Free plug-ins

Does anyone have or know of any quick editing plugs-ins for text or borders to avoid going to photoshop? Preferably free ones. But if I were to buy aperature plug-ins, what are the ones worth the money? I have photoshop actions which do the trick, but I would really prefer to speed up my editing time, without breaking the bank.

That is perfect!! Quick and easy, I love it!

  • Nokia offers FREE plug-ins for some devices not supported by iSync 2.4

Nokia is now offering free plug-ins for otherwise unsupported Nokia mobile handsets in Mac OS X 10.4.9 and iSync 2.4 configurations. All support both Bluetooth and USB synchronization, and work only with Mac OS X 10.4.9 and iSync 2.4, bundled with it. The plug-ins listed below can be downloaded from Nokia here:
    http://www.nokia.com/A4299040
    Supported models include the…
    • E50
    • E60
    • E61i
    • E65
    • E70
    • N76
    • N93i
    • N95

That's a good point, and I should have taken the time to point that out.
It's not particularly important that Nokia has chosen to offer free plug-ins for a limited number of their mobile handsets not presently supported by iSync. The really important thing here is that a manufacturer has actually chosen to support the technology at all!
I do support a vibrant developer community, and think that Nova Media and others who have taken the time to create plug-ins and, who continue to support them, deserve to be compensated for their efforts. It worth noting that Nova Media was out front with support for Nokia mobile handsets about a year before Nokia itself chose to offer support. And, as Jan points out, they continue to support units that Nokia itself does not.

  • Why wont these free plug-ins/filter show up in Final Cut Pro X?

Why wont these free plug-ins/filter show up in Final Cut Pro X? Two of them are .fcfcc files from http://pistolerapost.com/pluginz/index.html

  • Free plug ins for fcp

so a few have suggested a couple free plug ins for the garbage point masks, and i do apreciate it, this question is in regards to free plugins in general.. how safe are they and the sites there found on? what are the chances ill ruin my new mac by putting them on my system, sorry to ask so much but im just trying to learn as i go,
    thanks in advance
    Brucey Bizzit

Many of the posters here author them -- some without cost and some sold.
Are the sites safe? From what?
Never heard of a plug in for FCP ruining a computer. If they don't work or cause issues, just trash them

Be careful to check for compatibility, you need to check whether a plug-in works with the version of Photoshop you purchased/subscribed to.

  • Free Plug-ins from OnOne Software

Dave Cross posted a link to free Plug-ins from OnOne software on his blog this morning. Here is the link: http://davecross.blogspot.com/
I've downloaded them and they work fine with Photoshop, but PhotoFrame and PhotoTools are supposed to work with Lightroom too but so far I haven't been able to load them using File >  Plug-in Manager. I can find them on my HD but all the files are greyed out.
    Anybody can figure this out?
They say min. requirements for the Mac is 10.5 – but they installed and work fine in Photoshop CS 2, with 10.4.11.

    Rene,
A couple of things..  I can't seem to find the Dave Cross plug-in?  Where is it on Dave's site?
Also, as for showing up in LR.  You're saying the one that they gave away..  Did you get the full suite (which should be Professional) or individual products, like PhotoFrame, PhotoTools, etc.  If they were individual products, then yes, the Pro versions integrate with LR.

  • Best sites for FREE plug ins? Or stock footage?

Hello all, I am fairly new to iMovie and I want to spruce up some of my home movies with some plug-ins.
Can anyone point me in the direction of any sites that offer decent cheap (preferably free) plug-ins? Or any good iMovie fan sites that perhaps have more info on this sort of thing?
Secondly, I have seen a few sites that do free 'stock footage' - news clips and the like. For example http://www.archive.org/details/prelinger - does anyone know of any other good stock footage sites?
    Hope you can help!

    I bet
Boris FX will have what you want.
    Cheers

  • Any websites for free plug ins?

Just wondering if somebody can direct me to some sweet free plug-ins for logic pro 8. Gracias!

