  • Upgrade to SAP Solution Manager 3.2 to 7.0 EHP

    Dear Experts
At present I am using SAP Solution manager 3.2. Now I am planing to update SAP Solution Manager 7.0.
I am some confutation in SAP Solution Manager 7.0 and SAP Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1,
what i do please help me.
    Regards
    Sanjay C.

EHP1 is basically a product enhancement of 700 - i.e offers new functionality
Usually to get to Enhancement packages you need to be operating NW2004S stack based product - in this case 4.0 (now called Solution Manager 7.0)
I think this proposal will require first an upgrade from 3.2 to 4.0
then after applying Enhancement Package EHP1 and following pre-reqs for both steps
Also bearing in mind that Solution Manager is RFC dependant any change in SID, Hostname or client will require
all RFC connections will need to be adapted
There may also be special considerations depending on source configuration or the active Solution Manager scenarios and content
I would take a look at following PDF for reference - it may help in the initial 3.2-->4.0 upgrade

  • Connecting an existing CEN to the SAP Solution Manager

    Hi,
I have running a CEN (Central Monitoring).
To use this Monitoring Data into the SAP Solution Manager  for CPH and E2E Monitoring , a connection is needed between CEN and Solution Manager.
It seems that this information is available on SDN but I can not find it.
    Has anybody experience with it?
    Thanks
    Paul

the extensions should be connected to the terminals on the faceplate as that enables you to connect to test socket and eliminate all your internal wiring which is essential when checking your broadband conenction.  in addition the bt incoming wires on the back of the master belong to openreach.  connecting to terminals A&B is star wiring and will just cause problems with any broadband conenction and should you need an openreach engineer then he would disconnect the wires and may connect to faceplate or may not connect them as that is customers responsibilty

  • Ticket SAP Solution Manager 7.0 to SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0

    Hi,
I want to migrate all tickets from SAP Solution Manager 7.0 to SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0 , please let me know the procedure how to migrate it.
    DB Detail
    SAP Solution Manager 7.0 - MSSQL( 9.00.4035)
SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0 - MSSQL(10.00.2531)
    Thanks,
    Kaleel

    Dear Mohamed,
I was reading the post and the replies and while I think your question has been answered, I just want to make sure what you are trying to achieve. Is it a migration, where you have one Solution Manager system on SAP Solution Manager 7.0 and another
SAP Solution Manager EHP1 system and you were looking to migrate the Service Desk messages?
If you are "Upgrading" one system from Solution Manager 7.0 to  EHP1 then all the messages are preserved.
If you are "Migrating" to a physically different system, then transfer of Service Desk Messages is not supported.
Please see the document [SAP Solution Manger-  Conent Transfer|https://websmp204.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=011000358700000608232009E]
Also Service Desk is a completely independent CRM Service, so the messages could always be archived, as has been suggested.
No depending on your scenario, is the EHP1 system brand new or is it already productive? If it was brand new, you might be able to do a homogenous system copy, and then upgrade the new system to EHP1. But if it is already productive, this would not be an option.
    Hope this helps to clarify.
    Regards,
    Paul

  • SAP Solution Manager and SAP Production Server on Single Host

We are rolling out our new infrastructure using high end Solaris Servers that have plenty of grunt.
I am looking at running SAP Solution Manager 7 and SAP Netweaver 6 on the same HOST using two Oracle databases.
We will use 10g and have 2 separate  transport volumes for transports. The Development and test environments will be very similar.
Appreciate any advise or thoughts. We are not looking at virtualising this particular environment.

Technically you can do that - yes. I could also imagine in installing the ERP on the bare metal and the SolMan in a zone, together with a processor set you can limit resource usage and you´re totally isolated from your production environment and will so make sure that SolMan is not stealing necessary resources from your production environment.

  • BPC (Outlooksoft) and SAP Solution Manager

Has anyone seen the SAP Solution Manager used to rollout and/or upgrade Outlooksoft (now called BPC - Business Planning and Consolidation)?
I am trying to assess the usefulness of this tool in an implementation where the only SAP module the company has is Outlooksoft (BPC), so all thoughts are appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Greg

Question was never answered but I'm closing it due to SDN's number of open question per user limitation.

