or remove some data from C: Phone memory"
"Disk Full : Automatic retrieval of mailbox for exchange disabled"
To free phone memory, transfer some data to the memory card with the File mgr application (select Menu > Applications > File mgr.). Select or mark files to be moved, select Options > Organise > Move to folder and then the destination folder.
In order to free memory, you could also remove or move the following:
Messages from Inbox, Drafts and Sent folders in Messaging.
Retrieved e-mail messages from the phone memory.
Saved Web pages. Clear the web browser cache to free some memory (select Options > Clear privacy data > Cache).
Saved images, videos, or sound files.
    Contact information.
    Calendar notes.
    Downloaded application packages.
If there are applications which are not needed any more, uninstall them (select Menu > Settings > Data mgr. > App.mgr. > Installed apps.).
Any other data that you no longer need
If possible, use the memory card instead of phone memory in the Camera application (select Options > Settings > Memory in use to define the memory where the images are stored). You can also use Nokia Suite to transfer images and video clips to your PC.
If you are deleting multiple items and any of the following notes are shown: Not enough memory to perform operation. Delete some data first or Memory low. Delete some data, try deleting items one by one (starting from the smallest item).
LAST OPTION Is hard reset TYPE in *#7370# code os 12345 if asked.

  • How does the N70 phone memory interact with the me...

I am not sure how to use the phone memory and the card memory on my N70. I thought that the memory card was simply an overflow which was activated when my phone memory was full. However when I download music from my PC and my phone memory is full I will get the message "not enough memory". Obviously I'm being a "thicko" again. Help!Message Edited by holein1 on 26-Apr-2006

It doesn't quite work in the way you suggest. You will always have the option to use the memory card instead of the phone memory. If you want your phone to have a fairly quick response time it's best practice to keep as much free phone memory as possible, eg. of my approx 20MB, I use about 5MB which leaves approx 15MB unused. There are some files I do store in phone memory in order to keep my N70 running relatively quick and that's actively used ringtones and any themes that I currently use.
When you install 3rd party applications, your phone will ask you whether you want to install to phone memory or to the memory card.
If your having issues of filling up the phone memory with incoming messages then you can choose to have incoming messages routed directly to your memory card thus bypassing the phone memory. To access the setting go to:
Menu > Messaging > Options > Settings > Other > Memory in use
Change memory in use from phone memory to memory card.
This should cure your "not enough memory" error messages.

I think the 1st step in considering the replies above  for my low memory for my Nokia 208 is for someone to tell me if what applications that are preinstalled in Nokia 208 that are causing my low memory problems. Also tell me if the only solution is a memory card or connection to a pc to transfer applications/files.
    Thanks in advance
Most of the phone memory problems on the Asha or S40 platform can be rectified by clearing the cache of the main browser and deleting some messages, but since it appears you have already done that, try to update your phone or perform a complete reinstallation of the phone's software. First you have to make a backup of the contents stored in your phone - especially the contacts.
You can back up your phone memory to a compatible memory card. To do that, follow the steps below.
    1. Select Menu > Settings > Sync & backup.
    2. Select Create backup.
    3. Select what you want to back up, then press Done.
    Restore a backup
Select Restore backup and what you want to restore, then press Done.
After you made the backup, try to update your phone to the latest software available - instructions can be found here at http://www.nokia.com/global/support/software-update/asha-software-update or use the Nokia Software Recovery Tool for a complete fresh installation of the phone software.
    Good luck

  • X6 Phone Memory

I've tried to download a phone software update but it tells me my phone doesn't have enough memory available. I checked the memory and, apparently I only have 3mb of memory left on the phone. Having looked at the details, apparently 283mb are being used by 'other files' and 17mb being used by 'ssis applications' but I have no idea what these files may be. I dont save anything to the phone memory (I use mass memory instead) and I've checked all the files and folders and can find nothing that would account for using up this amount of memory!
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    C

To free phone memory, transfer data to a mass memory in the File mgr application. Mark files to be moved, select Move to folder (or Organise > Move to folder) and then the destination folder.
In order to free memory, you could also remove or move the following:
    a. Messages from Inbox, Drafts and Sent folders in Messaging
    b. Retrieved e-mail messages from the phone memory Saved Web pages. Clear the web browser cache to free some memory.
    c. Saved images, videos, or sound files
    d.Contact information
    e.Calendar notes
    f.Downloaded application packages
g.If there are applications which are not needed any more, uninstall them
h.Any other data that you no longer need
If possible, use the mass memory instead of phone memory in the Camera application. You can also use Image Store available in the Nokia PC Suite or Ovi Suite to transfer images and video clips for example to a compatible PC.
If you are deleting multiple items and any of the following notes are shown: Not enough memory to perform operation. Delete some data first or Memory low. Delete some data, try deleting items one by one (starting from the smallest item)

  • N95 problem with phone memory and backup.

My phone is saying that I have 1870 MB of messages on the phone memory (which can't be true), and it is refusing to back up on the memory card, which I guess is because of this problem as it thinks there's not enough space on the card.
Anyone know what could cause this problem?
    Thanks for your help.
    T-mobile please give us v.20 N95 software.

Hmm, well I'm stumped. If it's within warranty perhaps contact the supplier and accept they'll probably lose your data. I can't be any more helpful I'm afraid, especially as I'm a user and not an actual Nokia technician.
All I can suggest given the extra info you've provided, is to buy a card that can hold the imaginery 1870MB's and change the message storage settings? Alternatively look at the phone via PC suite which makes some files and folders visible on the phone memory (called 'C' drive). Prod around there may be, with research you may find the file that collects that info, delete it and the phone 'may' replace it with the corect values?
I'd be interested to know of the real solution.

  • Problem actually viewing files in phone memory and...

When I browse the phone memory and the memory card using the file manager a lot of the files show empty but I know there are things in them.  I also copied the memory card to my computer and looked and have the same problem...even after selecting to view hidden files as well.  The folders just show empty.
Also...my contacts are set to be saved in phone memory...yet I cannot find a "contacts" folder anywhere in phone memory.  The memory card has a "contacts" folder but it appears empty when viewing it.
    Any ideas?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The Nokia File Manager gives access to just a fraction of the phone memory, and several directories on both the phone and the memory card are write-protected and also typically read- and view-protected.  (The workaround for the card is to put the phone in Mass Storage mode, or to use an external card reader.)  But in my experience, there really are lots of empty directories!  I figure it's a side effect of Symbian's 10+ year history.  If you really want to see what's on your phone, install a third party file browser like Y-Browser (http://www.drjukka.com/YBrowser.html , scroll down to the bottom) or X-Plore (http://www.lonelycatgames.com/?app=download ).  Even better, install Mobile Guard (http://www.netqin.com/en/guard/symbian/ ) for read access to protected directories like C:\Private and C:\Sys.  (Mobile Guard is a suite of programs, some of which may run automatically like a download manager...so don't be alarmed by the pop-ups.  You can turn most of them off.)
Your contacts are stored somewhere in C:\Private, as well as email, SMS messages, etc.  That's why you can't find them.  This is the nature of Symbian's "System Security" feature.  Hope that helps!