  • Thanks Andy's FREE plug-ins (especially the 4:3 to 16:9 "fake" anamorphic)

This a message to "Andy" who frequents this discussion group. It was for his comments on his plug in site (Great free and useful plug-ins by the way) but the image verification isn't working. Others may find it useful if they're interested in converting old 4:3 video to 16:9 widescreen TV's.

Hi Andy, excellent filter addressing something of an issue for me right now (converting old 4:3 video to 16:9 aspect for viewing on my plasma)
You're being a little hard on yourself saying is far from perfect; it's more like "nearly perfect" I've been experimenting with it, and before that Mattais Sandstrom's Smart anamorphic from Too Much too soon plugins. That was a script that I tried to modify (knowing nothing of computer code; just FCP's plugin builder) and I know it's a ***** getting the kinks out of the "bending" around the points of distortion. You've managed very well and with possibly a smoother blend (Protection override helps) this could be perfect. As it is, the user control; the ability to keyframe the sliders makes this a great plugin. I've done some tests and like you say, a static image works great. the give away is a panning shot or if you keyframe the protected area to move (to sometimes track a subject) That said it's densely detailed backgrounds that give away effect; out of focus works a treat. I tend to key frame on the edit so on the next frame the area has has jumped to protect another subject. If I have to track a figure for instance I try to keep the move as long as possible so the effect of "bulging" is gradual and less noticable. I also "squeeze" the footage slightly to produce two slight black bars either side of the screen, barley noticable, bur lessens the stretching of the protection override. ( I have best "compromise" settings of protection width 30, Protection override 3-6, and elasticity of 4) I think if you can smooth out that distortion around the protected area you'll have a "perfect" plug-in! I'd even make a donation to see this gets done! Great work Andy, Thanks!

if the source is 4:3 and the target is 16:9 then you will need to blow-up the image so that the horizontal axis fills the 16:9 image width ... that means you will have to crop the image either top or bottom or a bit of both.
simplest is to nest the 4:3 sequence into a 16:9 one and then resize the nest to 133% using the motion tab scale attribute and accept the default centre cut cropping of top and bottom of the image.
for more control you may want to reframe each shot for best placement

  • Installing free plug-ins

Hello, I have found a free plug-in called mehdiplugins.com specifically the Kaleidoscope 2.1 which I would like to have installed into my Adobe Element 10 software.
When I think I have it installed..and it seems  very easy...just download, I cannot find it anywhere..I think it should be in the Filter section.
Would anyone know if it's not compatible with Elements 10, or am I jsut stupid!
This looks like a very cool web site with lots of assorted plugins available.
    thanks for any help...Linda

Did you unzip and extract the filter?
Then right click on the filter and select copy.
    Then go to
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Plug-Ins
Right click in that folder and select paste.
Then start or restart elements and the filter should be near the bottom of the filter list

  • Free plug ins & filters, sounds too?

are there common popular sites to acquire free filters & plug ins.
    And even sound effects?
    Thanks anyone?

For sound effects, the "Freesound Project" at http://www.freesound.org/home/login/?next=/home/ is hard to beat.  You have to register but it's completely free.  Don't forget to upload anything potentiall useful to others that you happen to record for yourself!
For a selection of free VST plug ins, have a browse through http://www.sadglad.com/freevstplugins6.html .  They vary from really good to a bit blah, but there's certainly a lot to choose from!

  • Free (and worthwhile) plug-ins for CS3

I know that "worthwhile" is subjective. But of course "Free" is not
    subjective.
I'd like to get some good links for Free PS CS3 plug-ins.
    Thanks for any info offered.

I used to use virtual photographer from http://www.optikvervelabs.com/
It doesn't offer all the controls as other photo-effect plugins, but you get some good (or at least interesting) results and the price is right!
I don't know anything about it, but this site has links to a number of free plug-ins. http://www.thepluginsite.com/resources/freeps.htm I can't recommend however.