  • Solution manager 7.0 and Non-SAP Sys. for managing whole IT infrastructure

    Hello Gurus,
ive tried to search the allmighty google and SDN network for an answer how can we use the SolMan 7.0 for external applications (non-SAP).
What is our concern is that basically the Sol Man is described for using with whole SAP product environment. project management, chagne management, support, updating and etc.
    My idea is:
Can we use SolMan for describing our whole IT projects and processes?
What i mean is if for example we have a payroll system which is running in non-SAP environment, can we describe the project for it? track the changes to it? document everything and etc. Its like to use the SolMan for whole IT infrastructure no matter if the application is SAP or non-SAP environment.
    Best regards

    Hello there,
SAP Solution Manager contains some functionality to work with non SAP products. For example, in transaction SMSY (system landscape) you can define non SAP products and therefore non SAP systems, although the functionatlity that you get thus is somewhat limited (no automatic refresh, no logon from RFC destination, etc).
The same applies for the project (SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN) part of Solution Manager. It is possible to assign a logical component for a non SAP product to a project, then in the project it is possible to describe the process and document it but it will not be possible to use the more SAP oriented functionality like links to IMG projects, etc.

  • Powerbuilder and SAP Solution Manager

    Hello,
Do you know if SAP Solution Manager supports Powerbuilder? or, what SAP product can I use to complement powerbuilder through the entire development cycle of a system, including stress tests?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi there,
I think my question is not clear
I already installed Solman and its running. And we used the default name for the MSSQL Instance.
My question is:  During the installation of SAP ECC 5.0. this means:
    1) Installation of MSSQL Instance
    2) Installation of ECC 5.0 Software
by the installation of the MSQL Instance I get the question if I want to use default name for the DB instance (which is not possible because its already used for DB instance for Solman instance) or another SID.
And my question: Is it ok to use another SID? (Think that DB name and SAPSID should be the same for SAP).
if yes, why its saying that SAP recommend default? Does this will make me problem with SAP later?
This is what is making me afraid and that why I am trying to get a help to be sure that this is possible and will not make any problems for SAP.
    I hope its clear now
    Best regards

  • Please suggest on: SAP Solution Manager Installation

    Hi Experts,
We are going to install SAP Solution Manager in our landscape. Our present SAP version is: ECC 6.0 and Database is: Oracle 10.2.0.2 and OS is: AIX 5.3
    1. Please suggest us which is the suitable Solution manager version for our environment?
    2. What are the pre-requisites and needful steps to take before starting the installation?
    3. Where can I get complete step by step documents for this activity?
    4. Which OS & DB  is suitable for our environment?
    Thanks in advance!
    Veera

Can I also ask for some confirmation about a couple of things.  I have looked at the SAP documents but I can't find a definite answer to these questions:
    1.  David Kroone - you say that Solution manager should be set up on a new server but I understand that it is possible to run it on one of our existing R/3 servers.  Is this correct?  Does anyone have any comments about this?
    2.  David - you also say that we can pick any OS & DB for the Solution Manager server. We are running R/3 on Oracle/Solaris but would prefer to run Solution Manager on a Windows server running SQLServer.  Is this definitely OK?  (it would be cheaper though you advise that using the same platform could make it simpler - is this because Solution Manager works better on the same platform or is it just because we would then have a more homogeneous environment?)
    3.  We are currently on 4.7 but plan to move to ECC6 this summer.  We want (need?) to install Solution Manager before we upgrade to ECC6.  Should this affect our decision in anyway?
Sorry to re-ask the same questions but it's difficult to find a precise answer in the SAP documents.

  • SAP Solution Manager - Enterprise Support Report bw cubes

We are looking at the Infoproviders in Solution Manager BW and noticed the data for SAP Solution Manager - Enterprise Support Report.
When we look at these cubes, we are particularly interested in the Software Component Versions.
Unfortunately, all of these data cubes are empty.  Based on some discussions among our colleagues we are wondering if this data is only activated for customers that have the full Enterprise Support agreement in place with SAP?
If that is the case, then so be it (we don't have that level of support).  However, if that is not the case, can anyone suggest a way to populate these cubes.
    thanks,
    Jeff Henke

    Hi,
Solution Manager is a separate component and needs to be installed separately (not possible to install on top of R/3 Enterprise).
You can order SAP Solution Manager Software from SAP or download from http://service.sap.com/swdc
Solution manager is free from SAP and no additional license involved for it's customer for normal use.
You can get more information on Solution manager from http://service.sap.com/solutionmanager
btw: as far as I know for R/3 Enterprise you can still download patches via http://service.sap.com/swdc  without solution manager, For Netweaver 7.0 systems, use of Solution Manager (Maintenance Optimizer) became mandatory.
    Cheers !!
    Satya.
PS: Pls reward points if the answer was helpful...Thx.
